He was a minister and full-time evangelist. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps for seven years. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bonnie Ruth Rigsby Evers
Services for Bonnie Ruth Rigsby Evers, 75, of Navarre Beach, Fla., formerly of Arab, were held Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, at Gober Funeral Chapel in Arab. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Arab Memorial Cemetery. Gober Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Evers died Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Gulf Breeze Hospital in Florida. She was born April 14, 1926 in Cullman. She was a retired accountant with the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ida Lou Rigsby. Survivors include her husband, John E. Evers of Navarre, Fla.; a sister, Barbara Russell of Huntsville; four sisters-in-law, Lorene Apel of Cullman, Kay Evers of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Millie Evers of Cullman, and Margaret Seymore of Raleigh, N.C.; four brothers-in-law, Ervin Apel of Cullman, Alex Evers of Mt. He was the owner of Anderson Boats for 42 years and was very active in the marine business, earning many prestigious awards, including the Top Dealer Award in the United States from Mercury Marine. He was an active participant and promoter of boat racing and bass fishing and was a member of Longview Church of God. Survivors include his wife, Frances Anderson of Cullman; two daughters, Sue Anderson (Paul) DeLucia of Cullman, Teresa Anderson of Knoxville, Tenn.; son, Rickey (Cathy) Anderson of Cullman; grandson, Robby (Dena) Harbison; and two great-grandchildren, Jessica and Caleb Harbison. Mr. Livingston died Wednesday, Sept. 5. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Carmen Johnson Livingston. Survivors include his parents, Robert and Patricia Livingston of Hanceville; a brother, Kris Livingston of Birmingham; two sisters, Anna Livingston of Hanceville and Kathryn Walsh of Harrogate, England; grandparents, Arthur L. Livingston of Lillian and L.C. and Robena Hannah of Piedmont; his fiancee, Carrie Michelle Ryan of Hanceville; and a niece, Madyson Walsh of Harrogate, England. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrew’s Methodist Church, St. Bernard Prep School, or to a favorite charity.

Vedmer Poodry
Services for Vedmer Poodry, of Huntsville will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2001 at Hopewell Baptist Church, with burial in adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Poodry died Wednesday, Sept. 5 at Huntsville Hospital. Survivors include two daughters, Connie (Daniel) Towery of Texas and Laura Poodry of Huntsville; three brothers, Mitchell Strawbridge of Rossville, Ga., Charlie Strawbridge of Birmingham and Buford Strawbridge of Nashville, Tenn.; four sisters, Gertrude Sellers of Tamps, Fla., Pearl Curvin of Vinemont, Vida Duke of Somerville and Ardie LeCompt of Nashville, Ga.; and special friend, Marty Pascoe of Cullman. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and Sunday.

Virginia Alice Phillips
Services for Virginia Alice Phillips, 47, of Sumiton will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001 at Williams-McCracken Funeral Home Chapel, Kent Pershall officiating, with burial in Dripping Springs Church of Christ Cemetery. Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Phillips died Thursday, Sept. 6 at Walker Baptist Medical Center. She was born Jan. 27, 1954 in Cullman to Leo and Edith Williams Woods. Survivors include two daughters, Melinda Evans of Vinemont and Marlene Godfrey of Jacksonville; a brother, Gary Leo Woods of Vinemont; and six grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.
