TINA STEINER SHAFER

PENSACOLA - Tina Steiner Shafer, a former resident of Baldwin County, died on Sunday, Aug. 9, 1998, at her Pensacola residence.

Mrs. Shafer was a photojournalist and had many of her pictures displayed throughout Baldwin County.

She is survived by her daughter, Maria Moppin of Hanover, Ind.; two sisters, Martha Pillsbury of Dilborne, Mich., and Margaret Kyte of Bon Secour.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Bon Secour with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of choice.

Funeral arrangements are by Bayview Funeral Home, Foley. 

ELOUISE WILLIAMS STEVENS

STOCKTON - Elouise Williams Stevens died Friday, Aug. 7, 1998, at a local hospital. Mrs. Stevens, 84, was a member of the Zion Fountain A.M.E. Zion Church in Stockton.

She is survived by one brother, Martin Williams Jr. of Stockton and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be tonight, from 7 to 9, at Zion Fountain A.M.E. Zion Church. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. The Rev. Richard L. Dockery Jr. will officiate and burial will follow at Robinson Cemetery.

The funeral arrangements are being handled by Baldwin Community Chapel Funeral Home in Bay Minette. 

WILLIAM LINZSEY JR.

FOLEY - William Linzsey Jr. died Aug. 8, 1998, at the William F. Green Veterans Home in Bay Minette.

He was a native of Monroe County but had lived in Foley for the past 50 years. He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Foley.

Survivors include one son, Eugene Linzsey of Pensacola; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday at Southside Baptist Church in Foley. The Rev. C.C. Williams will officiate and burial follows at Southside Cemetery.

STELLA ANDERSON

LOXLEY - Stella Anderson died Aug. 6, 1998, at Crowne Health Care in Mobile.

She is survived by two sons, R.C. Prim and Alvin Anderson, both of Loxley; a sister, Golden Carter of Bay Minette; and several grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Loxley. The 3 p.m. funeral will be officiated by the Rev. David Miller and burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery.

Baldwin Community Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
 

JOSEPH FLOYD LANGHAM 

FAIRHOPE - Joseph Floyd Langham, a native of Garland and a resident of Fairhope, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 1998, in a local hospital. He was 91. 

Langham is survived by three daughters, Jo Ann Langham and Blanche Gibson, both of Fairhope, and Floy Watley of Mobile; two brothers, Charlie Langham of Spanish Fort, Leroy Langham of Pensacola; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. 

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday from the chapel of the funeral home with Dr. Stan Weatherford and the Rev. A.B. Sawyer officiating. Interment will be in Memory Gardens of Fairhope. 

JOANNE WILSON 

LOXLEY - JoAnne Wilson, a native of Blytheville, Ark., and a resident of Loxley, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998. She was 53. 

She is survived by her husband, Donald Wilson of Loxley; three daughters, Darlene Everroad of Fairhope, Denise Coy of Marlow, Donna Wilson of Pensacola; one son, Cory Wilson of Loxley; her mother, Ruby Bracken of Thorsby; three sisters, Mabelline Baker and Jewel McBride, both of Texas, Evelyne Wilson of Arkansas; one brother, James Bracken of Thorsby; and 11 grandchildren. 

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Mack Funeral Home in Robertsdale. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with interment at Pine Rest Memorial Park in Foley. 

THOMAS STEWART EASLEY 

SILVERHILL - Thomas Stewart Easley Sr., a native of Hickman, Ky., and a resident of Silverhill, died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998. He was 78. 

He is survived by his wife, Gladys Easley of Silverhill; two daughters, Wanda Faye Butkus of St. Ann, Ill., and Elaine Smith of 

<022 . 0066.03>Silverhill; one son, Thomas S. Easley Jr. of Josephine; one sister, Catherine Riley of Nashville, Tenn.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Mack Funeral Home with visitation starting at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Silverhill Cemetery. 

MILDRED R. TURNER 

SPANISH FORT - Mildred R. Turner, a native of South Carolina and resident of Spanish Fort, died Saturday at her residence. 

She was a member of Jubilee Baptist Church. 

She is survived by two daughters, Martha Jo Lyons and Barbara Lee Thomas, both of Spanish Fort; and three grandchildren. 

Graveside services and interment will be at 3 p.m. today at Wilson Cemetery in Spanish Fort. 

Memorials may be sent to the American Lung Association. 

Arrangements were handled by Roche-Belmany-Herrington Funeral Home. 

ROBERT OWEN MCNAMARA 

DAPHNE - Robert Owen McNamara, a native of Springfield, Ill., and resident of Daphne, died Saturday at his residence. He was 69. 

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Donnell McNamara of Daphne; two sons, John Robert McNamara and Steven Michael McNamara of Springfield, Ill.; four daughters, Vicki Lynn McNamara, Melissa Ann Cimarossa and Patricia Ann Dixon of Springfield, Ill., and Theresa Lee Castles of Chandler, Ariz.; one sister, Mildred McNamara Duda of Chatam, Ill.; and 14 grandchildren. 

Private services will be held at a later date. 

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. 

Arrangements were handled by Wolfe Funeral Home & Crematory in Fairhope. 
 

JAMES W. NELSON 

DAPHNE — James W. Nelson, a native and resident of Daphne, died Saturday at a local hospital. He was 77. 

Nelson is survived by his wife, Doris G. Nelson of Daphne; one son, Morris Nelson of Daphne; two sisters, Madge White of Clearfield, Utah and Mildred Witherington of Daphne; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bayview Funeral Home in Daphne with the Rev. Clifford Nelson officiating. Visitation will be one hour before. Interment will be in Belforest Community Cemetery.

James Alton Crane
STOCKTON - James Alton Crane died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, at Atmore Community Hospital. Crane, 94, was a retired millwright with the Mobile Building Trade. He was a resident of Stockton. 

Survivors include two sons, Sam Crane of Atmore and Jim Crane of Dalton, Ga.; a sister, Ella Guillot of Spanish Fort; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. 

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today at Norris Funeral Home in Bay Minette. Dr. Roe Callaway and the Rev. Alex L. McCutchen will officiate with burial to follow at Stockton Memorial Cemetery.

Gary Eugene Tedder
SUMMERDALE - Gary Eugene Tedder of Summerdale, a native of Florence, S.C., died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998. He was 72 years old. 

Tedder is survived by his wife, Dorothy Tedder of Summerdale; a daughter, Donna Long of Bay St. Louis, Miss.; a son, Terry Pierce of Mobile; a brother, John Tedder of Florence, S.C.; and eight grandchildren. 

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Mack Funeral Home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday from Wynn Cemetery in Summerdale.

CUSHION, LELAND DALE

BAY MINETTE - Leland Dale Cushion of Bay Minette died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998, at Mercy Medical in Daphne. The Stockton native was a salesman for Foster Ford and the former Still Motor Co. for 26 years.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served with the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Eloise Goins Cushion of Bay Minette; a son, Rusty Cushion of Bay Minette; two daughters, Latecia C. Knight and Tammy C. Wessler, both of Bay Minette; a brother, Burl Cushion of Stockton; and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the chapel of Norris Funeral Home in Bay Minette. The Revs. Jerry Hasse, Glen Whitfield and Otis Thames will officiate.

Arrangements are by Norris Funeral Home.

HOLLIS, LULA PEARL

FOLEY - Lula Pearl Hollis, a native of Alabama and a resident of Foley, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998.

She was 83 years old.

Mrs. Hollis is survived by two sons, Gerald Hollis and Jon Hollis of Foley; two daughters, Peggy Dixon and Karen Langley of Foley; two sisters, Nora Hollis and Mazel Noel, both of Valley, Ala.; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at Baldwin Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Galilee Primitive Baptist Cemetery in Stapleton.

Arrangements are by Baldwin Funeral Home, Gulf Shores.

SAVAGE, BLANCHE L. 

BATTLES WHARF - Blanche L. Savage, a member of Twin Beech AME Zion Church, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, at Mercy Medical in Daphne. She was 102.

Mrs. Savage was a lifelong resident of Battles Wharf.

She is survived by her son, Clifton Savage of Fairhope; two grand-nephews, Livingston Clayborne and Samson Jetson; and two great-grand-nephews, Angelo Jetson and Stanley Jetson, all of Fairhope.

Visitation will be at Twin Beech AME Zion Church in Fairhope today from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service time. Interment will take place in Twin Beech Cemetery. The Rev. David Knight, pastor of Twin Beech AME Zion Church, will officiate.

Eric Anthony Elliot 

Eric Anthony "Tony" Elliot, a native of Mobile and resident of Biloxi, died Wednesday at an Ocean Springs, Miss., hospital. He was 39.

Elliot was a graduate of Mary G. Montgomery high School and was employed by the Pennzoil Corp.

He is survived by his parents, Wilson and Marion Elliot of Wilmer; two brothers, David W. Elliot of Slidell, La., and Daniel Elliot of Goshen, Ala.; one sister, Pauline Elliot of Biloxi; and other relatives.

Visitation will be today from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin St. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel, with interment in Mobile Memorial Gardens. 

Olivia Evans 

Olivia Evans, a native of Delchamps, Ala., and lifelong resident of Theodore, died Tuesday at a local nursing facility. She was 83.

Mrs. Evans was a member of New Ship A.M.E. Zion Church.

She is survived by four sons, Russell Evans, the Rev. David Evans, James Evans and Douglas Evans, all of Theodore; and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at Reese Funeral Home and from 9 until 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Park Baptist Church. Services will begin at 11 a.m., with interment in Laurendine Cemetery in Laurendine, Ala. 

Maurice T. Hardy 

Maurice Talmadge Hardy, a native of Memphis, Tenn., and resident of Mobile, died Tuesday. He was 72.

He was the owner of Alabama Gulf Services Inc. in Mobile.

He is survived by three daughters, Gray Wehrley, Mary Jones and Lynn DeMouy; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services and interment were Wednesday in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Serenity Funeral Home handled arrangements. 

Margaret B. Hearin 

Margaret Burgoyne Hearin, a native of Providence, R.I., and resident of Mobile County for over 40 years, died Tuesday at her home in Saraland. She was 74.

Mrs. Hearin spent several years doing missionary work in Arizona on Navajo Indian reservations.

She is survived by one daughter, Deborah J. Hearin of Orlando, Fla.; two sons, Kenneth Hearin of Chickasaw and Wayne Hearin of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two brothers, James Burgoyne Jr. and Albert Burgoyne; one sister, Lena Nickerson, all of Rhode Island; 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Saraland. Arrangements are by Serenity Funeral Home. 

Cody Ray Hopkins 

Cody Ray Hopkins, a resident of Mobile, died Tuesday at a local hospital. He was 2 years old.

He is survived by his parents, Tommy R. and Jamie H. Oakley of; one brother, Thomas Michael Oakley, all of Semmes; maternal grandparents, Kathie and Earl Smith and Stanley and Sue Hopkins; aunts, uncles great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins and other relatives.

Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. today at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. with interment in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Norma Humphreys 

Norma Bernadette Peneguy Humphreys, a native of New Orleans and resident of Mobile, died Tuesday in a local health-care facility. She was 88.

She is survived by one son, Edgar Otis Humphreys of Mobile; three grandchildren, one great-grandson, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Magnolia Cemetery. Arrangements are by Roche-Belmany-Herrington Funeral Home.

James R. Sullivan 

MILLRY — James Robert Sullivan, a nursing assistant at Searcy Hospital and a resident of Millry, died Monday at his residence. He was 31.

Sullivan is survived by his mother, Shirley D. Sullivan of Millry; his father, James Elvin Sullivan of Millry; two brothers, William Sullivan of Leesville, La., Samuel Sullivan of Millry; and three sisters, Melanie Sullivan of Millry, Anita Gil of Virginia Beach, Va., and Carol Vess of Tuscumbia, Ala.

Services were held Wednesday at Freeman Funeral Home in Waynesboro, Miss. Interment was in Jones-Hill Cemetery in Copeland, Ala.
 

Ruth M. Coaker

GULF SHORES — Ruth M. Coaker, a resident of Gulf Shores, died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998.

She was 81 years old.

Mrs. Coaker graduated from Orrville High School in Ohio and received her nursing degree from St. Luke's Nursing Training School in Cleveland . She was an ensign in the Navy Nurse Corps during World War II.

She was a member of Gulf Shores Presbyterian Church and Gulf Shores Presbyterian Women's Auxiliary.

Mrs. Coaker is survived by her husband, George "G.L." Coaker of Gulf Shores; two daughters, Karen Gudgen of Tampa, Fla., and Ruth Ann Hiebl of Foley; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Bayview Funeral Home in Foley. Memorial services will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

After the memorial service family members will be hosts of a reception at the home of Ruth Ann Hiebl, 608 East Myrtle St. in Foley.

Arrangements are by Bayview Funeral Home, Foley.

Charles Robert Combs

FOLEY — Charles Robert Combs, a native of Geraldine, Ala., and a resident of Foley, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998.

He was 61 years old.

Combs is survived by his wife, Sylvia Combs of Foley; two sons, Brian Combs and John Combs, both of Foley; four brothers, Aaron Combs of Big Spring, Texas, Butch Combs of La Place, La., Jerry Combs of Rainesville, Ala., and Wayne Combs of Gurley, Ala.; two sisters, Judy Rowell of Geraldine, Ala., and Sue Wilkerson of Atlanta; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley. Memorial services will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Disabled American Veterans organization.

Stella Margaret Harrison

STAPLETON — Stella Margaret Harrison, a native of Dixie, Ala., and resident of Stapleton, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, in a Mobile nursing facility. She was 95.

Mrs. Harrison retired from Brookley Air Force Base, where she worked as a seamstress inspector. She was a member of Stapleton Methodist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Willodeyne M. Johnson of Mobile; two grandsons; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. Friday at Stapleton Methodist Church. Services will begin at 2 p.m., with burial in the church cemetery.

Arrangements are by Pine Crest Funeral Home in Mobile. 

DAVID BRIAN McCANTS

FAIRHOPE — David Brian McCants died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, following a traffic accident in Fairhope.

McCants, 37, was a native and resident of Fairhope. He was a 1979 graduate of Fairhope High School.

Survivors include his wife, Amy F. McCants of Fairhope; a son, David Miles McCants of Fairhope; his mother, Marianne D. McCants of Point Clear; his grandmother, Marie B. DeVan of Fairhope; two brothers, Daniel E. McCants and William S. McCants, both of Fairhope; and a sister, Debra G. McCants of Silverhill.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Francis at the Point Traditional Episcopal Church. Bishop Charles E. Morley will officiate. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 9 S. Florida St., Mobile, Ala. 36606.

James R. Rising

SPANISH FORT — James R. Rising, a resident of Spanish Fort, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, at Thomas Hospital.

He was 57 years old.

Rising graduated from the University of Michigan and was a captain in the Air Force for seven years.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Rising of Spanish Fort; a daughter, Brenda McDonnell of Ocala, Fla.; his mother, Florence Rising of Daphne; and one grandson.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Daphne.

Funeral arrangements are by Bayview Funeral Home in Daphne.
