Thomas Griffin Foster

GULF SHORES — Thomas Griffin Foster, a native of Kittenning, Pa., and a resident of Gulf Shores, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998.

He was 64 years old.

Foster is survived by a brother, Charles Foster of Fort Worth, Texas; a niece, Kimberly Porter; a nephew, Robert Foster; and a great-niece, Kara Porter, all of Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 4:30 today at Baldwin Funeral Home in Gulf Shores. Burial will be in Kittenning Cemetery in Kittenning, Pa.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Community Hospice, 1113-B McKenzie St., Foley, AL 36535.

Arrangements are by Baldwin Funeral Home.

Willie Mae McCall

BAY MINETTE — Willie Mae McCall, 68, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, at Mobile Infirmary. The Fort Deposit native was a member of the Bay Minette Church of God in Christ.

She is survived by three daughters, Annice Ruffin and Stephanie Killings of Bay Minette and Ruby Washington of Fairhope; four sons, Randy McCall of Perdido, Willie McCall of Green Mountain, S.C., Frank McCall Jr. of Stockton and Jimmy McCall of Bay Minette.

Visitation will be tonight, from 6 to 8, at Bay Minette Church of God in Christ. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the church and burial follows at Ramah Baptist Church Cemetery in Fort Deposit.

Arrangements are by Baldwin Community Chapel in Bay Minette.

James Page Jr.

FOLEY — The funeral service for James Page Jr. of Foley will be held at 1 p.m. today at Little Rock Baptist Church in Foley, following visitation that begins at 11 a.m.

The Rev. L. Parrott will officiate and burial follows at Little Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.

Page, 21, died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998.

Survivors include two brothers, Marvin Page and Danielle Page; and two sisters, Voneka Reed and Rita Page.

Doyle R. Hester 

Doyle Reese Hester, a Mobile native who resided in Eight Mile, died Friday at a local health care facility. He was 65. 

He is survived by his wife, Janice West Hester of Eight Mile; three sons, Brian Lloyd Hester of Eight Mile, Doyle Reese Hester Jr. of Chickasaw and Donald Ray Hester of Tennessee; a daughter, Theresa Hester of Eight Mile; three brothers, William Lloyd Hester of Chickasaw, Joseph Hester of North Carolina and Charles Hester of California; three sisters, Francis Marshall and Edna Earl Powell, both of Florida, and Doris Chadwell of Mobile; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. 

Visitation is to be today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home, followed by graveside services at Valhalla Memorial Gardens. 

Kenneth Youngblood Sr. 

Kenneth E. Youngblood Sr., who was retired as general manager of the Pulp and Paper Chemicals Division at American Cyanamid Co., died Saturday at a local health care facility. He was 86. 

Youngblood, a longtime resident of Mobile, was a native of Nekoosa, Wis. 

He is survived by his wife, Hallie Youngblood of Mobile; two sons, Kenneth E. Youngblood Jr. of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Gregory A. Youngblood of Battle Creek, Mich.; a daughter, Jill A. Clapes of Maui, Hawaii; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. 

Graveside services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Old Spring Hill Cemetery.

Horace Greeley McInnish 

Horace Greeley McInnish, 78, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, at Andalusia Hospital. McInnish was a veteran of World War II and was the owner and bottler of a soft-drink company until his retirement. 

Survivors include his wife, Betty Sue McInnish of Andalusia; two sons, Dr. Carl McInnish of Brewton and Dr. Bill McInnish of Bay Minette; a daughter, Marilyn Williams of Montgomery; a sister, Ray Bernice McCubbin of Dothan; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. 

The funeral was held Friday at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Bruce Chapman officiating. Burial followed at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home in Andalusia directing. 
 

Gordon Kendrick 

Gordon Kendrick, a native of Baldwin County and resident of Robertsdale, died Sunday. He was 75. 

He is survived by his wife, Treva Kendrick of Robertsdale; and one stepdaughter, Cindy Adams of Robertsdale. 

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 tonight at Mack Funeral Home in Robertsdale. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. David McVay officiating. Interment will be in the Hinote Cemetery, Styx River Community, in Robertsdale. Arrangements by Mack Funeral Home in Robertsdale. 
 

Mattie L. McGugin 

Mattie L. McGugin, a native of Conecuh County and resident of Fairhope, died Saturday at a local health care facility. She was 67. 

Mrs. McGugin is survived by her husband, Leon McGugin of Fairhope; six daughters, Barbara Ann Byrd of Stapleton, Sandra Daugherty of Foley, Mona Thomas of Loxley, Deborah Mosley of Stapleton, Donna Harbin of Fairhope and Regina McGugin of Fairhope; one son, Larry McGugin of Fairhope; one sister, Mae Hornaday of Monroeville; one brother, Quinton Howington of Lenox; 19 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. 

Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Dr. Stan Weatherford and the Rev. A. B. Sawyer officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope. Arrangements by Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope.
 

SAMUEL HAZEN PEADEN 

DYAS - Samuel Hazen Peaden died Sunday, Aug. 23, 1998, at his residence in the Dyas community near Bay Minette. 

Peaden, 60, was an electrician at B.E. & K. Construction Co. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Baldwin Masonic Lodge #142 in Stockton. 

He is survived by his wife, Dale Peaden of Dyas; daughter, Ida Kelsay of Bay Minette; his mother, Leola Peaden of Bay Minette; three brothers, Leslie B. Peaden of Albuquerque, N.M., Paul P. Peaden of Repton and Floyd B. Peaden of Pine Grove; seven sisters, Opal Ray and Betty Lycans of Bay Minette, Mary Brookshire of Taylorsville, Ky., Elizabeth Hammond of Florala, Frances Stewart of Stockton, Barbara Durant of Crossroads and Catherine Fowler of Louisville, Ky. 

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. today at Brady Cemetery. The Rev. Hunter Hall will officiate and Masonic services will be conducted at graveside by Baldwin Lodge #142 of Stockton with past Master Tucker Kelso presiding.

Everett Alford Jr. 

Everett Lee Alford Jr., who retired from Keesler Air Force Base where he worked in the U.S. Civil Service, died Sunday at his home. 

Alford, 74, a native of Leakesville, Miss., was a longtime Mobile resident. 

He served for 10 years in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. 

Survivors include three sons, David L. Alford, Richard Earl Alford and Mark A. Alford, all of Mobile; two daughters, Barbara A. Dreibelbis and Darlene Evans, both of Mobile; two brothers, Mayburn E. Alford of York, Ala., and W.C. "Dutch" Alford of Mobile; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. 

Visitation is to be today from noon to 2 p.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, with graveside services set for 3 p.m. at Serenity Memorial Gardens. 

Norman S. Dean 

Norman Smith Dean, a veteran of World War II, died Monday at a local hospital. 

Dean, 77, a native of Danielson, Conn., resided in Mobile for 22 years. He had served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force. 

He was a life member of Westfield Congregational Church in Danielson and a member of Spring Hill Presbyterian Church. 

A Mason, he was past master and a past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star. 

Survivors include his wife, Janet Donahue Dean of Mobile; two daughters, Karolyn Dean Martin of Mobile and Linda Jacqueline Nichols of Danielson; a sister, Priscilla Davis of Danielson; and four grandchildren. 

A memorial service is set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Spring Hill Presbyterian Church. Private burial will take place at a later date in Connecticut. 

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Zachary Fowler II 

Zachary Evans Fowler II, born June 4, died Saturday in a local hospital. 

Survivors include his parents, Alice Johnston and Zachary Evans Fowler, both of Mobile; maternal grandparents, Alma and Johnny Johnston of Mobile; paternal grandparents, Rosemary Fell, and Renee and William Fowler all of Mobile; maternal great-grandparents, Alice Johnston; paternal great-grandparents, L.W. and Nellie Fell of Florida. 

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street, followed by graveside services in Whistler Cemetery-Wilson Annex at 2 p.m. 

Thelma I. Kountz 

Thelma I. Hudson Kountz, a native and resident of Mobile, died Monday. 

Mrs. Kountz, 74, was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. 

She is survived by her husband, William J. Kountz of Mobile; a daughter, Donna Smith of Mobile; a sister, Mary Nell Scroggins of Mobile; two grandchildren;and three great-grandchildren. 

Visitation is to be this eve ning from 5 to 8 at Roche-Belmany-Herrington Funeral Home, with a Christian wake service at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial is set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, with burial at Mobile Memorial Gardens. 

Geriod A. Solomon 

Geriod Antonio Solomon of Mobile died Friday in a local hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 24. 

Survivors include his mother, Darlene H. Solomon; his father, Earnest Solomon; two sisters, Darlecha Solomon and Belinda Brown; a brother, Roderick Solomon; his grandmother, Rebecca Solomon; and his great-grandmother, Sallie Robinson. 

Visitation is to be today from noon to 5 p.m. at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. A second visitation is to be Wednesday after 10 a.m. at Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church, 1012 Adams St., where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until services begin at noon. Burial be at Oaklawn Cemetery. 
 

Elbert Middleton Sr. 

JACKSON, Ala. - Elbert Bertrum Middleton Sr., a former welder who had worked for the state and for Olin Chemical, died Sunday at a Jackson hospital. He was 80. 

Middleton, a native of Hawthorne, Ala., resided in Jackson and was a member of Walker Springs Road Baptist Church. 

Survivors include his wife, Ernestine Middleton of Jackson; three sons, Elbert Middleton Jr. of Satsuma, Floyd Middleton and Marvin Middleton, both of Jackson; a daughter, Carol Turner of Hawthorne; a sister, Clemie Rae McGallagher of Bayou La Batre; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. 

Services are set for 2 p.m. today at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson, with burial at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Jackson. 
 

Frances E. Henson 

FRANKVILLE, Ala. - Frances Elizabeth Henson, a Frankville homemaker, died Sunday at a Washington County Hospital. 

Mrs. Henson, 97, was a native of Frankville. 

Survivors include her brother, Eli Goldman of Saraland; her sister, Minnie Sullivan of Chickasaw; nine grandchildren; the granddaughter-in-law who served as her caretaker, Elizabeth Moseley of Frankville; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. 

Services are set for 10 a.m. today at New Hope Methodist Church, with burial at the church cemetery in Frankville.

Holly N. McDonald 

NEW IBERIA, La. - Holly Nichole McDonald, born June 1 in New Iberia, died at her New Iberia home Saturday. 

Survivors include her parents, Rebeka and Trent "Peanut" McDonald of New Iberia; her brother, Gage McDonald of New Iberia; her grandfather, Eddie Burell of Chatom, Ala.; and her great-grandparents, Alice and Homer Sandiford of New Iberia. 

Services are set for 11 a.m. today at Spring Bank Baptist Church, with burial at Fairhope Baptist Cemetery in Chatom.
