Alabama, U.S., County Marriage Records, 1805-1967 - 1814-1935

WHITLEY
02-27-2004

Services for Fred D. Whitley, 81, were at 11 a.m. Feb. 23 at West Side Baptist Church with Rev. Truman Norred officiating. Burial was in Green lawn Memorial Gardens with K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center in charge.

Mr. Whitley died Feb. 20 at his home.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Herring Whitley of Jacksonville; a son, Dana Allen Whitley of Jacksonville; a granddaughter and her husband, Melisha E. and Tracey White, and two great-grandchildren, Hayden White and Jared White.

Pallbearers were Ed Cullins, Neal Estes, Gene Lockette, Brice Hay, David Griffin and Fred Bundrum. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Senior Men’s Sunday School Class at West Side Baptist Church.

Mr. Whitley was a member of West Side Baptist Church. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II. He was the chief of building and structure engineers at Fort McClellan prior to his retirement in 1977. He enjoyed woodworking and being with his grandchildren. He was an avid Alabama football fan.

FORD
03-04-2004

Services for Tony Wayne Ford, 49, were at 2 p.m. March 2 at K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel with Rev. Norman Smith officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mr. Ford died Feb. 28 at Jacksonville Medical Center.

Survivors include his father, Eugene Ford of Jacksonville; a son, Aaron J. Ford of Jacksonville; two brothers, William Lamar Ford of Pulaski, Fla., and Donnie Ray Ford of Ragland; an aunt, Hazel Parks of Huntsville; a special friend, Nikki Gorey and five nieces and two nephews.

Mr. Ford was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County. He was a self-employed land surveyor, a member of ASPLA, and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Anniston Lodge. He was preceded in death by his mother, Oma Lee Ford, and a brother, Clifford E. “Snooky” Ford Jr.

PHILLIPS
03-04-2004

Services for Charles R. Phillips, 71, were at 2 p.m. at Asberry Baptist Church Feb. 28 with Rev. William Cain officiating. Burial was in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery with K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center in charge.

Mr. Phil-lips died Feb. 26 at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center in Anniston.

Survivors include his wife, Anneliese Phillips; a daughter and son-in-law, Eva and Mark Johnson of Piedmont; three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles T. and Olivia Phillips of Conyers, Ga., Peter and Jennifer Phillips of Prattville and Luie Phillips of Jacksonville; six sisters, Beulah Pruitt and Jeanette Chandler, both of Jacksonville, Clara Jennings of Birmingham, Charlene Young of Rome, Ga., Jewel Green of Deep Gap, N.C., and Ruth Cook of Lithonia, Ga.; and four brothers, James Phillips of Piedmont, Zack Phillips of Duluth, Ga., Charles A. Phillips of Jacksonville and Paul Phillips of Trussville.

Pallbearers were grandsons and nephews.

Mr. Phillips was a member of Asberry Baptist Church. He served in the Army 27 years and owned Phillips and Sons HVAC for 25 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Grant and Ila B. Shealy.

PARKER
03-26-2004

Graveside services for infant Chloe Marie Parker were at 11 a.m. March 19 at Anniston Memorial Gardens with Anniston Funeral Home in charge.

The infant died March 16 at Jacksonville Medical Center.

Survivors include her mother, Lori O’Connor of Jacksonville; her father, Charles Parker of Jacksonville; a brother, Jonathan Parker of Jacksonville; her grandparents, Michael O’Connor, Robin O’Connor and Ellen Parker; a great-grandmother, an aunt and two uncles.

WILSON
03-26-2004

Graveside services for Wayne Wilson, 77, of Wauchula, Fla., were at 1:30 p.m. March 23 at Wauchula Cemetery with Duck Smith, James Grace and Richard Paasch officiating. Roberts Family Funeral Home was in charge.

Mr. Wilson died March 19 in Wauchula.

Survivors include his wife, Mary E. Wilson; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Elaine and Terry Parris of Jacksonville, Becky Hulsey of Wauchula, Paula Wilson of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., and Beth and Jason Gainous of Wauchula; grandchildren, Cynthia Chappell and husband Jeff, Traci Briggs and husband Alan, Dwayne Hulsey and wife Susan, Amy McQuaig, Leigh Hulsey, Amanda Gibson and husband Daniel, Rosie Wendell, Ellie Eagle, Kevin Walker, Tracy Patterson, Wilson and Jessica Bembry and Nicholas Ganious; and great-grandchildren, Whitney, Austin and Laynie Chappell, Andy Parris, Jordan Estes, Jacob Briggs, Taylor Hulsey, Michael and Justin Forrester, Brian McQuaig, Kaylee Gibson and Casey and Jay Patterson.

Mr.Wilson was born in Jacksonville and moved to Wauchula in 1968.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Wauchula and was a machinist. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, P. O. Box 1884, Sebring, Fla. 33871.

GILLESPIE
03-11-2004

Services for Patricia Lee Gillespie, 76, will be at 1 p.m. March 10 at First Baptist Church with Revs. Bob Ford and Bert Breland officiating. Burial will be in Green lawn Memorial Gardens. K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center is in charge.

Mrs. Gillespie died March 8 at Jacksonville Medical Center.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Billy Baker of Piedmont and Tina and Robert Auchenpaugh of Powder Springs, Ga.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Diane Gillespie of Blytheville, Ark. and Paul and Sandy Gillespie of Centerville, La.; a brother, Dr. George G. Willis of New Orleans; seven grandchildren, Ann Motes, Amy Baker, Anna Auchenpaugh, Alyssa Auchenpaugh, Mary Gillespie, Lauren Gillespie and Stephanie Whitten and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be the Austin Sunday School Class, John Vanderford, Ed Davis, Bill Blount, Bill McPherson, James Brown, Marion Rollins, Arvid Padgett and Bob Crossley. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Senior Men’s Sunday School Class and Gleaners Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Gillespie taught kindergarten at First Presbyterian Church.

She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Gleaners Sunday School Class and the Keenagers. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Hines Gillespie, and a daughter, Janice Gillespie.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society, 1201 Parkwood Drive, Anniston 36201, Big Oak Boys Ranch, P. O. Box 507, Springville 35146, or First Baptist Church Ramp Fund, P. O. Box 400, Jacksonville 36265.
