Harvey
10-08-2004

PIEDMONT – Services for Thelma W. Harvey, 86, of Piedmont will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home with Revs. Derek Smith and Don Henley officiating. Burial will be in Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Harvey died Wednesday at Piedmont Health Care Center.

Survivors include her husband, W.R. Harvey; a daughter and her husband, Wanda Harvey and Wayne Holley of Smyrna, Tenn.; a son and his wife, Robert "Bob" and Debbie Harvey of Piedmont; a sister, Doris Luther of Smyrna; four grandchildren, Sharon Ammons and her husband, Larry, Jerrod Harvey and his wife, Ginger, Brandon Harvey and Justin Harvey; and a great-grandson.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be the Fidelis Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Harvey, a Piedmont native and lifelong resident, was a member of First Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She retired from SCT Yarn.

Flowers will be accepted, or contributions may be made to the Piedmont Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 333, Piedmont, AL 36272.

Holifield

Services for Lola B. Holifield, 77, of Anniston will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Anniston Funeral Service chapel with J.E. Merriweather officiating. Burial will be in Eden Hills Cemetery. The body will be at the chapel an hour prior to services.

Mrs. Holifield died Saturday at Beckwood Manor.

Survivors include three daughters, Ethel Wells of Tuscaloosa, Mary Tucker of Canton, Mich. and Irene Holifield of Ypsilanti, Mich.; two sisters, Annie B. Johnson of Anniston and Norma N. Woods of Ypsilanti; a brother, Andy Woods of Tuscaloosa; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Mrs. Holifield, a Perry County native, lived in Anniston most of her life.

Hunt
10-08-2004

Services for Thomas L. Hunt, 50, of Anniston will be announced by Anniston Funeral Service.

Mr. Hunt died Thursday at his home.

Hunter

GAYLESVILLE – Services for Charlotte G. Hunter, 55, of Gaylesville will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Jordan Funeral Home in Centre with Revs. Allen Carr and Billy Saxon officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery at Rinehart. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hunter died Wednesday at Cherokee Baptist Medical Center.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Ray Hunter; six sisters, Linda Smith of Fort Payne, Wilma Epps of Gaylesville, Sloma Ray of Cedar Bluff, and Viola Moses, Liley McKinsey and Edith Smith, all of Tennessee; four brothers, Charles Smith and Ernest Smith, both of Fort Payne, Jerry Smith of Gadsden and James Smith of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Lee Smith, Bobby Brown, Lester Humphrey, David Mitchell and Edward Smith.

Mrs. Hunter, a Fort Payne native, was Pentecostal. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Hunter and Faye Smith; and a brother, Robin Smith.

Kirksey

Services for Cynthia Ann "Cookie"Askew Kirksey, 55, of Anniston will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Rest Haven Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Morris Weatherly officiating. Burial will be in Eden Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-7 tonight at Model City Mortuary. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Mrs. Kirksey died Saturday at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Kirksey; a son, Lee Anthony Askew; a stepdaughter, Wendy Davis; five stepsons, Larry Kirksey Jr., Spenser Jackson and his wife, Carolyn, Terry Jackson, Andrew Kirksey and his wife, Tameka, and Rodger Kirksey, all of Anniston; four sisters, Juell Jackson, Epsie Deboard, Carol Armstrong and Yvonne Hudgins and her husband, Richard, of Tampa, Fla.; two brothers, James Askew Jr. and Warren Askew and his wife, Shirlene, of Anniston; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Askew of North Carolina and Carrie Kirksey of Anniston; two brothers-in-law, Charles Kirksey and Willie Clyde Kirksey, both of Anniston; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Mrs. Kirksey, a lifelong Anniston resident, was a member of Mar’s Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ola M. and James Askew Sr.; and four brothers, Wallace Askew, Terry Askew, Tyrone Askew and Lamart Askew.

Otwell

CEDAR BLUFF – Services for Alice Louise Otwell, 76, of Cedar Bluff will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Bluff First Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Smith and Ronnie Bell officiating. Burial will be in Cherokee Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-9 tonight at Perry Funeral Home in Centre. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Mrs. Otwell died Wednesday at Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome, Ga.

Survivors include a son and his wife, James S. and Martha Watts III of Sharpsburg, Ga.; two daughters, Diana Elrod and her husband, Glen, and Kay Walker, all of Cedar Bluff; three grandchildren, Larry Beebe III and his wife, Salena, Hunter Walker and Angie Latty; three great-grandchildren, and a special friend, Larry Leslie.

Pallbearers will be Royce Latty, Johnnie Quentine Schrader, Johnny McPherson, Gerald Green, Billy Tyson and Bill Harwood.

Mrs. Otwell, a Polk County, Ga. native, was a member of Cedar Bluff First Baptist Church. She retired from J.C. Penney and volunteered as a pink lady at Cherokee County Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl R. Otwell.

Power

ALPINE – Graveside services for Joseph Kenneth Power, 84, of Alpine will be 1 p.m. today at Purcell-Parker Cemetery in Fayetteville with Rev. Bob Blackwell officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Mr. Power died Wednesday at Baptist Medical Center Montclair.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Power; two sons and their wives, Joe and Pam Power of Annandale, Va., and Craig and Tammy Power of Munford; and two granddaughters, Sara Power and Emily Power.

Honorary pallbearers will be members and former members of Talladega Municipal Airport Board.

Mr. Power, a Talladega County native, was a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church. A World War II and Korean War veteran, he was a pilot for Pan-American Airlines and served 20 years for Federal Aviation Administration and was an engineer and safety officer for Talladega Municipal Airport. He was a member of District of Columbia Board of Professional Engineers and the National Academy of Scientists.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Peters Episcopal Church.
