Mildred Kelley Moore
Mildred Kelley Moore, 80, of Andalusia, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, in an Opp hospital. She was the daughter of the late Lizzie Kelley of Opp and the late Shelton F. Kelley. She was a homemaker and retired from Alatex, Inc. after 30 years of service. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 19 at 11:00 a.m from Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William Goodson and Rev. Junior Goolsby presiding. Burial will follow at Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Sept, 14 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

James Cravey
James Cravey of Florala passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2000 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born August 16, 1919, and was known for his abilities and personality as a farmer, rancher, hunter and friend to everyone in Southern Alabama. James was a key member of New Hope Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 19 at 11 a.m. at new Hope Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at Evans Funeral home in Florala on Thursday, Sept. 14, from 6p.m. to 8 p.m.

Margariet Chandler Martin
Margariet Chandler Martin, of Thomasville, Ga., formerly of Andalusia, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, in Thomasville.Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Foreman Funeral Home.

Myrtle Lou Wallace
Myrtle Lou Wallace, 84, of Opp, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, in an Opp hospital. A funeral will be held Friday, Sept. 8 at 10 a.m. at Wyatt Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Peaceful Acres Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.

“Armadillo” Jim Gibson
“Armadillo” Jim Gibson, 86, of Red Level, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at his residence. A funeral will be held Thursday, Sept. 7 at 11 a.m. at Keahey Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Sylvester V. Kirkland
Sylvester V. Kirkland, 86, of Red Level, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, in a Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. hospital. A funeral will be held Thursday, Sept, 7 at 2 p.m. at Keahey Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Fairmount Church Cemetery.

Polly Harris Gunter
Polly Harris Gunter, 50, of Andalusia, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, in an Andalusia hospital. A funeral was held Wednesday, Sept. 6 at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Etheridge officiating. Burial followed in Goodhope Cemetery.

Harvie “Moze” Aughtman
Harvie “Moze” Aughtman, 86, of Selma, formerly of Andalusia, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at his residence.A funeral was held Tuesday, Sept. 5 at 2 p.m. at Keahey Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Canant officiating. Special music was provided by Marlin Dickens. Burial followed in Bethany Church Cemetery.

Jim Gibson
Jim Gibson, of red Level, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at his residence.Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Keahey Funeral Home.

Sylvester V. Kirkland
Sylvester V. Kirkland, 86, of Red Level, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, in a Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. hospital. A funeral will be held Thursday, Sept, 7 at Keahey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Polly Harris Gunter
Polly Harris Gunter, 50, of Andalusia, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, in an Andalusia hospital.A funeral will be held Wednesday, Sept. 6 at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Etheridge officiating. Burial will follow in Goodhope Cemetery.

Harvie “Moze” Aughtman
Harvie “Moze” Aughtman, 86, of Selma, formerly of Andalusia, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2000, at his residence.A funeral was held Tuesday, Sept. 5 at 2 p.m. at Keahey Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Marley officiating. Special music was provided by Marlin Dickens. Burial followed in Bethany Church Cemetery.

James Winston Cobb
James Winston Cobb, 69, of Andalusia, died Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, in an Andalusia hospital. A funeral was held Monday, Sept. 4 at 4 p.m. at Keahey Funeral Home with Brother Stanley Marschalf officiating. Special music was provided by the Andalusia Hall Jehovah’s Witnessess Congregation. Burial followed in River Fall Cemetery.

Charles Suggs
Charles Suggs, 56, of Andalusia, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2000, in an Andalusia hospital. A funeral was held Monday, Sept. 4 at 10 a.m. at Wyatt Funeral Home. Burial followed in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

Mildred Jay Pruitt
Mildred Jay Pruitt, 92, of Andalusia, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, in a Montgomery hospital. Mrs. Pruitt, along with her husband were the owners of Pruitt Cleaners in Andalusia. A funeral was held Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. at Adellum Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Boles officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Foreman Funeral Home directing.

Delores Goodwin Straughn
Delores Goodwin Straughn, 67, of Andulasia, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000, at her residence. Graveside services were held Tuesday, Sept. 12 at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Rev. Billy Lucas officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requested memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.

Edward Paul Horan
Edward Paul Horan, 74, of Red Level, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, in an Andalusia Hospital. He was a veteran of WWII and a retiree of U.S. Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Fla. A funeral was held Tuesday, Sept. 12, at 11 a.m. at Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home with Minister C.H. McCrory officiating. Burial followed at Horan-Mancill Cemetery in Red Level.

Tessie Gomillion Davis
Tessie Gomillion Davis, 81, of Andalusia, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000 in an Andalusia Hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 14, at 4p.m. at Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joel Faircloth officiating. Burial will follow at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13 at Foreman Funeral Home.

R. V. Sexton
R. V. Sexton, 77, of Opp, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, at his residence. Funeral services will be Thursday, Sept. 14 at 11:00 a.m. at Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Peaceful Acres Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 13 at Wyatt Funeral Home.

Marguerite Chandler Martin, 89, of Thomasville, Ga., formerly of Andalusia, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, in a Quitman, Ga. hospital. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Andalusia. A funeral will be held Saturday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Sharpe officiating. Burial will follow in Coldwater Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Andrew Jackson (Jack) Cook
Andrew Jackson (Jack) Cook, 71, of Red Level, died Wednesday, September 6, 2000 in an Opp nursing facility. Born in Newton, he moved to Dothan at an early age. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the Korean Conflict. Working in his father’s business at Southeastern Publishing, before he moved to Andalusia in 1968, when he started the Covington Printing Company, where he worked until the last year of his life. He served as a past president of the Kiwanis Club of Andalusia, the Lion’s Club of Opp, and he was a member of Lafayette Street United Methodist Church. Memorial service will be held Saturday, September 9 at 10 a.m. at Byrd Funeral Home in Dothan with Rev. Randy Woodham officiating. Burial will follow at a later date. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Edward Paul Horan
Edward Paul Horan, 74, of Red Level, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, in an Andalusia hospital. A funeral will be held Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 11 a.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Minister C.H. McCory. Burial will follow in Horan-Mancil Cemetery in Red Level. Visitation will be Monday after 6 p.m.

“Armadillo” Jim Gibson
“Armadillo” Jim Gibson, 86, of Red Level, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, at his residence. Known as “Armadillo” Jim for his skill of making armadillo traps and his success as an armadillo catcher, he was instrumental for the beginning of the Annual Red Level Armadillo Festival. For the past 25 years, he served as chairman of Beat 11 Democratic Committee. He was an active member of the Mott Church of Christ. A funeral was held Thursday, Sept. 7 at 11 a.m. at Keahey Funeral Home with Minister C.H. McCory and Rev. J.T. Castleberry officiating. Special music provided by Francis Johnston, Elbert Craig, and Randy Nixon. Burial followed in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Buddy King officiating and special music by Carolyn Wilson and Robert Gafford, accompanied by Bertie Mae Smith. Burial followed in Smith Cemetery.

Joan H. Mac Lean, 86, of Dozier, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000 in an Andalusia hospital. She was a native of Herne, Germany.Graveside services were held Wednesday, Aug. 30 at 1 p.m. at Andalusia Memorial Cemtery with Rev. Dennis Knowles officiating and Foreman Funeral Home directing.

John Hoyt Dollar
John Hoyt Dollar, 80, of Samson, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000 in a Geneva hospital.A native of Hackleburg, he was a retired airplane mechanic and served in the US Air Force.A funeral will be held Sunday, Sept. 3 at 2 p.m. at Wyatt Funeral Home with Rev. Frankie Leonard officiating. Burial will follow in Peaceful Acres Cemtery.
