Robert Franklin “Bobby” Walker, 66, of Andalusia, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, in an Opp nursing facility. A funeral was held Friday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. Joel Faircloth and Rev. Bob Randall officiating. Burial followed in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Music provided by Frankie Lancaster, Sara Robinson, Samantha Pollock and Chris Randall accompanied by Jeanice Kirkland.

Ruth S. Pifer
Ruth S. Pifer, 81, of Andalusia, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, in a Georgia hospital. A funeral will be held Monday, Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. at First Congregational Church, Dunson St. with Rev. J.T. Castleberry. Burial will follow in the Red Oak Cemetery with Foreman Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and at the church 30 minutes prior to service.

Hollis Adams
Hollis Adams, 76, of Andalusia, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, in a Dothan hospital. A funeral will be held Saturday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m.

Daniel Ed Powell
Daniel Ed Powell, 75, of Andalusia, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at his residence. A funeral will be held Friday, Dec. 7 at 3:30 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. Edward Ganus and Rev. Charles Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Stone Lake Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1:30 until time of service.

Wanda Sowell
Wanda Sowell, 52, of Andalusia, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at her residence. A funeral will be held Friday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Miller officiating. Burial will follow in New Home Congregational Church Cemetery.

Effie T. Harrelson
Effie T. Harrelson, 91, a long-time resident of Searight, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, in an Andalusia hospital. Graveside services will be held Friday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Edwin Patterson and Rev. Byron Hogg officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the charity or church of one’s choice.

Alan Mullins
Alan Mullins, 45, of Auburn, formerly of Andalusia, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001. Born in Andalusia on January 31, 1956, he was preceded in death by his father, Luther Cross Mullins. Graveside services were held Monday, Dec. 3 at 1 p.m. at Andalusia Memorial Gardens with Rev. John Dale Rector officiating and Frederick’s Funeral Home of Opelika directing.

L.C. Dubose
L.C. Dubose, 73, of Andalusia, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, in a local hospital. A longtime resident of Santa Rosa County, He was born May 28, 1928 in Opp. He served in Japan after World War II as Army Engineer PFC with the 2nd Armory Division. Mr. Dubose worked as a mechanic of various construction jobs. A funeral will be held Friday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home of Milton, Fla., with Elder Jay Blocker and Elder Wayne Blocker officiating. Burial will follow in the Crain Cemetery.

Hugh Harris
Hugh Harris, 83, of Dozier, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, in a Montgomery nursing facility. Graveside services will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m. at Pilgrim Rest Cemetery of Dozier with Rev. Max Lisenby officiating and Foreman Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Velma Higdon Terry
Velma Higdon Terry, 95, of Pell City, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Red Level and served as the Post Mistress at the Red Level Post Office for five years. She was also a member of the Red Level Womens Club. Graveside services will be held Sunday, Nov. 18, at 2 p.m. at Fairmount Cemetery with Rev. A.L. Courtney officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Red Level. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alabama Baptist Childrens Home and Family Ministry, P.O. Box 361767, Birmingham, AL 35236-1767.

James Larry Ray
James Larry Ray, 56, of Andalusia, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, in a Pensacola, Fla. hospital. A funeral will be held Friday, Nov. 9, at 2 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. Lavon Burke officiating. Burial will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Mattie Wells on the Moore Road Extension.

Mildred Hollinghead Gatlin
Mildred Hollinghead Gatlin, 83, of Opp, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, in Opp. A funeral was held Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 10 a.m. at Sweetwater Baptist Church of Opp with Minister Donald Hall officiating. Burial followed in Sweetwater Baptist Church Cemetery with Wyatt Funeral Home directing.

Hester Beatrice Willcutt
Hester Beatrice Willcutt, 86, of Andalusia, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, in an Andalusia hospital. A funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 10, at 11 a.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Beda Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 9, from 6 to 9 p.m.

James Wood Cheshire
James Wood Cheshire, 79, of Andalusia, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at his residence. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Foreman Funeral Home.

Nina Robinson King
Nina Robinson King, 80, of Bessemer, formerly of Andalusia, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001. She was a member of Hoover First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald King. A funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 10, at 11 a.m. at Rideout’s Southern Heritage Chapel with burial in Hoover First United Methodist Church Cemetery. Ben Padgett officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association of Alabama. Rideout’s Southern Heritage directing.

Addie Sue “Suzy” Taylor Callen
Addie Sue “Suzy” Taylor Callen, 45, of Andalusia, formerly of New York, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, in a local hospital. A funeral was held Sunday, Jan. 6, at 2 p.m. at Keahey Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Turman officiating. Special music was provided by a niece, Laurell Taylor accompanied by Conrad Taylor. Burial followed in Good Hope Cemetery.

Brendan Tyler Clark
Brendan Tyler Clark, 24, of Red Level, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, in Escambia County. A funeral was held Saturday, Jan. 5, at 2 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Frank Shafer, Tim Morgan and Ben May officiating. Special music was provided by guitarist, David Kelley. Burial followed in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

Carrie Lee Palmer Vick
Carrie Lee Palmer Vick, 84, of Andalusia, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Vick. She was employed at Opp Micholas Mills, Alatex and later owned and operated West Highland Grocery Store with her husband. Graveside services were held Saturday, Jan. 5, at 3:30 p.m. at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Billy Boles and Rev. Judd Stinson officiating. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Comfort Care Hospice, 501 E. Commerce St., Greenville, AL 36037; First United Methodist Church Building Find; American Cancer Society; or the charity of one’s choice.

Mary B. Murphy
Mary B. Murphy, 82, of Andalusia, died Monday, January 7, 2002, in a Pensacola, Fla., nursing facility. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Keahey Funeral Home.

Carrie Lee Palmer Vick, 84, of Andalusia, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Vick. Syble Wiggins Rogers, 80, of Andalusia, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at her residence. A funeral will be held Thursday, Jan. 10, at 2 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Brother Monroe Sasser, Rev. Bill Butler and Brother Camp Sasser officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Countryside Hospice.

Mary B. Murphy, 82, of Andalusia, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, in a Pensacola, Fla., nursing facility. A funeral will be held Thursday, Jan. 10, at 2 p.m. at Keahey Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

Lena Chisum Davenport
Lena Chisum Davenport, 84, of Andalusia, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at her residence. A funeral was held Monday, Dec. 31, at Keahey Funeral Home with Rev. John Foster, Rev. Joel Faircloth and Rev. Alton Easley officiating. Special music was provided by Don Lingle accompanied by Jeanice Kirkland. Burial followed in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 400 Vestavia Parkway, Suite 130, Birmingham, AL 35216 or to the A.L.S. Foundation C/O U.A.B. Hospital, 1230 Administration, 701 S. 20th St., Birmingham, AL 35294-0112.

W.R. Duke
W.R. Duke, 76, of Andalusia, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, in a Montgomery hospital after an extended illness. A funeral will be held Thursday, Jan. 3, at 11 a.m. at Keahey Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Judson Church Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Faye Teate
Faye Teate, 48, of Troy, formerly of Red Level, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at a son’s residence in Troy. Graveside services will be held Thursday, Jan. 3, at 2 p.m. at Antioch Methodist Church cemetery in Conecuh County with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

James Ronald Scroggins
James Ronald Scroggins, 52, of Andalusia, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, in an Andalusia hospital. A funeral will be held Friday, Jan. 4, at 11 a.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. John McGukin officiating. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 3, after 5:30 p.m.

James Stewart “Dink” Foshee
James Stewart “Dink” Foshee, 63, of Red Level, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, in and Andalusia hospital. Graveside services will be held Thursday, Jan. 3, at 11 a.m. at Long Branch Cemetery with Rev. Thomas Castleberry officiating.

Edward McKendrick Pace
Edward McKendrick Pace, 81, of Andalusia, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at his residence. Mr. Pace grew up in New Harmony, Ind. and was a resident of Andalusia for the last 10 years. Mr. Pace retired as a Division Manager for Koehring, Inc. in Port Washington, Wisc. He was a member of The First United Methodist Church in Andalusia and a 3rd Degree Mason of Artic Lodge #394 in New Harmony, Ind. A funeral will be held Thursday, Jan. 3, at 10 a.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. Judd Stinson officiating. Eulogy will presented by Mac Pace, grandson. Graveside services will be held Saturday, Jan. 5, at 2 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery in New Harmony, Ind.

Dr. Edward Ayers Dannelly, III
Dr. Edward Ayers Dannelly, III, 54, died January 1, 2002. Born December 15, 1947, in Alexandria, Va., he was the son of the late Edward Ayers Dannelly Jr. and Mary Elizabeth (Twinkle) Burns Dannelly. Ed Dannlley Jr. was editor and publisher of the Andalusia Star News for over 20 years. He was active in Boy Scouts, earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was awarded the Order of the Arrow. He was valedictorian of the 1966 class at Andalusia High School. After attending Davidson College, he attended the University of Alabama Medical School in Birmingham, where he was a member of the AOA honor medical society and graduated third in his class. Dr. Dannelly completed a general surgery internship and a four-year orthopedic residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Following his residency, he practiced orthopedics at the Athens, Ga. Orthopedic Clinic with his father-in-law, Dr. Hugh Brady Haston Jr. In 1979 he established the first orthopedic surgery practice in Galax, Va., which he enjoyed until his retirement in October of 2000. Dr. Dannelly was a strong proponent of physical fitness in both his personal and professional lives. He successfully completed both the 1997 and 2000 Marine Corps Marathons. In the year 2000, the Virginia State Parks System began construction on the Edward A. Dannelly, III Fitness Complex to honor Ed’s contributions to his community. The Dannelly Fitness Complex opened in the fall of 2001. Visitation with the family is scheduled for 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at the First United Methodist Church of Galax. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Jan. 6, at the First Baptist Church of Galax. There will be a private burial for the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Boy Scout Troop 46, in care of Andalusia First United Methodist Church; the Edward A. Dannelly III Fitness Complex, Cliffview Ranger Station, 415 Cliffview Road, Galax, Va, 24333; or the charity of one’s choice.
