Alabama, U.S., County Marriage Records, 1805-1967 - 1814-1935

James L. Smith
James L. Smith, 78, of Andalusia, died Sunday, March 3, 2002 in an Andalusia hospital.
A veteran of WWII, he was the Registrar at LBW Junior College before his retirement.
A funeral will be held Wednesday, March 6 at 10:30 a.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. Janet Looby officiating. Music provided by Steve Hubbard, organist. Burial will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Smith of Andalusia; a daughter, Jennifer Smith; a son, Thomas M. Smith, both of Washington, D.C.; and five nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Bill Clark, Jerry Padgett, Fred Winkler, Eric Lidh, Dr. Jim Krudop and Fletcher Jones.

Mary Virginia White
Mary Virginia White, 58, of Andalusia, died Saturday, March 2, 2002 at her residence.
A funeral was held Monday, March 4 at 1 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Miller officiating. Special music was provided by the Southside Baptist Church Choir. Burial followed in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include her husband, James Rudolph White; two daughters and a son-in-law, Cynthia and Randy Nelson and Sandra White Kyser, all of Andalusia; five brothers, Jerry Piland, Johnny Piland, Tyler Piland, all of Opp, Alfred Piland of Red Level and Lonnie Piland of Ft. Walton, Fla.; a sister, Carolyn Perdue of Fayetteville, Ga.; and four grandchildren, Toshia White, Brandon Kyser, Jamie Kyser and Joshua Taylor Nelson.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tonya Marie Godwin.
Pallbearers were Kevin Perdue, Andy Higgs, Greg Piland, Stacy Williamson, Wesley Thompson and Keith Williams.

Joan Ingram Darby
Joan Ingram Darby, 56, of Andalusia, died Sunday, March 3, 2002 in a local hospital after an extended illness.
A member of the First United Methodist Church, the Ladies Luncheon Pilot Club, she was Director of Patient Services for Gentiva Health Care before her illness forced her to retirement.
A funeral was held Tuesday, March 5 at 2:30 p.m. at Oakey Streak Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Wagner and Rev. David Warren officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Foreman Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include two sons, Clay Darby of Andalusia and Joel Darby of Denver, Col.; her father and step-mother, Vernon and Agnes Ingram of Red Level; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha and J.W. Tipton of Newman, Ga., Debra and Billy Joe Sharpe of Red Level, Patty and Ruck Ashworth and Jenny and Paul Rogers, all of Andalusia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Darby and her mother, Ida Ingram.
Pallbearers will be cousins, Tony Ingram, Mickey Pitts, Paul Ingram, Myron Ingram, Jon Sellers, Jason Nall, Eugene Nall and Bobby Gunn. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Gentiva Health Services and the Ladies Luncheon Pilot Club.

Myrtice Williamson
Myrtice Williamson, 83, of Dozier, died Saturday, March 2, 2002 in a Mobile hospital
A funeral was held Tuesday, March 5 at 11 a.m. at Mills Chapel Church of God with Rev. Rickey Skipper and Rev. Wayne Taylor officiating. Music provided by Rev. Wayne Taylor, accompanied by Randy Skipper, pianist. Burial followed in Good Hope Cemetery with Foreman Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Lavonis Williamson of Loxley, James and Kay Williamson of Marlo, and Elmer and Karen Williamson of Eight Mile; two daughters and son-in-law, Marie and Roger Giles and Helon Williamson, all of Eight Mile; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Oscar Bozeman of Loxley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton L. Williamson and two sons, Carl Williamson and Watson Williamson.
Pallbearers were Chris Williamson, Clay Williamson, Casey Williamson, James Williamson Jr., Sterlin Giles and Russell Kolar.

Julia S. Whitsett
Julia S. Whitsett, 89, of Huntsville, died Friday, March 29, 2002.
A native of Georgia and a former resident of Montgomery, she was born in 1912 to the late Thomas Jake and Eunice Shell. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Daniel C. Whitsett. Together they served in the United Methodist Church in three different conferences over 40 years.
A memorial service will be held at Tuesday, April 2 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Montgomery with Dr. Karl Stegall officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church. Laughlin Service Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Huntingdon College or your local United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Abrames of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; two sons, Daniel C. Whitsett Jr. of Huntsville and Dr. Stan F. Whitsett of Seattle, Wash.; a brother, Thomas J. Shell of Mobile; and six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

James Macks Sr.
James Macks, Sr., 60, of Red Level, died Monday, April 1, 2002 at this residence.
A funeral will be held Wednesday, April 3 at 11 a.m. at South Church of God. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 2 at Keahey Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Macks of Red Level; a son and daughter-in-law, James Macks Jr. and Lisa Macks of Carolina community; a daughter, Brittany (Patterson) Macks of Red Level; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Norma Macks; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Theresa McPherson, Ruth and Chuck Barron, and Deloris and Roger Kervin, all of Pensacola, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Ryan, and Sabrina.

Tressie Leonard
Tressie Leonard, 90, of Florala, died Thursday, March 28, 2002 in a Dothan health care facility.
Born in Geneva County, she was the daughter of the late George and Georgia Crews Powell. A retired dietician, she was employed with Evers hospital in Andalusia and later as site manager with the Florala Senior Citizen program. She was a member of the Smyrna Baptist Church.
A funeral was held Saturday, March 30 at Evans Funeral Home in Florala with Rev. William Goodson and Rev. Randy Holtz officiating. Burial followed in the Smyrna Cemetery.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Georgia Irene and Jim Segrest of Pensacola, Fla; two sons and daughters-in-law, William F. and Joann Leonard of Birmingham and Thomas F. and Wynell Leonard of Dothan; three brothers, Andy Powell of Lucedale, Miss., George Powell Jr. of Pensacola, and Forest Powell of Sanford; four sisters-in-law, Jewell Wise, Lillie Pritchett, Lissie Mae Rhodes and Clara Kelley, all of Pensacola; two brothers-in-law, Floyd Leonard of Florala and Jack Leonard of Monticello, Miss; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Alex Leonard, two sisters, Jewell Jolt and Ola Glaze and two brothers, Ralph Powell and Edd Powell.

Cleve Harrelson Wall
Cleve Harrelson Wall, 83, longtime resident of Panama City, Fla., died Wednesday, April 3, 2002 in a Panama City nursing facility.
Graveside services will be held Friday, April 5 at 2 p.m. at the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Panama City with Jessy Stanaland officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Panama City.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Gina and Billy Green, of Andalusia and Debi and Tony Thompson of Panama City; four grandchildren, Chuck Green, Nikki Green Harris, Kevin Findley and Brent Findley; two great-grandchildren, Haley Harris and Reagan Green ; a brother, Reed Wall of Phenix City; and a sister, Mary Bell Wiggins of Andalusia.

Dolly Thompkins Pitts
Dolly Thompkins Pitts, 72, of Andalusia, died Monday, April 1, 2002, in Andalusia.
A funeral will be held Thursday, April 4 at 11 a.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. Leroy Cole officiating. Burial will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.
Flowers may be sent or memorials may be made to the Building Fund at West Highland Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Ray Pitts of Andalusia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Jane Pitts of Tuscon, Ariz. and Gary and Susan Pitts of Andalusia; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Tommy Thompkins of Enterprise and Abbott Thompkins of Geneva; four sisters, Aubrey Ballard of Andalusia, Mamie Gay of Pace, Fla., Myrtice Tyndall of Alliance, N.C. and Bonnie Gilchrist of Cironelle, Ala.
Pallbearers include Jimmy Ballard, Mike Ellis, Jerry Ellis, Johnny Jackson, Larry Jackson and Abbott Thompkins Jr..

James Macks, Sr., 60, of Red Level, died Monday, April 1, 2002 at this residence.
A funeral was held Wednesday, April 3 at 11 a.m. at South Church of God. Special music was provided by Elbert Craig, J.C. Walden, Rev. Griel Smith and JoAnn Smith. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Macks of Red Level; a son and daughter-in-law, James Jr. and Lisa Macks of Carolina community; a daughter, Brittany (Patterson) Macks of Red Level; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Norma Macks; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Theresa McPherson, Ruth and Chuck Barron, and Deloris and Roger Kervin, all of Pensacola, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Ryan, and Sabrina.
