Sara Ann Glisson
Sara Ann Glisson, 56, of Andalusia, died Thursday, April 11, 2002 in an Andalusia hospital.
A funeral was held Saturday, April 13 at 2 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Wilkinson officiating. Burial followed in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Relay for Life.
Survivors include her husband, Tommy Glisson; a daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and Dwain Davis, all of Andalusia; a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Mindell Glisson of Opp; two grandchildren, Bolton Davis and Sara Rebekah Glisson; a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret L. and Joe Turner of Mobile; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Benjamin A. and Doris Lowman Jr. of Mobile and J.H. “Jimmy” and Virginia Lowman of Andalusia.
Pallbearers were Ralph Simmons, Johnny Harper, Donnie Maddox, Glenn Walters, Buddy Wilkes, Carl Lawson, Donnie Johnson, Shane Lord and Tom Watt.

Robert P. (Bob) Shelley Sr.
Robert P. (Bob) Shelley Sr., 78, of Andalusia, died Sunday, April 14, 2002.
Born in Baxley, Ga., he was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy for four years. Following his military service, he was connected with the wholesale electrical supply business for nearly 40 years. He was a loyal member of the First United Methodist Church of Andalusia and the Men’s Bible Class.
Active in Masonry, he was a member of the Scottish Rite, honored with the Knight’s Commander of the Court of Honor (KCCH), and in October of 2001, he was invested with the 33rd degree, the highest honor he could receive. He spearheaded the revitalizing of the South Central Alabama Scottish Rite Club, serving as President for two years. After becoming interested in the Scottish Rite Dyslexic program for children, he devoted much time and energy to placing the program in Covington County schools and adjoining counties.
Bob devoted much of his life to horses. He raised, trained, and showed quarter horses and had a strong desire to help the youth in the community by getting involved with horses. It was his dream to have an arena for the young people and families to enjoy, and this desire eventually led to the building of the R.P. Shelley Arena in 1989.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 21 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Andalusia with Keahey Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Margaret, (Maggie) Shelley; a son, Robert P. Shelley Jr. of Port Jervis, N.Y.; a daughter, Sandy Ward of Wetumpka; three step-daughters, Wanda McDonald of New Hampton, NY, Amanda Jensen, and Gretchen Franco, both of Panama City Beach, Fla.; a nephew, George Stephens of Eclectic; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Scottish Rite Foundation of Alabama, Inc., 400 Valley Ave., Birmingham, AL 35209; Covenant Hospice, 510 N. Main St., Opp, AL 36467; or to the church of charity of your choice.

Beatrice B. Spivey
Beatrice B. Spivey, 78, of North Charleston, S.C., died Monday, April 15, 2002.
Born June 27, 1923 in Andalusia, she was the daughter of the late Marvin and Callie Mae Barefoot Bryant and a member of Ashley River Church of God, she was the owner of Spivey’s Mobile Home Park and Spivey’s Wrecker Service.
A funeral will held Friday, April 19 at 12 noon at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Green ridge Road Chapel in North Charleston. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday, April 18 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Survivors include two sons, Houston Carl Crowder Sr. and Houston Carl Crowder Jr., both of Charleston, N.C.; five daughters, V. Etta Scheidnas of Green Sea, S.C., Barbara Canant of Charleston, Mary Beatrice Spivey of North Charleston, Christina Cindy Spivey of Summerville, S.C. and Romana Ann Spivey of North Charleston; four step-sons, Pete Spivey of Georgiana, Jerry Spivey, Buddy Spivey, and Marlin Spivey, all of Mobile; two sisters, Mavis Lawson and Lala Mae Lawson, both of Andalusia; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Farrion Spivey.

Sara Waits Hair
Sara Waits Hair, 83, of Andalusia, died Wednesday, April 17, 2002 in an Andalusia hospital.
A funeral will be held Friday, April 19 at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Janet Looby and Father Bob Randall officiating. Burial will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home.
Survivors include husband, Byron C. Hair; three daughters and sons-in-law, Joy Tway, both of Andalusia, Ann and Lamar McGlaun of Enterprise, and Nancy and Marshall Skinner of Destin, Fla.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sidney Waits (Polly) of Andalusia and Jimmy Waits of Bruce, Fla.; and a sister, Harriet (Bill) Rue of Andalusia.
Pallbearers are Chris McGlaun, King Tway, Bill Tway, Lamar McGlaun, Marshall Skinner and Les Rue.

Irunda (Mrs. Leon) Wiggins
Irunda (Mrs. Leon) Wiggins, 90, of Andalusia, died Wednesday, April 17, 2002 at her residence.
A funeral will be held Friday, April 19 at 2 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. Eugene Meadows officiating. Music provided by Oakey Ridge Baptist. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday after 6 p.m.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Oakey Ridge Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Evelyn Murphree; a granddaughter, Patsy (Kendall) Taylor, both of Andalusia; and a great-grandchild, Alex Taylor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Wiggins.
Pallbearers are Sammy Brown, Delmar Wiggins, Jessie Wiggins, Morgan Dewrell, Johnnie Meeks and Ralph Barefoot.

Charles Conley Reeves
Charles Conley Reeves, 90, of Andalusia, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, in a Crestview, Fla., nursing facility. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Keahey Funeral Home.

Eddie Lee Partridge Holley
Eddie Lee Partridge Holley, 70, of Andalusia, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, in a Pensacola, Fla., hospital. A funeral was held Monday, Dec. 24, at 11 a.m. at Keahey Funeral Home. Special music was provided by Dale Martin and Cheryl Hamlet. Burial followed in Oak Grove Church Cemetery.

Altha Lucille Lord Smith Wiker
Our beautiful and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully in Draper, Utah on Dec 14, 2001 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Altha was born to loving parents Willie Dinley Lord and Nettie Viola Peavy Dec. 11, 1921 in Red Level. She was raised in Loango and Andalusia. She attended school in Andalusia. On Dec 23, 1939 she married David [Dock] Moroni Smith and they had 5 children born in Andalusia. In the late 40's and early 50's she was employed by Southern Box Co. In 1957 she moved to Pensacola, Fla., and in 1965 after the loss of her husband she moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. In Nov. 1970 she married George Wiker. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. She worked tirelessly in the church, the genealogy library and Jordan River Temple. She loved her church work, enjoyed gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren. A funeral was held on Dec 19, 2001 and she was interred at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains over looking the valley of the Great Salt Lake, There to lay until the morning of the first resurrection.

Ray Grimes
Ray Grimes, 70, of the Clearview community, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at his residence. A funeral will be held Saturday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m. at Foreman Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 28, at 6 p.m.

Ella Susan Spivey
Ella Susan Spivey, 95, of Red Level, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, in a Montgomery nursing home. A funeral will be held Friday, Dec. 28, at 2 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Talbot officiating. Burial will follow in Pigeon Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 28, after 12:30 p.m.

Ned Franklin Griffin
Ned Franklin Griffin, 67, of Andalusia, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at his residence. A funeral will be held Friday, Dec. 28, at 10 a.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Henry E. Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Grady F. Bass
Grady F. Bass, 58, of Florala, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, in a Florala hospital. The son of the late Harvey O. Bass Sr. and Hattie Bolling Bass, he served in the Alabama National Guard, Florala unit and was employed with off-shore oil production until he retired due to his health. A member of the Fidelity Lodge #685 of Florala, he was a Shriner and a member of the Andalusia Ballet Association. A funeral will be held Thursday, Dec. 27, at 2 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home of Florala with Rev. James Paul officiating.

Daisy Dell Brookins Pollan
Daisy Dell Brookins Pollan, 76, of Dothan, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2001, at her residence following an extended illness. Born in Donaldsonville, Gal, she moved to Dothan with her parents, Fred C. and Ella Mae Brookins at the age of 8 and began violin studies with Herbert McClintock and piano with Louis Wynn. At age 9, she played for her first wedding and was a member of the First Baptist Church Orchestra. At 12 years of age, Daisy Dell attended Huntington College where she studied theory and string quartet from Christine McCann. By age 13, Daisy Dell won national Honors at a Junior Music Festival competition. Later that same year, she won the 2nd National Peanut Festival talent competition and a trip to New York to audition for the Major Bowes Radio Show. Prior to graduation from Dothan High School in 1943, Daisy Dell studied music at the Julliard School for the Performing Arts in New York. After graduation, she studied music at Birmingham Southern College, Judson College and the University of Alabama under the instruction of Dr. Ottakar Cadek and where she was a member of the resident string quartet. Daisy Dell married her loving husband of 57 years, Elmer Pollan in 1944 while attending Judson College. Since then, she devoted a large portion of her time and talent to God by playing the Offertory every Sunday for 14 years at the First (United) Methodist Church in Dothan. She was also featured soloist at numerous other churches as her schedule allowed. Raising 3 children, Daisy Dell served as concert Master for several local and state orchestras, played countless weddings, shows, SEACT orchestras, concerts and other events, as well as maintaining a full time violin teaching schedule in her home and at Troy State University. She has long been a favorite of other musicians for her professionalism, teaching skills and finess with her violin, She will be remembered as an adoring wife, loving mother and one of the finest musicians this area ever produced. A funeral will be held Friday, Dec. 28, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Dothan with Rev. Wayne Helms officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Byrd Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Byrd Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to services.

Elwyn Pryor Brown
Elwyn Pryor Brown, 91, of Andalusia, formerly of Eufaula, died Wednesday, May 1, 2002 in a local nursing facility.
A retired lumber salesman, he was retail salesman of Dixon Lumber for 28 years. A member of the Lions Club for almost 30 years, a devoted member of First Baptist Church, he served as Chairman of the Building Maintenance Committee.
A funeral will be held Saturday, May 11 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Eufaula. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, May 10 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Center Brown; a son and daughter-in-law, Roland Pryor and Angela Clark Brown, all of Andalusia; a grandson, Roland Eric Brown of Dallas; a granddaughter, Stacy Gael (Charles Allen Jr.) Decker; and two great-granddaughters, Elisa and Evelina Decker, all of Vicenzia, Italy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Choir of Eufaula, AL 36027, the American Cancer Society or charity of choice.

Ernest James “Ernie” Mosdell
Ernest James “Ernie” Mosdell, 75, of Andalusia, died Friday, May 3, 2002 at his residence.
Born in Reading, England, he lived in Michigan, Canada, and England before moving to Andalusia in 1977 along with his wife.
A memorial service was held Sunday, May 5 at 5 p.m. at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Bob Randall officiating and directed by Foreman Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine Mosdell of Andalusia; two nieces and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Building Fund, c/o St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 1307 East Three Notch St., Andalusia, AL 36420.
