Alabama, U.S., County Marriage Records, 1805-1967 - 1814-1935

Anastasia Christakos
Anastasia Christakos, 80, of Niceville, Fla., formerly of Andalusia, died Friday, May 5, 2002 at the Manor at Bluewater Bay.
Born June 6, 1921, in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada to James H. and Andonia Maroosis Christokos, she was the oldest of eight children. She married Dr. James Christokos on Dec. 30, 1948 After living in chicago for several years, she and her husband moved to alabama and lived in Andalusia from 1958 until 1991, when they relocated to Niceville. While in Andalusia, she was an active member of several garden clubs, serving multiple terms on the Alabama state board of garden clubs, as well as being an active member and officer in the Altrusa Club, the Sunshine Club, and the Friends of the Library. An accomplished artist, she enjoyed arts and crafts. She had a beautiful handwriting and was frequently called upon to pen proclamations and documents for the city and other organizations. She was a lifelong member of the Greek Orthodox Church and active in the Mobile church.
A visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at McLaughlin Funeral Home in niceville, Fla. A private funeral service and Burial will be held on Thursday.
Survivors include her devoted husband of 53 years, Dr. James G. Christokos; a son and daughter-in-law, Starla; grandchildren, James and Michael; three sisters, Penny and husband Dr. Ignatios Voudoukis of Detroit, Mi., and Maria of Willowdale, Ontario; a brother, Harry of toronto; sisters-in-law, Helen Christokos and Katie Christokos of Sudbury; and several nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Thomas E. Butler
Thomas E. Butler, 73, of River Falls, died Friday, May 3, 2002 in an Dothan hospital.
A funeral was held Monday, May 6 at 10 a.m. at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. John Shipman and Rev. Edward C. Bentz officiating. Music provided by Dale Marley, pianist. Graveside services are Monday at 1 p.m. in Pine Forest Cemetery, Pensacola, Fla.
Survivors include his wife, Reda Butler of River Falls; a daughter and son-in-law, Jean Carol and Alan Parks of Greenville, N.C.; two grandchildren, Patrick Scott Parks and Thomas Alan Parks; two great-grandchildren, Stephen Alan and Lisa Moneque; four step-children, Jimmy and Adonis Gray of Rose Hill, Donnie and Juanita Gray, Caylea and Barry Bonds and Bruce and Melissa King, all of Andalusia; 11 step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy Bentz of Panama City, Fla. and Carolyn Reno of Pensacola; and a brother, LaFon Butler of River Falls.
He was preceded in death by step-grandson, Michael Gray.
Pallbearers were Jeff Gray, Ivan Gray, Barry Bonds, Billy Reed, Dennis Roache, Steve Looper, Stan Brown and Earl Walden.

Charlie Mason Reese
Mr. Charlie Mason Reese, 85, of Andalusia, died Monday, May 6, 2002 in a local hospital. Funeral servies for Mr. Reese will be held Wednesday, May 8, 2002 at 2 p.m. from the Foreman Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in the Green Hills Cemetery in Troy. The Reverend Bob Randall will officiate.
Born and raised in Virgina, Mr. Reese moved to Andalusia in 1945 along with his late wife, Mary Green Reese. Together they opened Andalusia Auto Parts and continued expanding their operations through the years until they owned a chain of auto parts stores through South Alabama and Northwest Florida. In addition to his auto parts stores, Mr. Reese, at one time, was also involved in the breeding and production of Polled Hereford cattle. Mr. Reese and his wife were charter members of St. Mary's Episcopal Church and helped to build the first Episcopal Church in this area. Mr. Reese was a past member and president of the Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerice, the N.F.I.B., the A.W.A.A.G., the A.S.I.A. and a former member and county president of the Alabama Cattleman''s Association. At the time of his death, Mr. Reese was still involved with Andalusia Auto Parts and Brior Auto Parts in Evergreen
Survivors include three very special and devoted friends: Mrs. Homer (Betty) Kilcrease of Opp; Mrs. Ronnie (Marilyn) Williams of Andalusia; and Mr. Archie McDougland of Andalusia, also several nieces and nephews.
Pall bearers will be Hollis Tranum, Frank Alexander, Archie McDouglad, Ronnie Williams, Albert Weeden and Wayne Willett.
Visitation was Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home.

Jack Wyndall Cannon
Jack Wyndall Cannon, 71, formerly of Atlanta and Montgomery, died Sunday, May 5, 2002, in Richmond,Va.
He was the son of Mary Gay Williamson and Add Cannon of Red Level.
He is survived by two daughters, Susan Cannon Whitlock of Richmond and a son, Patrick Baker Cannon of Atlanta, and four grandchildren Jeremy Baker Vogt of Raleigh, NC; Ruthanna Hanson Vogt of Wake Forest, NC and Virginia Ruthven Whitlock and Windson Rose Whitlovk of Richmond; two sisters, Amelia Grace Cannon Curry of Red Level and Montgomery and Mary Jean Cannon Tauch of Flatonia, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Edna Rae Cannon Pouncey.
The family will recieve friends at Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home in Andalusia at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11. Graveside services will follow a 11:30 a.m. at Fairmount Baptist Church in Red Level.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 E. 33rd St. Suite 1100, New York, NY. 10016.

Florence Williamson
Florence Williamson, 93, of Andalusia, died Wednesday, May 8, 2002 in a local hospital.
A funeral was held Friday, May 10 at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. J.T. Castleberry officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include children and spouses, Lorretta and Desi Manning of Andalusia, Mary Lou Jackson of Dozier, Marvin Williamson of Canton, Miss., Mancy “Shorty” and Carolyn Williamson of Dozier, Roxie Bracewell of Gantt, Endia and Buddy Jeter of Andalusia, and Betty and Clayton Terry of Red Level; 23 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bealie Williamson.
Pallbearers are Tim Odom, Scott Bracewell, Jerry Williamson, Mark McGinnis, Lawrence Chandler, Chris Harris.

Robert L. Elmore
Robert L. Elmore, 30, of Andalusia, died Friday May 10, 2002 in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. hospital.
A funeral will be held Sunday, May 12 at 3:30 p.m. at Judson Baptist Church with Rev. Hank Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Foreman Funeral Home and 30 minutes prior to services at the church.
Survivors include parents, Margie and Wayne Elmore of Andalusia; two brothers, John Wade of Destin, Fla., and Clay Elmore of Andalusia; two half-brothers, Steven and Billy Hall of Mississippi; and grandfather, Virgle McGlaun of Andalusia.

Mittie Huggins Brooks
Mittie Huggins Brooks, 85, of Somerville community in Morgan County died Wednesday, May 8, 2002.
She lived most of her life in the Carolina community, for the past 13 years she had been a resident of Somerville community. For several years during her work career, she cafeteria supervisor for all city schools in Andalusia. Mrs. Brooks was a Christian all her adult life and attended Central Church of Christ while living in the Andalusia area.
A memorial service will be held Monday, May 13 at 11 a.m. at the Twickenham Church of Christ in Huntsville. A graveside memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 14 at the family plot in the Cedar Grove Church of Christ Cemetery with minister George Herring officiating.
Survivors include two sons, Lehn Brooks of Huntsville and Lloyd Brooks of Somerville; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dr. Linda Brooks.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any desiring to designate a memorial gift may make a charitable contribution to the Dr. Linda Y. Brooks Endowment Fund, President’s Office, Faulkner University, Montgomery, aL 36109.

Jack Wyndall Cannon
Jack Wyndall Cannon, 71, formerly of Atlanta and Montgomery, died Sunday, May 5, 2002, in Richmond,Va.
He was the son of Mary Gay Williamson and Add Cannon of Red Level.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Cannon Whitlock of Richmond and a son, Patrick Baker Cannon of Atlanta; four grandchildren Jeremy Baker Vogt of Raleigh, N.C., Ruthanna Hanson Vogt of Wake Forest, N.C. and Virginia Ruthven Whitlock and Windson Rose Whitlock of Richmond; two sisters, Amelia Grace Cannon Curry of Red Level and Montgomery and Mary Jean Cannon Tauch of Flatonia, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Edna Rae Cannon Pouncey.

Christine Sirmon Spencer Turner
Christine Sirmon Turner, 90, of Jay, Fla., died Wednesday, May 15, 2002 in a Jay hospital.
Mrs. Turner was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Levy and Bessie Sirmon and her husbands, Vester Turner and Roy Spencer.
A funeral will be held Tuesday, May 21 at 10 a.m. at Century Church of Christ with Bro. Clifford Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in Serenity Gardens Cemetery in Milton, Fla. Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Jay Funeral Home.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph V. and Peggy Turner; a daughter and son-in-law, LouAnn Turner and Tracy O’Rourke; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Vivian Lee; a brother, Mallette Sirmon; and two sisters-in-law, Jeanette Sirmon and Betty Ann Sirmon.
Pallbearers are Robert Lee, Stephen Sirmon, Richard Miller, Sirmon Lee, Levy Sirmon, Gary Hogan, Forrest Townsend, John Sirmon and Roger Moody.

John Clinton Worley
John Clinton Worley, 92, of Andalusia died Monday, May 13, 2002 at Andalusia Regional Hospital. A funeral will be held on Monday, May 20 at 2 p.m. at Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Leslie Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow at the Antioch Congregational Church Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2002 at Foreman Funeral Home.
Survivors include five grandchildren, Pam Jackson of Alabama, Tammy Dumlau, Tony Worley, Greg Worley, Stephen Worley all of Hawaii; eleven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Nora Bailey of Carrabelle, Fla., Mildren Rhodes of Moss Point, Miss., Mavis Linzy of Foley.
Pallbearers will be Shelton Linzy, Cecil Worley, Douglas Worley, Billy Bailey, Leslie Rhodes, Jr., John Worley.

Ruth Morgan
Ruth Morgan, 71, of Andalusia died Wednesday, May 15, 2002 at her home in Andalusia.
A funeral will be held on Friday, May 17 at 2 p.m. at Foreman Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J. T. Castleberry officiating. Music will be provided by First Congregational Church Choir accompanied by Vicki Oakley. Burial will follow in the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home on Thursday, May 16. Pallbearers will be Andy Myrick, Greg Hollinghead, Gerald Morgan, Bobby Morgan, Earl Beck and Gene Skipper.
Survivors include her husband, Lewis Morgan; two daughters and sons-in-law Judy and Leon Myrick, Evelyn and Charles Bracewell; one son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Phyliss Morgan, all of Andalusia; five grandchildren, Jessie Bracewell, John Ike, Andy Myrick, Amy Hollinghead, Lacey Morgan; two great-grandchildren, Dalton Myrick and Skyler Hollinghead; one brother, Joe Compton of Brandinton, Fla.; four sisters, Agnes Flowers and Edna Kidd of Valrico, Fla., Martha Wright of Brandinton, Fla., and Leigh Martin of Florala.
