Gail Phillips

Funeral services for Gail Phillips, 46, of Dora will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002 at Bremen Baptist Church, the Rev. Junior Garmon officiating, with burial in Mt. Joy Baptist Cemetery in Curry. The body will lie state one hour prior to the service. New Horizon Funeral Home of Dora is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Phillips died Sunday, Sept. 15 at her residence. She was a member of the Baptist faith. She was a homemaker and was formerly employed by Drummond Coal Co.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Walker Drummond.

Survivors include her husband of 19 years, Mike Phillips; two daughters, Shaela (Jeff) Wise of Hoover and Lindsey Phillips of Dora; two sons, Andy Lee (Rhonda) Phillips of Kilgore and Nathan Phillips of Dora; her mother, Ollie Mae Drummond of Jasper; two sisters, Aletha (Larry) Rollo of Bremen and Ann (Bill) Avant of Jasper; a brother, Ronald (Nancy) Drummond of Hoover; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bryan, Nick, Josh and John Phillips, Brent Drummond and Russell Rollo.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Oscar Lee Trussell
Memorial services for Oscar Lee Trussell, 72, of Cullman were Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, Kenneth Terry officiating, with burial in Beech Grove Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Trussell died Friday, Sept. 13 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born on Jan. 22, 1930 in Cullman County to Joseph and Lona McCormick Trussell. He was a retired dairy farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred Doris Akers Trussell; and two sisters, Mary Jackson and Billie Marie King.

Survivors include three sons, Roy (Debbie) Trussell of Texas, Randall (Evon) Trussell of Cullman and Donald (Ollie) Trussell of Hanceville; three daughters, Tina (Richard) Dalton and Bobbie Jo Johnson, both of Texas and Gloria (David) Petree of Cullman; five brothers, Kenneth Trussell of Cullman, David Trussell, Robbie Ray Trussell of Anniston, T.J. Trussell of Alabama; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Marvin E. McMenamin
Funeral services for Marvin E. McMenamin, 70, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, with burial in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McMenamin died Tuesday, Sept. 17 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born July 9, 1932 to Hugh and Marion Laddy McMenamin. He was a teacher.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Karen Ann Harden; and a brother, John Gerald McMenamin.

Survivors include his wife, Jacklyn Koenig McMenamin; a son, Kenneth (Tammy) Harden of Cullman, two daughters, Corrine Marie McMenamin of Cullman and Maribeth (William) Bieber of Illinois; two brothers, Hugh (Irene) McMenamin Jr. of Illinois and Joseph (Barbara) McMenamin of Calif.; a sister, Marianne McMenamin of Illinois; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Friday.

Christopher Neal Brown

Funeral services for Christopher Neal Brown, 27, of Bremen will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2002 at Kilgore-Green Chapel, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Kilgore-Green Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Brown died Monday, Sept. 16 in a vehicle accident in Morgan County.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lamar Brown; his grandmother, Mary Frances Burleson Sanford; grandparents, Chester and Mona McGuff; and an aunt, Judy Lorean Watson.

Survivors include his mother, Linda (special friend, Carlos Sanchez) Patterson of Bremen; his stepfather, Frank Michael Patterson of Sylacauga; a son, Jordan Michael Brown of Sipsey; a sister, Stacey Melissa (Jeremy) Farr of Bremen; grandparents, Roy (Barbara) Sanford of Jasper; a nephew, Jayme Dylan Patterson of Bremen; an aunt, Karen (Phillip) Marion of Bremen; four uncles, Donald Sanford of Birmingham, John Brown, Chester Ray Brown, Gary McDonald, all of Cordova; two cousins, William B. (fiancé, Amy Jones) Alexander of Bremen and Billy Wayne (Mary) Alexander of Berlin; and a great-cousin, Jonathan Wayne Alexander.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today.

Lonnie Carl Koch

Funeral services for Lonnie Carl Koch, 29, of Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Culver City, Calif., will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002 at Callahan Funeral Home, with burial in Jones Cemetery in Callahan, Fla..

Callahan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Koch died Monday, Sept. 16 at his residence. He was a supervisor for Underground Contractors.

He was preceded in death by a step-brother, Jody Williams.

Survivors include his parents, Francis and Shirley Koch of Callahan, Fla.; two sisters, Renee Brasfield of Middleburg, Fla., and Paula Weaver of Cullman; a brother, Craig Koch of Callahan, Fla.; two step-sisters, Gina Kay Self of Manchester, Ga. and Tracy Lynn Hiers of Jacksonville, Fla.; a niece, Brandy Bozeman of Callahan, Fla.; seven nephews, Brandon and Chad Brasfield of Middleburg, Fla., Zachory and Austin Weaver of Cullman, Jay and Russell Koch, and Aaron Bozeman all of Callahan, Fla.; and biological father, Lonnie Carl Beard of Hanceville.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Jo Ann Alvis
Funeral services for Jo Ann Alvis, 49, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002 at Mission Grove Baptist Church, the Rev. Brandon Loyd officiating, with burial in Duck River Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Alvis died Wednesday, Sept. 18 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born in Cullman on May 20, 1953 to Jack and Mae Bell Schnelle Spradlin. She was employed by the city of Cullman Sanitation Department.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include a daughter, Julie (Billy) Anders; a brother, Billy Joe Spradlin; a sister, Jackie (Hugh) Burks; and two grandchildren, Taylor Anders and Maegan Anders.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church.

Bonnie Elnora Horton

Graveside services for Bonnie Elnora Horton, 91, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2002 at Marshall Memorial Gardens in Guntersville, the Revs. Tony Gunter and Phillip Young officiating.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Horton died Wednesday, Sept. 18 at Hanceville Nursing Home. She was born Nov. 15, 1910 in Blount County to Harvey Walter and Melcenia Saphronia Allred Horton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, David Horton and Conrad Horton; and a sister, Gladys Moore.

Survivors include a brother, Robert Horton of Albertville; and a sister, Prudence Horton of Cullman.

In lieu of flowers, make donations to favorite charity.

Visitation was Thursday.

Emmett C. Lumpkin

Funeral services for Emmett C. Lumpkin, 97, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, Drs. Ed Hayes and Bill Burkett officiating, with burial in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lumpkin died Thursday, Sept. 19 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born in Alabama on Sept. 8, 1905 to Matthew Smiley and Lela Motes Lumpkin. He was an auto mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Joe Lumpkin; his wife, Ida Lumpkin; and a grandson, Jerry Pruett.

Survivors include four daughters, Evelyn Singleton and Joneal Pruett of Cullman, Helen Sandlin of Athens, Mickie Beatty of Louisville, Ky.; a son, Jimmie Lumpkin of Acworth, Ga.; a brother, George Lumpkin of Palmerdale; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Baptist Mission offering or Benedictine Manor.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

Roy Mickle

Funeral services for Roy Mickle, 76, of Hanceville will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2002 at Hanceville Funeral Chapel, Clennon Shedd officiating, with burial in Hopewell Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mickle died Wednesday, Sept. 18 at Woodland Medical Center. He was born in Cullman County on Dec. 25, 1925 to Marion and Bessie Carter Mickle. He was a welder for Butler Manufacturing and a member of the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathy Mickle; and his daughter, Holly Mickle.

Survivors include his son, Keith (Judy) Mickle of Prattville; two sisters, Marie Melton and Mildred Phillips both of Hanceville; a brother, Buddy Mickle of White City; and two granddaughters, Audra Mickle and Heather Mickle of Prattville.

Visitation was Thursday.

Levis Louise Overton

Funeral services for Levis Louise Overton, 75, of Vinemont will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Brad McDonald officiating, with burial in Prospect Church of Christ Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Overton died Thursday, Sept. 19 at her residence. She was born Aug. 3, 1927 to Harvey Howard and Sarah Ellen Pearson Guthery. She was retired from Golden Rod.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Elmer Guthery.

Survivors include her husband, Melvin Lenard Overton of Vinemont; a son, Melvin (Shirley) Overton of Cullman; four daughters, Eva Stancil Rollin, Betty (Kenneth) Willoughby, Carolyn (Hershel) Smith, and Rebecca Mosley all of Cullman; two sisters, Lorene Freeman and Velter Goodwin both of Cullman; 14 grandchildren, Kevin, Kristina, Lavon, Sharon, David, Samantha, Brandon, Jason, Lisa, Cassie, Kesha, Latasha, Annette, and Brandy; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Thursday.

Cecil Louise Wells
Funeral services for Cecil Louise Wells, 87, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, Jack Collins and Paul Hicks officiating, with burial in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wells died Thursday, Sept. 19 at Woodland Village Health Care. She was born Dec. 27, 1914 to David and Evia Miller Farley. She was a lunchroom worker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David Mark Wells; and a son, Walter Lee Wells.

Survivors include a son, Jack (Faye) Wells of Cullman; a daughter, Janice (Harley) Calvert of Cullman; a daughter-in-law, Margie Wells of Cullman; two brothers, D.J. Farley Jr. and Jervis Farley, both of Cullman; three sisters, Jewell Still, Hazel Collins, both of Cullman, and Evelyn Harbison of West Point, Miss.; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Friday.
