Leonard Whitman Bonner

Services for Leonard Whitman Bonner, 84, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Randy Sellers officiating, with burial in Welti Cemetery. The body will lie in state from 1 to 2 p.m.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bonner died Sunday, Dec. 2 at his residence. He was born Sept. 17, 1917 to Joseph and Lurlene Vineyard Bonner. He was a salesman and a deacon in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Donald Bonner; two brothers, James and Aubrey Bonner; and a sister, Bessie Maud Bonner.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Harris Bonner; a son, Jerry (Shirley) Bonner of Cullman; a daughter-in-law, Virginia “Jenny” Bonner of Cullman; a brother, Gerson (Yvette) Bonner of Roanoke; two sisters, Virigina Jackson and Lera Pearl Bonner, both of Rock Mills; five grandchildren, Victoria (Tripp) Mullen, Bethany Bonner, Andrea (Mark) Ogles, Shane Bonner, Amy (Stephen) Savant; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Monday.

Kathleen Bailey

Services for Kathleen Bailey, 87, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001 at Moss Service Chapel, Thomas Larkin officiating, with burial in Prospect Church of Christ Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bailey died Sunday, Dec. 2 at Woodland Village Health Care in Cullman. She was born Aug. 14, 1914. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Myra Brantley of Hartselle; two sisters, Mary Helms and Martha McMurry; and two grandchildren, Vicki Ribolini and Robin Kemp.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today.

Bernard Franklin Hudson

Services for Bernard Franklin Hudson, 86, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001 at Moss Service Chapel, the Rev. Larry Joe Stallings officiating, with burial in New Hope Cemetery No. 1.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hudson died Sunday, Dec. 2 at his residence. He was born Dec. 3, 1914 in Alabama to Henry Thompson and Ida Bertha Nix Hudson Thompson. He was a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruby Yearwood Hudson; a son, Charles Franklin Hudson; a daughter, Linda Sue Hudson; a brother, Staff Sgt. Aubrey Newton Hudson; two sisters, Berma Lou Farley and Maggie Elizabeth Hudson; four grandchildren, Bernard Joseph Hudson, Mary Elaine Hudson, Timothy Wayne Hudson and Dustin Leigh Douglas; and a son-in-law, Jerry Wayne Whaley.

Survivors include four daughters, Mary Lou (Rayburn) Rusk, Sharron (Ronnie) Russell, Ida (Doug) Goode and Charlotte Whaley; seven sons, Tommy (Gladys) Hudson, Larry Gene (Laura) Hudson, Aubrey (Connie) Hudson, Kelly (Melba) Hudson, Paul D. (Debra) Hudson, Randy Hudson and Sherrill (Judy) Hudson; a sister, Audrey Guthery; two brothers, Duke Hudson and Edward Hudson; 24 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to New Hope No. 1 Cemetery Fund, care of Ruben Williams, 2177 County Road 974, Logan, Ala. 35098 or Hospice of Cullman County.

Visitation was Monday.

Elbert Pascal Cobb

Services for Elbert Pascal Cobb, 89, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001 at Hanceville Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Trueman Davis officiating, with burial in Hopewell Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Cobb died Sunday, Dec. 2 at Woodland Medical Center. He was born in Blountsville on April 7, 1912 to Bomar W. and Eunice Keller Cobb. He was a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes Keller Cobb of Hanceville; four sons, Charles A. (Janice) Cobb and William Elbert (Jayne) Cobb, both of Cullman, Joe D. (Ginger) Cobb of Florence and Johnny (Alice) Cobb of Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Alice Fay Evans of Cullman; a brother, Fulton (Zula) Cobb of Hanceville; a sister, Mattie Lee McAnnally of Hanceville; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hopewell Baptist Church.

Visitation was Monday.

O’Neal ‘Pop’ Morris

Services for O’Neal “Pop” Morris, 75, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001 at Hopewell First Baptist Church, with burial in Cullman Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Morris died Sunday, Dec. 2. He was born May 23, 1926 to Benjamin Esco and Alice Smith Morris. He was a Baptist minister, having pastored Riverside Baptist Church in Talladega, Mount Olive Baptist Church in Anniston, Lineville Baptist Church in Clay County, Merridian Community Baptist Church in Bakersfield, Calif., and Arvin First Baptist Church in Arvin, Calif.. He also did evangelical work organizing revival services. Mr. Morris was ordained a Baptist minister in 1958 and attended Graceville Theological Seminary in Graceville, Fla.

He began his adult life as a farmer in Cullman County. He served for a short time as a soldier in World War II. He worked in a textile factory and then as a civil servant at Bynum Army Ordinance Depot. He was a professional truck driver, then safety director for Alterman Transport. He later became anowner and operator truck driver. Later, he became manager of Smith Lake Park. He founded Pop’s Escort Service and operated it until he retired.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Nell Nicholas.

Survivors include his wife, Polly Walker Morris of Cullman; three sons, Garland (Toni) Morris of Charlotte, N.C., Michael (Elaine) Morris of Valparaiso, Fla. and Don (Monica) Morris of Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Virginia “Ginger” (Daryle) Miller of Crane Hill; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Gilbert (Mae) Morris of Cullman; two sisters, Jean (Talmedge) Mann of Cullman and Wauneece (Ward) Kewish of Pinson; and his brother-in-law, J.L. “Kenny” Nicholas of Cullman.

Pallbearers will be Garland Morris, Don Morris, Michael Morris, Daryle Miller, Teddy Russell and Paul Brown.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gilbert Morris, J.L. “Kenny” Nicholas, Talmedge Mann, Ward Kewish, Dale McBrayer, “Mac” Chaffin and David Cusey.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cullman Parkinson’s Foundation.

Visitation will be at 5 p.m. today for family members and at 6 p.m. today for friends.

James Jefferson LeFevre

Services for James Jefferson LeFevre, 83, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, the Rev. Jim Usher officiating, with burial in Roundtop Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. LeFevre died Sunday, Nov. 29 at High Desert Continuous Care in California. He was born in Cleburne, Texas on April 3, 1918 to Victor Phelix and Martha Jane Warren LeFevre. He was a minister.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Frances McIntire LeFevre.

Survivors include a son, Donald James (Freda) LeFevre of California; two daughters, Deanie (Ray) McLendon of Arab and Betty (Ed) McCormick of Cullman; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation was Monday.

Gene Burden
Services for Gene Burden, 74, of Baileyton will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at Moss Service Chapel, Morris Nunnelly, Cliff Mitchell and Randy Evers officiating, with burial in Baileyton Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Burden died Thursday, Nov. 29 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born April 28, 1927 in Alabama to Millard C. and Vada Taylor Burden. He was an electrical engineer and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, having served during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Danny Burden; a daughter, Diane Burden; and a great-granddaughter, Bradley Claire Eubanks.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Mitchell Burden of Baileyton; two sons, Wayne (Dinah) Burden Jr. and Donny (Tammy) Burden; a brother, Jerry Burden; a sister, Dale Allen; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today.

David Monroe Chaffin

Graveside services for David Monroe Chaffin, 73, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001 in Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville, Paul Baker officiating.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Chaffin died Wednesday, Nov. 28 at his residence. He was born Jan. 13, 1928 in Morgan County to Louis Monroe and Mamie Smith Chaffin. He was a farmer, worked as a chemist for TVA and a security guard for Nicholson File. He also was a member of the U.S. Army and Navy Reserve.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian Minor Chaffin of Cullman; a son, William (Lori) Chaffin of Cullman; four brothers, Spencer Chaffin of Fulton, Mo., Sherrill (Betty Gay) Chaffin of Huntsville, Kenneth (Linda) Chaffin of Somerville and Larry (Elizabeth) Chaffin of Price ville; two sisters, Clo (William) Mooneyham of Somerville and Joyce Pennington of Conroe, Texas; and one grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, make donations to the church or charity of your choice.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
