Brady Glenn Hampton
Funeral services for Brady Glenn Hampton, 23, of Helena, are at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2003 at Seventh Street Baptist Church, Jerry Hall and David Platt officiating, with burial in Center Grove Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hampton died Saturday, Feb. 1 at his residence. He was born April 19, 1979 in Birmingham to Randy Glenn Hampton and Myra Jean Smith. He was a minister.

Survivors include his father, Randy Glenn Hampton of Cedartown, Ga.; his mother, Myra Jean Smith of Cullman, his wife, Jennifer Brooks Hampton of Helena, Ala.; his sister, Shelly (Kevin) Johns of Cullman; his grandparents, Willie Ray (Joan) Smith of Cullman and Ethel Lynn Hampton of Baileyton.

Visitation is 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mi Ok Song

Funeral services for Mi Ok Song, 76, of Hanceville are at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2003 at Hanceville Funeral Home chapel, Jimmy Drinkard officiating, with burial in Garden City Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Song died Saturday, Feb. 1 at Woodland Medical Center. She was born Dec. 23, 1926 at Pussan, South Korea. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lilly Bales.

Survivors include her daughter, Chun Hui (Dan) Jones of Hanceville; three grandchildren, Christopher Jones of Hanceville, Christina Mason of Hanceville and Danny Song of Atlanta, Ga.; four great-grandchildren, Brandon Bales, Hope Mason, Derreck song and Drake Song.

Visitation is 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Melva Geneva Hood

Funeral services for Melva Geneva Hood, 75, of Cullman are at 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2003 at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home, Michael Williamson officiating, with burial in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hood died Friday, Jan. 31 at Woodland Village Health Care. She was born Nov. 20, 1927 in Morgan County to William Thomas and Sarah Francis Hardin Byars. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Monroe Hood.

Survivors include her son, Roger (Melody) Hood of Georgia; her daughter, Martha Hood of Scottsboro; two brothers, James Byars of Birmingham and Joel Byars of Arley; two sisters, Frances Peak of Huntsville and Willene Allison of Knoxville, Tenn.; and four grandchildren, Joelle Hood, Shona Hood, Derrell Hood and Dorenda Hood.

Visitation was Saturday.

Edith Parra Lee Cooper

Funeral services for Edith Parra Lee Cooper of Cullman will be announced at a later date.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cooper died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003.

Visitation is 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Idona Hosey Horsley
Funeral services for Idona Hosey Horsley, 95, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003 at Moss Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Ed Hayes officiating, with burial in Duck River Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Horsley died Sunday, Feb. 2 at her residence. She was born Oct. 19, 1907 to F.F. and Mary Skinner Hosey. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Paul T. Horsley.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Horsley Doyle; two sisters-in-law, Esther Hosey and Charlotte Hosey; and eight nieces.

Visitation was Monday.

Curtis James Griffin

Funeral services for Curtis James Griffin, 73, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Truman Davis officiating, with burial in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Griffin died Thursday, Jan. 30 in Tampa. He was born in Cullman County on Aug. 3, 1929. He was the owner and operator of C.J. Griffin Trucking Co.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Authur and Audie Mae Maner Griffin; two brothers, Doyle Griffin and Steve Griffin; and a sister, Opal Brown.

Survivors include his wife, Youvon Rainey Griffin of Ft. Lauderdale; a daughter, Rebecca Diann (Fred) Jenkins of Coral Springs, Fla.; seven brothers, Dawson Griffin and Scott Griffin of Cullman, Dewey Griffin of Sylacauga, Eugene Griffin of Tampa, Verlie Griffin and Monroe Griffin of Pell City, and Horace Griffin of Oklahoma; two sisters, Wilma Jo McCravy and Gladys Smith of Cullman; two grandchildren, Katie Born and Lynn Baker of Coral Springs, Fla.; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Edith Parralee Cooper

Funeral services for Edith Parralee Cooper, 79, of Cullman were Monday, Feb. 3, 2003 at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home, Jim Scott and Doug Scott officiating, with burial in Good Hope Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cooper died Saturday, Feb. 1 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born in Cullman County on March 13, 1923 to Leon and Edith Weeks Scott. She was a lunchroom worker for Cullman County School System and the oldest member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Curtis J. Cooper; a brother; and a sister.

Survivors include a son, James (Charlotte) Cooper of Cullman; two daughters, Janette (Rayburn) Cupp of Cullman and Fay (Johnny) Nail of Good Hope; three sisters, Betty Jean Hinkle of Cullman, Pauline Bridges of Birmingham and Hilda Curvin of Vinemont; three grandchildren, Robin O’Berry, Brian Cooper and Amanda Cooper; and three great-grandchildren, Miles O’Berry, Magen O’Berry and Kennedy Cooper.

Visitation was Sunday.

Herman Lee Hood

Funeral services for Herman Lee Hood, 72, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003 at Williams-McCracken Chapel, Anthony Wood officiating, with burial in Fairview Baptist Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hood died Monday, Feb. 3 at Cullman Long Term Care. He was born Oct. 23, 1930 in Cullman to Lewis and Bertha Ann Burnette Hood. He was a restaurant cook.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Cecil Hood and Mitchell Hood.

Survivors include three brothers, Fred Hood and Doyle Hood of Cullman, and Vernon Hood of Florida; and three sisters, Atha Lee Irvin and Velma Story of Welti, and Ozelle Weddle of Indiana.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Malcolm Delano ‘Shorty’ Brown

Services for Malcolm Delano “Shorty” Brown, 65, of Dodge City will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at Hanceville Funeral Chapel, the Revs. Stanley Owensby and Johnny Freeman officiating, with burial in Beech Grove Cemetery in Dodge City.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He died Feb. 3 at his residence. He was born Sept. 15, 1937, in Cullman County. He was a machine operator at Nicholson File.

Survivors include his wife, Ivalee Brown of Hanceville; father, Carl Brown of Cullman; stepmother, Ruth Brown of Cullman; a son, Michael (Teresa) Brown of Dodge City; a daughter, Renee (Daron) Welch of Shelton Grove; two brothers, Charles (Jackie) Brown of Cold Springs and Jack (Lilly) Brown of Valley Grove; two sisters, Margaret (Joel) Moon of Crane Hill and Dianne (Carlton) Peterson of Simcoe; four grandchildren, Cecilia (Tommy) Murray, Cindy (Sean) Hart, Summer Brown and Autumn Brown; two great-grandchildren, Torrie Hart and Kristin Hart.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pearlene McMillian Whitson Gerald

Funeral services for Pearlene McMillian Whitson Gerald, 81, of Hanceville will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003 at Collins-Burke Chapel in Jasper, Larry Abbott and Carl Schaffer officiating, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Collins-Burke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gerald died Feb. 2 at her residence.

She was preceded in death by husbands Silas Whitson and Emmett Gerald; three sisters; and four brothers.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Whitson Herron of Warrior and Sandra Whitson Melot of Hanceville; three sons, Charles Marion Whitson, James Harold Whitson, both of Birmingham, and Marshall Gene Whitson of Hayden; two stepdaughters, Velda Wizner of Oklahoma City and Brenda Ballard of Louisiana; a stepson, Richard Gerald of Louisiana; two sisters, Melia Earnest of Winfield and Hallie Taylor of Fayette; a brother, Vada McMillian of Shawnee, Okla.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 10 step-grandchildren.

Visitation was Monday.
