Quin W. ‘Dot’ Bishop

Funeral services for Quin W. “Dot” Bishop, 92, of Cullman County will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003 at Southern Heritage Chapel, Jerry Bishop, Rick Bishop, Markus Bishop and Jeremy Bishop officiating, with burial in Southern Heritage Cemetery.

Southern Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bishop died Tuesday, Feb. 4. He was a native of Shelby County and a lifelong member and deacon of Indian Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son, Jerry (Mary K.) Bishop of Cullman County; four grandchildren, Rick (Debra) Bishop and Sheri (Alan) Keith, both of Pelham, Markus (Scarlett) Bishop of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Aimee (Timothy) McCarrell of Riverchase; 10 great-grandchildren, Jeremy (Trisha) Bishop and Leah Bishop, both of Pelham, Virginia Lee Bishop and Victoria Bishop, both of Panama City Beach, Fla., Meredith Keith, Mallory Keith, Micah Keith, Matthew Keith of Pelham, Haley McCarrell and Hunter McCarrell of Riverchase; and one great-grandson to be.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Gerdie Nell Little
Funeral services for Gerdie Nell Little, 84, of St. Petersburg, Fla. will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003 at Williams-McCracken Chapel, with burial in Bethlehem West Baptist Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Little died Friday, Feb. 7 at Edward White Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla. She was born Dec. 7, 1918 in Cullman county to John Frederick and Ludie Roberson Marlow. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Grady M. Little; and a son, Gerald F. Little.

Survivors include a son, Bill S. Little of Midfield; two daughters, Jenny L. Keith of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Carol L. Wright of Marianna, Ga.; a brother, Harold Marlow of Columbus, Miss.; three sisters, Ima Jean Bellaries and Azalee Foy, both of Cullman and Marie Moore of Huntsville; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday.

Edward Arthur Toomey

Funeral services for Edward Arthur Toomey, 81, of Hanceville will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2003 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Fr. John O’Donnell officiating, with burial in Hopewell Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Toomey died Friday, Feb. 7 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Nov. 17, 1921 in Philadelphia, Pa. to Edward and Anna Toomey. He was an entrepreneur and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include four sons, James Toomey of Holy Oak, Mass., Stephen Toomey of Cleveland, Ohio, Mike Toomey of Hanceville, and Edward Toomey of Roanoke, Va.; a sister, Mary Gregg of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Elbert ‘Ed’ Devire Holloway

Funeral services for Elbert “Ed” Devire Holloway, 75, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Lummie Speakman officiating, with burial in Etha Baptist Church Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Holloway died Thursday, Feb. 6 at his residence. He was born Oct. 12, 1927 in Cullman County to Elbert Ellis and Iver Smith Holloway.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Flo White Holloway; and his sister, Ruhia Hilda Yates.

Survivors include two sons, David (Carol) Holloway of Arab and Phillip (Angel) Holloway of Cullman; a daughter, Gwina (Edward) Creekmore of Hanceville; seven brothers, Delone (Mildred) Holloway, Chester (Winell) Holloway, Troy Holloway, Rex (Helen) Holloway, and Willie Holloway, all of Cullman; Roy (Helen) Holloway of Hanceville and Travis (Ella Mae) Holloway of Huntsville; a sister, Fredis Kimbril of Cullman; and three grandchildren, Tiffany Creekmore Denney, Chris Denney and Cody Creekmore.

Visitation was Friday.

Dorothy Ann Brannan

Funeral services for Dorothy Ann Brannan, 71, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003 at Welti Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the Revs. Charles Burnham and Ray Latham officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Brannan died Thursday, Feb. 6 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Nov. 9, 1931 in Alabama to J.O. and Pearl A. Sparks. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Lisa Norris Campbell and Eva Janine Dunn; and her father.

Survivors include her mother; a daughter, JoAnn Wheeler; three sons, Larry G. (Diane) Bonner, Kenny (JoAnn) Brannan and Joey (Darlene) Brannan; two brothers, James M. (Venita) Sparks and Allen (Kay) Sparks; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Friday.

James D. Malpass

Funeral services for James D. Malpass, 65, of Hanceville will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003 at Moss Service Chapel, with burial in Cullman Memory Gardens with full military honors.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Malpass died Tuesday, Feb. 4 at his residence. He was 22-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in Vietnam, a lifetime member of the Greater Birmingham Bowling Association, having bowled at the Super Bowl of Pinson on the Tuesday night league for 20 years. He was also a retired member of the Arkadelphia Volunteer Fire Dept. where he maintained the equipment, helped with EMT calls and was their cook for fund-raisers.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Hagwood of Center Point, a brother, Donald Frank Malpass of Mt. Olive, a stepbrother, Alvin Hagwood of Center Point; and a grandson, Colton Reese Malpass of Dallas, Texas.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Anita Joan McAuley Malpass of Arkadelphia; four daughters, Janet (Steve) Morett of New York, Cindy (David) Jiminez of Texas, Donna (James) Petty of Alabama, and Jill Bolden of Texas; six grandchildren, Arvilla and Calvin Morettt, Amanda and Patrick Petty, and Heath and Justin Bolden; two sisters, Betty Cartee of Alabama and Joyce Boise of New Hampshire; long life friend C.F. Swann of Alabama; and two brothers-in-law, Robert McAuley and Jerry McAuley of Alabama.

Visitation were Friday.

Frances Marglene Naler
Funeral services for Frances Marglene Naler, 71, of Cullman, are at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003 at Williams-McCracken Funeral Home, the Revs. Steve Rogers and Larry Brown officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Naler died Saturday, Feb. 8 at Woodland Medical Center. She was born Aug. 24, 1931 in Cullman to Arthur and Clara Bell Briscoe Hoffman. She was a charter member of the Eastern Star in Irondale and a past worthy matron and member of Chapter 35, Cullman Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Winford Hoffman, Carse Bailey and Paul Bailey; and a sister, Maxine McClure.

Survivors include her step-mother, Marie Bailey Hoffman; her husband, Dennis Naler of Cullman; three sons, Michael (Tammy) Naler of Cullman, Jeffrey (Penny) Naler of Cullman and Steven Craig (Cindy) Naler of Decatur; six brothers, William Hoffman of Minneapolis, Minn., Lester Hoffman of Tanner Hill, Edward Hoffman, James Hoffman, Raymond Hoffman and Robert Hoffman, all of Cullman; three sisters, Elizabeth Hayes of Arley; Martha Harbison and Louise Blevins, both of Cullman; seven grandchildren; and one great-gradnchild.

Visitation is 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

James Leon Ragsdale

Funeral services for James Leon Ragsdale, 38, of Crane Hill, are at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2003 at Mount Olive Baptist Church at Jones Chapel, the Revs. Larry Joe Stallings, Delwin Kilgo and Carroll Swann officiating, with burial in the church cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ragsdale died Friday, Feb. 7 on County Road 940 in an automobile accident. He was born July 23, 1964 in Cullman to Nelson and Joyce James Ragsdale.

Survivors include his parents; his wife, Mary Ragsdale of Crane Hill; two sons, James Daniel Ragsdale and Eric Speegle; his daughter, Whitney Nichole Ragsdale; a step-son, Chris Bailey; two step-daughters, Danielle Bailey and Leigh Ann Johnson; two brothers, Dale Ragsdale and Kevin Ragsdale; two sisters, Leisha Aguero and Felicia Aleman; and two step-grandchildren, Abigail Klarice Johnson and Nicholas Chase Johnson.

Visitation is 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lottie Bell Henry

Funeral services for Lottie Bell Henry, 77, of Cullman, are at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003 at Moss Service chapel, with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Henry died Feb. 7, at her residence. She was born Dec. 3, 1925 to Lem and Geneva Woods Allred. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include two daughters, Helen Sharp and Dean Snow; two sons, Ron Henry and Tony Henry; three sisters, Ollie Brock, Eunice Wynn and Verla Mae Brock; a brother, Carl Allred; five granddaughters; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Saturday.

Sean Alexander Darnell

Funeral services for Sean Alexander Darnell, 3, of Addison are at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003 at Sardis Baptist Church, Tim Box officiating, with burial in the church cemetery.

Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Sean died Thursday, Feb. 6 at his residence.

Survivors include his parents, Micheal and Jennifer Darnell; three brothers, Avery Darnell, Zachary Darnell and Patrick Darnell; his sister, Morgan Darnell; grandparents, Travis and Youvon Darnell, Christlean Blakley, Frank Blakley and Rita Blakley; and great-grandmother, Ruby Beasley.

Visitation was Saturday.

Gerald D. Jones

Funeral services for Gerald D. Jones, 77, of Falkville, are at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2003 at Peck Funeral Home chapel, the Rev. Grad Tanner officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Peck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Jones died Saturday, Feb. 8 at Summerford Nursing Home. He was born March 12, 1925 in Morgan County to Ben and Leona Blevins Jones. He was of the Methodist faith, was retired from L and N Railroad after 32 years of service, and was an Army verteran, having served in World War II. He was retired from the Alabama National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Ben Jones.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jones of Cullman; a son, Jerry Jones of Falkville; a sister, Mary Sue Tillery of Cullman; and a grandson.

Pallbearers will be Don Stisher, Doug Stisher, Randy Wynn, Russell Reader, Rufus Penn and Bob Carroll.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
