Addison E. Williams
Funeral services for Addison E. Williams, 16, of Vinemont will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2003 at Moss Service Chapel, Bill Byars officiating, with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Williams died Wednesday, March 19 at Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery. He was born Aug. 11, 1986. He was a student/refrigeration technician.

Survivors include his girlfriend, Chrysandra Burks; his parents, David Ray and Susan Elaine Watson Williams; a stepbrother, Austin Glaze; two nephews, Lardon and Keaton Glaze; and his grandparents, Lonnie and Joan Watson and Albert and Faye Hylton.

Visitation was Friday.

Roger Allen ‘Cobb’ Roberson

Funeral services for Roger Allen “Cobb” Roberson, 50, of the Walter Community will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2003 at Holly Pond First Baptist Church, the Revs. Noman Stapp and Brad McDonald officiating, with burial in Holly Pond Cemetery.

Holly Pond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Roberson died Friday, March 21 at his residence. He was born in Cullman County on Nov. 21, 1952 Hobert and Eula Bates Roberson. He was self-employed and was affiliated with Faith Restoration Church and Mercy Seat Ministry. He graduated from Holly Pond High School.

He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, David Roberson.

Survivors include his wife, Denise Bristow Roberson of Walter; two sons, Bruce (Dee Anne) Roberson of Hanceville and Brent (Cynthia) Roberson of Vinemont; his mother, Eula Bates Bennefield of Smith Lake; four brothers, Bobby Roberson of Cullman, John Bennefield of Blountsville, Lowell Roberson of Massachusetts and Jerry Roberson of Birmingham; three sisters, Shirley Davis of Smith Lake, Sue Jones of Douglas, Texas and Ann Foster of Lincoln; and three grandchildren, Kristin, Brandee and Gaige.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Smith, Zane Smith, Zack Smith, Zeb Smith, Mitch Brock and Aaron Brock.

Honorary pallbearer will be Bill Brannon.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Billy Murphree

Graveside services for Billy Murphree, 72, of Holly Pond were Friday, March 21, 2003 at Gilliam Springs Cemetery in Arab, the Rev. DeJuan Reese officiating.

Holly Pond Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Murphree died Wednesday, March 19 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born June 9, 1930 in Blount County to Brownlaw and Rilla Hayes Murphree. He was a self-employed construction worker and was a member of Crossroads Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Gurly, Grady, Alford, Wilford and Will Murphree and two infant brothers; two sisters, Dina Bryant and Iva Vasser.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Casey Murphree of Holly Pond; three sons, Michael (Lynn) Murphree of Addison, Christopher (Tammy) Murphree of Atlanta, Ga. and Jeffery (Sandy) Murphree of Gadsden; two daughters, Deborah Massey and Angela Johnson; two sisters, Vida Lambert and Nadine West; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Friday.

James Banks ‘J.B.’ Smith

Funeral services for James Banks “J.B.” Smith, 94, of Lester, formerly of Center Hill Community, will be at 2 p.m Monday, March 24, 2003 at Center Hill Baptist Church, the Revs. James Adams, Ross Clemons and Dewey Briscoe officiating, with burial in Center Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Holly Pond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Smith died Friday, March 21 at his daughter, Myrl Jackson’s home. He was born Sept. 25, 1908 in Atlanta, Ga. to James Winston and Angeline Elizabeth Burrow Smith. He was a self-employed farmer and retired auto mechanic. He was a member of Center Hill Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ezma Marie Walker Smith; his parents; two brothers, Roy L. Smith and Willis Smith; and a sister, Lorene Brooks.

Survivors include two sisters, Myrl Smith (Elmer) Jackson of Lester and Margaret Ann Smith (Albert) Mayhall of Cullman; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to noon Monday.

Buford L. Bradford

Funeral services for Buford L. Bradford, 65, of Remlap will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2003 at Blountsville Funeral Chapel, Craig Johnson and Cliff Bradford officiating, with burial in South Cemetery.

Blountsville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Bradford died Thursday, March 20 at Medical Center East in Birmingham. He was born in Blount County to Ambrose and Edna J. Smith Bradford. He was a retired self-employed carpenter and a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Katie Bradford of Remlap; two sons, Danny (Terri) Bradford and Donnie (Tina) Bradford, both of Pell City; a daughter, Debra (Herman) Krack of Pell City; like a daughter, Angela Jackson of Straight Mountain; his mother, Edna Bradford of Trussville; a brother, Clifford (Barbara) Bradford of Pinson; two sisters, Brenda Guest of Anderson, S.C. and Thelma Loretta Canoles of Blountsville; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Bradford, Keith Hooper, Erick Price, T.J. Neely, B.J. Osburn and Kyle Hooper.

Visitation from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lyda Littleton Lovell
Funeral services for Lyda Littleton Lovell, 93, of Birmingham, formerly of Holly Pond, are at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2003 at Holly Pond Funeral Home chapel, the Rev. Chris Doss officiating, with burial in Holly Pond Cemetery.

Holly Pond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lovell died Saturday, March 22 at Medical Center East in Jefferson County. She was born Nov. 28, 1909 in Blount County to William Zeno and Lucy Graves Littleton. She was a homemaker, a teacher aide and a member of New Lebanon Primitive Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include two daughters, Lucy (Rex) Stewart of Mt. Olive and Martha Janice (Charles) Gorham of Birmingham; four grandchildren, Teresa Stewart, Rexanne Prescott, Julie Gorham and Charles Gorham Jr.; and four great-grandchildren, William Ellison, Christopher Prescott, Jennifer Prescott and Crystal Prescott.

Visitation is 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Vernell Jacobs Baker
Funeral services for Vernell Jacobs Baker, 77, of Vinemont will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at Moss Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Al Dean officiating, with burial in Crosses Chapel Methodist Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Baker died Monday, March 24 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born July 1, 1925 to Thomas Perry and Allie B. Young Jacobs. She was a member of the CRMC Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leslie Baker; a son, Wayne Baker; a sister, Mamie Wilcutt; and three brothers, Harvey Jacobs, Hoyt Jacobs and Juno Jacobs.

Survivors include two sons, Rickey (Sheila) Baker and Joey (Teresa) Baker, both of Cullman; three daughters, Glenda (Dan) Sims and Raydonna (Larry) Sims, both of Cullman, and Pam Vandergrift of Morris; a daughter-in-law, Freda Baker of Cullman; three brothers, Milton Jacobs of LaPine, Ore., Buck Jacobs of Pasco, Wash. and George Jacobs of Logan; three sisters, LaBell Taylor of Memphis, Tenn., Ozell Gable of Walter and Lorell Powell of Good Hope; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Relay For Life.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Gaynell L. ‘Sue’ Brown

Funeral services for Gaynell L. “Sue” Brown, 67, of Cullman will be at noon Tuesday, March 25, 2003 at Moss Service Chapel, the Rev. Joe Cook officiating, with burial in Enon Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Brown died Sunday, March 23 at her residence. She was born Jan. 24, 1936 to Lowell A. and Ada M. Yates Leathers.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include four sons, Darrl (Susan) Brown, Ronald Brown, Bobby (Jo) Brown and Tommiy (Jamie) Brown; a daughter, Debbie (Brian) Johnson; eight grandchildren, Jimmy Brown, Chris Brown, Brittany Brown, Shala Brown, Keith Buchanan, Jamie Haschke, Carly Johnson and Bonnie Ward; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. today.

Lester White

Funeral services for Lester White, 83, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2003 at Duck River Baptist Church, Dr. David McGowin officiating, with burial in Duck River Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. White died Saturday, March 22 at Hanceville Nursing Home. He was born April 5, 1919 in Cullman County. He was a greenhouse operator.

Survivors include his wife, Betty White of Cullman; two daughters, Cynthia Ann (William Lee) Smith and Martha L. White, both of Cullman County; a sister, Geneva Longshore of Florence; a brother, Maurice White of Altoona; and two grandchildren, Jaime Leigh Smith and Joshua Patrick Smith.

Visitation was Monday.
