Arthur Giles
Graveside services for Arthur Giles, 65, of Boca Raton, Fla. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Giles died Tuesday, Oct. 23 in Florida. He was born Aug. 12, 1936.

Survivors include a wife, Thelma Giles; a daughter, Karen; a brother, Wayne Giles; and three sisters, Leona Smith, JoAnn Brown and Judy Mayes.

There will be no viewing or visitation. Everyone will meet at the cemetery.

Herman Clevous Henderson

Services for Herman Clevous Henderson, 75, of the Walter Community will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2001 at Duck River Baptist Church, the Revs. Steven Thomas and Sherman Bailey officiating, with burial in Duck River Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Henderson died Wednesday, Oct. 24 in Cullman. He was born in Cullman on Jan. 1, 1926 to Walter C. and Nora Mobley Henderson. He was a salesman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Hershel Henderson and Troy Henderson.

Survivors include his wife, Opal Bradford Henderson of Cullman; two daughters, Ann (Dennis) Lisle of Phenix City and Sheila (Kenny) Phillips of Cullman; a brother, Roy (Wanda) Henderson of Cullman; and two granddaughters, Sabrina Lisle of Phenix City and April Phillips of Cullman.

Visitation was Thursday.

Inez Loyd

Services for Inez Loyd, 79, of Arab, formerly of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2001 at Brickyard Baptist Church, the Rev. Tommy Graves officiating, with burial in Valley Springs Cemetery.

Gober Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Loyd died Wednesday, Oct. 24. She was born March 25, 1922. She was a retired dietary worker at Cullman Nursing Home and a member of Brickyard Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Noah “Doc” and Fannie Loyd; two brothers, Curtis and E.C. Loyd; and two sisters, Hazel Goodwin and Jewel Loyd.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Bernice Loyd of Arab; niece and caregiver, Martha Ann (Waylon) Johnson; two nieces; and four nephews.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. today at the church.

John Lee Kiker

Services for John Lee Kiker, 82, of Jasper will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2001 at Kilgore-Green e Chapel in Jasper, Thomas Reeves and William Twilly officiating, with burial in Boldo Cemetery.

Kilgore-Green Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kiker died Wednesday, Oct. 24 at Walker Baptist Medical Center. He was a veteran of World War II, having flown 130 combat missions as a gunner and was retired from Drummond Company, Inc., with previous employment at Bardleben Coal Co. and Peabody Coal Co. He was a deacon of Pine Grove Holy Church of Christ in Boldo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Andrew and Alice Murray Kiker; brothers, Garfield Kiker, Douglas Kiker; and sisters, Esther Kiker Powell, Jessie Doris Kiker.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Riddlesperger Kiker of Jasper; daughter, Abbie K. (Larry) Drummond of Jasper; four grandchildren, Terri Drummond (John) Lyon, Patrick Lee (Debbie Beasley) Drummond, both of Birmingham, Dr. Scott Drummond of Tuscaloosa, Andrea Kiker (Chad) Wilson of Jasper; four great-grandchildren, Hank Ingram, Kelsey Lyon, Mary Stewart Drummond, Hunter Lee Wilson; and three sisters, Bessie Kiker Dowdey of Jasper, OlaMae Kiker Girard of Michigan, Dorothy Kiker Ramsey of Huntsville.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Scott Drummond, Patrick Drummond, John Lyon, Chad Wilson, Gerald Kiker and A.J. Kiker. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Drummond Company land department.

Visitation was Thursday.

Glendal Carl Ellinburg
Glendal Carl Ellinburg, 75, of Florence, formerly of Cullman, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ellinburg was preceded in death by his parents, George and Claudie Ellinburg; a brother, Sewell Ellinburg; and a sister, Jewell Ann McMinn.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Ellinburg of Florence; three sons, Ricky Ellinburg and Nicky Ellinburg, both of North Carolina, Kenneth Ellinburg of Colorado; a daughter, Vicki Smith of Texas; a brother, Earl Ellinburg of Florida; and four sisters, Lucille Herfurth of Cullman, Zula Cobb of Hanceville, Mary Ruth Dean and Imogene Waters, both of Texas.

Junior Ray Sellers

Services for Junior Ray Sellers, 65, of Vinemont will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, the Rev. Dennis Trimble officiating, with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Sellers died Tuesday, Oct. 23 at Woodland Medical Center. He was born in Cullman on Feb. 17, 1936 to Gene and Nettie McAbeee Sellers. He was a sheet metal worker.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Sue Hardin Sellers of Vinemont; two sons, Jerry (Nelda) Sellers and Billy (Kathy) Sellers, both of Vinemont; a daughter, Rhonda Stansell of Vinemont; five brothers, Riley Sellers of Cullman, James Sellers of Blair, John Sellers of Trimble, Joel Sellers of West Point and Earl Sellers of Washington, D.C.; 20 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the church.

Eloise Wilson Blanton

Services for Eloise Wilson Blanton, 74, of Hanceville will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001 at Williams-McCracken Chapel, John Jankens officiating, with burial in Cullman Memory Gardens.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Blanton died Tuesday, Oct. 23 at Woodland Medical Center. She was born Nov. 8, 1926 in Monroe County to Carl and Ethel Mosley Wilson. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Charles Edward Blanton.

Survivors include two sons, Gordon (Martha) Blanton and Jeffrey (Cindy) Blanton, both of Cullman; two daughters, Marsha Bean of Alpharetta, Ga. and Valerie (Michael) Tollison of Nashville, Tenn.; a sister, Kathleen Mosley of Shreveport, La.; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Delma Rodgers Duke

Services for Delma Rodgers Duke, 89, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2001 at Williams-McCracken Chapel, the Rev. Vernon Willis officiating, with burial in Simcoe Methodist Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Duke died Wednesday, Oct. 24 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born in Cullman County on Sept. 13, 1912 to John Franklin and Mary Wooten Rogers. She was a homemaker

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include two sons, R. Wayne (Janice K.) Duke of Birmingham and Ronnie (Elaine) Duke of Somerville, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

James Dewey Green

Services for James Dewey Green, 67, of Eva will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001 at Enon Baptist Church, the Rev. Perry Brown officiating, with burial in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Green died Tuesday, Oct. 23 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Feb. 1, 1934 in Marion County to George William and Elsie Aderholt Green . He was a retired USDA poultry inspector and security guard at Corps of Engineers Building in Huntsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William H. “Buck” Green and John Green ; and three sisters, Maggie Burleson, Lucille Denny and Loice Fincher.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Dodd Green of Eva; two sons, James Edward (Regina) Green of Vinemont and Matthew (Camella) Green of Joppa; two daughters, Beth Green of Atlanta, Ga. and Carol (Michael) Thomason of Vinemont; four sisters, Clara Murdock, Lestie Peppers, Willie Jo Holderfield and Ella Wayne Richards, all of Boaz; and two granddaughters, Vanisa Thomason and Jennifer Thomason, both of Vinemont.

Visitation was Wednesday.

Millard Clarence ‘Bull’ Motes

Services for Millard Clarence “Bull” Motes, 79, of Hanceville will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2001 at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Trueman Davis officiating, with burial in Hopewell Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Motes died Wednesday, Oct. 24 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born April 12, 1922 in Cullman to Richard Matthew and Daisy Motes. He was a retired Bellsouth repairman, having served for 35 years and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army where he received the Bronze Star. He was also served with the Alabama State Trooper Auxiliary in Muscle Shoals for 10 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Melba Motes of Hanceville; three sons, Rick (Ann) Motes, Roger Dale Motes of Frederick, Md. and Ronald (Rhonda) Motes of Cullman; a brother, Fred Marlin Motes of Hanceville; nine grandchildren, Keith, Chad, Melia, Cody, Megan, Matthew, Nathan and Michael Motes and Amy Ouellette; and four great-grandchildren, Dylan Motes, Jacquelyn Motes, Annelise Ouellette and Emily Ouellette.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Nannie B. Nelson

Services for Nannie B. Nelson, 96, of Livonia, Mich. will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001 at First United Methodist Church of Hartselle, the Rev. W.G. Henry officiating, with burial in Hartselle City Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Peck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Nelson died Monday, Oct. 22 at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was born in 1905.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodford Owen Nelson; and one daughter, Marjorie Solomon.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Emery of Round Rock, Texas and Nancy Owen Nelson of Dearborn, Mich.; a brother, David Chandler of Benton, Ky.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Owen McCord, McLean Lutz, Dwight Lutz, Ed Hudgins, Larry Beasley and Robert Stephenson.

Memorial contributions may be made to Luthern Heritage Home at 33600 Luthern Lane Livonia, Mich., 48154.

Visitation was Wednesday.
