Charles L. Shelton

Services for Charles L. Shelton, 67, of Blountsville will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2002 at Blountsville Funeral Home Chapel, Charles Brown officiating, with burial in Brooksville Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Shelton died Tuesday, Feb. 5 at Beverly Healthcare in Oneonta. He was born in Blount County to Taylor and Thelma Denney Shelton. He was a retired truck driver for Sunnyland.

He was preceded in death by his son, Barry Charles Shelton.

Survivors include his parents; his wife, Wanda R. Nelson Shelton of Blountsville; two daughters, Marsha (Jimmy) Jones, Tammy Shelton both of Blountsville; four sisters, Betty Jo Robinson of Atlanta, Ga., Willie Ann Laten of Blountsville, Glenda Ann Webb of Locust Fork, Patricia Gail Mitchell of Albertville; and one grandchild, Nathan Bradley Jones.

James Melvin Yates
Services for James Melvin Yates, 80, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 9 at Moss Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Arno Pruitt officiating, with burial in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Yates died Wednesday, Feb. 6 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born March 14, 1921 to Troy C. and Tessie Pike Yates. He was the previous owner of Yates Christian Book Store.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Charlene Yates.

Survivors include two daughters, Melanie Yates Chance, Robin Yates White both of Cullman; brother, Edward Yates of Huntsville; four sisters, Estelle Pinkard, Lera Wier, Frances Willingham all of Cullman, Pat Lambert of Michigan; and three grandchildren, Chase Chance, Chatham Chance, Bailey White.

Visitation will be at 4:30 p.m. today.

Ida Mae Denson

Services for Ida Mae Denson, 79, of Addison will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2002 at Addison Church of God, the Rev. Parker officiating, with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She died Wednesday, Feb. 6 at her residence.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Erma Lay.

Survivors include one son, Charles Leon Denson of Addison; one daughter, Freda Joyce Pruitt of Addison; three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandson; four brothers, Carlton Wood of Carbon Hill, Frank Wood of Vinemont, Milton Wood of Prattville, Alton Wood of Birmingham; and three sisters, Betty Williams, Charlene Stewart both of Curry, Lorene Burson of Leeds.

Jewell Crawford Knight

Services for Jewell Crawford Knight, 91, of Falkville will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002 at Falkville First Baptist Church, Dr. R.E. Glaze and the Rev. Jack Lovelace officiating, with burial in Falkville City Cemetery.

Peck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Knight died Thursday, Feb. 7 at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born in Morgan County on Dec. 24, 1910 to Joseph Alexander and Nannie Gertrude Stewart Crawford. She was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught for more than 20 years in the Morgan County School System. She was a member of the Falkville First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, John E. Knight of Falkville; son, John E. Knight Jr. of Decatur; sister, Gladys Summerford of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be C.A. Blevins, Wayne Coots, Joe Edmondson, Kenneth Richards, Ray Richards, Roy Richards.

Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Julia Frances Alvis
Services for Julia Frances Alvis, 74, of Cullman will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002 at Hanceville Funeral Home, with burial in New Hope North Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She died Wednesday, Feb. 6 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born in Cullman on Nov. 22, 1927 to Eddie Lee and Mary Jane Woodruff Alvis. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, Anthony Alvis of Cullman; a brother, Vernon Alvis of Garden City; and two sisters, Fay Anderson and Barbara Stricklin.

Visitation was Friday.

Annie Ruth Schultz

Services for Annie Ruth Schultz, 80, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Funeral Chapel, Vernon Willis officiating, with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Schultz died Thursday, Feb. 7 at her residence. She was born Feb. 6, 1922 in Blount County. She was a foster grandparent.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Albert and Effie Me Hazelrigg Bates.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence W. Schultz of Cullman; two sons, Don (Maria) Schultz of Cullman and Doug (Sandra) Schultz of Starkville, Miss.; a daughter, Martha Ann Alldredge of Cullman; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Friday.

James Ronald Parker

Services for James Ronald Parker, 56, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002 at Northside Baptist Church, Paul Hicks and Jack Collins officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Parker died Thursday, Feb. 7 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born May 19, 1945 in Cullman to Robert Olen and Mildred Marchman Parker. He was a quality control supervisor for VF Jeanswear.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Inez Goodlett Parker of Cullman; a son, Ronald (Tammy) Parker of Cullman; a daughter, Sonya (John) Bowling of Cullman; two sisters, Linda (Don) Dispanet of Virginia and Cleo (Gary) Thomas of Cullman; and three grandchildren, Tosha Dobson, Zachary Bowling and Eli Parker.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Sylvia Morris Coston

Services for Sylvia Morris Coston, 64, of Cross City, Fla. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002 at Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service Chapel of Vidalia, Ga., Dr. William Berryhill officiating, with burial in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service of Vidalia is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Coston died Wednesday, Feb. 6 in Gainesville. She was a native of Cullman, residing most of her life in Toombs County and moving to Florida in 1999. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Vidalia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Woodrow and Grace Kilgoe.

Survivors include her husband, Harold Coston of Cross City; two daughters, Sheila Smith of Lyons, Beverly Morris of Virginia Beach, Va.; one son, Ricky Morris of Chesapeake, Va.; one step-daughter, Lorene Coston of Cross City; seven sisters, Dean Davis, Martha Liepert, Carolyn McBrayer, Betty Smith, Marie Glover all of Cullman, Frances Green of Nashville, Tenn., Opal Clements of Oneonta; two brothers, Oather Kigoe of Arab; Jack Kigoe of Morgan City; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation was Friday.

John Ray Garrison
Services for John Ray Garrison, 83, of Holly Pond will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002 at Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel, the Revs. John Hung and Randy Burtram officiating, with burial in Holly Pond Cemetery.

Holly Pond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Garrison died Friday, Feb. 8 at his residence. He was born Jan. 10, 1919 to Claborn Jerome and Mary Estella Watts Garrison. He was a rural postal carrier for the U.S. Post Office and was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Belle Isom Garrison of Holly Pond; two sons, John Randy (Janice) Garrison of Decatur, Robert G. (Cindy) Garrison of Birmingham; daughter, Sandra Garrison Burnham of Del Rose, Tenn.; brother, Roy E. Garrison of Cullman; two sisters, Mary Ellen (Carlton) Smith of Cullman, Dorothy Martin of Blountsville; and five grandchildren, John Philip Burnham, Robert G. Garrison Jr., Kevin R. Garrison, Kathryn E. Garrison, John W. Garrison.

Pallbearers will be Masons.

Visitation was Saturday.

Mark Howard Scott

Services for Mark Howard Scott, 43, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002 at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, the Revs. David McDonald, Raul Rivers and Bradley McDonald officiating, with burial in Bethlehem Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Scott died Friday, Feb. 8. He was born in Cullman on Nov. 10, 1958. He was a contractor.

He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Scott.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Scott of Hanceville; mother Jeanette Todd of Hanceville; step-father, Richard Todd of Hanceville; four daughters, Christy Green of Tuscaloosa, Sherry Henry of Corner, Candice Scott of Bremen, Heather Watson of Cullman; three sons, Kevin Henry of Good Hope, Heath Scott of Hanceville, Brent Winfrey, Tuscaloosa; two sisters, Sharron Flanagan of Decatur, Rose Scott of Birmingham; one brother, Kent Scott of Birmingham; and two grandchildren, Austin and Tristen Watson of Cullman.

Visitation was Saturday.

Anne Jeanette Dodd Killen

Services for Anne Jeanette Dodd Killen, 72, of Athens will be at 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2002 at Spry’s Chapel, the Rev. Harry K. Dodd officiating, with burial in Roselawn Cemetery.

Spry Funeral Home Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

She died Friday, Feb. 8 at her residence. She was born in Ohio on Dec. 15, 1929. She was retired from TVA at Brownsferry and was an U.S. Air Force veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include two daughters, Laura Ray of Vinemont, Jenny Killen Hutto of Athens; two sons, Steve Killen, Jay Killen both of Memphis, Tenn., one sister, Donna Clark of Whitehall, Ohio; two brothers, the Rev. Harry K. Dodd of Checotah, Okla., Bill Dodd of Grant,Ohio; and one grandson, Joshua Ray of Vinemont.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Dellie Grace Cramer

Dellie Grace Cramer, 80, of Chattanooga, Tenn., formerly of Cullman, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002 at East Ridge Hospital in Chattanooga.

Funeral arrangements are being made by Heritage Funeral Home in Chattanooga.

Mrs. Cramer was born in Cullman to Benton Hamilton “B.H.” and Ella Drain Parker. She lived her entire adult life in Chattanooga where she was retired from Bacon Products Co. Inc. She was a member of Shephard Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Cramer; her parents; three brothers, Leon, Willard and Olen Parker; and two sisters, Elsie Hood and Vera Mann.

Survivors include two sons, Tony L. Cramer, A. Wayne Cramer both of Chattanooga; one daughter, Brenda J. (Don) Flynn of Memphis, Tenn.; three sisters, Wynell (D.L.) McHann, Ozell (Hershel) Brock, Ola Watson all of Cullman; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
