Forrest Wynell Gorham

Services for Forrest Wynell Gorham, 86, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002 at Welti Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Ray Lathem and Randy Sellers officiating, with burial in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gorham died Thursday, Feb. 21 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born April 28, 1915 in Atlanta, Ga. to Andrew Jackson and Ida Waldrop Deese. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Roy Gorham.

Survivors include three sons, John (Gail) Gorham of Glencoe, Billy (Glynda) Gorham of Welti and Harold (Paula) Gorham of Decatur; three brothers, Duell Deese of Tampa, Fla., Jean Deese of Cullman and Buell Deese of Simcoe; a sister, Merle Welch of Simcoe; seven grandchildren, Denise (John) Knappenberger of Cullman, Kelly Collins of Lampassas, Texas, Craig (Lena) Gorham and David (Brandi) Gorham, both of Glencoe, Susan (Brad) Casey of Hokes Bluff, Tony Gorham of Decatur, and Tami (Glenn) Reist of Moulton; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

James M. ‘Jim’ Hammick

Services for James M. “Jim” Hammick, 61, of Hayden will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002 at Hanceville Funeral Home, Dr. Sammie Reid officiating, with burial in Gardendale Chapel Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hammick died Wednesday, Feb. 20 at Woodland Medical Center. He was born in Jamestown, Tenn. on Feb. 7, 1941 to Eschol G. and Matilda Williams Hammick. He was the administrator at the Jefferson County Department of Health.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Jolene Hammick of Hayden; two sons, Brannon Hammick of Hanceville and Hunter (Candice) Hammick of Birmingham; a sister, Billie Helyn Brock of Braselton, Ga.; a granddaughter, Savannah Hammick of Birmingham; two nieces; and a nephew.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Roxie Mathews Oden

Services for Roxie Mathews Oden, 96, of Decatur will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002 at Peck Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Rock Creek Cemetery.

Peck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Oden died Thursday, Feb. 21 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Dec. 24, 1905 in Tennessee. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Decatur.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Kennedy Mathews; her husband, Curtis H. Oden; an infant daughter; a sister, Bertha Hankins; and eight brothers, Hobert Mathews, Cleve Mathews, Kay Mathews, Homer Mathews, Harold Mathews, J.R. Mathews, Clifford Mathews, and William Mathews.

Survivors include a brother, Clyde Mathews of Arab; and a sister, Mary Ivey Smallwood of Orlando, Fla.

Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Helen Stansell
Services for Helen Stansell, 55, of Cullman will be at 3:30 p.m.Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, Ray Ponder officiating, with burial in Bethsadia Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Stansell died Friday, Feb. 22 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born March 2, 1946. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clyde Turner.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Stansell; two sons, Dewayne (Tina) Stansell and Tonny (Kara) Stansell, both of Cullman; a daughter, Ginger (Herbert) Moore of Royston, Ga.; her mother, Joyce Turner of Hanceville; a brother, Frankie Turner of Hanceville; a sister, Edith Elliott of Hanceville; and five grandchildren, Nathan, Tashena, Tori, Jasmon and Josh Stansell; a great-grandchild, Alex Stansell.

Visitation will be at 5:45 p.m.

Ruby Jean Collier

Services for Ruby Jean Collier, 70, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m.Monday, Feb. 25, 2002 at Mount Carmel Church, the Rev. Gary Waddell officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Collier died Friday, Feb. 22 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born July 1, 1931 in Cullman to William F. and Velma V. Mathis Peek. She was a sales person for Heilig-Meyer.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph “Tiny” Collier of Cullman; three daughters, Rachel J. Lovell of Holly Pond, Ramona K. Hollis and Robyn L. Hall, both of Cullman; two brothers, James R. Peek of Florida and Donald F. Peek of Pensacola, Fla.; two sisters, Shirley D. Goss of Cullman and Rebecca Tatum of Montgomery; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Audrey Mann

Services for Audrey Mann, 85, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002 at Williams-McCracken Chapel, with burial in Sulphur Springs Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She died Thursday, Feb. 21 at Cullman Long Term Care. She was born June 19, 1916 to Robert and Mary Ryans Yeager. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her Folsom Center family and friends.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

Florence Campbell

Services for Florence Campbell, 85, of Hanceville will be at 1 p.m.Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002 at Mount Joy Baptist Church, the Revs. Bill Burkett and Jeff Helton officiating, with burial in Mount Joy Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Campbell died Thursday, Feb. 21 at her residence. She was born June 7, 1916 in Cullman to Ansel and Ludie Dollar Rhodes. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, James Campbell; two sons, Larry (Lisa) Campbell and Robert (Elaine) Campbell; a daughter, Barbara Joan (Don) Johnson; a sister, Norene Arron; a brother, Loyd Rhodes, seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild, all of Hanceville.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Milford Eugene Partain

Services for Milford Eugene Partain, 69, of Hartselle will be at 3 p.m.Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002 at Pattillo Street Church of God, the Rev. Shane Coppock officiating, with burial in Mount Tabor Cemetery.

Peck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Partain died Thursday, Feb. 21 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born in Morgan County on Sept. 12, 1932 to Amos and Velma Myrtle Plemmons Partain. He was a member of the Vinemont Church of God. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was also a private in Company C of the National Guard. He was retired from Wolverine Tube after 40 years where he worked in maintenance.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Griffith Partain of Hartselle; a son, Stanley Eugene Partain of Somerville; five daughters, Sandra M. Partain of Hartselle, Rhonda K. Lee and Myria A. Terry, both of Trinity, Tracey D. Partain of Decatur and Wendy L. Pike of Danville; three brothers, Milton H. Partain of Hanceville, Billy L. Partain of Gardendale and Mack Arthur Partain of Empire; and six grandchildren.

His nephews will be the pallbearers.

Visitation was Friday.

Bobby E. Roberts

Services for Bobby E. Roberts, 54, of Boaz, formerly of Cullman were Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002 at Etowah Memorial Chapel, the Rev. Bob Pruitt officiating, with burial in Marshall Memorial Gardens.

Etowah Funeral Home of Boaz was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Roberts died Tuesday, Feb. 19 at his residence. He was born Dec. 6, 1947 in Cullman to Millard H. and Lois Elen Calvert Roberts. He attended Fairview High School and graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the University of Mississippi where he received a master’s degree. He was a probation officer in Blount and Etowah Counties.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Jesca Roberts; a son, Jordan Roberts; two brothers, Bill (Barbara) Roberts and Jim (Dean) Roberts; and father- and mother-in-law, Jesse and Willene Gilliland.

Pallbearers were Jordan Roberts, Randy Roberts, Tim Ingram, Don Ingram, Danny Ingram, Benny Ingram and Jack Gilliland.

Elizabeth Willine McBrayer
Services for Elizabeth Willine McBrayer, 74, of Vinemont will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel with burial in Bethlehem West Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. McBrayer died Thursday, Feb. 21 at Health South Metro West Hospital in Fairfield. She was born June 28, 1927 to Myrtie and Ira Wix Hembree. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charlie Peary McBrayer; and one brother, Pete Hembree.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald Peary McBrayer, Donnie Wayne McBrayer; two daughters, Helen Joyce Rutledge, Margaret Jeanette Hite; three brothers, Marvin Hembree, Jim Hembree, David Hembree; one sister, Louise Tapscott; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Saturday.

William Melvin Miller

Services for William Melvin Miller, 78, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, the Rev. Billy Gable officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Miller died Saturday, Feb. 23 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Dec. 13, 1923 to Guy and Mamie Miller. He was self-employed in the retail business. He was a decorated World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He received the Purple Heart and a Victory Medal. He was a lifetime member of the D.A.V. and a member of Seventh Street Baptist Church for more than 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Guy Green and G.T. Miller.

Survivors include his wife, Othell Oakley Miller of Cullman; one daughter, Xonnie Miller (Dennis) Johnson of Cullman; four brothers, Othal Miller, Frank Miller both of Cullman, Bobby Miller of Hartselle, Fred Miller of Tuscaloosa; four sisters, Mildred Reid, Hilda Bartlett, Frances Kilgo all of Cullman, Dean White of Tuscumbia; two grandchildren, Jatthan (Melissa) Johnson, Taylor Johnson both of Cullman; and two great-grandchildren, Sydnee and Kacey Johnson of Cullman.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cullman County Hospice.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.
