Mildred Simmons Reeder Appleton
Services for Mildred Simmons Reeder Appleton, 82, of Falkville will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 17, 2002, at Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle, the Revs. Jimmy Shaneyfelt and Milan Dekich officiating, with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery in Cullman County.

Peck Funeral Home of Hartselle is in charge of arrangements.

She died May 17 at her residence. She was born Aug. 29, 1919 in Lauderdale County to Emmette Luther and Dillie Jones Simmons. She was a homemaker, member of Fairview Church of God and active in community service. She was an avid quilter and gardener.

She was the widow of the late Royal Reeder and Elmer Appleton. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Darlene Chenault; and two sisters, Kathryn Hudson and Altha Shaneyfelt.

Survivors include three sons, Bruce Reeder of Odenville and Johnny Appleton and Danny Appleton, both of Moulton; a daughter, Marty Appleton Smith of Hartselle; a brother, Leroy Simmons of Falkville; two sisters, Louise Harden of Falkville and Dot Tomlinson Hudson of Pell City; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Appleton, Waymon Appleton, Jerry Appleton, Bobby Appleton, Rod Hudson and Mitchell Tomlinson.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ottis Dodson Keller
Services for Ottis Dodson Keller, 80, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, the Revs. Truman Davis and Jason Murphree officiating, with burial in Hopewell Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Keller died Sunday, May 19. He was born July 8, 1921 to William C. and Jeanie Giles Keller. He was a parts and service manager.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virgie Patrick Keller; and his brother, William O. Keller.

Survivors include a daughter, Connie Keller (Aubrey) Hudson of Cullman; a brother, Jess Keller of Cullman; three sisters, Willodean Medlock of Cullman, Sue Mims of Clanton and Dorothy Ray of Gardendale; and two grandchildren, Matt Hudson and Benton (Erin) Hudson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hopewell Baptist Church or Hospice of Cullman County.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today.

Willie Edward Thomas

Graveside services for Willie Edward Thomas, 81, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2002 at Cullman City Cemetery, John Temple officiating.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Thomas died Saturday, May 18 at his residence. He was born April 12, 1921 in Alabama to Ed Wilburn and Allie Velma Quick Thomas. He was in sales and was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Jane Thomas Cabri.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Tupper Thomas; a daughter, Jean Moss Brooks; a brother, Freeman Thomas; a sister, Mildred Smith; five grandchildren, D’Ete Cabri Sewell, Gina Cabri Willoughby, David Moss Jr., John Moss, and Kathy Moss Brown; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Monday.

Hazel L. Oden

Services for Hazel L. Oden, 87, of Burton, Mich., formerly of Cullman, were Monday, May 20, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, Randy Makemson officiating, with burial in Flint Creek Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Oden died Friday, May 17 at her residence. She was born Nov. 15, 1914 to Oscar and Ellis Holmes Loyd. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Major T. Oden.

Survivors include a son, Gary Oden; a daughter, Hilda Fay Linzey; four sisters, Ethel Murrell, Mildred Lewis, Wanda Holmes and Willie Mae Couch; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Sunday.

Modene T. Jackson

Services for Modene T. Jackson, 90, of Crane Hill will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2002 at Bethlehem East Baptist Church, the Revs. Lawrence Normand and Tim Junkins officiating, with burial in Bethlehem East Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Hanceville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jackson died Sunday, May 19 at Cullman Health Care Center. She was born Aug. 5, 1911 in Hanceville to Walter and Eula Thompson. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include two daughters, Freida Fox of Birmingham and Elaine (Jack) Persall of Crane Hill; two sisters, Oniel Barnett of Hanceville and Mercedes Poole of Decatur; a daughter-in-law, Jackie Jackson of Middlesburg, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Howard Barnett, Ralph Barnett, Wesley Barnett, Jimmy Little, Ted Poole, and Kenny Thompson.

Visitation was Monday.

Douglas Armstrong Fuller

Services for Douglas Armstrong Fuller, 77, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at Williams-McCracken Chapel, Pastor Harold Hermetz officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements

Mr. Fuller died Monday, May 20 at Floyd E. Fann Veterans’ Home. He was born in Cullman on Aug. 9, 1924 to Forney and Eloise Armstrong Fuller. He was an historical architect and had restored many historical buildings and homes. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Historical Society. He graduated from Auburn on March 16, 1950 with a bachelor’s degree in architecture. He was a veteran of World War II and received the Bronze Star.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Stewart Wilks Fuller of Cullman; a stepson, Robert Stewart of Cullman; a stepdaughter, Lisa Stewart Johnson of Alabaster; two brothers, Asa B. Fuller of Knoxville, Tenn. and Fred E. Fuller of Pelham; and three grandchildren, Eric and Malory Stewart of Cullman and Cheyenne Johnson of Alabaster.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Juanita Joy Horn

Services for Juanita Joy Horn, 69, of Eva will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Brian Hawkins officiating, with burial in Union Hill Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Horn died Sunday, May 19 at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Dec. 13, 1932 in West Virginia to Omar Trenton and Mary Dell Vanscoy Flannigan. She was a waitress.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Lucas Bolton Horn.

Survivors include two sons, Alan Wayne (Nancy) Horn of Louisiana and John Trenton Horn; three daughters, Brenda Faye (Tom) Scruggs, Cheryl Lynn Alexander, both of Louisiana and Robin Lea Day of Cullman; a daughter-in-law, Rhonda Kay Horn of Cullman; four sisters; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ottis Williamson

Services for Ottis Williamson, 84, of Cullman will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Vernon Willis and Harold Widner officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Williamson died Sunday, May 19 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born May 2, 1918 in Cullman County. He was owner/operator of a fabric store. He was a member of Cullman Masonic Lodge No. 421.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron Benjamin and Ella Burks Williamson; six sisters, Myrtle Stephenson, Gertrude Davis, Eva Hudson, Bell Doyle, Ruth McCoy, and Callie Hendrix; and five infant brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Lera Williamson of Cullman; a sister, Agnes Tilley of Cullman; five brothers-in-law, Rader (Carolyn) White, Aubrey (Carolyn) White, Hermit (Janet) White, Ray White of Cullman and Ralph James of Foley; and two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Akers and Mary Alice (James) Rhodes of Cullman.

Visitation was Monday.

Jerry David Nickens Jr.

Services for Jerry David Nickens Jr., 33, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Keith Whitley officiating, with burial in Mission Grove Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Nickens died Saturday, May 18 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born March 3, 1969 in Cullman County. He was a carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Terwilliger Nickens; parents, Jerry David Nickens and Brenda Morgan; two sons, Steven Wade Terwilliger and Cody David Nickens of Cullman; a daughter, Sasha Terwilliger of Cullman; three brothers, Jeremy (Connie) Nickens, Christopher Nickens and William Nickens of Cullman; three sisters, Tammy Miller of Morgan City, Belinda Kimbrough of Falkville and Betty Stewart of Huntsville; and his grandmother, Ruth Brown.

Visitation was Monday.

Delphia Johnson

Funeral services for Delphia Johnson will be announced later by Cullman Heritage Funeral Home.

Alvin Barton McNeal
Services for Alvin Barton McNeal, 94, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2002 at Williams-McCracken Chapel, Edward Lindsey officiating, with burial in Moody Union Hill Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McNeal died Monday, May 20 at Carraway Medical Center. He was born April 27, 1908 in Cullman to Wiliam and Maggie Moody McNeal. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Cora Lee Lindsey McNeal of Cullman; two daughters, Linda Barnett of Manchester, Tenn. and Melanie (David) Rule of Vine Grove, Ky.; a brother, Robert McNeal of Sparta, Tenn.; a sister, Elma Bradford of Hanceville; a nephew, Ralph McNeal; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Dewey Isaac Taylor

Graveside services for Dewey Isaac Taylor, 2 months, of Cullman were Monday, May 20, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Cemetery, Tony Willis officiating.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He died Monday, May 20 at UAB Hospital. He was born March 18, 2002 at UAB Hospital to Jeffery Heath and Danielle Welch Taylor of Cullman.

Survivors include his parents; grandparents, Dana and Brenda Welch, Ronnie and Joan Taylor, all of Cullman; great-grandparents, Mable Brown, Gilbert and Earline Welch, Janelle Teichmiller and William P. and Gwenelle Taylor; two brothers, Mitchell Taylor and Brody Taylor; and a sister, Katie Taylor.
