Carrie Linda Howse

Services for Carrie Linda Howse, 96, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2002 at Moss Funeral Chapel, Harold Widner officiating, with burial in Nesmith Methodist Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Howse died Saturday, July 6 at Woodland Village Health Care. She was born April 10, 1906 to Samuel and Mevalina Smith Reid. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Lee C. Howse.

Survivors include three sons, A.L. “Bud” (Earlene) Howse of Warrior, Charles Dovard Howse, James Myron (Clariece) Howse both of Cullman; two sisters, Ruby Taylor, Elma Camp both of Cullman; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Elsie Geneva Teichmiller
Services for Elsie Geneva Teichmiller, 100, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2002 at Moss Service Chapel, Lynn Perkins officiating, with burial in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Teichmiller died Sunday, July 7 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Sept. 25, 1901 in Georgia to Moses Sylvanas and Willy Boyd Payne. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, J. Howard Teichmiller; two sisters, Estelle Walker and Nora Grizzard; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Monday.

Hildreth Prevatt Douglas

Services for Hildreth Prevatt Douglas, 78, of Falkville will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2002 at Union Hill Freewill Baptist Church, the Rev. Kenneth Reeves and Ellis Leverette officiating, with burial in the Union Hill Cemetery.

Peck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Douglas died Saturday, July 6 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Jan. 20, 1924 in Florida.

Survivors include a son, Lendall Louis Prevatt of Del Rio, Texas; two daughters, Clara Lee Garmon of Gainesville, Fla. and Weeta Douglas of Falkville; one sister, Dorothy Holland of Pondergass, Ga; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Monday.

Roy Lee Graves

Services for Roy Lee Graves, 72, of Gardendale will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2002 at Blountsville Funeral Home Chapel, E.L. Mullen officiating, with burial in Liberty Hill Cemetery.

Blountsville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Graves died Sunday, July 7 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. He was born in Blount County to Burvel and Vona Hillis Graves. He was retired from the real estate business and was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church in East Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Haynes Graves of Gardendale; son, Dennis Graves of Gardendale; two daughters, Patricia Gilmore of East Lake, Paula Graves of Gardendale; three brothers, Austin Graves, Wesley Graves both of Blountsville, Jack Graves of Childersburg; two sisters, Drucilla Graves, Emmie Shelton both of Blounstville; and two grandchildren, Ashley and Melissa Gilmore.

Henry Andy Beckman
Graveside services for Henry Andy Beckman, 79, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2002 at the Cullman Memory Gardens, Gary Byram will be officiating.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Beckman died Monday, July 8 at Woodland Medical Center. He was born in Alabama on Aug. 27, 1922 to John and Rose Belchner Beckman. He worked as a tile mechanic in floor covering and was a veteran from the Army.

Survivors include his wife, Annie B. Beckman; two sons, Charles (Rozetta) Beckman, Richard (Margie) Beckman; two daughters, Linda Kairitis and Frances (Gary) Byram; one sister, Frances Stewart; eight grandchildren, three great-grandsons; and mother-in-law, Gertie Wainwright.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Henry A. Beckman or in honor of Charles Beckman Jr. can be made to:National Niemann-Pick Disease Foundation, Inc.; P.O. Box 310; Fort Atkinson, Wis. 53538-0310.

Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Edwin Wayne Smith

Services for Edwin Wayne Smith, 66, of Center Hill will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2002 at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, the Revs. Robert Crawford and Hobert Thomas officiating, with burial in Center Hill Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Smith died Monday, July 8 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born in Cullman County on Aug. 12, 1935 to Thomas Dawson and Lois Walker Smith. He was a railroad foreman and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a long-time member of Center Hill Baptist Church where he served as Sunday school superintendent.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his wife, Betty I. Harris Smith; mother; son, Tom (Patty) Smith of Center Hill; daughter, Sheree (Steven) Parris of Hanceville; and five grandchildren, Brandon (Amanda) Parris of Cullman, Meghan Parris of Gardendale, Luke Smith, Lauren Smith, Mikey Smith all of Center Hill.

Lillian R. Miller

Services for Lillian R. Miller, 80, of Decatur will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2002 at Ridout’s Brown-Service Funeral Home, Robbie Stoffel officiating, with burial in East Lawrence Cemetery.

Ridout’s Brown-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Miller died Tuesday, July 9. She was retired from Decatur General Hospital.

Survivors include two sons, Rudy Miller, Hal Miller both of Decatur; a brother, Loyd Helms of Decatur; a sister, Bernice Smith of Florida; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

David Malcolm Rivers

Graveside services for David Malcolm Rivers, 49, of North Carolina will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2002, at Pleasant Hill No. 1, in Houston, Mike Tidwell officiating.

Nichols Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rivers died Sunday, July 7 at the VA Hospital in Birmingham.

Survivors include his wife, Dona Rivers of North Carolina; a daughter, Devon Rivers of North Carolina; a son, David Malcolm Rivers of Florida; two sisters, Susan Nicholas of Daphne, Melaney Andrews of Addison; his mother, Clara Rivers of Addison; grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Barnett of Mo.; and two grandchildren.

Sandy Deann Steele
Services for Sandy Deann Steele, 17, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Carol Drinkard officiating, with burial in Mt. Grove Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Miss Steele died Tuesday, July 9. She was born June 3, 1985 in Cullman County. She was a student at Fairview High School.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Denise Cole.

Survivors include her father Kenneth Ray “Smokey” (Ellen) Steele of Cullman; a brother, Scott Carr of Cullman; a sister, Misty (Zach) Harper of Garden City; grandparents, Truman and Barbara Steele of Cullman; great-grandmother, Margaree Stricklin of Cullman; step-grandparents, William and Laura Sparks of Cullman; and fiance, Eric Beard.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Myra Denise Cole

Services for Myra Denise Cole, 44, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2002 at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Carol Drinkard officiating, with burial in Mt. Grove Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cole died Tuesday, July 9 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born June 20, 1958 in Winston County to James Berry and Lollie Oden Cole.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Sandy Deann Steele; and her sister, Sarah Helen Cole.

Survivors include a son, Daniel Scott Carr of Cullman; a daughter, Misty Dawn (Zach ) Harper of Garden City; two brothers, Hulon (Kim) Cole of Hanceville, Eddie Cole of Texas; and a sister, Tillie (J.H.) Harden of Arab.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Jewell Johnsen

Services for Jewell Johnsen, 72, of Vinemont will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2002 at Williams-McCracken Chapel, the Rev. Steve Rodgers officiating, with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery.

Williams-McCracken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Johnsen died Monday, July 8 at her residence. She was born in Cullman County on Nov. 2, 1929 to W.P. and Lizzie Hopper McKenzie. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include three sons, Jerry D. Hooper of Helena, Robert Conley Hooper of Hartselle, James Richard Hooper of Cullman; daughter, Betty Jean Briske of Hartselle; brother, James Elton McKenzie of Price ville; four sisters, Rachael Hopper of Jones Chapel, Thelma Carter of Decatur, Edna Moore of Cullman, Linda Bostick of Battleground; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Vinola Twilley Burks

Vinola Twilley Burks, 73, of Cullman, died Tuesday, July 9 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born October 18, 1928 in Cullman County to Bart and Vera Day Twilley. She was a retired housekeeper for the Department on Aging.

Holly Pond Funeral Home made the announcement.

Survivors include a son, Michael (Connie ) Burks; two grandchildren, Tonnie (David) Brown, Jonathan Burks; and a great-grandchild, Angela Brown.

No funeral service is planned.
