Mrs. Myrtice S. Patrick, 84, of Ozark, died Friday morning, February 2, 2001, in a Dothan hospital following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2007, from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Reverend Isom Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors from 5:00 p.m. today until one hour prior to service time on Sunday when it will be in the church. The family will receive friends in the funeral home parlors from 5 until 7:00 p.m. this afternoon.
Mrs. Patrick was a native of Ozark where she was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She and her late husband, Lonnie Patrick, owned and operated Patrick's Service Station and Grocery until her retirement.
She was preceded in death bv her brother, J. I. Smith, January 8, 2007.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Jamelle and David Deloney, Webster, Texas, two sons and one daughter-in-law, David and Carol Patrick, Eufaula, Dwight Patrick, Ozark, a very special person that she loved like a daughter, Patricia Deloney Peters, Ozark, seven grandchildren, Scotty Patrick, Ozark, Christy Patrick, Parker, Fla., Donny Patrick, Montevallo, Britt Patrick, Eufaula, Blake Patrick, Eufaula, Brandy Deloney, Webster, Texas, and Dustin Deloney, Webster, 7exas, three sisters, Mildred Dell, Dothan, Eva Mae Smith, Ozark, and Martha Robinson, Black, one brother, Robert Smith, Montgomery, a special family
friend, Mary Clark, Ozark, several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Juanita Searcy Snellgrove, 72, of Lakewood, California, originally of Alabama, died Tuesday January 30, 2001 of ovarian cancer at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 8, 2001 at Chalkhead Baptist Church with the Reverend Tommy West officiating. Interment will follow in the church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors from 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, until one hour prior to service time on Thursday when it will be in the church. The family will receive friends in the funeral home parlors from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday evening.
Mrs. Snellgrove was born in Clopton on November 28, 1928 to Jacob Hoyt and Susie Searcy. She married Leon Faxon Snellgrove on February 7, 1947, and they moved to California in 1951 with the Navy, living in several cities throughout the state before settling in the Long Beach area.
She was preceded in death by a baby daughter in 1959. Following the death of Mr. Snellgrove in 1971, Mrs. Snellgrove raised her two young daughters in Lakewood, California. She retired from the United States Postal Service in 1992 after 23 years of service.
Mrs. Snellgrove received great enjoyment from cooking and baking for others. Many referred to her as the "cookie lady." She also loved to read, spend 'time in her rose garden, cross stitch pictures for herself and others, making photo scrapbooks for herself and others, and spending time with her four grandchildren was her greatest joy. She was constantly giving to her family and others, and will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and David Little of Anaheim, California and Susie and John Porter of Garden Grove, California; four grandchildren, Rebecca and Brian Little, Jonathan and Robert Porter; one sister, Eudora Napier of Ozark; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mr. Roy Griffin, 85, a resident of Ozark, died Monday January 29, 2001 at the VA. Hospital in Tuskegee.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 3, at 11 a.m. in the Greater Sardis Missionary Baptist Church, Reynolds Street, Ozark, with the Rev. Hudson officiating. Burial will be in the Westside Cemetery with Trawick Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Edward Stansbury Hart, age 70, of Ozark, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Fuqua Bankston Funeral Chapel with Rev. Randall Yelverton and Chaplain Talmadge Butler officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Garden; with military rites, Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. Wednesday until one hour prior to service time. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions are asked to be made to Wiregrass Hospice 980-D East Andrews Avenue Ozark, Ala., 36360.
Mr. Edward S. Hart, manager aeronautical engineering retired from the Fort Rucker Division of DynCorp on Monday March 31, 1997. Ed began a distinguished military career in 1948 and served 20 years in a variety of U.S. Army Aviator assignments including aircraft mechanic, crew chief, technical inspector, maintenance supervisor, U.S. Army 82nd Airborne paratrooper and expertise in glider at Ft. Bragg, N.C.
Upon his retirement from the Army in 1968, Mr. Hart came to work at Fort Rucker with Page Aircraft Maintenance Inc. and had worked on the Aircraft Maintenance Contract for 25 years. Mr. Hart held many important positions on this contract including quality assurance technician, supervisor of supply inspection, aircraft maintenance engineer, auditor/contractor administrator, director of quality, director of aircraft maintenance support shops (AMSS), as well as manager of aeronautical engineering. Additionally he worked with government contractors in Saudi Arabia for a year planning and administering the logistics program for a new fleet of Desert Hawk and Bell Combat Scout helicopters, and in Egypt for three years where he developed and implemented the Egyptian logistics program in support of the CH-47 Chinook helicopter.
Mr. Hart also served DynCorp admirably in his roll as administrator of the FAA Repair Station at Fort Rucker.
His career has carried him from the Army's first helicopters, the early H-13 and L-19 to
the latest warfighting machines the AH-64 Apache, OH-58 Kiowa Warrior, the UH-60 Blackhawk TH-67 Creek, and the helicopter of the future, the Commanche.
Other positive changes Mr. Hart had been involved in include the successful Specialized Repair Activity program that allows us to perform depot level repair of many aircraft components and the expanded utilization of automation equipment in the Aeronautical Engineering Department.
Upon retirement from the Aeronautical Engineering Department, Ed was awarded the Charles Taylor "Master Mechanic" award in appreciation for 50 years of dedicated technical expertise, professionalism, and many outstanding maintenance contributions to further the cause of aviation safety.
Mr. Hart is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edward Hart and Malvina Hart, and one sister, Eileen Dinatalli.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Edge Hart, Ozark; two daughters, Linda H. Childree and husband, Sam, Newton, and Patti H. Garcia and husband, Richard, Moultrie, Ga.; two sons, Barry M. Hart Ozark, and Jeffrey E. Hart and his fiancee, Debbie Spivey, and daughter, Kaitlin, Ozark; five grandchildren, William Childree, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Michelle and Austin Garcia, Moultrie, Ga., Carmen Valadez and husband, Larry, Ogden, Utah, Heather Sommers and husband, Randy, Richmond Hill, Ga.; four great-grandchildren Taylor Childree, Dakota Childree, Lauren Valadez, and Victoria Semmers.

Mrs. Estelle Downs Cordell, age 85, died at her home in Ozark Jan. 29, 2001, Monday, following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Rev. Leon Fortune and the Rev. Walter Reeder officiating.
Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Coffee County with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be given to Ebenezer Baptist Church or favorite charity.
Mrs. Cordell was a native of Coffee County. She was employed with Cowikee Mills until it closed, then retired from White Knight MFG.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Cordell, Ozark; one daughter and son-in-law Martha and Ronnie Williams, Midland City; two sons and daughters-in-law, Herbert and Betty Cordell, Eight Mile, and Bobby and Nina Cordell, Ozark; one brother, Joseph Downs and his wife, Gladys, Ozark; four grandchildren, Danny Cordell and his wife, Windy; Mark Cordell and his wife, Kim; Kim Byrd and her husband, Jeff; and Ronnie Michael Cordell and his wife, Nikki; one great-grandchild, Haiden Cordell; three nieces, Linda Kelley, Brenda Hyatt and Theresa Moates.

Mrs. Larah Griggs Webb, 95, of Ozark, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001 following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001 at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ken Spivey officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. Wednesday until one hour prior to service time. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. tonight.
Mrs. Webb was a member of Oakland Baptist Church in Fort Walton Beach Fla. She was one of 13 children and a long-time resident of Dale County.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ashley Lloyd Strickland and James Howard Webb.
Survivors include three daughters, Kathryn S. Palmer, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Dorothy S. Monk, Skipperville, and Jean S. Peaden, Pensacola Fla.; one sister, Ruby Riley, Skipperville; one brother Hoyt Griggs, Abbeville; four grandchildren, Melvin A. Monk, Pamela Peaden Burks, Deborah Peaden Smith and Jane Peaden; and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Jean Sellers, 74, of Enterprise, died Sunday evening, January 28,2001, in a Dothan hospital.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P M. Wednesday, January 31, 2001, from Holman Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors from 5:00 P M. Tuesday January 30, 2001 until service time on Wednesday The family will receive friends in the funeral home parlors from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. this evening.
Mrs. Sellers was a native of Houston, Texas, moving to Ozark in 1989 and to Enterprise in 1996. She was a sitter for the elderly in this area.
Survivors include two daughters, Gwen Conaway and her usband, Paul, Clinton, TN, arid Rita Jaggars, Echo, son-in-law, Charles Jaggars, Ozark, two sisters, Elsie Miller Euless, TX, and Rene Haswell, Graham, TX, three grandchildren, Debra Brown, Houston,. Rita Sobay, Ozark, and Shawn Jaggars, Echo, three great-grandchildren also survive.

James Harold Bright, 48, lost his battle with cancer January 28, 2001.
A memorial service will be Saturday February 3, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Southern Heritage Funeral Home, with hospice chaplain, Talmadge Butler, officiating and Southern Heritage directing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, Ozark.
Harold was born April 7, 1952, and was of the Baptist faith. He was employed for many years by AMX Trucking.
Survivors include his wife, Judy; his children, Bridget Apperson and Gidget Brogdon of Ozark; Tracy Taylor of Midland City; Jody Piercy of Dothan, Jason Dewayne Bright of Atlanta; Tommy Bright of Wicksburg; and a stepdaughter, Amanda Opry; father, James Thomas Bright, Skipperville; mother, Sylvia Jean Jones, Ozark; grandmother, Lillian Holloway Ozark; sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Randall Woodard, Ozark; sisters, Donna Winter, Ozark, and Brenda Lockamy South Carolina; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles also survive. Harold was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Delores Bright.

Mrs. Juanita G. Adams, age 64, of Ozark, died Sunday, January 28, 2001, at Searcy Hospital, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Wednesday, January 31, 2001, at Kent-Thornton Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Charles Littlefield officiating.
Internment will follow in Bethlehem Assembly of God Cemetery with Kent-Thornton Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the, funeral home from 6-8 PM Tuesday January 30, 2001. At other times the family will be at the home of her son, Larry Adams 2702 Thorndale Place, Dothan, Alabama.
Mrs. Adams was born December 21, 1936 in Houston County AI.,. to the late Lester Bud and Myrtle Lee Grice. One of Mrs. Adams' hobbies was cooking. She was a member of The VFW Ladies Auxiliary Chapter 9274, Falls Church, Va., and Order of the Eastern Star, Sharon Chapter 63, McLean, Va. She was a Southern Baptist by faith.
Survivors: Sons and Daughters-In-Laws, Lester and Karen Adams, Geneva, Al., Tommy and Carol Adams, Larry Adams, Dothan, Al., Michael and Deborah Adams, Ozark, Al., Daughter and Son-In-Law Vickie and Tim Dozier, Bazemore Mill Community Brothers, Sam Grice, Gordon, Al., Herman Grice, Midland City, Al.

Mr. Ruben D. Brown, 68, of Ozark, died Friday evening, January 26, 2001 in a Dothan hospital following an extended illness.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced later through Holman Funeral Home of Ozark.

Rev. Tommy Frank Arledge, age 54, of 109 Merry Dell Drive, Ozark, died Thursday evening, January 25, 2001 at the family residence after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. from the Patterson Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jerry Dooling, the Rev. Johnny Belcher, the Rev Randy Woodham and the Rev. Wilson Kendrick officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill U.M. Church cemetery in Ozark with Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 until 8 p.m. At all other times they will be at the family residence in Ozark. The family request that flowers be omitted and contributions be made to Wiregrass Hospice, 980D East Andrews Avenue, Ozark, 36360 or Christian Mission, 481 Geneva Highway, Enterprise, 36330.
He was a native of Houston County. He graduated from Carroll High School. He later enrolled at Huntington College where he earned his bachelor of arts degree and then completed seminary school at Emory University He had served various churches including Memorial Macedonia in Opp, McKenzie Charge, Pondtown, Pleasant Ridge-Sardis in Enterprise and was presently serving as pastor of the Pleasant Hill U.M. Church in Ozark. He had served his Lord in the Minisitry for the past 20 years.
Survivors include his wife, Linda E. Arledge, Ozark; two daughters, Maria L. Arledge and A. Michelle Arledge, both of Ozark; his parents, the Rev. Frank and Josie Arledge, Dothan; one sister, Joyce A. Pybus and her husband Mickey Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; mother-in-law, Mrs. Marle Enfinger, brothers-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Enfinger and Wayne Enfinger, all of Dothan; several nieces and nephews, several aunts and uncles. Honorary pallbearers will be the ministers of the Alabama-West Florida Conference.

Maggie Elizabeth Stanford Kelly, age 78, of 133 Third Street, Midland City, died early Wednesday morning, January 24, 2001, in the Ozark Nursing Facility following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday January 24, 2001, in the Cedar Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Thaxton Whiddon, the Res. Tommy West and a son, Gayfrey Stanford, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Holman-Headland Mortuary directing. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary in Headland. At other times the family will be at the home of her son, Gayfrey Stanford, County Road 18, Ozark, Alabama.
Mrs. Kelly, a lifelong resident of the Midland City community, was the daughter of the late Bryant Walding and Bessie Dasinger Walding. She had been formerly employed by the Wex-Tex Manufacturing Company in Headland. Mrs. Kelly was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, J. B. Stanford, Sr.; two sons, Willie Gerald Stanford and Johnny Wayne Stanford, and also an infant daughter.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Jane Weaver and her husband, Robert Weaver, Coosada, Alabama; four sons, Max D. Stanford and his wife, Eva Nell Stanford, Brundidge, Al.; Billy Stanford, Midland City; James Gayfrey Stanford and his wife, Diane Stanford, Ozark; J. B. Stanford, Jr. and his wife, Belinda Stanford, Dothan; a daughter-in-law, Marie Stanford, Midland City; sister, Frances Mercer, Lizella, Ga.; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Serving as active casket-bearers will be Jon Allen, Jeff Allen, Dewayne Stanford, Greg Ricks, Barth Walding
and Bryant Walding.

Lester L. Perault Sr., 79, of state Route 30, Constable, died late Monday night, Jan. 22, 2001, at his home, while under the care of his family and Hospice of the North Country.
Born in Westville, Sept. 12, 1921, he was the son of Harry and Hazel Lindsey Perrault. His parents predeceased him.
He attended Bombay Elementary School and graduated from Lawrenceville High School. Mr. Perault served in the United States Army from 1945 until 1946 and was honorably discharged. He began his working career as a dairy farmer. He later worked for Alcoa in Massena and the St. Lawrence County Highway Department. He retired in 1974 as a custodian at the Franklin County Courthouse in Malone. After his retirement, he drove area residents to their medical appointments.
In May of 1942, he was married to Rose Deno. The marriage ended in divorce in 1970. She survives. On May 5, 1978, he was married to Theresa Lamica in Malone. She survives.
Along with his wife, Theresa, surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law, Lester and Cara Perault Jr., and Patrick and Rhonda Perault, all of Ozark, Ala., Larry and Kathy Perault of Malone; and David and Sharon Perault of Omaha, Neb.; a step-son, Calvin Lamica of Malone; three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Arthur Sweeney of Winthrop, Rosealie and Robert Tummons of Ray Brook and Bernice Perault and Greg White of Saranac Lake; a brother, Donald Perrault of Winchester, W Va., 21 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Irene Rhodes and Bernice Perrault.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, at the Bruso-Desnoyers Funeral Home in Malone. A funeral service will be held from 10 a.m., Friday, in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Garry Giroux presiding. Burial will be in St. John Bosco Cemetery in Malone.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country, Inc., Route 2, Box 202 E, Malone, N.Y. 12953.

Earnest "David" Anderson, 66, of Ozark, died Tuesday, January 18, 200l at his residence.
Funeral services will be today at 11 a.m. from St. John's Catholic Church. Burial will follow, at Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home directing. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, 980D. E. Andrews Ave. Ozark, AL 36360
Born Nov. 21, 1934 in Richardsville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late James K. and Doshie E. Anderson.
David retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of sergeant first class in June l976, after nearly 21 years oF service. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam and had two subsequent assignments to Korea. He also was stationed at numerous military installations throughout the country including Schofield Barracks, Hi.; Ft. Sill, Okla.; Ft. Benning, Ga.; Ft. Bragg, SC; Ft. Jackson, S.C.; Hunter Army Air Force Base, Savannah, Ga.; and Ft. Rucker. He also served as a member of the Green Beret special force. He was a graduate of the Alabama Aviation and Technical College and was an expert in helicopter repair. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Louise Anders; and one brother, Walter Anderson.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Barbara Ann Farrell Anderson, whom he married in Cleveland, Ohio; four daughters, Mrs. Matt (Diane) Snyder, Ozark; Patricia Anderson, LaGrange, GA.; Mrs. Paul (Karen) Lugen, Prattville; Mrs. David (Kathy) Jahn, Lawrence (Tammy) Anderson, Columbia, SC.; two sisters, Mary Rose Albro, Louisville, Ky.; Dean Sumner, Richardsville, Ky.; four brothers, Joseph and Pat Anderson, Louisville, Ky.; Benjamin Anderson, Richardsville, Ky.; Mike Anderson, Knoxville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren.

Mrs. Tommie Jackson, age 83, of Ozark died at her home Jan. 17, 200l.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. from the chapel of Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Campbell officiating. Visitation will he this evening from 6 p.m. until service time. Family will receive friends at the funeral home chapel from 6 until 8 p.m, Burial will be in Harden's Chapel Cemetery, Lyons, Ga., Sunday, at 2 p.m.
Mrs. Jackson was born in Tooms County Ga. and the daughter of Tom and Lula Fuller. She married her husband Wilmer Jackson and traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and overseas. Even though this union of 47 years was not blessed with children, sister Tommie and brother Wilmer were parents to many children.
Wherever she went, she was always a witness for her lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of Faith Assembly of God in Ozark. She was loved by many and will be missed greatly by her family, friends and many adopted children.
Survivors include her husband of 17 years, Wilmer Jackson Ozark; two sisters, Elinor Beth Williams Lyons, Ga.; Jackie Slaughter Athens, Texas; several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Lutrell Patterson Strickland, 82, of Ariton, died Tuesday, January 16, 2001 at Dale Medical Center following an extended illness.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 18, from Fuqua-Bankston Chapel, with Rev. Franklin Bird officiating. Interment followed at Ariton Cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ariton United Methodist Church, at P. O. Box 226, Ariton, Alabama 36311.
Mrs. Strickland was a member of the Ariton United Methodist Church, and a lifelong resident of Dale County.
Survivors include her sister, Bernice Mae Clark of Ariton; brother, Elmer Edward Patterson of Crestview, Florida; special niece, Jessie Miller of Ariton; nephew, Chester S. Clark of Ariton; other nieces and nephews, Meg, Melinda, Sam, David, all of Florida; host of other great nieces and great nephews also survive.

Mrs. Ozie Griffin, a resident of Ozark died Monday Jan. 15, 2001 at her residence. Funeral services will be Friday Jan. 19, at 2 p.m. from St. Paul AME Church in Ozark with the Rev. Horace Fitchard, officiating. Burial will be in Travelers Rest Cemetery.

Mrs. Edna Thagard Tate, 85, of Ozark, died Sunday morning, Jan. 14, 2001, in Dale Medical Center following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 16, 2001 from Holman Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Johnny LaCarter and Ed Peters officiating. Interment will follow in Center Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors from 3 p.m. Monday Jan. 15, 2001 until service time on Tuesday. Mrs. Edna Thagard Tate was born in Covington County on Oct. 7, 1915, making her home in Ozark from early childhood. She was the daughter of Joseph Herbert Thagard and Anne Dromie V. Boothe, both pioneer Alabama families. Her great grandfather, George Washington Thagard, was the first probate judge of Crenshaw County when that county was founded about 1866. Mrs. Tate was a member of the Ozark Chapter Daughters of The American Revolution based on her Thagard lineage.
Mrs. Tate completed high school in Ozark and later attended college classes while living in Manila, Philippines. She married Alfred W. "Bill" Tate, a resident of Newton, in 1936, and they celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary in 2000. In 1937 Mr. and Mrs. Tate became residents of Washington, D.C. where Mrs. Tate entered United States Government employment as an accounting clerk. She continued her government work during the years of World War II, then resigned to care for their two children. She worked enough years under Civil Service to earn her retirement benefits in later life. In 1952 the Tate family transferred to Manila, Philippines where her husband was the Assistant Director of The Department of Veteran Affairs Regional Office. Mrs. Tate looked on the four years they lived in the Philippines as one of the best times of her life.
In 1957 the family returned to Washington, D.C. and later that year her husband was reassigned as Assistant Director of The Winston-Salem, North Carolina Veterans Affairs Office. After two years in Winston-Salem, the family moved to Atlanta where her husband was named Director of The Veterans Affairs Regional Office there. Atlanta was her home for the next 17 years. During her time in Atlanta, Mrs. Tate started her painting and made many pictures which have been passed on to her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Tate was a devoted wife and mother, a Sunday School teacher, and a loyal member of Center Ridge Baptist Church, having attended services there the last Sunday she was living.
Mrs. Tate was an experienced traveler, having crossed the Pacific twice by ship, having flown around the world with stops in Hong Kong, Bangkok, Karachi, Istanbul, Rome, Paris, and London. She also visited Mexico, Alaska, Canada, and many islands in the Caribbean area.
She is survived by her husband, Mr. Alfred W. "Bill" Tate, 211 Trotman Drive in Ozark; two daughters, Mrs. Martha Tate Roberts, wife of Dr. Durward T. Roberts, Reynolds Plantation, Green sboro, Ga., and Mrs. Carol Tate Bufton, wife of William C. Bufton of Nashville, Tenn.; five grandchildren, William T. Roberts and his wife, Christine, Atlanta, John T. Roberts and his wife, Karen, Denver, Michael T. Roberts and his wife, Angela, Chicago, David W. Bufton, Atlanta, and Suzi Bufton Fuller and her husband, Joseph R. Fuller, Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo.; nine great-grandchildren, Sara, Hope, and Jack Roberts, children of Bill and Chris Roberts, Alex and Madison Lynne Roberts, children of John and Karen Roberts, Michelle and Gabrielle Bufton, children of David Bufton, Carolyn and Brent Fuller, children of Suzi and Joe Fuller.
In addition she has two brothers, James Thagard, Ozark, and Joseph Thagard, Tallahassee, Fla., and one niece, Joyce Payne, Ozark.

Mrs. Mabelle Norwood, a resident of Skipperville, died Sunday, Jan, 14, 2001 at the Oakview Manor Nursing Facility in Ozark.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. from the Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church on Willa Street in Ozark with the Rev. James Norman officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Rose Baptist Church Cemetery in Skipperville with Trawick Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Eliza M. Holmes, a former resident of Ozark, died Sunday Jan. 14, 2001 in Ypsilanti Township, Mich. The viewing will be at Trawick Funeral Home Friday, Jan. 19, at 11 a.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow in Travelers Rest Cemetery.
