Ina McLeod, 69, of 2011 County Road 33, Ozark died Wednesday evening, Aug. 7, 2002, at her home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Rose Baptist Church in Skipperville with the Rev. J. Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. The body will lie in state from 10-17 a.m. Saturday at St. Rose Baptist Church. Ozark Memorial Chapel will be directing.

Jennifer Atwell, loving wife, mother, and friend passed into eternity to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, after a brief illness.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Southside Baptist Church in Ozark with the Revs. W.L. Sheffield and John Clark officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. Mrs. Atwell will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
Jennifer was an attorney in Dothan in partnership with Matt Lamere, who was also her close friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but her parting will leave us all with fond memories of an energetic, cheerful, friendly spontaneous and loving woman who made our lives the better for having known her.
She is survived by her husband, David Atwell, and her two sons, Taylor and Tyler. She is also survived by her mother, Carolyn Hearle of Columbus, Ga.; two brothers, John Hearle of Louisiana and Matthew Hearle of Ozark; her uncle and aunt, George and Judy Van Riper of Fort Hood, Texas; her grandmother, Susan Van Riper of Shy Beaver, Pa.; her in-laws, Earl and Jaynie Atwell of Dothan Emory and Joyce Atwell of Dothan, Jennifer and Teddy NeSmith of Orlando, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Gwen Cook, 47, of Ozark died Saturday Aug. 3, 2002, in Flowers Hospital.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at Ozark Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Aman officiating. Interment will be at 4 p.m. Monday in Hiwannee Baptist Church Cemetery in Waynesboro, Miss., with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors from 5-8 p.m. today with the family receiving friends during this time. In lieu vf flowers, memorials may be made to Ozark Baptist Church, 314 South Union Ave., Ozark, Ala., 36360.
Mrs. Cook was a native of Waynesboro, Miss., but lived in various locations where her husband was an education administrator. She served as a legal secretary for 13 years in Evergreen, Ala., prior to making her home in Ozark in 1998. Mrs. Cook was employed as an office manager with Coldwell Banker in Ozark. She was a member of the Art Guild, the Ozark Antique Society, and the Ozark Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Cook of Ozark; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Nikki Walker of Dallas, D'Lee Hutchinson of Meridian, Miss., Mersey and Peter Whitehead of Mobile, and Trinity and Wes Bonner of Waynesboro, Miss.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Josh Cook of Ozark and Mike and Celeste Cook Jr., of Meridian, Miss.; her maternal grandmother, Sally Esther Williams of Waynesboro, Miss.; one sister and brother-in-law, Becky and Brian Weingardt of Mobile, one brother and sister in-law, Neil and Liz Duvall of Waynesboro, Miss.; five grandchildren, Jayce, Alyse, Codi, Garrett, and Presley; two nieces, Katie and Kristin; and one nephew, Nathan.

Miss Bonnie Maureen Snellgrove, 95, of Ozark died Thursday evening, Aug. 1, 2002, in Oakview Manor Nursing Facility following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today at Westview Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Greg Aman officiating. Interment will follow with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors from 10 a.m. until the funeral time today, with the family receiving friends. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, 980-D East Andrews Ave., Ozark, Ala., 36360.
Miss Snellgrove was a native of Ozark and a graduate of Troy Normal School, now Troy State University receiving a degree in education. She worked with Snellgrove Dry Goods in Ozark until the store closed. Miss Snellgrove was a member of the Ozark Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents Molly Carmichael Snellgrove and William Walker Snellgrove; three brothers, Lewie Snellgrove, Mike Snellgrove and Bill Snellgrove; and two sisters, Helen Woods and Mamie Snellgrove.
Survivors include nieces and nephews, Helen Johnson, Jane Woods, Janet Snellgrove, Joan Carr, Pat Richards, Jim Snellgrove and Bill Snellgrove; great-nieces and great-nephews, Christopher Snellgrove, Sharon Andrews Little, Heather Bodiford, Shannon Andrews Sligar and Fred Adkins; great-great-nieces and nephews, Tiffani Little, Jamey Little, Fred Adkins IV Phillip Sligar, Evan Sligar, Michael Adkins and Brian Adkins.

Mrs. Mary E. Akers, 74, of Ozark died Thursday morning, Aug: 1, 2002, at her home following an extended illness.
Memorial services will be 3 p.m. today at St. John's Catholic Church with Father Chuck McCabe officiating and Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wiregrass Hospice, 980-D East Andrews Ave., Ozark, Ala., 36360.
Mrs. Akers was a native of Huntington, W.Va., but had lived in Ozark since 1970. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Akers. Survivors include one daughter, Marty Akers of Jackson, Miss.; a son and daughter-in-law John and Glenda Akers of Rowlett, Texas; three grandchildren, Michael Akers of Dallas, Patrick Akers and his wife, Kim of Houston, and Jennifer White and her husband, Brad of Houston; two great-granddaughters; and one great-grandson.

Mrs. Effie Mae Chancey, 93, of Ozark died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, in Dale Medical Center following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Albert R. Hunt and the Rev. Neal Brown officiating. Internment will follow in the church cemetery with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be 3 p.m. today in the funeral home parlors, until one hour prior to service time when it will be in the church. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. today in the funeral home parlors. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Building Fund, 4399 East Andrews Ave., Ozark, Ala., 36360.
Mrs. Chancey was a native and a life-long resident of Dale County and a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis P. Chancey in 1991.
Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Chancey of Ozark; one son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd and Valeta Chancey of Ozark; one granddaughter, Carol Chancey of Durham, N.C.; one sister, Elma Vee Pridgen of Ozark; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Harvey Hanks, 71, of Newton died Thursday morning, August 1, 2002, at his home following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday from Moore's Chapel Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Alvin Skipper arid the Rev. Al Norris officiating. Interment will follow in Newton City Cemetery with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be in the funeral home parlors from 6 p.m. today until one hour prior to service time on Saturday when it will be in the church. The family will receive friends in the funeral home parlors from 6-8 p.m. today. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, 980-D East Andrews Ave., Ozark, Ala., 36360.
Mr. Hanks was a native and life-long resident of Newton. He operated heavy equipment for 30 years with Development Engineering and Couch Construction, and was a member of Moore's Chapel Assembly of God Adult Sunday School Class.
Mr. Hanks was preceded in death by one son, Max Hanks; two grandsons, Mark Dean and Marcus Ryan Hanks; and one sister, Dorothy Herring.
Survivors include his wife, Amy Lee Newman Hanks of Newton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah and James Stephens, Joan and Danny Devine, and Audrey and Marvette Dean all of Newton; one daughter-in-law, Denise Hanks; six grandchildren, Sandy Smith and her husband, Jeff, Wayne Devine and his wife, Kellie, Amy Ward and her husband, Earl, Joe Dean, Dustin Hanks and Ashley Hanks; four great grandchildren, Zachery Devine, Caleb Devine, Treston Ward and Justyn Smith; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Christine and Leonard Williams of Midland City, and Ida and Richard Harris of Newton, one brother and sister-in-law, Shellie T. and Anita Hanks of Newton.

Mr. Ace Nobles Jr., 71, of Ozark died Thursday August l, 2002, at his home following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Holman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Riley Enfinger and the Rev. W. A. Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Concord Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home parlors with the family receiving friends at this time. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, 980-D East Andrews Ave., Ozark, Ala., 36360 or to Concord Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
Mr. Nobles was a native of Missouri, moved to the Skipperville area as an infant, and remained a life-long resident of Dale County. He was engaged in agriculture, working with Ozark Peanut and Fertilizer until his retirement. Mr. Nobles was a member of the Concord Congregational Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Estelle Thompson Nobles and Ace Nobles Sr.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Johnson Nobles of Ozark; one son, David Nobles of Skipperville; two grandchildren, Kim Goode and her husband, Tim, and Kristi Watson and her husband, Chris, all of Skipperville; two great-grandchildren, Timothy Goode and Jordan Goode of Skipperville; two sisters, Grace Hagler of Skipperville, and Shirley Cooper of Ozark; a very special nephew, Phillip Snell and his wife, Wanda; and several other nieces and nephews.

Charles H. "Chuck" Lambert, 47 of Richardson Drive, Daleville, died Monday morning, June 9, 2003 at the family residence after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Daleville Baptist Church with Dr. James Kilpatrick officiating. Burial will follow in the Daleville Memorial Gardens with Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the Daleville Baptist Church from 1 p.m. until service time on Wednesday.
Chuck attended the Vivian B. Adams School where he was a member of the Boy Scout Troop # 126. He was also a member of the Special Olympics and the Ft. Rucker Chargers Bowling Team as well as a member of the Daleville Baptist Church.
His father, Arville Allen Lambert preceded him in death.
Flowers will be accepted or donations could be made to the Vivian B. Adams School, 2047 Stuart Tarter Road, Ozark, Ala. 36360.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Jessie and Steve Crouch, Daleville, one sister, Lydia Ann Grooms (Clint), one brother, Jesse A. Lambert (Vivian) all of Daleville, nieces and nephews, Connie Everly, Allan Grooms, David and Keith Lambert, Shan Anderson.

Mrs. Lola Mae Watson, 88 of the Echo Community, died May 31, 2003, Saturday afternoon in the Ozark Nursing Facility following a long illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Reynolds and Chaplain Randal Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Echo Methodist Cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday from the Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Watson was a native and life long resident of Dale County, Alabama. She was a member of the Echo United Methodist Church.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, Cleave and Mary Gilmer Robinson; a brother, James Robinson; a sister, Mary Francis Elmore, and her husband Louie Watson.
Survivors include a daughter and son in law, Ruth and Johnnie C. Hagler of Ozark, a son, Dennis Watson of the Echo Community; five grandchildren, Wesley and Lanny Hagler, Wanda and Shawn Cryer, Audrey Watson, Amy Watson and Stephen Mote; three great-grandchildren, Cole Hagler, Darron Hill, and Amy Dunn. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She retired from the Welch plant in Union Springs, Alabama.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions are requested to be given to Wiregrass Hospice, 1970 East Andrews Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360.

Miss Oddie Morris, 86 of Ozark, died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at Oakview Manor Nursing Facility in Ozark.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 4 at the Church of God by Faith, King Street, Ozark, with Elder J.C. Smith, pastor, officiating. After the service, Miss Morris will be transported to Cincinnati, Ohio, for funeral services and burial. Trawick Funeral Home of Ozark, 334-774-8374, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Annabelle Rice, 85 of West Highway 27, Ozark, Alabama, died Friday morning, May 30, 2003 in the Ozark Nursing Facility following a long illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 2 2003, from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. William Hunt and Rev. Isom Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday from the Chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions are requested to be given to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 1124 Co. Rd. 11,
Ozark, AL 36360 OR Wiregrass Hospice, 1970 East Andrews Avenue, Ozark, AL 36360.
Mrs. Rice was a native of Dowagiac, Michigan having moved to Ozark, Alabama in 1968. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Rice was a homemaker and for many years enjoyed quilting and baking, and served as nursery worker in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald L. Keene of Dowagiac Michigan; an infant; a daughter, Beverly Luthringer; a grandson, Donald Keene; three sisters; and one brother.
Survived by husband, Lee D. Rice, of Ozark; three sons, Dennis Rice and wife, Judy, of Ozark; Thomas Keene and wife, Pat, of Dowagiac, Mich., and Rolland Keene and wife, Mabel, of Dowagiac, Mich.; one son-in-law, Ed Luthringer, of Dowagiac, Mich.; one brother, Floyd Rife, of Dowagiac, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Elvin Gene Sauls, 70 of Ariton died at his home Wednesday morning, May 28, 2003 following an apparent heart attack.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 30 at Mt. Olive Cemetery with the Rev. Hugh Hawkins Owen Jr. officiating. Visitation will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
Mr. Sauls was a native and lifelong resident of Dale County, Ala. He was a member of Ariton Baptist Church and Ariton Masonic Lodge 177. Mr. Sauls served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired from DynCorp at Fort Rucker after 32 years of service.
Survivors include wife, Edna E. Sauls of Ariton; three sons Dan Sauls of Troy, Bobby Furr of Prattville, and Alan Furr of Ashville; three sisters Martha Rattazzi of Ely, Nev., Mary Danner of Hattisburg, Miss., and Betty Deyo of Montgomery; one brother, Milton Sauls of Pensacola, Fla.; four grandchildren, Natasha Sauls and Trenton Sauls of Rehobeth, Parrish Furr and Emily Furr of Ashville one great-grandchild, Cameron Furr of Trussville.

Mrs. Gladys Paulk Payne, 92 of Ariton, died Wednesday evening, May 28, 2003, in Troy following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be 2, p.m. Friday, May 30 at Center Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Joey Pettis officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to services.
Mrs. Payne was a native of the Evergreen Church Community of Ariton, where she was a member of Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Tullie Payne; and son, William J. "Billy" Payne.
Survivors include one daughter, Sue Kelley of Jack; five grandchildren, Billy Ray Payne, William Lloyd Payne, Delia Payne, Danny Payne, and Sheila Leverett; two great-grandchildren, Lindsay Leverett and Logan Leverett.
