Maebell Hill

80, Courtland

A graveside service for Maebell Hill, who died Wednesday, August 27, 1997, in Cordova, Tenn., was held Friday, August 29, at Courtland City Cemetery. The 2 p.m. service was officiated by Robert Gatlin and directed by Ridout's Brown Service Funeral Home.

She was born to Joseph and Mattie Jordon and was a member of Courtland Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Selma Hill; two sons, Jimmy Hill of Courtland and Selma Hill Jr. of Tuscaloosa; two daughters, Wanda Gatlin of Cordova, Tenn. and Elouise Rhodes of Prattville; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

William Allen Rutherford

56, Rust Engineering, Birmingham

A memorial service for William Allen Rutherford was held Thursday, August 28, 2 p.m., at Southern Heritage Chapel with Ridout's-Brown-Service directing.

Mr. Rutherford died Monday, August 25, 1997.

He was born in Gadsden and was a long-time Birmingham resident. He graduate from the University of Alabama with a degree in engineering, served as an officer in the U.S, Army in Europe and spent most of his career as an employee of Rust Engineering.

Survivors include his wife, Elsa Dodd Rutherford; two daughters, Elizabeth Johnson of Birmingham and Melissa Nemiro of Charlotte, N.C.; his parents; Bill and Henrietta Rutherford of Gadsden; a sister, Cathy Waldrup of Rainbow City; one granddaughter; nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to UAB Hospice, phone 205-934-1932.

Timothy Edward Baird

51, Counselor, Decatur

Funeral for Timothy Edward Baird was held Thursday, August 28, 2 p.m., at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Craig Carlisle and Dr. Tom Moore officiating.

Burial was in the Aldridge Grove Cemetery with Shelton Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Baird died Tuesday, August 26, 1997, at Parkway Medical Center Hospital.

He was born in Amarillo, Texas and was owner of Southern Counseling Services.

Mr. Baird is survived by his wife, Brenda White Baird; two daughters, Taylor Marie Baird and Makinly Ann Baird, both of Decatur; his mother, Regina Baird of Scottsdale, Ariz.; five brothers, Roy Lee Baird of Phoenix, Ariz., Larry Baird of Tucson, Ariz., George Baird of Glendale, Ariz., Ricky Baird of Dallas, Texas, and David Baird of Scottsdale, Ariz.

Pallbearers were Gene Waldon, Tom Moore, Ken McCown, J. T. Masterson, Wendell Ryland and Forney Howard.

The family request memorials be made to Julian Harris Elementary School.

Amanda O. Billings

North Courtland

Amanda Olivia Billings died Friday, August 29, 1997.

The funeral was held Wednesday, September 3, 1 p.m., at First Missionary Baptist Church in Courtland.

Burial was in the Courtland Cemetery with Thompson and Son Funeral Home directing.

Rodney Oneal Wilkerson

24, maintenance worker, Trinity

The funeral for Rodney Oneal Wilkerson was held Monday, September 1, 11 a.m., at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Buford Parker officiating.

A graveside service was held Tuesday, September 2, 2 p.m., at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Mobile with the Rev. James Hoven officiating.

Mr. Wilkerson died Friday, August 29, 1997, in a car accident on Morgan County 41.

He was born in Mobile and was a member of West Chickasaw Baptist Church.

Survivors include his father, Ronald Wilkerson of Theodore; his mother, Connie Musten of Trinity; one sister, Kristy Wilkerson Cottingham of Trinity; his stepfather, Randall Deon of Trinity; and a grandmother, Sarah Wilkerson of Chickasaw.

Pallbearers were David Conners, Derick Davis, Stevie Rester, Joel Ters, Clint Ulhman and Mike Ulhman.

James Hillard Mitchell

67, bus driver/farmer, Moulton

Funeral for James Hillard Mitchell, who died Friday, August 29, 1997, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center, was held Sunday, August 31. The 2 p.m. service was held at Union Hill Baptist Church with Steve Hood and Amos Hood officiating.

Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with Elliott Funeral Home directing.

He was born in Lawrence County to William and Essie Mitchell.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Borden Mitchell; one son, Ronald Dewayne Mitchell of Moulton; two brothers, Price Mitchell of Mount Hope and Cecil Mitchell of Falkville; one sister, Reba Pierce of Hatton; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Windell Mitchell, Wayne Mitchell, Talmadge Pierce, Roger Pierce, Steve Cameron, Stanley Mitchell, Brian Pearson and Patrick Terry.

Modie Sandlin Hill

91, garment worker, Moulton

Funeral for Modie Sandlin Hill, who died Sunday, September 7, 1997, at Parkway Medical Center Hospital, was held Tuesday, September 9. The 2 p.m. service was held at Liberty United Methodist Church with the Revs. David Weaver and Bob Ross officiating.

Burial was in the church cemetery with Elliott Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Hill was born in Lawrence County and was also a homemaker. She was the widow of the late Thomas Hill.

Survivors include two sons, Alton N. Hill of Hartselle and Curtis Lee Hill of Moulton; three brothers, Percy Sandlin and Virgil Sandlin, both of Moulton and Dee Sandlin of Trinity; one sister, Imogene McDonald of Moulton; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Grandsons and nephews were the pallbearers.

David Allen Poole

24, rodeo worker, Decatur

David Allen Poole died Sunday, September 7, 1997, in an automobile accident in Madisonville, Ky.

The funeral was held Tuesday, September 9, 2 p.m., at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Bennie Reynolds officiating.

Burial was in the Roselawn Cemetery.

He was born in Decatur.

Survivors include his father, Don A. Poole of Moulton; his mother, Patricia Lynne DeHart of Decatur; one sister, Jo Ellen Hensley of Hartselle; one stepbrother, Glen DeHart of Conroe, Texas; two stepsisters, Carla Robertson and Michelle DeHart, both of Conroe; and his grandparents, Al and Flora Voci and Mr. and Mrs. George Moats, all of Decatur.

Pallbearers were Patrick Green well, Jeff Lowery, Ronnie Prater, Brandon Holmes, John Green well, Alen Vest, Bill Littrell and Brent Moats.

George Hershel Wade

81, millwright, Moulton

A graveside service for George Hershel Wade, who died Monday, September 8, 1997, at Medical Park Convalescent Center in Decatur, was held Tuesday, September 9. The 2 p.m. service was held at Moulton Memory Gardens with the Rev. B. L. Hale Jr. officiating and Elliott Funeral Home directing.

He was born in Lawrence County and was retired from Ford Motor Co.

He is survived by one sister, Frances Kracke of Courtland.

Pallbearers were Bo Agee, Garland Jones, Brooks Kracke, Alan Thomason, Joe Vinson and Jack Wilson.
