ATHENS - Thomas Benton Barksdale, 82, of 23621 Mooresville Road died Monday. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Bobby Robinson, Toney Vining and Glenn Brackeen officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Elease Bowers Barksdale of Athens; one sister, Mary Black of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.

Gladys W. Beavers
ATHENS - Gladys W. Beavers, 96, of Hobbs Street died Sunday at Limestone County hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home in Athens with Robert H. Stegall officiating.
Burial was to be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Beavers was a graduate of Florence State Teachers College, a homemaker, a member of First Christian Church of Athens and was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil L. Beavers.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Robert G. Billings Sr.
TAFT, Tenn. - Robert G. Billings Sr., 63, died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Davis Billings of Taft; one son, Robert G. Billings Jr. of Taft; one daughter, Vickie Landgren of Lamont, Ill.; one brother, Charles Billings of Lamont; one stepbrother, Marshall Batt of Woodville; four sisters, Judy Billions of Ardmore, Ala., Barbara Anderson of Huntsville and Rosa Page and Carol Fortenberry, both of Hazel Green ; and two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation is today at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mamie Bradford
KELSO, Tenn. - Mamie L. Carter Bradford, 80, of 332 Howell Hill Road died Monday at a Fayetteville, Tenn., hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with Bros. Sam Gulley and Craig Clemmons officiating.
Mrs. Bradford was a native of Lincoln County, a homemaker and a member of the Nazarene Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Martha McGehee and Robbie Mathias, both of Kelso, and Debbie Koonce of Fayetteville; six sons, John W. Bradford and Robert Glenn Bradford, both of Kelso, Anthony Bradford of Virginia, Barry Bradford of Ohio, Ronnie Bradford of Pennsylvania and Mike Bradford of Fayetteville; and 31 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary E. Clanton
BOAZ - Mary Elane Clanton, 71, of 544 Kerri Lane died Sunday at her home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at New Union FCM Church.
Burial will be in Walls Chapel Cemetery with Carr Funeral Home of Boaz in charge.
Survivors include four daughters, Martha Clanton and Peggy Wilson, both of Boaz, Annie Rau of Indiana and Patricia Baugh of Albertville; six sons, Larry Clanton of Albertville, Danny Clanton of Georgia, James Clanton, Randy Clanton and Jeffrey Clanton, all of Boaz, and Gary Clanton of Susan Moore; one sister, Iona Clanton of Boaz; three brothers, Virgle Moore of Attalla, Elmer Moore of Douglas and James Moore of Altoona; and 23 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Rosalie Cooke
TONEY - Rosalie Cooke, 61, died Monday at her home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:45 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Wheeler Kidd officiating.
Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Cooke was a native of Chattanooga, Tenn., and had lived in Madison County since 1956. She retired from Teledyne Wah Chang and was a member of Harvest Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur M. Cooke III of Huntsville; two daughters, Patti Cooke and Terry L. Carter, both of Toney; one sister, Frankie Hill of Tennessee; three brothers, Charles Hise of Pennsylvania, Phillip Hise of Tennessee and Chester Shirey of Texas; special cousin, Betty Beal of Huntsville; special uncle and aunt, Roy and Ann Parrish of Tennessee; and two grandchildren.
Visitation is today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Family Care.

Jessie W. Craig
FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. - Jessie W. Craig, 85, of 69 Gwathney Church Road died Saturday at her home. The memorial service is today at 3 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Todd Jenkins officiating.
Mrs. Craig was a native of Canada, a former employee of Burroughs Corp. and a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Raymond Washburn of Madison and William Washburn of San Mateo, Calif.; two stepsons, John Craig and James Craig, both of Texas; and three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.

Mary Davis
GUNTERSVILLE - Mary Victoria McClendon Davis, 81, of 55 Ashworth St. died Sunday at a local hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Carr Funeral Home in Guntersville.
Burial was to be in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Bolding of Guntersville; one son, Burlon Davis of Guntersville; two sisters, Flossie Thompson and Louise McClendon, both of Tennessee; one brother, Thomas McClendon of Tennessee; and seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Gene O. Dennis
MADISON - Gene Owen Dennis, 64, died Thursday at his home. The memorial service is today at 7 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel.
Mr. Dennis was a native of Chilton County and a resident of Madison for 20 years.
Survivors include his wife, Nadejda P. Lioubomoudrov of Madison; one son, Stanislav Lioubomoudrov of Madison; and one sister, Patricia Stephens of Huntsville.
Visitation is today from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Christine C. Fletcher
Christine "Bitsy" Crutcher Fletcher, 52, of Huntsville died Saturday at her home. The funeral will be Thursday at noon at Madkins Chapel C.P. Church in America with the Rev. Endia Scruggs officiating.
Burial will be in Northside Cemetery with Nelms Memorial Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include one son, Thaddeus Bernard Crutcher of Huntsville; one brother, Billy Eugene Crutcher of Huntsville; one sister, Barbara Ann Crutcher Lanier of Huntsville; and three grandchildren.
Her body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Elizabeth Floyd
BOAZ - Elizabeth Ann Lawler Floyd, 59, of 410 Martin Road died Dec. 6 at a Birmingham hospital. The funeral was Dec. 9 at Albertville Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery in Boaz.
Survivors include her husband, Ray Floyd; three daughters, Barbara Floyd and Susan West, both of Boaz, and Anita Nettuno of Montgomery; mother, Lorene Lawler of Arab; two sisters, Betty Parker and Joyce Little, both of Arab; and one brother, Delton Lawler of Tuscumbia.

Jeff O. Gant
SCOTTSBORO - Jeff O. Gant, 68, died Monday at his home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home with the Rev. J.A. Linville officiating.
Burial will be in Gant Cemetery.
Mr. Gant was a Baptist and a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include a daughter, Joan Davis of Scottsboro; three brothers, Rev. Otis Gant of Fyffe, Ray Gant of Florence and Eugene Gant of Phoenix, Ariz.; and a special friend, Brenda Gass.
Visitation is today until 9 p.m.

Nadine S. Grayson
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Nadine Sharp Grayson, 85, died Monday at a Louisville hospital. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Ed Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in Rice Cemetery.
Mrs. Grayson was a former member of Northside Baptist Church and a native of Huntsville.
Survivors include one son, Wayne Sharp of Louisville; one sister, Robbie Sanders of Hazel Green ; three grandchildren, Michael Wayne Sharp of Jonesboro, Ga., and Sherry Lynn Head and Donna Bension, both of Louisville; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association.

Bessie M. Gregory
ARAB - Bessie M. Gregory, 89, died Monday at a local nursing home. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Gober Funeral Home in Arab.
Burial was to be in Arab Memorial Cemetery.

Quinton J. Hamrick
STEVENSON - Quinton J. Hamrick, 78, died Sunday at his home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson with Amy Vaughn officiating.
Burial will be in Stevenson City Cemetery.
Mr. Hamrick retired from the Air Force as a colonel. As a command pilot, he flew 75 missions in the Berlin airlift. He also served as an instructor pilot and was a commander of the Air Forces ROTC detachment at the University of Tennessee.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Wynne Hamrick; three sons, Glynne Hamrick of Hendersonville, Tenn., Lynne Hamrick of McMinnville, Tenn., and Wynne Hamrick of Montgomery; four sisters, Loeburta Henderson of Tulsa, Okla., Maxine Nelson of Hobbs, N.M., Janie Henderson and Barbara Strain of Colorado City, Texas; and five grandchildren.
Visitation was to be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Steve Helton
SCOTTSBORO - Steve Helton, 43, died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Venable officiating.
Burial will be in Old Sardis Cemetery.
Survivors include his mother, Myrtle Grider of Scottsboro; his stepfather, Russel Grider of Scottsboro; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Visitation was to be today from 1 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Richard A. Hughes
BRIDGEPORT - Richard Andrew Hughes, 70, died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson with Rev. James Johnson and the Rev. Larry Gillian officiating.
Burial will be in Harris Chapel Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Betsy Hughes; two daughters, Sheila Spangler and Glenda Johnson, both of Bridgeport; two sons, Tommy Hughes and Barry Hughes, both of Bridgeport; three stepdaughters, Sandra Collett of Chattanooga, Gayle Nunley of Flat Rock and Carol Warren of Bridgeport; three sisters, Johnnie Roland and Bessie Carlile, both of Bridgeport, and Betty Blevins of Kimball, Tenn.; and 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is today from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Sarah Lewter
UNION GROVE - Sarah Lewter, 92, died Monday at a local nursing home. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Arab Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial was to be in Rescue Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Billy J. McDonald of Union Grove; two stepdaughters, Carolene Coulter and Mary Miller, both of Ardmore; two stepsons, Charles Lewter of Rogersville and Calvin Lewter of Birmingham; and nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Tommie L. Lockhart
HARVEST - Tommie Lee Lockhart, 84, of 465 Smith and Vassar Road died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Wednesday at noon at Pine Grove M.B. Church with the Rev. Dave McGlathery officiating.
Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery with Royal Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Lockhart was a 70-year member of Pine Grove M.B. Church and a member of Elks Lodge No. 977.
Survivors include five daughters, Christine E. Canada and Ida Mae Hamlet, both of Huntsville, Queenie E. Clark of Harvest, Louise L. Morgan of Chicago and Doris O. Sizer of South Holland, Ill.; three sons, Tommie Louis Lockhart and George C. Lockhart, both of Huntsville, and Kenneth T. Lockhart of Genoa, Ill.; and 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
His body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Janet M. Matthews
STEVENSON - Janet Marie Matthews, 47, died Sunday at a Chattanooga hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson with Charles Cobb officiating.
Burial will be in Stevenson City Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Lee Matthews Sr.; two daughters, Felechia Matthews and Kristy Matthews of Stevenson; one son, Ronnie Lee Matthews Jr. of Stevenson; parents, Robert and Christine Evans of Hollywood; two sisters, Dathy Hutchens of Stevenson and Mary Ruth Williams of Long Branch, N.J.; one brother, Robert Evans Jr. of Hollywood; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Paul H. McQueen Sr.
ARAB - Paul Howard McQueen Sr., 79, of 1138 Sundown Drive N.W. died Dec. 6 at a local hospital. The funeral was Dec. 8 at Episcopal Church of Epiphany in Guntersville.
Burial was in Arab Memorial Cemetery with Arab Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabet; three daughters, Paula McQueen of Georgia, Rhonda Saylor of Helena and Belinda Wilks of Arab; one son, Paul H. McQueen Jr. of Trussville; one sister, Julia Schad of Brewton; two brothers, Edwin McQueen of Fayette and Kendricks McQueen of Florida; and seven grandchildren.

Irene Parker
SYLVANIA - Irene Parker, 78, died Sunday. The funeral was today at 11 a.m. at Rainsville Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Payne officiating.
Burial was in Trinity Cemetery.
Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Parker; and one son, Kenneth Parker.
Survivors include one daughter, Kay Spears of Fairbanks, Alaska; one son, Joe Parker of Henagar; three sisters, Hazel Haymon of Mobile, Ann Land of Rome, Ga., and Sue Bowman of Rainsville; two brothers, Ike Ragsdale of Sylvania and John Ragsdale of Hixson, Tenn.; and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Shirley A. Sanders
GURLEY - Shirley Ann Sanders, 69, died Friday. The funeral will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Twickenham Memory Gardens.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two sons, George Sanders of Gurley and Matthew Sanders of Albertville; one sister, Joni Dziewior of Lacombe, La.; and two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation is today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Twickenham Funeral Home East.

Nannie Sisk
FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. - Nannie Sue Richardson Sisk, 86, of 502 Hatcher Drive died Monday at a Fayetteville hospital. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with Bros. Winford Claiborne and Joe Brown officiating.
Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery.
Mrs. Sisk was a native of Lincoln County and a member of Molino Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Louise Casey.
Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Gray and Jean Brooks, both of Fayetteville; three sons, Allen Sisk, Robbie Lee Sisk and Tommy Sisk, all of Fayetteville; and 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is today at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ruth M. Sutton
SECTION - Ruth Mitchell Brown Sutton, 77, died Sunday. The funeral was today at 11 a.m. at Sand Mountain Funeral Home in Rainsville.
Burial was in Old Sardis Holiness Church Cemetery in Powell.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Thompson of Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., and Louise Pike of Section; two sons, E.J. Brown of Section and M.D. Brown of Powell; four sisters, Beason Hosch of Rainsville, Wilda Frazier of Valley Head, Freddie Hollis of Chattanooga and Bobbie Cooper of Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.; and 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Blanch M. Thompson
VALHERMOSO SPRINGS - Blanch McCutcheon Thompson, 91, of Talucah Road died Sunday at her home. The funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Valhermoso Holiness Church with the Rev. Melvin Brown and the Rev. Donald Trosper officiating.
Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Peck Funeral Home of Hartselle in charge.
Mrs. Thompson was a native of Morgan County, a homemaker and a 69-year member of Valhermoso Springs Holiness Church.
Survivors include her husband, Nathan Thompson of Valhermoso Springs; three sons, Howard Thompson and Hurshel Thompson, both of Valhermoso Springs, and Hammond Thompson of Laceys Spring; three daughters, Louise Elrod, Lois West and Linda Atchley, all of Valhermoso Springs; and 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Peggy S. Wood
SUMMERVILLE, GA. - Peggy Sue Wood, 60, died Sunday at a Birmingham hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Albertville.
Burial was to be in Painter Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, M.T. Wood; three daughters, Beverly Mann, Donna Calaway and Connie Wood, all of Georgia; one son, Philip Wood of Georgia; two sisters, Opal Tucker and Helen Fuller, both of Boaz; one brother, Harold Baldwin of Albertville; and five grandchildren.

Nellie C. Woods
ELORA, Tenn. - Nellie C. Woods, 91, of 499 Vanntown Road died Sunday at a local hospital. The funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Milton Martin and the Rev. Ray Gardner officiating.
Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Higgins Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Woods was a native of Marshall County, a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Della Mae Woods.
Survivors include four daughters, Sarah Brewer and Wanda Steger, both of Flintville, Tenn., and Peggy Pruett and Barbara Thrasher, both of Elora; two sons, James Woods of Fayetteville, Tenn., and Carl Woods of Wyoming; one half brother, Ralph Crossley of Georgia; one half sister, Lillian Taylor of Hammond, Ind.; and 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and four great-great-granchildren.
Her body was to be at the church today from noon to 2 p.m.

Shirley Wright
SELMER, Tenn. - Shirley Jean Wood Wright, 62, died Sunday. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home chapel in Cherokee with the Rev. Jerry D. Woods officiating.
Survivors include two sons, Danny Cossey of Gurley and Dennis Cossey of Nashville; two daughters, Donna Moffett of Decatur and Debbie Wasserburger of Huntsville; one brother, Jack Wood of Leighton; four sisters, Lib Ezekiel of Florence, Pat Phillips of Leighton and Bea Mills and Barbara Dixon, both of Michie, Tenn.; and nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild and two stepgreeat grandchildren.
Visitation is today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Nelle Wyatt
Nelle Wyatt, 76, of Huntsville died today at a local hospital. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Mrs. Wyatt was a member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jerald Wyatt of Huntsville; one son, James Allan Wyatt of Lebanon, Tenn.; two daughters, Pryntha Akin and Deborah Lynn Callins, both of Huntsville; two sisters, Willene Fitzpatrick of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Betty Jean Fletcher of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; one brother, Jerry T. Huddleston of Mt. Juliet; and six grandsons.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
