Harry E. Battles
BOAZ - Harry Evan Battles, 76, of 604 Elder St. died Tuesday at a local hospital. The funeral was today at 11 a.m. at Carr Funeral Home in Boaz.
Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Mr. Battles had retired from the Boaz Housing Authority and was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Lorene Battles; one daughter, Mary Helen Jones of Boaz; four sisters, Sue Terry and Lillian McCloud, both of Boaz, Vonda Stovall of Gadsden and Mildred Leon of California; one brother, Leon Battles of Boaz; and one grandchild.

Fount Clark Jr.
Fount Clark Jr., 73, of Huntsville died Wednesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home with the Rev. Wallace Green officiating.
Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Mr. Clark was a member of the Church of Christ, Fraternal Order of the Eagles for 20 years and American Legion. He was also a U.S. Army veteran and had retired from Huntsville Manufacturing.
Survivors include one daughter, Faye Clark Robinson of Toney; two sons, Jerry Thomas Clark of Huntsville and Jackie Wayne Clark of Belvidere, Tenn.; one sister, Christine Sharp of Huntsville; one brother, Edward Clark of Huntsville; and seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association.

Eunice Cranford
ARAB - Eunice Cranford, 93, of 700 N. Main St. died Wednesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Rocky Mount Primitive Baptist Church.
Burial will be in Gilliam Springs Cemetery with Gober Funeral Home of Arab in charge.
Survivors include one son, Delane Cranford of Arab; one granddaughter, Stefani Cranford of Arab; and one great-grandson, Vann W. Smith of Arab.

Grace Dodson
Grace Dodson, 76, of Huntsville died Wednesday at her home. The funeral will be Saturday at noon at Olivet Baptist Church with the Rev. Calvin Adams officiating.
Burial will be in Green wood Cemetery in Chattanooga with Nelms Memorial Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include one daughter, Lillie Nobles of Huntsville; two brothers, Charlie Stephens and John A. Stephens, both of Chattanooga; and three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Marie Eady
DECATUR - Marie Eady, 88, of South Morgan Health Care Center died Sunday at her home. A graveside service was at 11 a.m. at Falkville City Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Legg officiating.
Peck Funeral Home of Hartselle is in charge of burial.

Arzell L. Flint Sr.
Arzell L. Flint Sr., 88, of 2803 Poplar Ave. in Huntsville died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Zion Progress Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. John Baker officiating.
Burial will be in Blutchers Ford Cemetery with Nelms Memorial Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include his wife, Mamie Flint of Huntsville; six sons, Arzell Flint Jr., Clarence Flint, Eugene Scruggs Sr. and Ellis Thompson, all of Huntsville, James Flint of Dover, Del., and Joe Scruggs of Chicago; and 34 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Lester I. Garrison
DECATUR - Lester I. Garrison, 78, died Wednesday at a Decatur hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Ridouts-Brown-Service Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Estes Harden and Harold Thompson officiating.
Burial will be in Basham Cemetery.
Mr. Garrison was a native of Morgan County, a member of Basham Methodist Church and a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle "Tootsie" Garrison of Decatur; two sons, Lanny Garrison and Steve Garrison, both of Decatur; five daughters, Sandra Blackman of Arab, Monta Lou Bracken, Beretta Garrison and Rhonda Garrison, all of Decatur, and Nada Yucura of Scottsboro; and 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

James A. Green well
James A. Green well, 77, of Huntsville died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 9 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with the Rev. Louis Giardino officiating.
Burial will be in Twickenham Memory Gardens with Twickenham Funeral Home South in charge.
Mr. Green well was a member of Holy Spirit Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was formerly of Melrose, Fla., and was preceded in death by one son, James Green well.
Survivors include his wife, Marion C. Green well of Huntsville; two sons, Earl Green well and Tim Phipps; two stepsons, George Riess and Wade Riess; three daughters, Mary Lee Thomas, Rebecca Snow and Rita McFarland; two stepdaughters, Beth Ann Higginbotham and Toni Freeman; four brothers, Thomas Green well, Gene Green well, Walter Green well and Dan Green well; two sisters, Anna Lee Forrester and Virginia Butler; and six grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to the Holy Spirit building fund or a favorite charity.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 9 p.m. with a rosary service from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert L. Gurley
Robert Leslie Gurley, 66, of Huntsville died Friday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Saturday at noon at Flint River Running Water Consolidated Memorial Tabernacle with the Rev. Charlie Humphrey officiating.
Burial will be in Penneys Cemetery with Nelms Memorial Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Gurley of Huntsville; one son, Robert "Cricket" Gurley Jr.; two stepsons, Gill Morris King of New Market and Glen King of Huntsville; one stepdaughter, Juanell Derrick of Huntsville; two brothers, Willie Gurley and Rodger Gurley, both of Huntsville; three sisters, Nannie Gurley, Nadine Farris and Patricia Williams, all of Huntsville; and one grandson and eight step-grandchildren.
His body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

William Jones
DETROIT - William Jones, 78, died Saturday in Detroit. The funeral will be Saturday at noon at Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church in Green briar with the Rev. George Franklin officiating.
Burial will be in Ragland Cemetery with Nelms Memorial Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Jones was formerly of Huntsville.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel Jones of Detroit; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Langford
Mary Langford, 83, of 2841 Greeside Drive in Huntsville died Monday at a local nursing home. The funeral will be Friday at noon at Royal Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Robert Leslie officiating.
Burial will be in Meadowlawn Garden of Peace.
Survivors include several cousins.

James A. Nichols
EVA - James Albert Nichols, 37, of Murphree Road, died Feb. 8 in Morgan County. The funeral was to be today at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle with Father Brent Norris officiating.
Burial was to be in Bethel Cemetery near Eva.
Mr. Nichols attended Grace Episcopal Church in Cullman and was a merchant in Cullman.
Mr. Nichols is survived by his mother, Florence Nichols of Eva.

Mary Rains
ALBERTVILLE - Mary Louise Hodges Rains, 89, of 509 Barnes St. died Monday at her home. The funeral was today at 11 a.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Albertville.
Burial was in Memory Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Rains was a kindergarten teacher for 25 years and a charter member of the Dig and Dream Garden Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathryn Reed of Albertville; one son, Billy H. Rains of Boaz; and four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

James B. Shannon Sr.
ARDMORE, Ala. - James Berry Shannon Sr., 84, of 27919 Shannon Road died Wednesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Sweet Springs Baptist Church with Bros. Sammy Brister, Chester Jones and Joel Logan officiating.
Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery with Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Shannon was a member of Wooley Springs Methodist Church and attended Sweet Springs Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Shannon.
Survivors include four sons, Gene Shannon, James Shannon, Eddie Shannon and Billy Shannon, all of Ardmore, Ala.; three daughters, Helen Mathis, Mae Sanders and Judy McGuire, all of Ardmore, Ala.; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Paul E. Shavers
STOCKTON, Calif. - Paul Edward Shavers, 65, died Sunday. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home in Scottsboro, Ala., with Michael Gilbert officiating.
Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Scottsboro.
Mr. Shavers was a former resident of Scottsboro and had lived in Stockton for the past 45 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Star Shavers Peterson of Stockton; two sons, Kenneth Shavers and Randy Kitchens, both of Scottsboro; his stepmother, Nita Shavers of Scottsboro; one sister, Maggie Gilbert of Bryant, Ala.; two brothers, J.C. Shavers of Scottsboro and John Shavers of Trenton, Ga.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Visitation was to be today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mamie A. Stack
Mamie Ann Stack, 65, of Huntsville died Tuesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home. Entombment will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Ms. Stack was a physical therapist who had retired from Crestwood Hospital.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Lamb of Madison and Leslie Louden of Parks City, Tenn.; two sons, Steven Stack of Jackson, Miss., and David Stack of Huntsville; and five grandchildren. Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Harold I. Towry
Harold Ivan Towry, 79, of Huntsville died Wednesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Locust Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Mac McCutcheon officiating.
Spry Funeral Home is in charge of burial.
Mr. Towry was a native of Madison County and worked at Woody Anderson Ford. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include one daughter, Janice Jones of Elkmont; one brother, Earl Towry of Hazel Green ; and one sister, Jewell Roberts of Huntsville.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

David S. Wrightington
David S. Wrightington, 54, of Huntsville died Sunday at his home. The memorial service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Unitarian Universalist Church with the Rev. Doak Mansfield officiating.
Spry Funeral Home is in charge of burial arrangements.
Mr. Wrightington was a native of Virginia and had lived in Huntsville since 1971. He worked at Jolly Green Thumb.
Survivors include two sons, Seth Wrightington of La Jolla, Calif., and Clem Wrightington of Boston, Mass.; and two brothers, Steve Wrightington of New York and John Wrightington of Texas. Memorial donations may be made to Theatre Huntsville, P.O. Box 654, Huntsville, 35804.
