Robert W. Baird
MADISON - Robert Warren Baird Jr., 44, died Sunday at a local hospital. The funeral was today at 11 a.m. at Madison Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Schrimsher and Bruce Shoemake officiating.
Burial was in Madison City Cemetery with Madison Chapel Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Baird was preceded in death by his father, Robert W. Baird Sr., and a brother, Mike Baird.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby Baird and Grant Baird, both of Madison; two daughters, Monica Baird and Christy Baird, both of Madison; his mother, Norene Lowry Baird of Madison; a brother, Bill Baird of Harvest; and a sister, Debbie Preston of Harvest.

Verma M. Calvert
ATHENS - Verma Matthews Calvert, 84, of 1600 West Hobbs St. died Monday at a Limestone County hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home.
Burial was to be in Athens City Cemetery.
Mrs. Calvert was a member of Elkton Road Baptist Church and was preceded in death by one son, Stanley Carl Schultz.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Boyd of Athens; two sisters, Bobbie Jean Mayfield of Athens and Dorothy Spence of Citrus Heights, Calif.; and two grandsons, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Johnny W. Cochran
ALBERTVILLE - Johnny Wayne Cochran II, 31, of 105 Logan St., died Sunday. The funeral was to be today at 3:30 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Albertville.
Burial was to be in Marshall Memorial Garden.
Survivors include one daughter, Dawn Cochran; his parents, John and Paul Cochran and Sherry Hammett, all of Albertville; three sisters, Margaret Cochran, Melanie Cochran and Heather Hammett, all of Albertville; three brothers, Brian Cochran, Jamie Hammett and Heath Cochran, both of Albertville; and his grandparents, Tommy and Lorene Cochran of Albertville.

Barnie L. Daniel
Barnie L. Daniel Jr., 74, of Huntsville died Monday at a local hospital. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements and will be in charge of burial.
Mr. Daniel, a retired U.S. Air Force master sergeant, was a decorated World War II veteran. A 1946 graduate of Huntsville High School, he had retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
Survivors include two sons, Gordon L. Daniel of Foster City, Calif., and Alan G. Daniel of Oakland, Calif.; two brothers, Albert C. Daniel of Pittston, Pa., and Mason B. Daniel of Columbus, Miss.; a sister, Peggy Mueller of Cheektowaga, N.Y.; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ella Mae Dukeminier
MOUNT HOPE - Ella Mae Dukeminier, 95, died Sunday in Cedar Bluff. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Mount Hope Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by two children, John Dukeminier and Cybil Ray Bell.
Survivors include a daughter, Ramona Clark of Huntsville; two sons, Henry Dukeminier of Union Grove and Charles Dukeminier of New Market; a sister, Oma Terry of Gadsden; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Preston E. Estes
BOAZ - Preston Eldridge Estes, 71, of 140 Mount Vernon Homes died Sunday at a Gadsden hospital. The funeral was today at 11 a.m. at Albertville Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial was in Forrest Home Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn C. Estes; two daughters, Nell Lewis and Connie Harlow, both of Mississippi; one son, Kenneth Estes of Boaz; four brothers, Gary D. Estes of Boaz, Tommy Estes of Indiana, Rodas Estes of California and James Estes of Mississippi; and 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

C.R. Fricks
FALKVILLE - C.R. Fricks, 66, of 15 Robinson Creek Road died Saturday at his home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle with the Rev. Paul Tucker officiating.
Burial will be in Herring Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Opal Louise Fricks; five sons, Ronnie Lindley of West Palm Beach, Fla., Tammy Dettman of Galt, Calif. and Robert Fricks, Doyle Fricks and Johnny Lindley, all of Falkville; one sister, Ann Barnes of Huntsville; three brothers, Joe Fricks of Cullman, Oscar Fricks of Cedartown, Ga. and Carl Horton Jr. of Okeechobee, Fla.; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Harold N. Gully
CAPSHAW - Harold Nathan Gully, 72, of 15111 Sanderson Road died Monday at his home. Limestone Chapel Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.

Angela Jo Holcomb
NEW HOPE - Angela Jo Holcomb, 37, of 119 Pine St. died Sunday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at New Hope Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dewayne Martin officiating.
Burial will be in Byrd Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, James Edward Holcomb Sr. of New Hope; her father, J.C. Hutchens of New Hope; her mother, Virginia Hutchens of New Hope; a son, James Edward Holcomb Jr.; a stepdaughter, Connie Mitchell Bolton of New Hope; a stepson, David Wayne Holcomb of Huntsville; a sister, Annette Hubbard of Grant; two brothers, Andrew Hutchens of Laceys Spring and Anthony Hutchens of New Hope; a grandmother, Gurtha Hutchens of New Hope; and two step-grandchildren.
Visitation is today from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

William E. McRae
William E. McRae, 70, of Huntsville died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Laughlin Service Chapel.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery with Laughlin Service Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. McRae, a native of Fairhope, was retired from Redstone Arsenal.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn R. Stoner, of Huntsville; three sons, W. Chris McRae of Madison and Stephen Mitch McRae and Kevin L. McRae, both of Mobile; two daughters, LuAnn Marlin and Georgia Elizabeth Donivan, both of Mobile; and 12 grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Social Workers Discretionary Fund in care of FMC Dialysis Center, 2225 Pansy St., Huntsville 35801.

Julia Morgan
Julia Estelle Stone Morgan, 97, of Huntsville died Monday at her home. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Mrs. Morgan had been a school teacher and had worked with her husband at the Morgan Meat Packing Co. in Tuscaloosa. She was a member of Holmes Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Rebecca Herrin of Huntsville and Annie Lee Broyles of Florence; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Wilford C. Morgan
HORTON - Wilford C. Morgan, 72, of 776 Smith Drive died Sunday at a Birmingham hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Albertville.
Burial was to be in Rock Springs Cemetery.
Survivors include six daughters, Barbara Sims of Douglas and Ann Christian, Joan Green, Dorothy Lee, Judy Hastings and Sandra Cox, all of Albertville; five sons, Michael Morgan and Donnie Morgan, both of Horton, Danny Morgan of Douglas and Phillip Morgan and David Morgan, both of Albertville; one brother, Bill Morgan of Boaz; and 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Alfred V. Nygren
ATHENS - Alfred Victor Nygren Sr., 96, died Sunday. A graveside service will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery.
Ridouts Valley Chapel in Homewood will be in charge of burial.
Mr. Nygren was a member of Cathedral Church of the Advent and was retired from Continental Gin and Herman Williams Co. He was a member of Birmingham Lodge No. 757 F&AM, York Rites, and Zamora Temple.
Survivors include a son, Alfred Victor Nygren Jr. of Fultondale; three daughters, Laura N. Holton of Cantonment, Fla., Elane N. Connell of Hoover and Susan N. Collier of Hueytown; a brother, Robert S. Nygren of Birmingham; a sister, Annie Laura Nygren of Birmingham; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

William L. Pogue
FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. - William Leslie Pogue, 61, of 18 Tucker Trailer Court died Sunday at his home. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with Dr. R.C. Craft and Brother Dewey Craft officiating.
Burial will be in Stateline Cemetery.
Mr. Pogue, a native of Lincoln County, worked at Martin Store Inc. in Huntsville and was a member of First United Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Andrews Pogue of Fayetteville; three sons, William Jeffery Pogue of Selden, N.Y., Randal Ray Pogue of Arkansas and William Ray Pogue of Columbia, S.C.; two stepsons, Paul King of Pulaski and Edwin King of Ardmore; two brothers, Lloyd Pogue of Elkmont and Floyd Pogue of Ardmore; a sister, Annie Reyer of Athens; a half-brother, G.C. Lindsey of Feyetteville; and 10 grandchildren.

Harry Roberts
ATHENS - Harry "Hootie" Roberts, 41, of 18454 Alabama 251 died today at an Athens hospital. Limestone Chapel Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.

Earl J. Sharpley
MOULTON - Earl J. Sharpley, 53, died Monday at his home. Sharpley Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.

Phillip M. Smith
ATHENS - Phillip Muton Smith, 61, of 508 North Clinton St. died Saturday at his home. The graveside service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Athens City Cemetery with Buck Chumbley officiating and McConnell Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Smith was a retired electrician.
Survivors include one son, Shane Smith of Staunton, Va.; a stepmother, Billie Smith of Athens; three half sisters, Clara Jean Davis, Juanita Wray Grisham and Jane Boyd, all of Athens; and one half-brother, Joe Carson Smith of Athens.

Robert Fulton Smith
FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. - Robert Fulton Smith, 69, of 1000 Robin St. died Sunday at a Tennessee veterans hospital. The graveside service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Melson Cemetery with Paul Beddingfield and Robert Honey officiating, and Higgins Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Smith, a native of Lincoln County, had worked for Chicago Wirecraft and was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include four sisters, Lucille Hopkin of Huntsville and Mary J. Honey, Joyce Beddingfield and Thelma Swing, all of Fayetteville; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was to be today at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the hospice unit at Veterans Hospital, building 5, Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Walter E. Stephens
Walter Edward Stephens of Huntsville died Sunday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Twickenham funeral Home East with Brother Roland Lee officiating.
Burial will be in Green Valley Cemetery in Big Cove.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Stephens of Huntsville; a son, Roy Stephens of Huntsville; a stepson, Larry Lee of Madison; two daughters, Judy Stanley of Huntsville and Phyllis Howell of Gurley; a brother, Henry Stephens of Grant; two sisters, Grace Brooks of Bladenboro, N.C., and Betty Lanford of Owens Cross Roads; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Castel R. Wilkerson
LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Castel R. Wilkerson, 75, died Monday in Chattanooga. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar, Ala., with the Rev. Don Moreland officiating.
Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Chattanooga.
Mr. Wilkerson was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church, the American Legion and the Woodmen of the World. He was a decorated World War II veteran.
Mr. Wilkerson was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Wilkerson, and one daughter, Linda Faye Terry.
Survivors include five daughters, Helen Gail Batten and Gloria Dean Wilson, both of West Palm Beach, Fla., Peggy Jean Rhodes of Chattanooga, Cathy Wilkerson Templin of Rossville, Ga., and Kimberly Annette Templin of Graysville, Tenn.; one son, Jerry Wayne Wilkerson of Hixson, Tenn.; and 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation was to be today until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
