Juanita S. Armstrong
Juanita Smith Armstrong, 54, of Huntsville died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Saturday at noon at Madkins Chapel C.P. Church with the Rev. Endia Scruggs officiating.
Burial will be in Northside Cemetery with Nelms Memorial Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include her husband, David C. Armstrong of Huntsville; one daughter, Mattie Fearn of Huntsville; one sister, Thelma Clinton of Huntsville; two brothers, Oscar Smith and Donald Smith, both of Cleveland, Ohio; two foster daughters, Diane Moore and Ann Jones, both of Huntsville; one stepson, Rick Jones of Huntsville; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Her body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Douglas Brown
TONEY - Staff Sgt. (ret.) Douglas Brown, 68, died Wednesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Brown served with the U.S. Army in Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Elise Brown of Toney; his parents, Anthony and Phoebe Brown of Coatesville, Ind.; one son, James Brown of Huntsville; six sisters, Mildred Rogers of Clinton, Ark., Jeannette Caudill and Helen Lee, both of Indianapolis, Cora Halcomb of Mooresville, Tenn., Joan Brown Roberts of Green field, Ind., and Charlene Drakos of Valaparaiso, Ind.; and five brothers, Paul Brown and Roen Brown, both of Mooresville, Ind., Rex Brown of Reelsville, Ind., Harold Brown of Indianapolis and Donald Wayne Brown of Coatesville, Ind.
Visitation will be today from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Verna C. Caldwell
FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. - Verna Collins Caldwell, 92, of 309 North Bellview St. died Thursday at a Lincoln County Hospital. The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Hughes officiating.
Burial will be in Medium Cemetery.
Mrs. Caldwell, a native of Lincoln County, was retired from Kuhns Department Store, sat with elderly ladies in their homes and was a member of Fayetteville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Malvern Caldwell, and a son, Lester Caldwell.
Survivors include four daughters, Lois ONeal, Louise Stevenson and Lorene Pirtle, all of Fayetteville, and Lenis Bradford of Franklin; one daughter-in-law, Odalean Caldwell of Tullahoma; one sister, Lillie Vance Riner of Fayetteville; and 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was to be today after 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lamar P. Caudel
Lamar Penny Caudel, 69, of 2219 Beasley Ave. died Monday at his home. the funeral will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at St. Andrews P.B. Church with the Rev. George Franklin officiating.
Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens with Royal Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Caudel was a member of the deacon board, usher board, male chorus and No. 2 choir at St. Andrews P.B. Church.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Jean Caudel of Huntsville; six daughters, Bonnie Langford, Ella Mae Caudle, Marion Love, Janice Caudle, Elaine Caudle and Margaret Russell, all of Huntsville; six sons, Horace Caudle, Edward Caudle, Freddie Caudle, Jessie Caudle, Jackie Caudle and Anthony Caudle, all of Huntsville; one sister, Lucille Horton of Madison; three brothers, Edward Caudle of Madison, Luther Coleman of Chattanooga and Tommy Caudle of Chicago; and 33 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
His body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

James W. Dennis
MARIETTA, Ga. - James Wesley Dennis, 86, died Wednesday at his home. A graveside service was to be held today at 2 p.m. at Green wood Cemetery in Montgomery with Dr. Karl Stegall officiating.
Green wood and Serenity Funeral Home in Montgomery is in charge of burial.
Mr. Dennis was retired from Atlantic Steel Co. of Atlanta where he was vice president of the Dixie Steel Building Division. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the China, Burma and India theaters. he was a Mason and a Shriner and a member of First United Methodist Church of Montgomery.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Brown Dennis of Marietta; two daughters, Patty D. Webb of Huntsville and Mary D. Pruett of Marietta; one sister, Mary Spencer of Troy; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimers Disease research or to the Greater Georgia Chapter of Autism of America.
Visitation was to be today at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mildred E. Driver
HAZEL GREEN - Mildred Elizabeth Driver, 72, of Monroe Nunley Road died Thursday at her home. The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Gallant Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Berry officiating.
Burial will be in Charity Cemetery.
Mrs. Driver, a native of Madison County, was a housewife and a member of Carters Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Terry Driver of Hazel Green and Tommy Driver of Tuscumbia; three sisters, Geneva Warren and Billie Whaley, both of Caneyville, Ky., and Dot Livingston of New Buffalo, Mich.; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Collin N. Fairbanks
PISGAH - Collin Nathaniel Fairbanks, an infant, of Route 3 died Thursday at a Dekalb County hospital. A graveside service was to be today at 5 p.m. at Green haven Memorial Gardens with W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel in charge.
He is survived by his parents, Dwight and Tina Fairbanks of Pisgah.

Colean H. Hammonds
TONEY - Colean H. Hammonds, 81, died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at St. Bartley Center with the Rev. John Humphrey officiating.
Burial will be in Indian Creek Cemetery with Nelms Memorial Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include one daughter, Joan Jacobs of Baltimore, Md., and six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Her body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Irene Hammons
FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. - Irene Hammons, 74, of 1 Ables Lane died Wednesday at a local hospital. The funeral was to be today at 3 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with Brothers Thurman Young and Gary Williams officiating.
Burial will be Saturday at 2 p.m. EDT at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Knoxville.
Mrs. Hammons, a native of Knox County, Tenn., was a homemaker and a member of Lincoln Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Troy Hammons of Fayetteville; two sons, John Edward Fritts of Atlanta and Charles Eugene Fritts of Montgomery; two stepdaughters, Linda Cecil Walker of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Donna Jane Tollet of Los Angeles; four sisters, Naomi Hill, Mary Sims and Sue Osborn, all of Knoxville, and Ellen Hines of Chattanooga; and four grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.

Leslie Hatton
UNION GROVE - Leslie Hatton, 78, died Wednesday at his home. The funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Gober Funeral Home in Arab.
Burial will be in Brookwood Cemetery.
Survivors include four daughters, Wanda Johnson of Harvest, Barbara Daw and Kay Owens, both of Union Grove, and Sandra Hendrix of Tennessee; two sisters, Claudia Speck of Russellville and Frances Flippo of Wetumpka; two brothers, Coolidge Hatton and Luther Hatton, both of Russellville; and 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Leonard F. Hawk
Leonard Ford Hawk, 47, of 3204 Harvey St. in Huntsville died Sunday at his home. The funeral will be today at noon at Hopewell M.B. Church with the Rev. Leroy Cole officiating.
Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens with Royal Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include his wife, Annette M. Hawk; one daughter, Lynette Renee Crutcher of Huntsville; two sons, Bryan Cordell Hawk and Travis Lamont Hawk, both of Huntsville; his parents, Hazel F. Hawk and Arthur "Jake" Hawk, both of Huntsville; his grandfather, Henry Clay Wherry of Huntsville; three sisters, Joann Hawk and Bernice Hawk, both of Huntsville, and Candies Moye of Montgomery; three brothers, Ralph Hawk of New Market and Charles Hawk and Marvin Hawk, both of Huntsville; and three grandchildren.
His body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Sallie Jones
BOAZ - Sallie Jones, 73, died Wednesday in an Attalla nursing home. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Albertville Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial was to be in Union Cemetery in Woodville.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Hamick of Ider and Joyce Thomas of Huntsville; three sons, Wayne Thomas and Bill Thomas, both of Guntersville, and Chris Jones of Boaz; one stepson, Fred Jones of Grassy; one sister, Cathryn Caldwell of Georgia; one brother, Tim Walraben of Georgia; and 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Claudia Elizabeth Lee
ATHENS - Mrs. Claudia Elizabeth Lee, 84, died Wednesday at a local nursing home. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Spry funeral home with Jack Freeman officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Lee was a homemaker and a member of West Highland Baptist Church.
Survivors include five daughters, Eulajo Coonrod of Amarillo, Texas, Rita Ann Wagner of Aurora, Colo., Mary Nelson of Decatur, Deborah Jones of Fort Worth, Texas and Ellen Rodriguez of Huntsville; and 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to West Highland Baptist Church Building Fund.

Cora Mae McCutchen
Cora Mae McCutchen, 53, of 3604 Elizabeth St. in Huntsville died Monday at her home. The funeral was to be today at noon at Apostolic True Temple Church of God with Elder Jerry Townsend officiating.
Royal Funeral Home will be in charge of burial.
Survivors include three sisters, Jerline Holden of Huntsville, Paulette Scales and Janice Drake, both of Monte Clair, Calif.; and one brother, Andy McCutchen Jr. of Monte Clair, Calif.

Mary E. Rodman
Mary E. Rodman, 102, of 4411 McAllister Ave. died Thursday at her home. Madison Chapel Funeral Home will announce funeral arangements.

Earl J. Sharpley
MOULTON - Earl Jimmy Sharpley, 53, died Monday at his home. The funeral will be Saturday at noon at Ebenezer Methodist Church in Danville with the Rev. Paul Orr officiating.
Burial will be in Campground Cemetery with Sharpley Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Sharpley was a truck driver for C&L Wood Products for 14 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Necia Sharpley of Moulton and Melinda Barbee of Decatur; six brothers, John Sharpley and Billy Sharpley, both of Detroit, Norman Sharpley of Moulton, Frances Edward Sharpley of Russellville, Larry Sharpley of Decatur and Paul Sharpley of Somerville; six sisters, Calden Moye of Roanoake, Va., Doris Orr, Sandra McDaniel and Mary Orr, all of Hartselle and Madalyn Taylor and Carol Cain, both of Decatur; and six grandchildren.
His body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Douglas J. Smith
Spec. 4 Douglas James Smith, 23, of Huntsville died Tuesday at a local hospital. The funeral was to be today at 1 p.m. at Bicentennial Chapel at Redstone Arsenal with Chaplin Paul Vicalvi and the Rev. Billy Malone officiating.
Burial will be in Bethelham Baptist Cemetery in Sardis with Spry Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Smith was a native of Peoria, Ill., and was active in the military.
Survivors include his wife, Carmen M. Smith; one son, Kurt Smith of Huntsville; one stepson, William Spratling of Fort Hood, Texas; one stepdaughter, Valerye Guppy of Fort Drum, N.Y.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James B. Smith of Albertville; two brothers, Max Smith of Peoria, Ill. and Bill Smith of Normal, Ill.; five sisters, Shelia Hawes and Terri Smith, both of Peoria, Ill., Denise Bazhenow of Bartonville, Ill., Linda Zimmerman of Pekin, Ill., and Yancy Reynolds of Creve Coeur, Ill.; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James A. Gibbs of Kickapooh, Ill.
His body will be at the chapel one hour before the funeral.

Fred Taylor
DAWSON - Fred Taylor, 78, died Thursday at his home. The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Fairview Methodist Church with the Revs. Billy Skelton, Bill Hall and Alton Vaughn officiating.
Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel of Rainsville in charge.
Mr. Taylor was a native of Dekalb County and a member of Fairview Methodist Church. He was retired from the 3M Company and the Dekalb County Sheriffs Department.
Survivors include his wife, Cordie Fuller Hall Taylor of Dawson; two sons, Kenneth Taylor of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Gerald Taylor of Fort Payne; two stepsons, Bill Hall of Hammondville and Jerry Hall of Fyffe; and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Fred A. Vantrease
FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. - Fred A. Vantrease, 99, of 51 Plada Heights died Wednesday at a Lincoln County nursing home. The funeral was to be today at 1 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with the Revs. Noland Brunson and Roger Holley officiating.
Burial will be in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Vantrease, a native of Elmwood, Tenn., was an accountant, a World War I veteran and a member of Highland United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Edwards Vantrease of Fayetteville; a son, Robert M. Vantrease of Nashville; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to Highland United Methodist Church, 2917 Huntsville Highway, Fayetteville, Tenn., 37334, or to a favorite charity.
