Gladys Buchanan
HARTSELLE - Gladys Plemons Hale Buchanan, 90, of Hartselle, died Friday at Falkville Health Care Center. The funeral was to be today at 10 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Smallwood officiating.
Burial was in New Center Cemetery.
Mrs. Buchanan was a member of New Center Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, L.A. ''Bill Hale, and one daughter, Maxine Hale Hodges.
Survivors include two sons, Chester Hale of Hartselle and Don Hale of Athens; one sister, Opal Howard of Hartselle; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Charles W. Carr
HARVEST - Charles William Carr, 73, of Bowling Lane died Friday at a Huntsville hospital. The funeral was Sunday at Spry Funeral Home with Woodrow Harbin officiating.
Burial was in Sandlin Cemetery.
Mr. Carr was a native of Limestone County and former owner and operator of Triangle Radiator Shop in Huntsville.
Survivors include two sons, Bo Carr of Arab and Wayne Carr of Moulton; two daughters, Donna Harbin of Hazel Green and Vickie Watkins of Elkton; one sister, Irene Haney of Hartselle; and three grandchildren.

Kay D. Carroll
BATESVILLE, Miss. - Kay Darby Carroll, 50, died Saturday at her home. The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Courtland, Miss., with Dr. Lee Hudson officiating.
Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery with Wells Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Bates was a former resident and special education school teacher in Madison County, Ala.
Survivors include one daughter, Morgan Paige Carroll of Batesville; one sister, Jo Darby Blair of Batesville; and two brothers Jerry Darby of Batesville and Neil Darby of Natchez.

William G. Chunn
VALHERMOSO SPRINGS - William Gerald ''Jerry Chunn, 65, of 285 Talucah Road died Saturday at a Huntsville hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church with the Rev. Clint Coffey officiating.
Burial was in Valhermoso Springs Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home of Hartselle in charge.
Mr. Chunn was a member of First Christian Church and was a retired Alabama state trooper.
Survivors include his wife, Ima Rhea Chunn; his stepmother, Mildred Chunn of Valhermoso Springs; three stepsons, Daryl Chunn of Laceys Spring, Gaylon Chunn of Valhermoso Springs and Jeffrey Chunn of Hartselle; one stepdaughter, Denise Chunn Lenox of Valhermoso Springs; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Thelma Guess
STEVENSON - Thelma Guess, 86, died Sunday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Rudder Funeral Home with the Rev. Nayburn Guess officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Bridgeport.
Mrs. Guess was a member of the Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Guess.
Survivors include five sons, Robert L. Guess, Jerry D. Guess, Albert C. Guess and Billy Guess, all of Stevenson, and Charles E. Guess of Jasper, Tenn.; one sister, Sally Dura of Bridgeport; 14 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Ira E. Haskins
MADISON - Ira E. Haskins, 71, died Thursday at a local hospital. The memorial service will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Deacon Lee Roy Hoekenschnieder officiating.
Laughlin Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa M. Haskins; four sons, Edward J. Haskins and James C. Haskins, both of Atlanta, William R. Haskins and Michael A. Haskins, both of Rochester, N.Y.; two daughters, Catherine A. James of Rochester and Susan M. Boynton of Madison; and 10 grandchildren.
Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

William R. Hawk
BRIDGEPORT - William Rogers ''Bill Hawk, 73, died Saturday at a nursing home in South Pittsburg, Tenn. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson with the Revs. Edward Lewis Powell, Howard Horn and Virgil Thomas officiating.
Burial was to be in Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball, Tenn.
Mr. Hawk was a driver for Greyhound Bus Lines for 28 years and a World War II Navy veteran. He was also a Church of Christ minister for 49 years.
Survivors include his wife, Coleen Hawk; one daughter, Emma Laura Lacy of Bryant, Ala.; one brother, Jim Hawk of South Pittsburg; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Lillian C. Kane
Lillian Clarice Kane, 70, of Huntsville died Friday at her home. The graveside service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery with Laughlin Service Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Kane was preceded in death by one son, Larry Simmons.
Survivors include her husband, Hubert Frances Kane; three daughters, Carolyn Lester, Phyllis Robinson and Glenda Brummer, all of Huntsville; four sons, Michael Simmons, Paul Kane and Jody Kane, all of Virginia, and Ricky Simmons of Nauvoo, Ala.; one sister, Barbara Boyd of Huntsville; and 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lynn R. Layton
Lynn Reed Layton, 77, of Huntsville died Saturday at his home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Dan Summerlin officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Layton was a native of Madison, Ind., and had lived in Huntsville since 1958. He was a Mason and a member of University Baptist Church, retired from the Armys Hawk Missile Program as Chief of Procurement and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Layton of Huntsville; one son, Stewart Layton of Lithia Springs, Ga.; two daughters, Ellen Belcher of Maysville and Susan Filip of Huntsville; one brother, Albert Layton of Madison, Ind.; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert W. Lewis
Robert Wesley Lewis, 68, of Huntsville died Sunday at a local hospital. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will annonuce funeral arrangements.
Mr. Lewis was a veteran of the Korean War, a longtime resident of Huntsville, retired from Smith Advanced Technologies and a member of the VFW.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia L. Lewis; two sons, Steve W. Lewis of Huntsville and Jeff K. Lewis of San Diego; one sister, Pat Brand of Key West, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross.

Mossie R. McCall
Mossie Rice McCall, 81, of 2309 Powers Drive died Friday at her home. The funeral will be Tuesday at noon at First Seventh-day Adventist Church with Elder Benjamin Jones officiating.
Burial will be in Northside Cemetery with Royal Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. McCall was the Colonial Hills Elementary School and the Huntsville City Schools "Teacher of the Year" in 1978. She was added to the Alabama Hall of Fame in 1978 and was in the Teacher Hall of Fame at Jacksonville State University in 1978 and 1979. She was a member of the First Seventh-day Adventist Church for more than 50 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Karla McCall Swan of Missouri City, Texas; one son, Stanley E. McCall of Harvest; three brothers, Joe D. Rice of Huntsville and George Rice and Flute "Billy" Rice, both of Toledo, Ohio; two sisters, Gertrude Rice of Toledo and Dr. Nell Rice Anthony of Huntsville; and five grandchildren.
Her body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

William L. Moon
KILLEN - William Larry Moon, 59, died Saturday. The funeral will be Tuesday at Elkins Funeral Home chapel in Center Star.
Burial will be in Killen Cemetery.
Mr. Moon was a native of Madison County and worked for Martin Industries where he retired as chief engineer.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Moon; two daughters, Michelle Moon Speck of New Market and Lisa Smith McDougal of Lillen; two sons, Phillip Moon of Frankewing, Tenn., and Carlos Smith of Savannah, Ga.; four sisters, Mary Moon, Fay Malone, Sylvia Campbell and Sue Wilbanks; seven brothers, Dexter Moon, Terry Moon, Kyle Moon, Cleo Moon, Leeo Moon, Theo Moon and Willie Bob Moon; and five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Donations may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation.

Juanita W. Nelson
Juanita W. Nelson, 78, of Huntsville died Saturday at Springville, Ala. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with Pastor George Jones and Brother Ed Culpeper officiating.
Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens with Spry Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Nelson was a native of Chattanooga and a longtime of resident of Huntsville. She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon A. Nelson; one son, Bruce Nelson of Huntsville; two daughters, Pamela Fordham of St. Clair Springs and Deborah Swain of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one brother, James R. Walls of Saraland; and five grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation or to Hospice Family Care.

Curtis R. Parks
FAYETTEVILLE, Tenn. - Curtis Randall Parks, 40, of Elmwood Terrace died Friday at a Nashville hospital. The funeral was to be today at 11 a.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with the Revs. Bobby Bates and Wayne Hollingsworth officiating.
Burial will be in Prosperity Cemetery.
Survivors include five sisters, Peggy Chick and Rachel Taylor, both of Fayetteville, Yvonne Shelton of Douglasville, Ga., Janice Cothren of Holly Pond and Sammie Pigg of Huntsville; four brothers, Donnie Parks and Gary Parks, both of Fayetteville, Harrel Parks of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Dennis Parks of Douglasville, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

John R. Parr
ANTIOCH, Tenn. - John Russell Parr, 64, died Saturday at a Huntsville, Ala., hospital. The graveside service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Milan, Tenn.
Survivors include one son, John Russell ''Rusty Parr Jr.; one sister, Martha Parr Littleton of Huntsville; and one granddaughter, Miranda Parr.

Leverta O. Patterson
GADSDEN - Leverta ''Lou Ophelia Patterson, 73, died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Albertville Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Bobby Bright and Eddie Carroll officiating.
Burial will be in New Harmony Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by two sons, James Randall Martin and Ernie Morris Martin.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Mathis of Gadsden and Ray Martin of Hanceville; one brother, Britton Justice of Albertville; five sisters, Hampter Hendrix and Ola Langston, both of Crossville, Irene Robinson of Florence, Ky., Jessie Mae Ray of Norwood, Ga., and Peggy Willoughby of Albertville; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Hattie B. Tishaw
PISGAH - Hattie Beatrice Haney Tishaw, 71, died Sunday. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Heflin.
Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Kerby Funeral Home in Henagar in charge.
Mrs. Tishaw was a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Heflin.
She was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Wayne Tishaw.
Survivors include her husband, Loyd Erskine Tishaw; two daughters, Joyce Ann Walker of Fort Payne and Mary Elizabeth Orr of Chickamauga, Ga.; four sons, Jimmy Ray Tishaw of Henagar, Jackie Lee Tishaw of Fort Payne, Roger Dale Tishaw of Mentone and Glenn Edward Tishaw of Pisgah; two sisters, Dorothy Hammond of Florida and Myrtle Nixon of Lagrange, Ga.; one brother, Herbert Haney of Bowden, Ga.; and 14 grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
