Mary A. Achatz
Mary Agnes Achatz, 72, of Huntsville died Thursday at a local hospital.
Valhalla Funeral Home will announce arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Charles A. Achatz; four daughters, Barbara Zuber, Linda Brasher, Robbie Hayes and Suzie Keener, all of Huntsville; one son, James Achatz of Huntsville; one brother, James Venato of Texas; and 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association.

Iva R. Childress
TYLER, Texas - Iva Ruth Childress, 92, died Tuesday. The funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Albertville.
Burial will be in Mount High Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Morrow of Tyler, Texas; three sons, Bergquist Childress of Huntsville, Olaf Childress of Silverhill and Phillip Childress of North Carolina; and 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

David W. Cooper
David Wayne Cooper, 62, of Huntsville died Thursday at his home. The funeral will be today at 11:30 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Bill Cantrell officiating.
Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
Mr. Cooper was a native of Giles County, Tenn., but spent most his life in Madison County. He retired from Ryco Engineering.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie Lou Cooper of Huntsville; one son, Shane Cooper of Athens; two stepdaughters, Shirley Wright of Madison and Linda Schell of Huntsville; one stepson, David Proffitt of Madison; two brothers, Pete Cooper and Hugh Cooper, both of Tennessee; and one grandson and five step-grandchildren.

Richard E. Dickson
Richard Edgar "Dick" Dickson, 64, of Huntsville died Tuesday at a local hospital.
Laughlin Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Dickson earned a degree in physics from the University of Alabama. He moved to Huntsville in 1957 to work at Redstone Arsenal and later served in the Army in Korea. He retired in 1988 but served in the Army National Guard and Reserves as a captain. He was a YMCA scuba instructor emeritus.
Survivors include his mother, Adaline Agnes Dickson of Huntsville; one son, Conan Alastair Dickson of Huntsville; and one brother, Samuel Dickson Jr. of North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia Society.

Seldon J. Dobbins
MONTGOMERY - Seldon Jackson Dobbins, 88, of 30130 Marie Cook Drive died Wednesday in a local hospital. The funeral will be today at 10 a.m. at Carr Funeral Home in Boaz.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Chambers of Montgomery; and one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Joseph R. Evans
Joseph Richard Evans, 65, of Huntsville died Thursday at his home. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home with ministers George Lee, Troy Craig and Lois Culver officiating.
Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
Mr. Evans was a native of Morgan County and lived in Madison County since 1956. He was a Korean War veteran and retired from SCI.
Survivors include his wife, Verna M. Evans of Huntsville; one daughter, Karen Evans of Huntsville; three sons, Stanley Evans, Bryant Evans and Gary Evans, all of Huntsville; one brother, Ray Evans of Laceys Spring; five sister, Ruth Evans of Fayetteville, Ga., Margaret Wiley of Huntsville, Ruby Geddes of Leesburg, Fla., Elizabeth Wiley of New Haven, Conn., and Martha Lee Dawley of Pensacola, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Steven R. Gammon
ATHENS - Steven Ross Gammon, 42, of 24787 Wilee Lane died Wednesday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Limestone Memory Gardens.
Survivors include his wife, Tracie Gammon of Athens; two stepsons, Anthony McDavid and Aaron McDavid, both of Gonzales, La.; his father, Shirley T. Gammon of Indiana; his mother and stepfather, Erma Josephine and Leonard Dziurgot of Detroit; two sisters, Chirleen Wilson of New Boston, Mich., and Vickie Brooks of Lincoln Park, Mich.; one brother, Olen Gammon of Michigan; and his grandmother, Bessie Stice of Bowling Green, Ky.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Wynona Griffin
BOAZ - Wynona Griffin, 78, of 2340 Leeth Gap Cut-off Road died Thursday at her home. The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Albertville Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include her husband, J.T. Griffin; three daughters, Betty Hollaynd of Arab, Gail Sutphin of Georgia and Marilyn McAnnally of Tennessee; four sisters, Idell Naler and Lorene McCormick, both of Boaz, Fledie Funderberg of Mississippi and Mazene Camp of Crossville; four brothers, Garvin Slaton and Guy Slaton, both of Boaz, Harvey Slaton of Birmingham and James Slaton of Sardis; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Patricia Hancock
SCOTTSBORO - Patricia "Pat" Boozer Hancock, 54, died Thursday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Cooper officiating.
Burial will be in Pinehaven Memorial Gardens in Hollywood with Scottsboro Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include her husband, Willard Hancock; one daughter, Carol Anne Hancock Cisco of Scottsboro; one son, Willard L. Hancock of Scottsboro; her mother, Evelyn Stephens Boozer of Sylvania; four sisters, Gatha Thomas of Scottsboro and Jennie Venable, Eloise Pack and Tammy Boozer, all of Sylvania; one brother, Steve Boozer of Sylvania; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

W.T. Hughey Jr.
W.T. Hughey Jr., 57, of Huntsville died Thursday at a local hospital. The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Charity Cemetery.
Mr. Hughey was a native of Madison County and worked for Sherman Industries.
Survivors include one daughter, Michele Bailey of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; and one sister, Jean H. Robison of Madison.

Brenda E. Kirk
Brenda E. Kirk, 52, of Huntsville died Thursday at a local hospital. The funeral will be today at 1:30 p.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home with the Revs. Hal Howard and Mike Carroll officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
She was a member of Huntsville Park Baptist Church and a Madison Academy graduate. She worked for South Atlantic Component Sales.
Survivors include two sons, Larry David Kirk Jr. and Casey Alan Kirk, both of Huntsville; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Minor of Huntsville; and one grandson.

Inez L. Parmer
GRANT - Inez Lillian Parmer, 75, of 47 6th St. died Friday at a Huntsville hospital. The graveside service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Panquin Cemetery with Brother Clayton Tuggle and Brother Anthony Barnes officiating.
Grant Memorial Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne Parmer and Bobby Parmer, both of Cartersville, Ga.; two daughters, Linda Smith of Swearengin and Lynn Parmer Threet of Athens; two brothers, F.J. Maze and Ed Maze, both of Arab; one sister, Ida Mae Glass of Arab; and eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jack W. Sanders
Jack W. Sanders, 65, of Huntsville died Thursday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Latham United Methodist Church with the Revs. Gary Ward and Grad Tanner officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery with Laughlin Service Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Sanders was a graduate of The Citadel in 1956. He retired from civil service in 1998. He was deputy project manager of the Stinger Missile and Enhanced Fiberoptic Guided Missile Project Office. He received the Decoration for Exceptional Civilian Service Award given by the Army and the Meritorious Civilian Service Award from the commander of the U.S. Army Missile Command.
Survivors include his wife, Velda Sanders; three daughters, Julia S. Banks of Apollo Beach, Fla., Regina Humphrey of Niceville, Fla., and Sandra Sanders Bitler of Glendale, Ariz.; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Latham Memorial Fund.

Vera L. Smith
BOAZ - Vera Linda Smith, 97, of Boaz died Thursday in a local nursing home. The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church.
Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Albertville Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include one daughter, Reba Rigsby of Dothan; one son, Bruce Smith of Boaz; one sister, Lucille Williams of Boaz; and 14 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
