Willie E. Burwell
Deacon Willie Edd Burwell, 73, of 309 Winchester Road died Friday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Beaver Dam P.B. Church with the Rev. Theodore Bone officiating.
Burial will be in Meadowlawn Garden of Peace with Royal Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include his wife Helen Burwell of Huntsville; three daughters, Deborah Jenkins of Dothan, and Velindia Burwell and Geraldine Burwell, both of Huntsville; two sons, Orlondo F. Burwell and Elder Mylon L. Burwell, both of Huntsville; one sister, Georgia Edwards of Harvest; and one brother, Samuel Moore of Huntsville.
His body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Lucile B. Case
Lucile Barksdale Case, 86, of Huntsville died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Mel A. Strain officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Funeral Home with Laughlin Service Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Case lived most her life in Huntsville. She studied nursing at Athens State College and was a physicians assistant for several years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, a circle Bible moderator, the chairperson of the Memorial Policy and Scholarship Fund and president of Women of the Church.
Survivors include her husband, Henry Burton Case Sr. of Huntsville; one son, Henry Burton Case Jr. of Columbia, S.C.; two daughters, Linda Case-Broughton of St. Louis, Mo., and Anna Case-Winters of Oak Park, Ill.; one brother, Paul Giddens Barksdale of Huntsville; six grandchildren and one granddaughter-in-law.
Memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arthur Cotruvo
Arthur Cotruvo, 66, of Huntsville died Saturday at his home. The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Phil OKennedy officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Cotruvo, a violinist and a teacher known throughout the South, taught chamber music for the Huntsville Youth Orchestra, was concert master for the Huntsville Opera Theater Orchestra and a member of the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra.
A proponent of the Suzuki method, Mr. Cotruvo taught and performed for 40 years. In 1987, he received an American String Teachers Association award for string development in the Starkville, Miss., public schools.
He taught violin and viola at Smith String Studio.
Survivors include his wife, Leona Cotruvo; one daughter, Carla Kinkopf of La Porte, Texas; one son, Nicholas Cotruvo of Birmingham; his mother, Angela Cotruvo, and a sister, Claire Lucarelli, both of Toledo, Ohio; one brother, Joseph Alfred Cotruvo of Washington D.C.; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A prayer service will follow the visitation.

Brenda J. Downs
BOAZ - Brenda Joyce Downs, 50, of 410 County Road 10 died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Albertville Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial was to be in Corinth P.B. Church Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Byron Downs; her mother, Faynell Duffey of Boaz; one brother, Dennis Duffey of Boaz; and her grandmother, Viola Duffey of Altoona.

Elmer R. Franklin
SCOTTSBORO - Elmer Richard Franklin, 72, died Saturday at a Jackson County hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Bellview Cemetery with John Mack Young officiating.
Spry Funeral Home will be in charge of burial.
Mr. Franklin, a native of Madison County, had lived in Scottsboro since 1992. he was retired from NASA and was a retired Church of Christ minister. He was a member of Broad Street Church of Christ in Scottsboro and was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Polly Franklin of Scottsboro; two daughters, Carolyn Ann Franklin Spencer of Montgomery and Brittany Watson of Scottsboro; two sons, Jimmy Richard Franklin of Skyline and Jackie Carson Franklin of Scottsboro; one brother, James Franklin of Clewiston, Fla.; and nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 3:30 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Walter E. Garner
NEW MARKET - Walter Eddie Garner, 65, of Arnold Road died Thursday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at St. Rebecca P.B. Church with the Rev. Robert Peavey officiating.
Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens with Royal Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include one son, Tyrone Garner of New Market; and six sisters, Earnestine Graham and Velma Garner, both of Meridianville, and Lillie Garner, Frances Bellamy, Jimmie Smith and Emma Byers, all of Huntsville.

Joyce I. Jackson
PERRYSBURG, Ohio - Joyce I. Jackson, 56, died June 19 in Ohio. The funeral was June 22 at Eggleston-Meinert Funeral Home with the Rev. Edward Heilman officiating.
Burial was in Restlawn Memorial Park in Perrysburg.
Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Hensley and Sherrie Phillips, both of Perrysburg; two sons, Ronnie Jackson of Toledo, Ohio, and Christopher Jackson of Rossford, Ohio; her father, Edgar Blankenship of Huntsville; and seven grandchildren.

Betty Jarrell
FLORENCE - Betty Horton Absher Jarrell, 82, died Saturday at a Florence hospital. The graveside service will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery with Joe VanDyke officiating.
Mrs. Jarrell was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Pepper Abernathy of Killen and Beth Jarrell Petersen of Florence; two sons, Stephen Jarrell of Waynesville, N.C., and Roger Jarrell of Florence; two sisters, CarrieBell Ponder of North Carolina and Helen Parker of Hanceville; and 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Elkins Funeral Home east chapel in Center Star.

Carolyn L. Kolk
CLAYSVILLE, Ala. - Carolyn Ladon Kolk, 58, of 1302 Bakers Chapel Road died Sunday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Bakers Chapel Baptist Church with Pastor Loyle Holt officiating.
Burial will be in Walker Cemetery with New Hope Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Kolk was the first female bailiff in Alabama and was a member of Bakers Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Gary M. Kolk of Claysville; two sons, Charles Jonathan Webster of Lakewood, Colo., and Michael Darnell Webster of Westminster, Colo.; one daughter, Teresa Lynn Webster of Albertville; three stepdaughters, Anna M. Green of Arvada, Colo., Pamela S. Peterson of Golden, Colo., and Cheryl A. Ulm of Fort Lupton, Colo.; two sisters, Ann Spivey of New Hope and Katherine Stewart of Huntsville; four brothers, Billy B. Davis of Huntsville; Charles W. Davis of Birmingham, Jack M. Davis of Claysville and Eugene H. Davis of Metairie, La.; and 16 grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Her body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

John T. Landtroop
MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. - John T. Landtroop, 64, died Thursday in Michigan City. A graveside service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Limestone Memorial Gardens in Athens, Ala. with Spry Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Landtroop was a native of Limestone County, Ala., a member of Full Gospel of Deliverance Church and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Indiana State Prison, where he was a maintenance foreman.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Irene Thompson Landtroop; his mother, Juanita Grisham Landtroop of Michigan City; two stepdaughters, Shirley Sheets of Michigan City and Patricia Cullison of Westminster, Colo.; one stepson, Ray Thurman of Michigan City; three sisters, Reba Carnell Hancock of Kansas City, Kan., Betty English of Savannah, Tenn., and Judy Antrim of San Diego; and seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Beate Leow
Beate Leow, 43, of Huntsville died Saturday at a local hospital. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, John R. Leow of Huntsville; one daughter, Tammy Williams of Huntsville; two sons, Chrispian Burks and Anthony Burks, both of Huntsville; her mother, Hildegard Metz of Germany; three brothers, Achim Herder, Matthais Herder and Karlinz Herder, all of Germany.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Leona H. Maxwell
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Leona Harman Maxwell, 69, of 5345 Colonial Circle died Sunday at a Tennessee hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home chapel with Jim Averitt officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Maxwell was a native of Madison County, but lived in middle Tennessee most her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer G. Maxwell.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Simpson of Murfreesboro and Johnny Simpson of Smyrna, Tenn.; three stepsons, James Maxwell of Woodbury, Tenn., Jerry Maxwell of Murfreesboro and Johnny Maxwell of Lascassas, Tenn.; two daughters, Alice Faye Thomas of Huntsville and Kathy Riley of Portland, Tenn.; one stepdaughter, Delores Maxwell of Ohio; one sister, Idell Wilburn of Huntsville; and 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was to be today from 5 to 9 p.m at the funeral home.

Art J. Mitchell
POOLESVILLE, Md. - Art Jonathon Mitchell, 38, died Saturday. The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home chapel in Tuscumbia with Larry Kilpatrick officiating.
Burial will be in Piney Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Mitchell, a native of Muscle Shoals, lived much of his youth in Huntsville. He lived in Poolesville 22 years and worked in graphic design.
Survivors include one son, Rauney James Mitchell of Huntsville; his parents, Rauney and Wanda J. Mitchell of Poolesville; and one brother, Timothy M. Mitchell of Huntsville.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary Mitchell
LESTER - Mrs. Mary Aline Smith Mitchell, 68, of Easter Ferry Road died Saturday at her home. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home in Athens with Glenn Keenon officiating.
Burial was to be in Legg Cemetery.
Mrs. Mitchell was a homemaker and a member of Bethel Church of Christ, Bethel, Tenn.
Survivors include her husband, Frank H. Mitchell; one daughter, Nancy D. Smith of Lester; one son, James W. Smith of Lester; two brothers, Carson Lawrence and Garner Lawrence, both of Minor Hill, Tenn.; one stepdaughter, Gale McKinney of Elkmont; four stepsons, Joe Henry Mitchell, Jessie Mitchell, Jerry W. Mitchell and Frank Henry Mitchell Jr., all of Elkmont; and two grandchildren, 15 step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Edith Nichols
ALBERTVILLE - Edith Nichols, 73, of 301 OHara Drive died Saturday at a local hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at North Broad Street Church of Christ in Albertville.
Burial was to be in Marshall Memorial Garden with Albertville Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include one daughter, Charlotte Sligh of Albertville; two sons, Mike Nichols of Georgia and Dr. Tim Nichols of Guntersville; four sisters, Agnes Clemons and Elvie Peck, both of Killen, Irma Estes of Missouri and Martha Burrows of Tennessee; eight brothers, Howard Hamner, Hershell Hamner, Horace Hamner, Hunter Hamner, Hollie Hamner, George Hamner and Troy Hamner, all of Killen, and John Hamner of Lanette; and nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Hazel A. Owens
SANTA ROSA BEACH, Fla. - Hazel A. Owens, 73, of 64 Birch St. died Thursday in Florida. The funeral was to be today at 11 a.m. at Albertville Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial was to be in Marshall Memorial Garden.
Survivors include one daughter, Melantie Carter of California; two sons, Gerald Owens of Martling and Billy Owens of Florida; two sisters, Helen Graves of Arab and Wanda White of Albertville; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mildred R. Riggs
DECATUR - Mrs. Mildred Rodgers Riggs, 90, died Friday at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, Mich. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Willie Delashaw officiating.
Burial will be in Johnson Chapel cemetery.
Mrs. Riggs was preceded in death by her husband, David W. Riggs.
Survivors include three daughters, Syble Ward of Richland, Mich., Peggy Holmes of Kalamazoo and Carolyn Spainhour of Waterford, Mich.; two sons, Raymond Riggs and Wayne Riggs, both of Decatur; one sister, Flora Glenn of Huntsville; and 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Jerry K. Sharp
DECATUR - Jerry Kirk Sharp, 51, died Saturday in Guntersville. The funeral will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony Willis officiating. Burial will be in Mount Tabor Cemetery.
Mr. Sharp was a salesman with AFLAC Insurance Co. and was a member of Calvary Assembly of God.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine Sharp; one daughter, Anne Sharp of Decatur; one son, Jerry Wayne Sharp of Decatur; and one brother, Donnie Sharp of Decatur.

Albert C. Shirey
SYLVANIA - Albert C. Shirey, 94, died Saturday. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at W.T. Wilson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Doyle Shirey officiating.
Burial was to be in Mountain View Memory Gardens.
Mr. Shirey was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was retired from Lookout Oil Refinery. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Sylvania Eastern Star.
Survivors include one daughter, Marie S. Duckett of Sylvania; one son, Harold C. Shirey of Sylvania; three sisters, Ruth Neeley of Sylvania, Lorene Anderson of Rome, Ga., and Othel Crawford of Dutton; and two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Faith Trapane
Faith Trapane, infant daughter of Andrew and Pat Trapane of Huntsville, died Sunday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Madison Chapel Funeral Home with Tom Reynolds officiating.
Other survivors include her grandparents, Gloria Trapane of Madison and Bethel and Ovida Campbell of Union Grove.
Visitation will be today from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospitality House.

Herman L. White
Herman L. White, 62, of Huntsville died Friday at a local hospital. The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home with the Rev. Cecil Dunson officiating.
Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Mr. White was a native of Jackson County, and lived in Madison County most his life.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Irene White of Huntsville; two daughters, Wanda Sepulveda of Deming, N.M., and Rhonda Gail White of Huntsville; two sons, David Lee White of New Market and Jeffery Joe White of Huntsville; 10 sisters, Eva Dake of Douglas, Vivian Smithey, Margaret Owens and Barbara White, all of New Market, Linda Carter of Fayetteville, Tenn., Carolyn Blankenship, Shirley Sampayo, Debbie Kimbrough and Mary White, all of Huntsville, and Faye Brand of Mayesville; one brother, Danny Ray White of New Market; and nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Roy L. Wiggins
HARVEST - Roy Lee Wiggins, 75, of 1617 Nick Davis Road died Friday at a local hospital. The funeral will be Wednesday at noon at Indian Creek P.B. Church with the Rev. Timothy Rainey officiating.
Burial will be in Indian Creek Cemetery with Royal Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Wiggins of Harvest; two daughters, Robin King of Decatur and Bessie Smith of Huntsville; two sons, Robert Wiggins and Corronzo Lockhart, both of Huntsville; and one sister, Mary Lane of Huntsville.
His body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Floyd Workman
ROGERSVILLE - Floyd ''Bud Workman Jr., 62, died Saturday at his home. The graveside service will be today at 3:30 p.m. at Miller Cemetery with J.W. Vickers Sr. officiating and Spry Funeral Home of Athens in charge of burial.
Mr. Workman was retired from NASA, was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era and was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lizzie Courtney and Floyd and Leona Workman, and one sister, Donna Ray Hollerman.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Nash Workman; two sons, Steve Workman and Kevin Workman, both of Rogersville; four grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of Shoals or to the Rogersville Emergency Unit.
