Ruth Benson
NEW MARKET - Ruth Benson, 86, of Upcreek Road died Saturday at her home. The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Gallant Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. James Campbell officiating.
Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery.
Mrs. Benson was a Lincoln County, Tenn., native and was a housewife and a member of Concord C.P. Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ruth Campbell of Maysville and Margaret Pamela Benson of New Market; one son, Marvin Dale Benson of Keller, Texas; two sisters, Eunice Cabiness of Gurley and Mary Elizabeth Dale Campbell of New Market; and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ruby C. Bentley
NORTHPORT - Ruby C. Bentley, 89, died Monday at a Tuscaloosa hospital. The funeral will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville.
Mrs. Bentley was a native of Pontotoc, Miss., but lived in Huntsville for 32 years before moving to Northport in 1984.
Survivors include three sons, John Bentley of Bear, Del., William Bentley of Kinston, N.C., and Peter Bentley of Northport; and four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Johnny D. Bozarth
KELSO, Tenn. - Johnny Dee Bozarth, 87, of 2514 Winchester Highway died today at a Lincoln County nursing home. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Gum Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Woodrow Pinkerton officiating.
Burial will be in Concord Cemetery with Higgins Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include two brothers, Malcolm Bozarth of New Market and James Bozarth of Huntsville; three sisters, Ethel Parker of Huntsville, Mona Hart of Athens and Betty Hallman of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
His body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Ethel Brewer
PRINCETON - Ethel Brewer, 86, died Sunday. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at the Scottsboro Funeral Home with the Revs. David Swafford and J.W. Hawkins officiating.
Burial was to be in Clay Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Cecil Brewer; one son, Charles Brewer of Princeton; three sisters, Bethel Swafford of Estill Fork, Wade Hall of Princeton and Anglee Swafford of Scottsboro; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Dock Cooper
NEW HOPE - Dock Cooper, 85, of 349 Crawley Road died Monday at a local hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at New Hope Funeral Home with Brother Shelby Hill officiating.
Burial was to be in Hayden Cemetery.
Mr. Cooper was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Idell Cooper of New Hope; one son, Jerry Cooper of Laceys Spring; one daughter, Carolyn LeMaster of Grant; three sisters, Zora Anderson and Rosie Brooks, both of Grant, and Nora Sutton of Valley Head; three brothers, J.D. Cooper of Scottsboro, Leonard Cooper of New Hope and Milburn Cooper of Grant; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Patricia S. Hanson
Patricia Stuckman Hanson, 70, of Huntsville died Monday at a local hospital. Laughlin Service Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.
Mrs. Hanson taught in Huntsville city schools for 26 years. She also did volunteer work and was a member of Holmes Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Janyce Stout of Elizabethtown, Ky., Lynn Sims of Aurora, Colo., and Mary Pat Riley of Huntsville; two sons, Hugh Hanson of Huntsville and Phillip Hanson of Raleigh, N.C.; and eight grandchildren.

Van J. Hooper
BOAZ - Van Jerome Hooper, 61, of 14171 Highway 168 died Monday at his home. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Albertville Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Burial was to be in Mount Flat Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbi Harvey; two daughters, Kitty Dalrymple and Tracie Davis, both of Boaz; one son, Creston Hooper of Boaz; his mother, Viola Hooper of Boaz; one sister, Doris Nix of Boaz; and three grandchildren.

Leonard B. Houk
BROWNSBORO - Leonard Brambal Houk, 72, died Sunday at a local nursing home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home with the Rev. Vernon Luckey officiating.
Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Mr. Houk was a U.S. Army veteran and a native of Bend, Ore., and was a descendent of one of Oregons earliest settlers. He had lived in Huntsville 32 years, was a member of the Masonic lodge and was retired from Dunlop Tire Co.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Rosa Houk of Brownsboro; one daughter, Belinda Raymond of Huntsville; one son, Gary Lee Houk of Huntsville; two sisters, Irene Partin of New Plymouth, Idaho, and Patsy Farquhar of Post Falls, Ore.; one brother, Donald Houk of Tokyo, Japan; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Leo J. Lawsine
Leo Jacob Lawsine, 88, of Huntsville died Friday at a local hospital. No funeral is planned.
Entombment was in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Mr. Lawsine held degrees from Columbia University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie Bee Lawsine of Huntsville.

George L. Leslie
George L. Leslie, 67, of 3002 Tucker Drive in Huntsville died Saturday at his home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Blackburn Chapel C.P. Church with the Rev. George Franklin Sr. officiating.
Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens with Nelms Memorial Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie Lee Leslie of Huntsville; four sons, George Leslie Jr. of Dallas, Texas, and Carl Leslie, Ray Leslie and Moses Leslie, all of Huntsville; five daughters, Julia Matthews of Atlanta, Sharon Jenkins of Liberty, Texas, and Minnie Whitson, Carolyn Parks and Anette Burress, all of Huntsville; and 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
His body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Garland E. McCutchen
SECTION - Garland Ebby McCutchen, 86, died Sunday at his home. The funeral was to be today at 4 p.m. at the Section Funeral Home with the Revs. Herbert Wilborn, Maurice Johnson, Erby Shankles and Jessie Guinn officiating.
Burial was to be in Harmony Cemetery.
Survivors include two sisters, Virtice McCutchen and Nadean McCutchen, both of Section; and one brother, Bircket McCutchen of Rainsville.

Elaine A. McKelvey
HAZEL GREEN - Elaine A. McKelvey, 79, died Friday. The funeral was Monday at Green view Funeral Home chapel in Florence with Dr. Gill McKee officiating.
Burial was in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. McKelvey was a retired bookkeeper and was a member of Highland Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Robert E. McKelvey of Palestine, Texas; one daughter, Edith June Phillips of Hazel Green ; five sisters, Mildred Hope, Nellis Dickens and Vivian Mason, all of Estill Springs, Tenn., Doris Hodge of Atlanta and Edwina Matson of Austin, Texas; and five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Hal G. McKelvey
SCOTTSBORO - Hal G. McKelvey, 83, died Friday at his home. The funeral was today at 11 a.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home with Dr. John David Hall officiating.
Burial was in Park Cemetery in Carthage, Mo.
Survivors include one son, Richard L. McKelvey of Joplin, Mo.; one sister, Edith Hill of Montgomery; one brother, Roy McKelvey of Long Beach, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church or the Scottsboro Lions Club.

Gladys M. Norman
GURLEY - Gladys Miller Norman, 72, died Monday at her home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Ed Edgar and James Phelps officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Norman was a Madison County native and a member of the Gurley Church of God. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jacob D. Miller, and a son, Jimmy Miller.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon Lee Norman of Gurley; one daughter, Brenda Bradford of Huntsville; four sons, David Miller, John Miller and Thomas Miller, all of Huntsville, and Dale Miller of Ardmore, Ala.; and six stepchildren, 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 4 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Family Care.

Cecil E. Rozell
ARDMORE, Ala. - Cecil Edward Rozell, 68, of 2nd St. died Sunday at his home. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home chapel with Brother Wheeler Kidd officiating.
Burial will be in Briar Fork Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Rozell of Ardmore, Ala.; one son, Wayne Rozell of Chicago; one stepson, Terry Rozell of Pulaski, Tenn.; one daughter, Patsy Benton of Chicago; one stepdaughter, Connie Rozell of Pulaski; one brother, Frank Rozell of Darin, Ill.; eight sisters, Elsie Crabtree and Estelle Dawson, both of Ardmore, Tenn., Louise Carter of Toney, Mattie Massey of Carriere, Miss., Dayna Turner of Jacksonville, Fla., and Janice Vickers, Gail Puckett and Susan Hobbs, all of Elkmont; and eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Lena M. Shelton
Lena Mae Shelton, 85, of Huntsville died Monday at her home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Leland Bush officiating.
Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Shelton was a native of Illinois, but had lived in Huntsville most of her life. She was a retired textile worker and attended East Huntsville Assembly of God.
Survivors include her husband, Howard Shelton of Huntsville; one son, Jack W. Shelton of Falkville; and two grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Carlena Smith
Carlena "Tiny" Smith, 70, of Huntsville died Sunday at her home. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Carl Maul officiating.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Lincoln County, Tenn., but spent most of her life in Madison County. She and her late husband, Martin Smith, owned and operated Jays Lounge for 25 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Ann Matkin of Huntsville; two sisters, Louise Owen and Betty DAunoy, both of Huntsville; one brother, Charles Gaut Jr. of Huntsville; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 4 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Charles Stewart
ARAB - Charles Stewart, 72, of 2153 U.S. 231 South died Saturday at a Birmingham hospital. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Arab Church of God.
Burial will be in Gilliam Springs Cemetery with Arab Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in charge. Visitation will be today until 9 p.m.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Stewart; two daughters, Rebecca Saint of Arab and Deborah Clay of Anniston; two sons, Michael Stewart and Charles E. Stewart, both of Arab; one brother, Johnny Stewart of Anniston; and 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Merle Williams
ALBERTVILLE - Merle Williams, 63, of 575 Elbert Drive died Sunday in Florida. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. at Carr Funeral Home in Boaz.
Burial was to be in Liberty Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Myrle Williams; four sons, Gregory Fortner of Georgia, Edward James of North Carolina, Gary Zuber of Florida and John Fortner of Albertville; one sister, Jo Ann Romano of Illinois; one brother, Tommy Brizzinski of Illinois; and eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
