TRINITY -- Funeral for Dorothy Rae Whalen, 70, of Moulton will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. Duane Maas and the Rev. David Lewis officiating.

Burial will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Whalen died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. She was born May 12, 1929, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Edward and Mable Eynon. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband, James Steven Whalen of Moulton; three sons, Stephen James Whalen of Muscle Shoals, Edward Steven Whalen of South Carolina and William Lee Whalen of Decatur; two daughters, Janie Ruth Blevins of Trinity and Mary Jane Stewart of Hartselle; one sister, Jeannie Strafrey of Youngstown, Ohio; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Blevins, Jimmy Blevins and Stephen Blevins.

Paul Henry Childers
79, missionary
PUCALLPA, Peru -- Funeral for Paul Henry Childers, 79, of Pucallpa was Friday at the Pucallpa Mission.

Mr. Childers died Wednesday, March 8, 2000, in Pucallpa. He was born Aug. 21, 1920, in Morgan County to George and Alma Childers. He was a missionary for the Church of God in South America and Africa. He was the brother of the late Mildridge Childers and Luvelle Childers Ryan.

His is survived by his wife, Connie Childers; two daughters, Mona Lisa Childers of Goldsboro, N.C., and Maxima Childers of Montana; one sister, Aretas Powell of Cullman; and six grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Pucallpa Mission in care of Connie Childers, Apartado 71, Pucallpa, Peru, S.A.

Kendell Wayne Green
62, retired truck driver

HOLLY POND -- Private graveside service for Kendell Wayne Green , 62, of Decatur will be Sunday with Holly Pond Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Green died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Nov. 14, 1937, in Cullman County to Floyd W. and Bertha Feemster Green . He was a retired truck driver.

He is survived by two sons, Wayne Green and Dusty Green , both of Decatur; two daughters, Susan Campbell and Dodie Wilhite, both of Hartselle; three brothers, Lyman L. Green of Michigan, John B. Green of Blountsville and William R. Green of Arab; and two sisters, Bernice Johnson of Guntersville and Nila Mae Gradine of Arab.

Matthew Thomas Hill
Infant

TRINITY -- Graveside service for infant Matthew Thomas Hill of Moulton will be today at 2 p.m. at East Lawrence Memorial Gardens with Marcus Lipscomb officiating and Parkway Funeral Home directing.

The infant died Friday, March 10, 2000, the day of his birth, at Parkway Medical Center.

He is survived by his parents, Jeff and April Hill of Moulton; one sister, Sarah Ann Hill of Moulton; and his grandparents, Willard and Karen Hill, Jennifer and Bill Bledsoe, and Joe and Debbie Williams.

John Dalton Parks Jr.
65, machine tool salesman

BIRMINGHAM -- Memorial service for John Dalton Parks Jr., 65, of Birmingham will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Johns-Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:30 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Parks died Friday, March 10, 2000, at Baptist Hospital Montclair in Birmingham. He was born Sept. 19, 1934, in Guin. He was a graduate of Auburn University and a machine tool salesman.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn L. Parks; one son, John D. Parks III of Salem, Ore.; one daughter, Holly L. Parks of Boston; his mother, Estelle M. Parks of Jasper; one brother, William B. Parks of Bethel Park, Penn.; and one sister, Sandra Girten of Jasper.

Memorials may be made to First Light Women's Shelter, 2100 Fourth Ave. N., Birmingham, AL 35203.

Theodis Melvin 'Big Man' Scruggs Jr.

Funeral for Theodis Melvin "Big Man" Scruggs Jr., 63, of Alexander City will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church in Hillsboro with the Rev. Samuel Green officiating.

Burial will be in Rocky Hill Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Scruggs died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at The University of Alabama Hospital at Birmingham. He was born March 21, 1936, in Lawrence County to Theodis and Ollie Mae McGuire Scruggs. He was a member of Rocky Hill Church.

He is survived by four brothers, Carl Scruggs of Hillsboro, Prentice Scruggs of Lawton, Okla., Prince Scruggs of Decatur and Darryl Scruggs of Goodwater; and two sisters, Alma Stevens of Huntsville and Edna Bolden of Hillsboro.

Pallbearers will be Rick Gholston, Carl Willingham, Sam Willingham, Tony Watkins, Ron Bolden and Kendrick Scruggs.

James Sidney Terry
78, retired crane operator

Funeral for James Sidney Terry, 78, of Decatur will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Robershaw and the Rev. Hal Daigre officiating.

Burial will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Terry died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at Parkway Medical Center. He was born May 14, 1921, in Morgan County to Charles Ellis Terry and Leola Nix Terry. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served as a master sergeant in the European Theater. He was a deacon at Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he was a member for 38 years. He was a retired crane operator from Decatur Iron and Steel with 30 years of service. He also retired from Ingalls Shipyard and worked at Terco General Contractors.

He is survived by his wife, Auriel Lee Terry; four sons, Charles Sidney Terry of Arlington, Texas, James Sidney Terry Jr. of Bessemer, Garland Terry and Rusty Terry, both of Hartselle; three daughters, Libby Boggess, Debbie Ashmore and Jill Kelley, all of Decatur; 18 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Porter Terry, B.C. Terry, Ray Terry, Prentiss Long, Butch Cantrell and Odis Terry.

Katherine Virginia Whitehurst Tyndall
89, retired teacher

Funeral for Katherine Virginia Whitehurst Tyndall, 89, of Decatur will be today at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ken Dunivant officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

Graveside service will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Pink Hill, N.C., on Sunday at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Clark Barfield officiating. The family will receive friends today one hour before the service at the church and again Sunday at Pink Hill Funeral Home one hour before burial.

Mrs. Tyndall died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at NHC Healthcare Center in Moulton. She was born May 5, 1910, in Virginia to Timothy and Gertrude Whitney Whitehurst. She was a retired teacher with 30 years of service in Pink Hill. She graduated from East Carolina Teachers College in Greenville, N.C. She was the widow of Jasper Denny Tyndall.

She is survived by one daughter, Ann Tyndall Ozier of Decatur; three sisters, Louise Stafford of Moyock, N.C., and Mary Buckwalter and Doris Poe, both of Chesapeake, Va.; and two grandchildren.

Ida Whisante
60, homemaker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Ida Whisante, 60, of Lacey's Spring will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Matroni officiating.

Burial will be in Lipscomb Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at her daughter's home in Lacey's Spring from today at noon until Monday at 1 p.m. The body will be at her daughter's home during that time.

Mrs. Whisante died Friday, March 10, 2000, at her home. She was born July 18, 1939, in Madison County to Jessie and Daisy Dean Davis Bradford. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by four sons, Mike McQuiston and Donnie Whisante, both of Lacey's Spring, Billy Stover of Huntsville and Harless Whisante of Valhermoso Springs; four daughters, Anita McQuiston and Jackie Epling, both of Lacey's Spring, Carol Jean Duke of Somerville and Sandy Taybor of Huntsville; one brother, Houston Bradford of Valhermoso Springs; two sisters, Inez Ashley of Lacey's Spring and Bethal Parcus of Lincoln; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Lanier, Audy Parcus, John Parcus, Monrow Parcus, Al Thompson and Robby Thornberry.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley.

Robert Wayne Barrett
71, retired
MOULTON -- Funeral for Robert Wayne Barrett, 71, of Moulton was Saturday at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Jackie Shelton officiating.

Burial was in Cheatham Cemetery.

Mr. Barrett died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at his home. He was born July 21, 1928, in Lawrence County. He retired after working at General Motors for several years. He was the father of the late Barbara Fleming.

He is survived by two daughters, Margaret Levins and Peggy Miller, both of Cottondale; two brothers, James E. Barrett of Addison and Farrell Barrett of Moulton; two sisters, Marie Roberson and Judy Dutton, both of Moulton; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Robert Oron Durham
87, sales representative

Funeral for Robert Oron Durham, 87, of Decatur will be today at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Dunivant and the Rev. Charles Boling officiating.

Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.

Mr. Durham died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at Summerford Nursing Home in Falkville. He was born Sept. 29, 1912, in Madison County to William Perry Durham and Nora Woods Raby Durham. He was reared on a farm near Toney and lived in Decatur for most of his adult life. He was a sales representative for Smith Brothers Manufacturing Co. of Carthage, Mo., selling casual clothing throughout the Southeast; he retired after more than 40 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Alabama Sheriff's Boys and Girls Ranch Builders Club and a member of First United Methodist Church. He served as a youth counselor and on the church administrative board.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Jacks Durham; one son, Lawrence Bradley Durham of Birmingham; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Members of the Julian Harris Sunday school class of First United Methodist Church will be honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or the Alabama Sheriff's Boys and Girls Ranch.

Erik Hunter Harris

HARTSELLE -- Graveside service for infant Erik Hunter Harris of Hartselle will be today at 2:30 p.m. at Holly Pond Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Franks officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.

The baby was died Friday, March 10, 2000, the day of his birth, at Huntsville Hospital.

He is survived by his parents, Wayne David Harris and Melinda Earls Harris of Hartselle; and his grandparents, Earnie and Merlene Earls of Hartselle and Betty Harris Waldrop of Clermont, Fla.

Pallbearers will be Mark Bennett and Kevin Earls.

Joseph Thomas 'Jake' Lindsey

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Joseph Thomas "Jake" Lindsey, 78, of Falkville will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Oden Ridge Baptist Church.

Burial will be in Oden Ridge Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Lindsey died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at Hartselle Medical Center. Other arrangements will be announced by the funeral home.
