ATHENS -- Funeral for Gartrell Hall, 93, of Madison was to be today at 3 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Freed Bullington and Herschel Patton official.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Hall died Friday, March 17, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Oct. 3, 1906 in LaFayette, Ga. She was a member of New Georgia Church of Christ near Anderson and was a homemaker. She was the widow of Gardner Hall.

She is survived by two sons, Sewell Hall of Atlanta and Bill Hall of Rogersville; two daughters, Mary Faye Headrick of Anderson and Lillian Perkins of Madison; one brother, Frank Mitchell of Sommerville, Ga.; two sisters, Ludie Burns and Sue Spurney, both of Royston, Ga.; and 15 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Eugene Cagle, James Cagle, Doyce Richardson, Malchom Andrews, Billy Lovell and Tony Gregory.

Annie Hanvy
92, homemaker

Funeral for Annie Hanvy, 92, of Town Creek will be Sunday at 10 a.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Strickland officiating.

Burial will be in Old Bethel Cemetery in Colbert County. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hanvy died Friday, March 17, 2000, at Carraway Methodist Burdick West Hospital in Haleyville. She was born March 16, 1908, in Marion County to Gideon Jasper and Helen Hanvy. She was a Baptist and a homemaker.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Hanvy, Nathaniel Murphree, Marvin Cameron, Greg Sutton, Steve Sutton and Mark Sutton.

George Allen Holmes Jr.
48, carpenter, painter

MOULTON -- Funeral for George Allen Holmes Jr., 48, of Benson, Ariz., will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Bohannon officiating.

Burial will be in Courtland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

He is survived by two sons, Allen Holmes of Jacksonville, Fla., and Shane Holmes of Blue Jack, Okla.; three sisters, Ericka Holmes and Elizabeth Holmes, both of Jacksonville, Fla., and Savannah Holmes of Blue Jack, Okla.; his father and mother, George Allen Holmes Sr. and Martha Holmes of Loganville, Ga.; four brothers, James I. Holmes of Courtland, Daniel Holmes and William Holmes, both of Spring Hill, Fla., and Charles Holmes of Adairsville, Ga.; one sister, Georgia Jean Gerstner of Fayetteville, Ark.; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be James Holmes, Daniel Holmes, William Holmes, Charles Holmes, Butch Wood and Derrick Ellison.

Dot Perry
69, businesswoman

Funeral for Dot Perry, 69, of Decatur will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Eugene McNutt officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Perry died Thursday, March 16, 2000, at home. She was born Nov. 23, 1930, in Morgan County to Earl Lee and Grace A. Roberts Harden. She was secretary and co-owner of Forklift Repair Service. She was the mother of the late Joey Perry.

She is survived by her husband, James L. Perry; two sons, Steve Perry and Mike Perry, both of Decatur; one daughter, Renee Johnson of Killen; two stepdaughters, Beverly Dial and Amanda Hagood, both of Decatur; three grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Joe Pirtle, Adley Mason, Anthony Wiley, Danny Girodo, Thomas Brittnell and Bruce Landers.

Mildred Malone Swanner
74, retired inspector

ATHENS -- Funeral for Mildred Malone Swanner, 74, of Athens was to be today at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home Chapel with Thomas Ferris officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Swanner died Thursday, March 16, 2000, at Athens Convalescent Center. She was born Sept. 25, 1925, in Limestone County. She was a member of Valley View Church of Christ and was a retired inspector for Fly Manufacturing.

She is survived by three daughters, Dianne Reece of Athens, Gail Stark of Decatur and Connie Schreiber of Columbia, Tenn.; two sons, Roger Swanner of Morgan City, La., and Bobby Swanner of Hartselle; two sisters, Jeanette Mitchell of Cornersville, Tenn., and Ollie Eckstein of Ardmore; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Barnett, Paul Mitchell, Jimmy Mitchell, Jeff Craig, Richard Martin and Travis Lewis.

Floye West Wray
87, retired seamstress

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Floye West Wray, 87, of Somerville was to be today at 2:30 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Harlon Hood and the Rev. John Bailey officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery. The body will be in the church one hour before the service. Mrs. Wray died at home Thursday, March 16, 2000.

She was born Aug. 12, 1912, in Morgan County. She was the daughter of the late Henry Eutaw West and the late Elizabeth Thomas West. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and was a retired seamstress for Orr Drapery.

She is survived by one son, Billie Wray of Arab; two daughters, Hazel Wood and Louise Henderson, both of Somerville; one brother, Owen West of Lacey's Spring; one sister, Grace Dean of Stockbridge, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Agnes Armstrong

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Agnes Green Armstrong, 72, of Decatur will be today at 2 p.m. at Oden Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Milford Hayes and the Rev. Raymond Stinson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Rock Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Armstrong died Friday, March 17, 2000, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born Sept. 2, 1927, in Marshall County. She was a member of Hartselle Church of Christ. She was the widow of Tommy Armstrong.

She is survived by three sons, Thomas Armstrong of Decatur, James Armstrong of Eva and William V. Pierce of Birmingham; three daughters, Maybell Armstrong of Eva and Bertha Armstrong and Margaret Armstrong, both of Fyffe; three brothers, Rufus Green , Winford Green and Orville Green , all of Joppa; one sister, Bernice Talley of Joppa; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Van Chappel, David Chappel, Chris Chappel, David Beavers, Tim Beavers and O.Q. Childers.

Constance D. Moody
91, retired librarian

Graveside service for Constance D. Moody, 91, of Decatur will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Winston County with the Rev. Larry Armstrong officiating and Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Moody died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at NHC Healthcare in Moulton. She was born July 8, 1908, in Vallejo, Calif., to Clarence A. Dailey and Edythe Eve Crane Dailey. She was a retired librarian for the state of California. She was the widow of Kenneth Moody.

She is survived by one niece, CeCelia Armstrong of Montgomery and one nephew, Lamar Smith of Trinity.

Printess Norton
74, retired Monsanto lab technician

MOULTON -- Graveside service for Printess Norton, 74, of Courtland will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery with the Rev. William Cooper officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Elliott Funeral Home.

Mr. Norton died at home Saturday, March 18, 2000.

He was born Oct. 4, 1925, in Lawrence County. He was a retired laboratory technician for Monsanto.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Norton; two daughters, Nancy Norton of Florence and Emily Norton of Courtland; one son, Steve Norton of Courtland; and four grandchildren.

Beverly Sue Tanner
50, nurse's aide

Funeral for Beverly Sue Tanner, 50, of Tanner will be today at 3:30 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Bullard officiating.

Burial will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends today from 1:30 to 3:30 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Tanner died at home Thursday, March 16, 2000. She was born Oct. 1, 1949, in Dayton, Ohio. She was the mother of the late Bill Larimore and the daughter of the late Rufford McIntosh. She was a nurse's aide.

She is survived by one daughter, Shannon Styles of Tanner; her mother, Jessie McIntosh of Decatur; three brothers, Randall Blair of River, Ky., Larry Ealy of Hartselle and Steve McIntosh of Decatur; three sisters, Patty McCormick of Kansas City, Kan., Cheryl Snedigar of Tanner and Kathy Cukovechi of Ohio; and two granddaughters.

Pallbearers will be Mark Freeman, Jeff Splitlog, Anthony Prince, Sid Fleming, Pat Lee and Nathan Wise.

Medgitt Koontz Wood
67, retired minister

MADISON -- Funeral for Medgitt Koontz Wood, 67, of Athens will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Madison Chapel with the Rev. Richard Saylor, the Rev. Neal Culberson and the Rev. Calvin Havens III officiating.

Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 to 9 at Madison Funeral Home.

Mr. Wood died Friday, March 17, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born March 7, 1933, in Dayton, Ohio. He was a retired Methodist minister.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Wood; three sons, Medgitt K. Wood III of Kentucky, Phillip Wood of Ohio and Matthew Wood of Huntsville; four daughters, Joyce Wood of Kentucky, Dawn Wood of Ohio, Denice Wood and April Wood, both of Athens; six brothers; two sisters; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth Ealine Adams
43, retired machine operator
HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Elizabeth Ealine Adams, 43, of Hartselle will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Wendell Callahan and the Rev. Dewitt Crowe officiating.

Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Adams died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born Oct. 18, 1956, in Cook County, Ill., to Clinton J. and Berta N. Ledlow Simmons. She was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church and a retired machine operator for General Electric after 21 years.

She is survived by one son, Ashley Dale Adams of Hartselle; her parents of Hartselle; and two sisters, Carol Hill and Judy Simmons, both of Hartselle.

Pallbearers will be Bo Kalor, Billy Mason, Bobby Walker, Nathan Hill, Wayne Stiles and Teddy Mayfield.
