Chesley Buren Goodman
78, retired clerk

ATHENS -- Funeral for Chesley Buren Goodman, 78, of Athens will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Lackey and the Rev. Joe Teal officiating.

Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Goodman died Monday, April 3, 2000, at his home. He was born Oct. 28, 1921, in Lauderdale County.

He was a U.S. Army Air Forces veteran of World War II and a member of First Baptist Church of Athens. He was a retired clerk from Bomar Inn. He was the father of the late Chesley B. Goodman Jr. and brother of the late Eugene Goodman.

He is survived by his wife, Sibyl S. Goodman; two sons, Michael L. Goodman of Athens and Charlie S. Goodman of Madrid, Spain; one brother, Dr. Jack Goodman of Athens; four sisters, Willie T. Cagle of Rogersville, F.A. Haney of Athens, Neva Belew of Columbia, Tenn., and Bobbie Griggs of Nashville; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Tabitha Denee Lampkin

Funeral for infant Tabitha Denee Lampkin of Decatur will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Reynolds Funeral Home with the Rev. George Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Campground Cemetery.

The infant died Friday, March 31, 2000, at her home. She was born Feb. 11, 2000, in Decatur. She is survived by her parents, Antonio Lampkin and Latisha Martin of Decatur; two brothers, Antonio Lampkin Jr. and Darius Martin, both of Decatur; one sister, Jamila Martin of Decatur; and her grandparents, Johnny and Carolyn Gaiter, and Johnny and Geneva Martin, all of Decatur.

Carl Adair
60, retired sawmill worker

MOULTON -- Funeral for Carl Adair, 60, of Trinity will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Adair died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Jan. 31, 1940, in Lawrence County. He retired as a sawmill worker at Bankhead Forest Industrial Inc.

He is survived by one daughter, Tammy Adair of Addison; six brothers, Glyn Johnson and Leon Johnson, both of Danville, James Sapp of Decatur, Wendell Sapp of Town Creek, Denford Sapp and Kenneth Sapp, both of Trinity; four sisters, Naline Nelms, Cassie Nelms, Doris Way and Linda Decatur, all of Trinity; and two grandchildren.

Imogene Garrison Blankenship
87, homemaker, nutrition specialist

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Imogene Garrison Blankenship, 87, of Decatur will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at New Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Wallace Willingham and the Rev. Earl Holt officiating.

Burial will be in Center Springs Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Blankenship died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born Nov. 19, 1912, in Morgan County to N.Q. Dillard and Lily Lee Lyle Garrison. She was a homemaker and a food and nutrition specialist with Auburn University Extension Service. A member of New Friendship Baptist Church and Morgan County Home Demonstration Club for 50 years, she received the Outstanding Leadership Award from the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service for extension education in 4-H, home economics, agriculture and community resource development.

She was the widow of Clayton D. Blankenship and the sister of the late Ameron P. Garrison. She is survived by one son, Leverette Lemond Blankenship of Decatur; one daughter, Eleanor Fran Blankenship Holt of Decatur; one brother, Homer Lyle Garrison of Somerville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Neito Garrison, Gursham Garrison, Jimmy Sharp, Charles Taylor, Darryl Moody and C.W. Gibson.

Memorials may be made to the Center Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.

Hurst Cartee
84, TVA retiree

TRINITY -- Funeral for Hurst Cartee, 84, of Hillsboro will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with Mike Nix and B.L. Hale officiating.

Burial will be in Smyrna Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Cartee died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born May 3, 1915, in Lawrence County to Hyatt and Nona Payne Cartee. He was a veteran of World War II and was retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority.

He is survived by one son, Odis H. Cartee of Hillsboro; one daughter, Peggy C. Sims of Trinity; one brother, Richard Cartee of Moulton; one sister, Rachel Speegle of Tuscumbia; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Coggins, Joe Cuzzort, Sam Davis, Dale Cartee, Windham Carroll and Max McWhorter.

Memorials may be made to Decatur General Hospital Foundation.

John Wayne England
60, construction worker

MOULTON -- Funeral for John Wayne England, 60, of Decatur was to be today at 2 p.m. at Pinetorch Church with the Rev. Ted Agee and the Rev. Tim Harris officiating.

Burial was to be in Pinetorch Cemetery with Elliott Funeral Home directing.

Mr. England died Saturday, April 1, 2000, in Jackson, Tenn. He was born Feb. 1, 1940, in Lawrence County. He was employed as a construction worker. He was the brother of the late Roger Dale England and Johnny England.

He is survived by two brothers, Danny England and Eddie England, both of Moulton; and six sisters, Joyce Ann Warren of Moulton, Margaret Ann Pullion and Janet Lee Terry, both of Decatur, Wanda Lee Littrell of Gulf Shores, Patsy Sue Benson of Double Springs and Kimberly England Riddle of Athens.

Pallbearers were to be Dockey Borden, Matt Pulliam, Larry Ashbraner, Ronnie Ashbraner, Keith Freeman and Johnny Warren.

Kenneth Johnson
61, car salesman

MOULTON -- Funeral for Kenneth Johnson, 61, of Moulton will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Darryl Wood and the Rev. Jackie Shelton officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in Hartselle. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Johnson died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at Princeton Baptist Medical Center. He was born March 30, 1939, in Morgan County to Houston and Francis Johnson. He was a car salesman and a member of Moulton Baptist Church. He was retired from the National Guard.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Tapscott Johnson; two sons, Mike Johnson of Sheffield and Kevin Johnson of Moulton; three daughters, Kelly Johnson Booth of Decatur, Kathy Johnson Graham and Kim Johnson Zills, both of Moulton; two brothers, Houston Johnson of Owensboro, Ky., and Ted Johnson of Charlotte, N.C.; one sister, Sue Johnson of North Carolina; nine grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Randy Hill, J.D. Hill, Mac Patterson, Joel Letson, Leon Patterson and O' Neal Terry.

Memorials may be made to the Moulton Baptist Church Building Fund.

Lucile Thomas Maynor
84, retired registered nurse

TRUSSVILLE -- Funeral for Lucile Thomas Maynor, 84, of Decatur will be Friday at noon at Jefferson Memorial East Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Mark Tolbert officiating.

Burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Maynor died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. She was born Oct. 16, 1915, to Richard and Sally Brooks Thomas. She retired as a registered nurse at East End Memorial Hospital in Birmingham after 17 years. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Decatur and a former member of Huffman Baptist Church in Birmingham for 40 years.

She is survived by one son, William T. Maynor of Decatur; one daughter, Jane Maynor Willis of Los Alamitos, Calif.; one brother, John Thomas of Harahan, La.; four sisters, Myrtle Sloan and Velma Smoot, both of Lakeland, Fla., Floy Willis of Birmingham and Frances Hannon of Mobile; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Family Life Center Fund of Central Baptist Church of Decatur.

Geneva Pitt McCay

Funeral arrangements for Geneva Pitt McCay, 77, of Athens, who died today, April 5, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital, will be announced by Roselawn Funeral Home.

Irvin 'Dooley' Owens
83, retired factory worker

TRINITY -- Funeral for Irvin "Dooley" Owens, 83, of Moulton will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. Albert Hodges officiating.

Burial will be in Red Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Owens died Monday, April 3, 2000, at home. He was born June 9, 1916, in Lawrence County to Jim and Anna Dement Owens. He was a retired factory worker and a member of First Assembly of God at Town Creek.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Marie Owens.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Ward Holt Shelton

Graveside service for Ward Holt Shelton, 62, of Decatur will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Basham Cemetery with the Rev. Estus L. Hardin officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Shelton died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Dec. 10, 1937, in Alabama to Newton Sebern Shelton and Lettie Shankle Shelton. He was a self-employed homebuilder with Shelton Construction, and a member of the Eagles' lodge and Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Lane Shelton; one son, Steve W. Shelton of Decatur; three brothers, Thomas Shelton and Barney Shelton, both of Decatur, and Ben Shelton of Hartselle; one sister, Velma Shelton-Nesmith of Caddo; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Alan Shelton, Donnie Shelton, Keith Shelton, Rick Lott, Conley Aldredge and Gary Taylor.

Myrtie Grace Singleton Strawn
72, homemaker

TRINITY -- Funeral for Myrtie Grace Singleton Strawn, 72, of Moulton will be Thursday at 4 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Huey officiating.

Burial will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Strawn died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born July 26, 1927, in Morgan County to Authur and Maudie Singleton. She was a homemaker and a member of Enon Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Sam Sterling Strawn; two daughters, June McKay of Trinity and Judy Riffel of Moulton; two sisters, Edna Wallace of Trinity and Nancy Bates of Tennessee; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chris McKay, Carr McKay, Jay Riffel, Ricky Cross, Nathan Newton, Taylor Cross, Jeremy Ewert and Todd Cross.
