BAINBRIDGE, Ga. - Graveside service for Margaret Taylor Markham, 71, of Attapulgus, Ga., was March 24 at Attapulgus United Methodist Church with Cox Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Markham died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, in Tallahassee, Fla. She was a native of Quincy, Fla. She was a homemaker and a member of Attapulgus United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Smith-Taylor Circle.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth "Ken" Morgan Markham, formerly of Decatur; one son, Kenneth Morgan Markham of Quincy, Fla.; one daughter, Virginia "Jena" Markham Shelton of Snellville, Ga.; two brothers Dr. W.F. Taylor of Quincy and Dr. Robert F. Taylor of Lakeland, Fla.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Attapulgus United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 26, Attapulgus, GA 31715.

MOULTON - Funeral for Isabel Marie McDonald, 70, of Moulton will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Carrol Hall officiating.

Burial will be in Center Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. McDonald died Friday, April 7, 2000, at her home. She was born Sept. 12, 1929, in Michigan. She was a homemaker. She was the mother of the late Steven Harrington and John Harrington Jr. and the sister of the late Fredrick Cubitt, Henry Cubitt, Anna Smaltz, Neta Mathews and Mary Cheek.

She is survived by her husband, Jimmie McDonald; one son, Bruce McDonald of Double Springs; three daughters, Bonnie Williams and Lisa Kilpatrick, both of Moulton, and Angela Melson of Town Creek; one brother, Richard Cubitt of Michigan; one sister, Florence Gates of Plainwell, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Albert Bell, Tim Bell, James Bell, Carl McDonald, Kevin McDonald and Keith Melson.

Phillip R. Melson

Funeral for Phillip Russell Melson, 41, of Signal Mountain, Tenn., will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with Mike Nix and Greg Nance officiating.

Burial will be in Aldridge Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Melson died Friday, April 7, 2000, in Tennessee. He was born Jan. 12, 1959, in Decatur. He was a salesman and a member of Signal Mountain Church of Christ.

He is survived by one son, Will Melson of Hamilton; one daughter, Jessica Melson of Hamilton; his parents, Billy R. and Ann Smith Melson of Hartselle; one sister, Phyllis Melson Bradford of Hartselle; and his grandmother; Faye Smith of Decatur.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Smith, Maurice Sparkman, Dale Whitaker, Brad Bradford, Mark Yeager and Stanley Sparkman.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley.

Hugh Donald Mitchell
70, retired educator

ARDMORE - Funeral for Hugh Donald Mitchell, 70, of Ardmore will be today at 3 p.m. at Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home with Paul Clutz, Jason Moore and Harold Whitt officiating.

Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery.

Mr. Mitchell died Friday, April 7, 2000, at his home. He was born Jan. 31, 1930, in Limestone County. He was a retired educator for Madison County Schools, where he worked for 32 years, a charter member and deacon at Community Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the Gatlin Cemetery Board. He was the brother of the late Bobby Joe Mitchell.

He is survived by his wife, Claudette Whitt Mitchell; two sons, Stanley Mitchell and Mike Mitchell, both of Ardmore; two daughters, Sheila Mitchell and Thea Mitchell, both of Ardmore; two brothers, Jack Mitchell of Cornersville, Tenn., and Gary Mitchell of Guntersville; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Larry Whitt, Lynn Whitt, Stewart Mitchell, Kevin Mitchell, Jeremy Mitchell and Neal Elkin.

Beatrice Louise Petty
55, homemaker

Funeral for Beatrice Louise Petty, 55, of Decatur will be today at 2 p.m. at David Temple Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Hosea Garrett officiating and Reynolds Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Sterrs Cemetery. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Petty died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born April 10, 1944, in Belle Mina to J.W. Pulley and Mary Doc Foster . She was a homemaker and a member of David Temple Primitive Baptist Church. She was the mother of the late Kenneth Lynn Petty.

She is survived by four sons, Leon Petty Jr. and Jimmy Petty, both of Decatur, James Petty of Oceanside, Calif., and Joel Taylor of Elmore County; two daughters, Vickie Wallace and Mary Dale, both of Decatur; two brothers, Alversia Minor and Charles Bonner, both of Decatur; and 23 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be the Rev. Cary Orr, Marcus Jones, Chris Wallace, Nick Caudle, Dennis Darvey, Tyrone Elliott and Christopher Hammond.

Flower girls will be Lela Baker, Lula Harris, Donna Tucker, Sherry Marrow, Shanna Gray, Tracy Doss and Tasha Doss.

Opal Speer

CENTRE - Funeral for Opal Speer, 71, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Perry Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Phillip Sessions officiating.

Burial will be in Unity Cemetery in Cherokee County. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at Roselawn Funeral Home and Monday night from 6 to 9 at Perry Funeral Home.

Mrs. Speer died Saturday, April 8, 2000, in Decatur. She was born March 20, 1929, in Cherokee County to Albert and Viola Holcomb Bradley. She was a homemaker and the widow of Robert Speer.

She is survived by two sons, Jerry Wayne Reynolds of Compton, Ark., and Johnny M. Reynolds of Summerville, Ga.; one daughter, Judy Loretta Speer of Decatur; one stepdaughter, Barbara Bentley of Gaysville; three sisters, Cora Garmany of Decatur, Faye Moon of Centre and Flora Stancil of Summerville; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Lillian Mae Spencer

ATHENS - Funeral for Lillian Mae Spencer, 77, of Lester will be today at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with the Rev. Pat Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Spencer died Friday, April 7, 2000, at Athens Convalescent Center. She was born April 30, 1922, in Limestone County. She was a homemaker, a member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church and the widow of Joseph W. Spencer.

She is survived by four sons, William Spencer of Lester, Glen Spencer of Hartselle, Joe Spencer of Homestead, Fla., and Clayton Spencer of Billingsley; two daughters, Nancy Carol Pressnell of Decatur and Martha Nelson of Athens; one sister, Ina Ruth Carruth of Greer, S.C.; and 15 grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Mrs. Swanner died Friday, April 7, 2000, at her home. She was born Jan. 29, 1911, in Limestone County, where she was a lifelong resident. She was a homemaker and a member of Tanner United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Joel J. Swanner.

She is survived by one son, Billy J. Swanner of Athens; one daughter, Betty Swanner Hardage of Athens; one brother, Eddie Pressnell of Athens; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Tommie Leo 'Pee Wee' Wilson

ATHENS - Funeral for Tommie Leo "Pee Wee" Wilson, 64, of Athens will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Randy Johnson officiating.

Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Wilson died Saturday, April 8, 2000, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born March 20, 1936, in Madison County to Lee and Mary Wilson. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a retiree of Limestone Farmers Cooperation, where he worked for 43 years. He was the widower of Mildred Smith Wilson and the brother of the late Buddy Wilson.

He is survived by three brothers, Herman Andrews of Wetumpka, David Wilson of Athens and Mike Wilson of Birmingham; and four sisters, Pat Pentecost of Decatur, Elsie Monarrez of Athens, Mary Ann Chaney of Russellville and Patricia Pearson of Cullman.

Deacons at Calvary Baptist Church will be pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.

Nadene Denton

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Nadene Denton, 72, of Vinemont will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Corinth West United Methodist Church with the Rev. Vernon Willis and the Rev. Bill Monk officiating.

Mrs. Denton died Sunday, April 9, 2000, at The University of Alabama Hospital at Birmingham. She was born Sept. 21, 1927, in Lawrence County to Marty and Mable Clardy Looney. She was a homemaker. She was the widow of Herbert "Mutt" Denton.

She is survived by two daughters, Pat Quisenberry and Teresa Callan, both of Vinemont; one brother, L.V. Looney of Vinemont; two sisters, Inez Meeks of Tavares, Fla., and Ida Mae McDougle of Louisville, Ky.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Dan Draper
81, retired farmer/contactor

Funeral for Dan Draper, 81, of Somerville will be Wednesday at noon at Curry's Chapel with the Rev. Mary Marshall officiating.

Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery with Sharpley Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Draper died Friday, April 7, 2000, at South Morgan Healthcare. He was born Oct. 19, 1918, in Morgan County, to Clifton and Emma Draper. He was a retired farmer and contractor. He was the brother of the late Hubert Draper, Columbus Draper, Rueben Draper, Dewitt Draper, L.C. Draper, Omma Lee Draper, Beatrice Jennings and Dora Black.

He is survived by one daughter, Merlene Chapman of Decatur; and two grandchildren.

Judith C. Dunlap
51, investment company vice president

PASADENA, Calif. -- Memorial service for Judith C. Dunlap, 51, of Pasadena will be Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church with the Rev. Scott Richardson officiating.

Ms. Dunlap died Saturday, April 8, 2000, at the University of California Medical Center in Los Angeles. She was born April 1, 1949, in Lansing, Mich. She moved to Decatur with her family in 1956. She was a 1967 graduate of Decatur High School and a 1971 graduate of The University of Alabama. She worked for several investment companies in both New York and Los Angeles. She was the vice president of Fixed Income Marketing, Prudential Securities Incorporated, Los Angeles.

She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles D. Dunlap of Decatur; one brother, David M. Dunlap of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Liz Brogdon and Mary Anne Dunlap, both of Nashville; and her grandmother, Mrs. Garrett Taylor of Martin, Tenn.

Memorials may be made to the Building Fund at Central United Methodist Church in Decatur or to Hospice of The Valley.

Patricia Rae Hartman

ATHENS -- Patricia Rae Hartman, 61, of Athens died Monday, April 10, 2000, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.

Mrs. Hartman was born April 15, 1938, in Jackson County, Mich. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Hartman; one son, Joseph Hartman of Athens; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
