HARTSELLE -- Funeral for P.D. Michael, 66, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony Willis officiating.

Burial will be in New Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Michael died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at his home. He was born Jan. 28, 1934, in Franklin County to Percy and Fannie M. Hyde Michael. He was a retired construction worker.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy B. Michael; two sons, Christopher Michael of Kissimmee, Fla., and Lee Tucker Jr. of New Market; three daughters, Lori Carson of Columbus, Ga., Rhonda Biazar of Weston, Fla., and Penny Schrimsher of Decatur; one brother, A.B. Hyde of Spruce Head, Maine; one sister, Bernice Smith of Phil Campbell; and 12 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Gary Voohees, Larry Williams, Jimmy Ratliff, Robert Carson, Ashley McIntyre and Rusty McIntyre.

Virginia Scogin Moland
78, retired shipper/packer

MOULTON -- Funeral for Virginia Scogin Moland, 78, of Town Creek will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Wakefield officiating.

Burial will be in Providence Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Moland died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at her residence. She was born Sept. 22, 1921, in Lawrence County to Allison and Bessie Scogin. She was retired from Anchor Hocking Glass Co., Winchester, Ind., as a shipper/packer after 18 years. She lived in Indiana for 30 years and returned with her family to Town Creek after her retirement. She was the sister of the late, A.T. "Jr." Scogin and William H. Scogin.

Mrs. Moland is survived by her husband, Benjamin Moland of Town Creek; two sons, Grant Moland of Winchester, Ind., and James Moland of Ashland, Va.; three daughters, Pat Suitts of Union City, Ind., Linda Bartele of Whittier, Calif., and Betty McCord of Winchester, Ind.; three brothers, Ralph Scogin of Pensacola, Fla., Bob Scogin of Chicago and Lynn Scogin of Mississippi; one sister, Francis Butler of Town Creek; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Stanley Watkins, Jeff Butler, James Scogin, Rick Scogin, Rodney Scogin and Grant Scogin.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Valley or any local hospice chapter.

Alan Murray
28, Rehan employee

Funeral for Alan Murray, 28, of Cullman will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwayne McDuff officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Murray died Saturday, April 15, 2000, in Cullman. He was born March 5, 1972, in Cullman. He attended Austin High School and was employed by Rehan.

He is survived by his wife, Robin Clark Murray; one son, William Timothy Murray of Decatur; mother, Donna Dietz of Decatur; stepfather, Danny Dietz of Decatur; one brother, Robert Timothy Murray; and grandfather, Rowland Ross Chambers of Mobile.

Pallbearers will be Jason Putman, Brandon Blaich, Tommy James, James Chambers, Joe Chambers and Keith H. Clark Jr.

Michaela Roxzan Preston

Funeral arrangements for Michaela Roxzan Preston, 1, of Decatur, who died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at her home, will be announced by Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Robert Sheats Summerford
78, retired Methodist minister

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Robert Sheats Summerford, 78, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church in Decatur with the Rev. Charles Boling and the Rev. Willis Vickery officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 9 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Mr. Summerford died Saturday, April 15, 2000, at his home. He was born Feb. 7, 1922, in Morgan County to Newtie Edward and Virginia Clementine Patterson Summerford. He was a retired United Methodist minister and had served in the North Alabama Conference for 30 years. He served in World War II as an infantry staff sergeant in the Pacific.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Johnson Summerford of Falkville; one son, George Alan Summerford of Littleton, N.C.; one daughter, Janet Summerford Baker of Muscle Shoals; four sisters, Pernie S. Morris and Doris S. Herring, both of Massey, Barbara S. Jolly of Steele, and Virginia S. Duncan of Boyce, La.; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Larry Anders, Bob Durand, Ferrell Anders, Barry Jolly, Robbie Duncan and Mike Duncan.

Julia W. Adams
95, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Julia W. Adams, 95, of Athens will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with James Bridges and J.T. Word officiating.

Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Adams died Monday, April 17, 2000, at home. She was born Dec. 13, 1904, in Limestone County to John Franklin and Sally Jackson Williams. She was a homemaker and a member of O'Neal Church of Christ. She was the mother of the late Mastine Williams.

She is survived by three sons, Melvis Adams and Charlie Franklin Adams, both of Athens, and James Edward Adams of Clark Lake, Mich.; three daughters, Naydean Long of Anderson and Milinea Wineinger and Wanda Kirk, both of Athens; one brother, Medford Williams of Alva, Fla.; two sisters, Lerlene McConnell of Anderson and Brina Nelson of Five Points, Tenn.; 27 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Merle Adams Brooks

ATHENS -- Funeral for Merle Adams Brooks, 75, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Bottoms Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Brooks died Monday, April 17, 2000, in Decatur. She was born July 27, 1924, in Limestone County.

She is survived by two sons, William Adams and Dwayne Adams, both of Athens; three daughters, Flora Kidd of Decatur, Brenda Beddingfield of Elkmont and Lavon Bailey of Athens; two brothers, Robert Taylor and Harlon Taylor, both of Athens; two sisters, Josie Wheatley of Rockford, Ill., and Rosie Adams of Athens; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Irene Hartselle
80, retired nurse

HARTSELLE -- Graveside service for Irene Hartselle, 80, of Mobile, formerly of Hartselle, will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Hartselle City Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hartselle died Monday, April 17, 2000, at Cogburn Nursing Center Mitdown in Mobile. She was born April 3, 1920, in Morgan County to Carrie Elizabeth Wardlow and Dallas McMillian Hightower. She was a retired nurse.

Other arrangements will be announced by the funeral home.

Susie Blizard Hill
86, homemaker

Funeral for Susie Blizard Hill, 86, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with Irvin Himmell and Gary Patton officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hill died today, April 18, 2000, at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Dec. 8, 1913, to Floyd and Inez Odell Blizard. She was a homemaker and a member of Somerville Road Church of Christ. She was the widow of Felton Hill, the mother of the late Betty Hill and the sister of the late Hazel Yancy.

Pallbearers will be Jim Ray, Bobby Jackson, Don Laney, Jimmy Nesmith, Ralph Sheats and Tim Taylor.

Esther Laverne Hughes
67, homemaker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Esther Laverne Hughes, 67, of Somerville will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Tex Grey officiating.

Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hughes died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at her daughter's home in Danville. She was born Oct. 12, 1932, in Morgan County to Elizabeth Holt and Clarence Alexander McCullough. She was a homemaker and a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

She is survived by four sons, Clinton Hughes and Keith Hughes, both of Somerville, Gordon Hughes and Jeff Hughes, both of Decatur; four daughters, Donna Brooker and Cynthia Hill, both of Danville, Vivian Owens of Hartselle and Nancy Nicholas of Somerville; two brothers, John Collins McCullough of Florida and Edward McCullough of Mobile; two sisters, Evelyn Shadden of Hartselle and Ida Hughes of Mobile; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chris Girodo, Dale Hughes, Christopher Lindsey, Joshua Moebes, Jeff Morrow and Jonathan Vinzant.

Robert Hurst
75, farmer

MOULTON -- Funeral for Robert Hurst, 75, of Town Creek was to be today at 11 a.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with Sam Wallace officiating.

Burial was to be in Ferguson Cemetery.

Mr. Hurst died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Aug. 5, 1924, in Lawrence County to William Robert Hurst and Annie Harrison Hurst. He was a farmer, a member of Okolona Baptist Church in Hatton and a veteran of World War II, where he served in Japan and the Philippines for two years. He was the brother of the late Clifton W. Hurst and Helen Ruth Hurst.

He is survived by one brother, George Gunter Hurst of Town Creek.

Roosevelt Malone
53, assembly line worker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Roosevelt Malone, 53, of Athens will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at New Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Lockett Sr. officiating.

Burial will be in Thatch-Mann Cemetery with Peoples Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Malone died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at home. He was born Aug. 17, 1946, in Limestone County to Willie and Effie Malone. He assembled fireplaces at Martin Industries of Athens for 14 years and was a member of New Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by two sons, Marcus Sledge of Atlanta and Barry Sledge of Athens; one daughter, Bridgette Hunter of Athens; three brothers, Melvin Malone and Charlie James Malone, both of Athens, and Eddie Malone of Tanner; five sisters, Ollie Mae Orr, Sarah Baker, Willie D. Alexander and Onell Malone, all of Athens, and Elizabeth Whitfield of Louisville, Ky.; and three grandchildren.

Gladys Ready Moore TRINITY -- Funeral arrangements for Gladys Ready Moore, 78, of Decatur, who died Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at her home, will be announced by Parkway Funeral Home.

Lyndon H. Morris

TRINITY -- Funeral arrangements for Lyndon H. Morris, 68, of Dalton, Ga., who died Monday, April 17, 2000, will be announced by Parkway Funeral Home.

Michaela Roxzan Preston

Funeral for Michaela Roxzan Preston, 1, of Decatur will be at Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Ridout's-Brown Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Buddy Mitchell officiating.

Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Michaela died Saturday, April 15, 2000, in Decatur. She was born Oct. 3, 1998, in Opelika to Gregory and Angela Preston.

She is survived by her parents; one half sister, Morgan Preston of Phenix City; and her grandparents, Tony and Roxzan Goodner of Decatur, Sharon Lusardi of Gurley and Edmund Preston of Lincroft, N.J.
