88, Great Lakes Steel Mill retiree

HUNTSVILLE -- Funeral for Almus Alton Fletcher, 88, of Lacey's Spring will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Twickenham Funeral Home South with the Rev. Eldridge Crisco and the Rev. Alford Phillips officiating.

Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Fletcher died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at his home. He was born March 8, 1912, in Marshall County. He was retired from Great Lakes Steel Mill in Michigan and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Lacey's Spring. During the past 55 years, he has served as a deacon, song leader and Sunday school teacher at several churches. He was the father of the late Shirley Fletcher.

He is survived by his wife, Novel Fletcher; three daughters, Martha Pritchett of Memphis, Betty Constant of Grosse Isle, Mich., and Juanita Batt of Woodville; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Morgan County or Hospice of Madison County.

Barbara Jane Frith
36, barber

Funeral for Barbara Jane Frith, 36, of Decatur will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Todd Evans officiating.

Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Frith died Friday, April 28, 2000, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born Dec. 20, 1963, in Arizona to Bob and Barbara Blackwell. She was a barber at Self's Barber Shop. She was a 1982 graduate of Danville High School and a 1992 graduate of Calhoun Community College. She was the sister of the late Michael Blackwell.

She is survived by her husband, George Frith; one son, Andrew Frith of Decatur; one daughter, Brandi Frith of Decatur; her mother and stepfather, Barbara and Van Eaton of Decatur; one brother, Harley Blackwell of Decatur; and two sisters, Susan Sartin of Hartselle and Carol Merritt of Cantonment, Fla.

Pallbearers will be Morgan Frith, Ty Kelso, Kevin Cole, Jimmy Martin, Lyn Owens and Chris Aldridge.

Marjorie Willene Hensley
70, retired schoolbus driver

TRINITY -- Funeral for Marjorie Willene Hensley, 70, of Danville will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Enon Baptist Church with Johnny Huey and C.G. Reding officiating.

Burial will be in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery with Parkway Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hensley died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born April 3, 1930, in Oakville to Biddie and Muriel Johnson. She was a member of Enon Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. She was a bus driver for Speake School for 24 years before her retirement. She enjoyed doing ceramics, wallpapering and painting. She was the sister of the late Wendell Johnson, Ronnie "Pete" Johnson and John Lee Johnson.

She is survived by her husband, F.D. Hensley; one daughter, Martha Hensley of Danville; her mother of Danville; three brothers, Don Johnson, Jimmy Johnson and Kenny Johnson, all of Danville; and eight sisters, Opal Ferguson of Hartselle, Margaret Sanderson, Sandra Jackson and Johnnie Sharon Appleton, all of Danville, Patsy Blaxton and Kathy Brown, both of Moulton, Peggy McCullough of Decatur and Andrea Orr of Tucson, Ariz.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Johnson, Brian Bullard, Randy Hensley, Virgil Vest, Jason Blaxton and Earl Vest.

J.B. Johnson
62, retired school custodian

ATHENS -- Funeral for J.B. Johnson, 62, of Athens will be today at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Johnson died Tuesday, April 25, 2000, at his home. He was born Jan. 24, 1938, in Vinemont. He was a retired school custodian.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Pettus Johnson; one son, Alex J. Johnson of California; two daughters, Debbie Lela Johnson of California and Ginger Ann Colwell of Hendersonville, N.C.; two brothers, John Johnson and Amos Carter, both of Athens; three sisters, Alice Rogers, Mable Griffin and Mary Tilson, all of Athens; and three grandchildren.

Travis Kitchens

MOULTON -- Funeral arrangements for Travis Kitchens, 77, of Hartselle, who died Friday, April 28, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital, will be announced by Elliott Funeral Home.

James Franklin Lewter
78, retired grocery store operator

ATHENS -- Funeral for James Franklin Lewter, 78, of Athens will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Bryan McIntyre officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Lewter died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born Aug. 11, 1921, in Limestone County. He was a retired grocery store operator and a member of Riddle's Chapel United Methodist Church.

He is survived by two stepsons, James Jackson of Huntsville and Horace Jackson of Moulton; four stepdaughters, Faye Dodd of Athens, Evelyn Davis of Trinity, Pat Andrews of Elkmont and Brenda Miller of Florence; three brothers, Tommy Lewter of Ardmore, Kenneth Lewter and Jerry Lewter, both of Athens; three sisters, Evelyn Burns of Athens, Pearl Cross of Fayetteville, Tenn., and Ida Mae Hargraves of Ardmore, Tenn.; and 10 step-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be David Andrews, Dave Terry, Jerry Hammons, Paul Black, Jerry George and Brad Zirbel.

Sarah Elizabeth Moore

ATHENS -- Funeral arrangements for Sarah Elizabeth Moore, 70, of Athens, who died Friday, April 28, 2000, at Hillside Hospital in Pulaski, Tenn., will be announced by McConnell Funeral Home.

Kyle Terry
50, maintenance worker

MOULTON -- Funeral for Kyle Terry, 50, of Moulton will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Lavanul Sherrill officiating.

Burial will be in Owens Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Terry died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. He was born Oct. 9, 1949, in Lawrence County to Uyless and Lurdean Terry. He was a maintenance worker at the University of North Alabama and a member of Prayer Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church.

He is survived by his wife, Debra Terry; two sons, Shayne Terry of California and Blake Terry of Moulton; two daughters, Nancy King of Lexington and Kyla Terry of California; five brothers, Billy Terry of Leighton, Quindal Terry of Decatur, Bradley Terry of Trinity, Bryan Terry and Barry Terry, both of Town Creek; three sisters, Faye Nell Jones of Courtland, Belinda Early of Hatton and Donna Ward of Florida; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Slick Jones, Phillip Terry, Michael Terry, Shawn Holmes, Tyron Ward and Trent Tarry.

Debbie Anita Brown
44, Copeland Corp. employee

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Debbie Anita Brown, 44, of Hartselle was to be today at 10 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home.

Mrs. Brown died Friday, April 28, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Nov. 15, 1955, in Griffin, Ga., to Opal and J.D. Duncan. She worked at Copeland Corp. She was the mother of the late Philip Clayton Brown and the sister of the late Doug Duncan.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Brown; three sons, Charles Wolf Brown of Flint, Mich., Roy Brown and James Brown, both of Hartselle; one daughter, Judy DeAnne Luker of Falkville; her mother, Opal Lawrence Duncan Parris of Falkville; three brothers, Billy Duncan of Griffin, Gene Duncan of Hartselle and Frankie Duncan of Falkville; two sisters, Gail Dougherty and Judy Harmes, both of Decatur; and one grandchild.

Eula Sanders Campbell
91, homemaker

Graveside service for Eula Sanders Campbell, 91, of Decatur will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Decatur City Cemetery with the Rev. W.K. Stephenson officiating and Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Campbell died Friday, April 28, 2000, at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation. She was born Sept. 7, 1908, in Marshall County. She was a homemaker, a member of First Baptist Church of Decatur and a volunteer at Decatur General Hospital.

She is survived by one son, Clifford Campbell of Decatur; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Gary Campbell, Greg Campbell, Ricky Sanders, Merv Markley, Ronnie Reeder and Frank Little.

Travis Kitchens
77, Ford Motor Co. retiree

TRINITY -- Funeral for Travis Kitchens, 77, of Hartselle will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with Wiley Kitchens officiating.

Burial will be in Rock Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Kitchens died Friday, April 28, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born June 2, 1922, in Lawrence County to Henry C. and Bonnie Kitchens. He was a veteran of World War II and fought in the Normandy invasion. He was a Baptist and retired from Ford Motor Co.

He is survived by his wife, June Kitchens; one son, James "Pete" Kitchens of Cynthiana, Ky.; one daughter, Robin Guerrero of Atlanta; five brothers, Frank Kitchens of Decatur, Jessie Kitchens of Trinity, Edwin Kitchens of Moulton, Wiley Kitchens of Cullman and Willard Kitchens of Prattville; one sister, Ozelle Kitchens Cryer of Somerville; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Herron, Alex Guerrero, Daniel Kitchens, David Stisher, Roy Lee Kitchens, Dewayne Kitchens, Ronnie Herron and Doyle Stisher.

Herman Tilden Moore Sr.
75, World War II veteran

Graveside service for Herman Tilden Moore Sr., 75, of Decatur will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with the Rev. Ronnie Owens officiating and Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 7 at the funeral home.

Mr. Moore died Saturday, April 29, 2000, at his home. He was born July 8, 1924, in Limestone County to Franklin Tilden Moore and Flossie Davis Moore. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Central Baptist Church. He was the father of the late Renee Wilson.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel Sparkman Moore; three sons, Herman T. Moore Jr., Wade Moore and Greg Moore, all of Decatur; two sisters, Louise Sammons of New Market and Martha Cammon of Decatur; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Grace Gray Morris
89, grocery store owner

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Grace Gray Morris, 89, of Danville was to be today at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Willie Delashaw, the Rev. Wayne Penn and the Rev. Dan Compton officiating.

Burial was to be in Friendship Cemetery.

Mrs. Morris died Friday, April 28, 2000, at her home. She was born Jan. 26, 1911, in Morgan County to Katie and Walter Solomon Gray. She was a homemaker, a member of Friendship Baptist Church and a retired grocery store owner. She was the widow of Richard H. Morris and the sister of the late Coloman Gray, Gertrude G. Parker, Ruth G. Hogan and Azilee G. Owens.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Morris Willingham of Cullman and Nellene Morris Fitzgerald of Danville; three sisters, Opal Gray of Danville, Inez Holladay Owens of Falkville and Lavern Gray Holladay of Indianapolis; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Micky Smith

Funeral arrangements for Micky Smith, 40, of Decatur, who died Saturday, April 29, 2000, at Parkway Medical Center, will be announced by Shelton Funeral Home.

Frank Wheeler
67, retired U.S. Air Force staff sergeant

Funeral for Frank Wheeler, 67, of Decatur will be Wednesday at noon at Garner Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. Richard A. McDuffie officiating.

Burial will be in Sterrs Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 to 7 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Wheeler died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Parkway Medical Center. He was born July 22, 1932, in Morgan County to Will and Louise Lyle Wheeler. He was a member of Garner Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, where he served as a class leader and a member of the Trustee Board. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and served in the Air Force as a staff sergeant until he retired in 1965.

He is survived by one son, Rodney Wheeler of Denver; three sisters, Elizabeth Toliver of Chattanooga, Dorothy King of Cleveland, Ohio, and Virgie Byrd of Decatur; and one grandchild.

Nephews will be pallbearers.
