MOULTON -- Funeral for Dessie Letson, 92, of Hillsboro will be Sunday at 4 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. B.L. Hale and the Rev. Chris Parker officiating.

Burial will be in Jones Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Letson died Friday, May 5, 2000, at her home. She was born Sept. 26, 1907, in Lawrence County to Gid and Maggie Terry. She was a homemaker and a member of Mountain Home Baptist Church. She was the widow of Tom Letson and mother of the late Benard Letson.

She is survived by two sons, Glyn Letson and Corlyn Letson, both of Moulton; three daughters, Madgie Flannigan of Killen, Jannie Hale of Hillsboro and Mary Letson of Moulton; four brothers, Enoch Terry of Vinemont, Granville Terry and Marshall Terry, both of Moulton, and Jackie Terry of Lafayette, Ind.; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Lisa McKinney
19, Auburn student

Funeral for Lisa McKinney, 19, of Decatur will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Barnes and the Rev. David Goolsby officiating.

Burial will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Miss McKinney died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at USC University Hospital in Los Angeles. She was born Sept. 8, 1980, in Morgan County to Bruce Edward and Anita Wildsmith McKinney. She was a member of Ninth Street United Methodist Church, a 1998 graduate of Austin High School and a sophomore at Auburn University. She was the granddaughter of the late Virgil Wildsmith.

She is survived by her parents of Decatur; one sister, Amy McKinney of Decatur; and her grandparents, Edward and Julia McKinney and Dorfa Wildsmith, all of Birmingham.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Nelson, McKay Lyvers, Michael Burleson, Bart Kirkham, Brad Bankester and Clark Grissom.

Memorials may be made to the Auburn Wesley Foundation, P.O. Box 3488, Auburn, AL 36831-3488.

Dessie Taylor NeSmith
84, retired sales clerk

Funeral for Dessie Taylor NeSmith, 84, of Hanceville, formerly of Decatur, will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. G. Douglas Ripley and the Rev. A. Ray Lee officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. NeSmith died Friday, May 5, 2000, at Woodland Community Hospital in Cullman. She was born Oct. 25, 1915, in Lawrence County to Pink and Easter Louis Smith. She was a retired retail sales clerk.

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Maner of Hanceville; one stepson, Malcolm NeSmith of Huntsville; one stepdaughter, Jeanie Elders of Memphis; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Charles Edward Richard
61, retired TVA painter

MOULTON -- Funeral for Charles Edward Richard, 61, of Town Creek will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Pullen officiating.

Burial will be in Providence Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Richard died Friday, May 5, 2000, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. He was born March 26, 1939, in Lawrence County to Woodrow and Lorene Richard. He was a member of Okolona Baptist Church and a retired painter with Tennessee Valley Authority.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Richard; one son, Charles Wayne Richard of Hatton; four daughters, Angie Kelly of Mount Hope, Karen Brooks of Town Creek, Nancy Grissom of Muscle Shoals and Amanda Richard of Hatton; two brothers, Harold Richard and Sammy Richard, both of Moulton; two sisters, Doris Patterson of Moulton and Audrey Collins of Trinity; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Lewis Richard, James Puckett, Mark Richard, Larry Bradford, Jeff Flannagan and Ricky Zills.

Arthur Leo Veal
74, retired sheet-metal worker

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Arthur Leo Veal, 74, of Cullman will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Etha Baptist Church with the Rev. Lester Veal officiating.

Burial will be in Etha Baptist Cemetery with Williams-McCracken Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Veal died Thursday, May 4, 2000, at his home. He was born June 14, 1925, in Cullman County to Thomas Benjamin and Pearlie Armittia Edmonson Veal. He was a retired sheet-metal worker at Redstone Arsenal.

He is survived by his wife, Angie Childers Veal; two sons, Larry Joe Veal of Decatur and Jerry Douglas Veal of Gardendale; one daughter, Shelia Hooper of Arab; two brothers, L.D. Veal of Cullman and Thomas Nello Veal of Birmingham; two sisters, Helen Graham and Dorothy Brown, both of Cullman; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Evelyn Atkinson Woodis
97, homemaker

HUNTSVILLE -- Graveside service for Evelyn Atkinson Woodis, 97, of Huntsville will be today at 2 p.m. at Huntsville Memory Gardens with the Rev. Clarence Davis officiating and Laughlin Service Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Woodis died Thursday, May 4, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Nov. 4, 1902, in Valhermoso Springs to Owen D. and Clara Hardage Atkinson. She was a homemaker and a member of Madison United Methodist Church for 75 years. She was the widow of Shelby Woodis.

She is survived by one daughter, Clara McDonald of Huntsville; one brother, Owen B. Atkinson of Marietta, Ga.; and one sister, Marie Brown of Decatur.

Rowena Marlow Beck
86, evangelist

MOULTON -- Funeral for Rowena Marlow Beck, 86, of Russellville was Saturday at 11 a.m. at Elliott Funeral Home.

Burial was in Moulton Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Beck died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at Russellville Hospital. She was born Feb. 23, 1914, in Tuscaloosa to Roscoe and Margaret Patrick Marlow. She was a licensed evangelist with the Church of God of Prophecy. She and her late husband, the Rev. Grover C. Beck, ministered throughout Alabama for most of their lives. She was the mother of the late Billy R. Beck.

She is survived by one son, Arless Beck of St. Louis; four daughters, Sue Mann of Muscle Shoals, Nell Bruton of Mount Hope, Barbara Winter of Houston and Wanda Kitchens of Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother, Harvey Marlow of Northport; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Mike Mann, Tommy Bruton, Rocky Beck, Tab Beck, Brian Collins, Steve Collins and Jon Mark Collins.

Members of the Sheffield Church of God of Prophecy and staff of Burns Nursing Home were honorary pallbearers.

Pauline Morgan
85, homemaker

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Pauline Morgan, 85, of Eva will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Etha Baptist Church with the Rev. Odom Hawkins officiating.

Burial will be in Etha Baptist Church Cemetery with Cullman Heritage Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Morgan died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at her home. She was born Jan. 15, 1915, in Cullman County to Silas and Mary Elizabeth Hall Roberts. She was a homemaker. She was the widow of Oran Morgan and the mother of the late Jack Morgan, Barry Morgan and Mary Elizabeth Morgan.

She is survived by five sons, V.P. Morgan of Cullman, Clyde Morgan of Eva, Dewayne Morgan of Hayden, Dick Morgan of Decatur and Ronnie Morgan of Scottsboro; three daughters, Glenda Reese Pack of Birmingham, Gennett McKay of Calera and Tina McElroy of Baileyton; one brother, Bud Roberts of Cullman; two sisters, Irene Holloway of Hartselle and Vivian Cornett of Lacey's Springs; 21 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Billy O. Riddle Jr.

ATHENS -- Funeral arrangements for Billy O. Riddle Jr., 24, of Toney, who died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital, will be announced by Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.

Penny Parker Rutherford
38, registered nurse

Funeral for Penny Parker Rutherford, 38, of Decatur will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Tandy Vaughn officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Rutherford died Friday, May 5, 2000, at her home. She was born May 21, 1961, in Morgan County to Jeriel and Jayne Parker. She was a 1979 graduate of Austin High School and a registered nurse.

She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Rutherford; two sons, Parker Smith and Todd Smith, both of Decatur; her parents of Decatur; one brother, Jerry Parker of Decatur; one sister, Jenny Parker of Decatur; and her grandmother, Georgia Parker of Cullman.

Pallbearers will be Dan Sparkman, Steve Sparkman, Rod Parker, Anthony Parker, Rex Smith and Ron Crow.

Charles Watterson

DELTONA, Fla. -- Memorial service for Charles Watterson, 76, of Deltona will be at the Lutheran church in Deltona at a date and time to be announced.

Mr. Watterson died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford, Fla.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Watterson of Deltona; one son, Ron Watterson of Deltona; one brother, Billy Watterson of Decatur; and four grandchildren.

William David 'Bill' Alldredge
84, retired woodworker
Funeral for William David "Bill" Alldredge, 84, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Lewis and the Rev. Duane Maas officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

A graveside service will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East Cemetery in Birmingham at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Norman Schultz officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home and the body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Alldredge died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born April 23, 1916, in Cullman. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and a retired self-employed woodworker.

He is survived by his wife, Clara Mae Alldredge; two sons, William David Alldredge Jr. of Dallas, Texas, and Jerry Joe Alldredge of Decatur; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Doris Braswell
66, homemaker

ADDISON -- Funeral for Doris Larue Evans Braswell, 66, of Vinemont, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Addison with the Rev. Brian Hawkins officiating.

Burial will be in Corinth Northwest Cemetery in Vinemont. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Braswell died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at Brookwood Medical Center. She was born June 23, 1933, to Thomas and Grace Evans. She was the sister of the late Laverne Wilma Powell. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Noah T. Braswell; two daughters, Dorinda Dale Shedd of Vinemont, and Connie Taft Murphy of Hartselle; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
