Robert L. Griffith

HARTSELLE -- Graveside service for Robert L. Griffith, 78, of Cullman will be Tuesday at Hartselle City Cemetery at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Hal Noble and the Rev. David Herndon officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Griffith died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at Summerford Nursing Home. He was born Feb. 7, 1922, in Decatur to Lester W. and Maggie Vest Griffith. He was a retired Civil Service employee and a veteran of World War II. He served in the South Pacific with the U.S. Navy Seabees. He was the widower of Hellen Glynn Grisham Griffith.

He is survived by three sons, Dennis Griffith of Decatur, Warren Griffith of Fayette and Duke Griffith of Cullman; one daughter, Gail Griffith of Falkville; 31 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be George Griffith, Henry Griffith, Leroy Griffith, Leslie Griffith, Charles Griffith and Donald Sparks.

Randal Keith Grizzard
43, Sonoco employee

Memorial service for Randal Keith Grizzard, 43, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ted Agee officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Grizzard died at home Saturday, May 6, 2000.

He was born Feb. 21, 1957, in Decatur. He was an employee for Sonoco, Inc., for more than 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Grizzard of Decatur; two sons, Randy Keith Grizzard and Brandon Carl Grizzard, both of Decatur; one daughter, Angela Marie Clem of Danville; his mother and stepfather, Calene and Ralph Boudreaux of Anniston; two brothers, Gary Owen of Phenix City and Ralph Boudreaux Jr. of Madison; one sister, Melissa C. Boudreaux of Jacksonville; and two grandchildren.

Estella Hobbs
79, Limestone native

ATHENS -- Funeral for Estella Hobbs, 79, of Athens will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Village View United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Hillard officiating.

Burial will be in Thatch-Mann Cemetery with Peoples Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Hobbs died Thursday, May 4, 2000, in Valrico, Fla. She was born June 13, 1930, in Limestone County.

She is survived by two nephews, Michael Dixon and George Dixon, both of Florida; and two nieces, Rita Joyce Seay and Rosalyn Lewis, both of Florida.

Marilyn Williams Lewis

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Marilyn Williams Lewis, 76, of Athens will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Athens City Cemetery with McConnell Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lewis died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. Other arrangements will be announced by the funeral home.

Janice Loggins
66, homemaker

MOULTON -- Funeral for Janice Shirley Loggins, 66, of Moulton will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Robbie Darnell officiating.

Burial will be in Old Beulah Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Loggins died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. She was born Sept. 11, 1933, in Allentown, Pa. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, George "Jiggs" Loggins; one daughter, Bonnie Hawkins of Milton, Fla.; one brother, Bill Alagram of Allentown, Pa.; and four grandchildren.

Evelyn Giles McBride

Funeral arrangements for Evelyn Giles McBride of Decatur, who died today, May 8, 2000, at Parkway Medical Center, will be announced by Roselawn Funeral Home.

William W. Montgomery
67, retired GM manager

Memorial service for William W. Montgomery, 67, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Dunivant officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Montgomery died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at Limestone Health Facility. He was born April 25, 1933, in Moulton to Clyde and Flora Fuller Montgomery. He was a graduate of Cullman High School and attended George Washington University. He was a Marine veteran. He was a manager at General Motors, where he was employed for 33 years, the last 13 years in Pittsburgh. He retired in 1990 and moved to Decatur the following year. He was a certified solo flight pilot and won many photographic awards. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and North Alabama British Motoring Society.

He is survived by his wife, Rosa Faye Montgomery; one son, William Kevin Montgomery of Virginia Beach, Va.; two daughters, Laura Kim Hubbard of Cincinnati and Lisa Diane Montgomery of Atlanta; two brothers, Gale Montgomery of Decatur and Curtis Montgomery of Anniston.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Flower Fund or Music Fund, 805 Canal St. N.E., Decatur, AL 35601. or to Hospice of the Valley, 216 Johnston St. S.E., Decatur, AL 35601.

Fred Perry
83, retired farmer

LUBBOCK, Texas -- Funeral for Fred Perry, 83, of Hurlwood, Texas, formerly of Lawrence County, was to be today at 3 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home's Abbey Chapel with the Rev. June Downing, chaplain of Covenant Hospital officiating.

Burial was to be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Mr. Perry died Friday, May 5, 2000, at Covenant Medical Center. He was born July 27, 1916, in Lawrence County and moved to Lubbock County in 1927. He was a retired farmer, a member of Hurlwood Baptist Church and the widower of Cordie Belle Allsup Perry and the widower Mildred Hartnett Perry.

He is survived by two sons, Neal Perry of Roxton, Texas, and Larry Perry of Shallowater, Texas; four daughters, Nadine Dunlap and Anita Cook, both of Lubbock, Janice Aldridge of Olton, Texas, and Nina Dailey of Clyde, Texas; one brother, Paul Perry of Lubbock; two sisters, Mabel Lee of California and Ora Dean Milligan of Wolfforth, Texas; 19 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Billy Otis Riddle Jr.
24, welder

ATHENS -- Funeral for Billy Otis Riddle Jr., 24, of Toney will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Aaron Dunnavant officiating.

Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Riddle died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital of a heart attack. He was born April 17, 1976, in Athens to Billy and Rita Pylant Riddle. He was a member of Community Baptist Church. He was employed as a welder at Schwarze Industries in Huntsville.

He is survived by one brother, Daniel Riddle of Toney; two sisters, Mandy Riddle and Misty Riddle, both of Toney; his parents of Toney; and his grandparents, Tom and Geneva Pylant of Athens.

Pallbearers will be Steven Andrews, Tommy Sisk, Brian Mitchell, Mike Ferguson, Darrell Clark and Brian Bruder.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Henry 'Ray' Hagemaker
61, retired public works supervisor

TRINITY -- Funeral for Henry "Ray" Hagemaker, 61, of Trinity will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at New Vision Church with the Rev. B.L. Hale Jr. and the Rev. Chris Fuller officiating.

Burial will be in Caddo Cemetery with Parkway Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight at 6 at the funeral home.

Mr. Hagemaker died Monday, May 8, 2000, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. He was born June 17, 1938, in Morgan County to Henry and Agnes Hagemaker. He was a retired city of Decatur public works supervisor and an elder at New Vision Church.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Jane Hagemaker; one son, Kenneth Hagemaker of Trinity; one daughter, Brenda Watkins of Somerville; one brother, Billy Hagemaker of Moulton; two sisters, Faye Smith of Moulton and Geneveive Stewart of Smyrna, Tenn.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Robert 'Bob' Higdon
81, retired steel fabricator

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Robert R. "Bob" Higdon, 81, of Hartselle will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. David Weaver officiating.

Burial will be in Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Higdon died Monday, May 8, 2000, at his home. He was born Feb. 10, 1919, in Cullman County to Benjamin Franklin and Emily Wildman Higdon. He was a retired steel fabricator for ESPCO Co. and attended Salem United Methodist Church for 48 years. He was the brother of the late Charlie Higdon and Raymond Higdon.

He is survived by his wife, Melba Owen Higdon; one son, Robert O. Higdon of Massey; two daughters, Sondra R. Pitman of Hartselle and Carol H. Holladay of Huntsville; one brother, Ralph Higdon of Cullman; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Scott Holladay, Jason Pitman, Chance Higdon, Bob Miller, Bud Cole and Stewart NeSmith.

Marilyn Williams Lewis
76, Wee Wisdom Kindergarten owner

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Marilyn Williams Lewis, 76, of Athens was to be today at 11 a.m. at Athens City Cemetery with the Rev. Steven Screws officiating.

Mrs. Lewis died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born April 6, 1924, in Bessemer. An Athens resident since 1947, she was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and First United Methodist Church in Athens. She was the owner and operator of Wee Wisdom Kindergarten. She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross and Hospice of Limestone County.

She is survived by her husband, William P. Lewis Sr.; one son, William P. Lewis Jr. of Notasulga; three daughters, Sally Lewis Collier, Becky Lewis Pepper and Angela Lewis Hollon, all of Athens; one sister, Erin Vanderburg of Hueytown; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Evelyn Giles McBride
87, homemaker

Funeral for Evelyn Giles McBride, 87, of Decatur will be Thursday at 6 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Hal Noble and Rev. John Clotfelter officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. McBride died Monday, May 8, 2000, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born Dec. 30, 1912, in Decatur to William Thomas and Emma Grimwood Giles. She was a homemaker and a member of Central United Methodist Church, where she was a member of Fidelis Sunday school class. She was the widow of John G. McBride.

She is survived by one son, William Blanton McBride of Tallahassee, Fla.; two daughters, Suzanne McBride Stone of Decatur and Marilyn McBride Carmona of Palm Springs, Calif.; one sister, Betty Giles Franklin of Atlanta; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the building fund of Central United Methodist Church.

Elfriede Hill
65, homemaker

Funeral for Elfriede Hill, 65, of Decatur will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Clayborn officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hill died Tuesday May 9, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born July 22, 1934, in Maisach, Germany, to Joseph and Angelika Ludwig Appel. She was a Catholic and a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Rayburn Eugene Hill; one daughter, Angelika Elonora Hill of Portland, Ore.; and two grandsons.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
