ATHENS -- Graveside service for Hayden Cole Pressnell of Athens was Saturday at Roselawn Cemetery with Doug Matlock officiating and Limestone Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Hayden died Thursday, May 11, 2000 at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born May 11, 2000, in Athens.

He is survived by his parents, Michael and Dana Pressnell; one brother, Harrison Spencer Pressnell of Athens; his grandparents, Glen and Linda Pressnell and Herbert and Becky Sides, all of Athens; and his great-grandmothers, Stella Goodin and Rosa Mae Sides, both of Athens, and Lottie Bills of Florence.

Nicole Noel Segars
20, homemaker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Nicole Noel Segars, 20, of Hartselle will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Herring Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Ms. Segars died Thursday, May 11, 2000, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born Dec. 20, 1979, in Morgan County. She was the fiancée of Stephen D. Arnold and a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Cassidy Marquis Arnold of Decatur; her parents, Rex Ellis and Phyllis Sharon Segars of Hartselle; two brothers, Scott Andrew Green of Hartselle and Christopher Aaron Trivette of North Carolina; and one sister, Sonia Lynn Green of Decatur.

Pallbearers will be Paul Tapscott, Ronnie Reeves, Jerry Tapscott, Maverick Champion, Jimmy Lawrence, Chad Ryan and Robert Bean.

Billy John Sheffield
70, retired police lieutenant

JASPER -- Funeral for Billy John Sheffield, 70, of Jasper will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home with the Rev. J.L. Bailey officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Sheffield died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at Baptist Medical Center Princeton in Birmingham. He was born June 22, 1929, in Walker County. He was a retired lieutenant from Jasper Police Department and worked with the street department and as a security officer for Kmart. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Police, Veterans of Foreign Wars, York Masonic Lodge 221 and Mount Zion Baptist Church in Manchester.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara McMurray Sheffield; one son, John Sheffield of Russellville; two daughters, Deborah Colburn of Spruce Pine and Patty Andrews of Hartselle; two stepsons, Rodney Parker of Corner and Harold Knox of Jasper; two stepdaughters, Cindy Helms of Corner and Penny Ferguson of Birmingham; one sister, Ann Richards of Whitewater, Ohio; six grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.

Martha W. Wachter
94, homemaker

FLORENCE -- Funeral for Martha W. Wachter, 94, of Florence will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Peters Catholic Church in Birmingham with the Rev. Pat Sullivan officiating and Green view Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at the church.

Mrs. Wachter died Friday, May 12, 2000, at her home. She was born Sept. 26, 1905, in Pennsylvania to Author John and Margaret Wickham Whiston. She was the grandmother of Chris Lilly and Melinda Lilly Brasili, all of Decatur. She was the widow of George W. Wachter and a member of St. Peters Catholic Church.

She is survived by one son, George Thomas Wachter of Florence; two daughters, Rita W. Lilly of Florence and Diane W. Swateek of Birmingham; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Shoals, 1108 Bradshaw Drive, Florence, AL 35630 or St. Joseph School Foundation, 115 Plum Street, Florence, AL 35630.

Mary Glenn 'Miss Glenn' Campbell
76, retired schoolteacher

MOULTON -- Funeral for Mary Glenn "Miss Glenn" Campbell, 76, of Town Creek will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Wakefield, the Rev. Elmer Fowler and the Rev. Milton Burks officiating.

Burial will be in Providence Cemetery with Elliott Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Campbell died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at her home. She was born May 4, 1924, in Lawrence County to John Campbell and Zora Lansdell Campbell. A graduate of Florence State Teachers College, she taught in Lawrence County Schools for 33 years and taught Head Start for additional 13 years. She also was an adjunct teacher at Calhoun Community College.

She was an active member of Providence Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She also served actively in the Women's Missionary Union and served as training union director for Muscle Shoals Baptist Association. She was a member of the National Education Association, Alabama Education Association, Alabama Retired Teachers Association, Lawrence County Association of Retired Persons and Delta Kappa Gamma.

She is survived by three brothers, Carl Campbell of Harvest, and John Campbell and Ray Campbell, both of Town Creek; and six sisters, Marcilla Weems of Decatur, Clara Parker of Town Creek, Joyce Moore of Montgomery, Mabel Patterson of Decatur, and Ruth Ault and Ruby Campbell, both of Town Creek.

Pallbearers will be Roger Parker, Larry Patterson, Jeff Campbell, Steve Sprinkle, Julian Bell, Douglas Shumake and Julian Hamilton.

Jamie Wayne Ferguson

ATHENS -- Funeral for Jamie Wayne Ferguson, 28, of Miami Beach, Fla., will be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Ray Pettit officiating.

Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery.

Mr. Ferguson died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, in Miami Beach. He was born June 8, 1971, in Limestone County. He was a Baptist.

He is survived by his father, Weldon Eugene Ferguson of Florida, his mother, Martha Morris of Elkmont; his stepfather, John Johnson of Elkmont; two brothers, Christopher Morris of Elkmont and John Carter of Athens; five sisters, Michelle Morris Roberts, Rebecca Morris, Donna Morris and Peggy Bronson, all of Elkmont, and Tammy Carter of Ardmore; and his grandparents, Weldon Ferguson of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and Mauvaline Arnitt of Winter Haven, Fla.

Pallbearers will be Chris Morris, Corey Johnson, Don Johnson, James Stewart, James Martinec and Shawn Conley.

Evelyn Jane Anderson Forthman
82, retired dental hygienist

Memorial service for Evelyn Jane Anderson Forthman, 82, of Decatur will Monday at 7 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Lewis, the Rev. Duane Maas and the Rev. R.A. Reinhardt, pastor emeritus, officiating and Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Forthman died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born Feb. 10, 1918, in Howard, S.D., to Johnny Anderson and Emma Anderson. She moved to Tucson, Ariz., in 1955, where she worked for the U.S. Army in the dental clinic at Fort Huachuca. She moved to Decatur in 1991 and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She was the sister of the late Linda Anderson.

She is survived by one son, James E. Forthman of Decatur; two granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to the Parish Outreach or building fund of St. Paul's Lutheran Church or a favorite charity.

Willard Oscar Hopper
72, farmer

Funeral for Willard Oscar Hopper, 72, of Eva will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Gum Pond Primitive Baptist Church with Dan Hopper officiating.

Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery with Cullman Heritage Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church an hour before the service.

Mr. Hopper died Friday, May 19, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Sept. 15, 1927, in Blount County to Lama Eloy Hopper and Izella Nichols Hopper. He was a farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lily Holmes Hopper; one daughter, Nancy Thompson of Eva; one brother, J.L. Hopper of Eva; three sisters, Christine Leeth of Falkville, Patsy Walden of Hartselle and Wilda Ellenburg of Hartselle; and two grandchildren.

Annie Maude Weatherbee
89, homemaker

Funeral for Annie Maude Weatherbee, 89, of Decatur will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Gary Patton and Irvin Hemmel officiating.

Burial will be in Burnout Cemetery in Franklin County. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Weatherbee died Friday, May 19, 2000, at University of Alabama Hospital at Birmingham. She was born Feb. 10, 1911, in Franklin County to Rufus McNatt and Ida McNatt. She was a homemaker and a member of Somerville Road Church of Christ. She was the widow of C.A. Weatherbee.

She is survived by two sons, James E. Weatherbee of Springfield, Va., and M. Charles Weatherbee of Birmingham; one daughter, Doris A. DeCelles of Decatur; three brothers, J.L. McNatt and Billy McNatt, both of Winter Garden, Fla., and Rex H. McNatt of Sacramento, Calif.; three sisters, Ruby Vinson, Pauline Hammock and Betty Crouch, all of Winter Garden; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Grandsons and nephews will be pallbearers.

Josie Mae Marbut Hawkins
86, retired school nutrition employee

GADSDEN -- Funeral for Josie Mae Marbut Hawkins, 86, of Athens and formerly of Rainbow City, was to be today at 2 p.m. at Collier Butler Chapel with the Rev. Walter Childers officiating.

Burial was to be in Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery near Geraldine.

Mrs. Hawkins died at home Sunday, May 21, 2000.

She was born Aug. 30, 1913, in Georgia She was a longtime resident of Etowah County and the oldest charter member of Smith's Chapel Baptist Church. She retired from the public school system Nutrition Department. She was the widow of Clarence Marbut and Melvin Hawkins, and the mother of the late Lamon Marbut, Lamar Marbut, Russell Marbut and Myron Marbut.

She is survived by one stepson, Paul Hawkins; two sisters, Mary Nowles and Dora Clark; 11 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons and great-grandsons were to be pallbearers.

Volunteers from Hospice of Limestone County will be honorary pallbearers.

Nora Lee Heaps
89, homemaker

MOULTON -- Funeral for Nora Lee Heaps, 89, of Town Creek was Friday, May 19, 2000, at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. William Briley and the Rev. Jerry Strickland officiating.

Burial was in Cave Springs Cemetery.

Mrs. Heaps died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at National Health Care. She was born Oct. 17, 1910, in Lawrence County to Joe King and Lillie King.

She was a homemaker, a member of Cave Springs Free Will Baptist Church. She was the widow of Herman Heaps and mother of the late Mae Hood.

She is survived by two sons, Leo Heaps of Hickman, Neb., and Olen Heaps of Mount Hope; six daughters, Mary Lou Lane and Betty Morris, both of Moulton, Faye Parker and Jean Rutherford, both of Town Creek, Dean Wright of Decatur and Sue Spruell of Mount Hope; one sister, Katherine Grimes of Mount Pleasant, Tenn.; 27 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jeremy Heaps, Melvin Parker, Ronnie Hood, Dexter Rutherford, Rickey Borden and Greg Morris.

Jo Hollimon
72, retired laboratory technician

MOULTON -- Funeral for Jo Hollimon, 72, of Moulton will be today at 2 p.m. at the Lawrence Funeral Home with Gary Carter and Wallace Whitehorn officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton Memory Garden.

Mrs. Hollimon died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at Princeton Baptist Medical Center. She was born Nov. 29, 1927, in Lawrence County to Tom Craig and Bert Welborn Craig. She was a retired laboratory technician at Monsanto and a member of Hillsboro Heights Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband, Wilvin Hollimon; one son, Edwin Hollimon of Moulton; two brothers, Thomas Craig of Selma and Neal Craig of Moulton; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Minor, Dwight Bates, Darrell Thompson, Scott Hollimon, Roland Hollimon and Jerry Purser.
