John H. Teague
Retired educator

HARTSELLE -- Graveside service for John H. Teague of Falkville will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Falkville City Cemetery with the Rev. James Henderson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

The family will received friends from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Teague died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born in Morgan County to William Rufus Teague and Lottie Patterson Teague. He was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force, a retired teacher with the Decatur City and Morgan County school systems for 40 years, and a member of Cedar Plains Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Eunice O. Teague; one daughter, Sylvia Ann Teague of Falkville; and one brother, Arthur Howard Teague of Falkville.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Teague, John Arthur Teague, Michael Teague, Edward Teague, Billy Teague, Gary Teague and Carl Ward.

Elmo Tolbert
75, retired farmer

TRINITY -- Funeral for Elmo Tolbert, 75, of Courtland will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Courtland Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Reding, the Rev. Buddy Simmons and the Rev. Scotty Letson officiating.

Burial will be in Courtland City Cemetery with Parkway Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Tolbert died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at The University of Alabama Hospital at Birmingham. He was born Nov. 7, 1924, in Lawrence County to Jeff Tolbert and Georgie Peebles Tolbert. He was a retired farmer. He was the father of the late Steven Tolbert.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Tolbert; five sons, Billy Ray Tolbert, Ronnie Tolbert, Jeffrey Tolbert and Danny Tolbert, all of Courtland, and Tommy Tolbert of Muscle Shoals; five daughters, Joyce Norton and Joan Appleton, both of Decatur, Jean Stewart of Hartselle, Janet Malloy of Courtland and Julia Praitano of Mobile; two brothers, Hubert Tolbert of Wayne, Ohio, and Eugene Tolbert of Westmillgrove, Ohio; two sisters, Lorene Williams of Wayne, Ohio, and Helen Steiner of Fostoria, Ohio; 21 grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Kevin Tolbert, Mitch Tolbert, JeremyStewart, Jarrod Brewer, Butch Tolbert and Delta Weeks will be pallbearers.

Nora Lee Heaps
89, homemaker

MOULTON -- Funeral for Nora Lee Heaps, 89, of Town Creek will be Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. William Briley and the Rev. Jerry Strickland officiating.

Burial will be in Cave Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Heaps died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at National Health Care in Moulton. She was born Oct. 17, 1910, in Lawrence County to Joe King and Lillie King. She was a homemaker and a member of Cave Springs Free Will Baptist Church. She was the widow of Herman Heaps and the mother of the late Mae Hood.

She is survived by two sons, Leo Heaps of Hickmas, Neb., and Olon Heaps of Mount Hope; six daughters, Mary Lou Lane and Betty Morris, both of Moulton, Faye Parker and Jean Rutherford, both of Town Creek, Dean Wright of Decatur and Sue Spruell of Mount Hope; two brothers, Bernice King of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and Buddy King of Columbia, Tenn.; one sister, Katherine Grimes of Mount Pleasant, Tenn.; 27 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Heaps, Melvin Parker, Ronnie Hood, Dexter Rutherford, Ricky Borden and Greg Morris.

Benjamin Franklin Hill
75, truck driver

Graveside service for Benjamin Franklin Hill, 75, of Las Vegas, formerly of Decatur, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Bellview Cemetery in Morgan County with Jason Macy officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends Friday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Hill died May 11, 2000, in Las Vegas. He was born May 15, 1924, in Lawrence County to Benjamin F. Hill Sr. and Mattie Hill. He was a truck driver, a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by two sons, Ronald Hill and Thomas Lynn Hill, both of Trinity; one daughter, Patricia Huskey of Trinity; one sister, Ola Zills of Decatur; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Ellen Kalehua-Makanoe Johnson
70, Prestolite retiree

ATHENS -- Funeral for Ellen Kalehua-Makanoe Johnson, 70, of Athens will be tonight at 7 at East Highland Baptist Church with the Rev. David Perry officiating and Spry Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Johnson died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born July 18, 1929, in Hawaii. She retired from Prestolite.

She is survived by four sons, Edward Ray Johnson of Hawaii, Charles Wayne Johnson and Gregory Michael Johnson, both of Athens, and Timothy William Johnson of Reston, Va.; two daughters, Margaret Ellen Perry and Sharon Naves, both of Athens; four brothers, Raymond Alapai, Herbert Keawe Alapai, Ralphe Alapai and John Alapai, all of Hawaii; two sisters, Hazel Deguair and Velma Kauahi, both of Hawaii; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Beatrice Ward Morrow
68, retired playschool owner

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Beatrice Ward Morrow, 68, of Hartselle will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Harlon Hood officiating.

Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Morrow died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, in Etowah County. She was born Dec. 29, 1931, in Coosa County to Zebedee Ward and Nancy Era Steele Ward. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and the retired owner and operator of Happy Day Playschool. She was employed by SouthCentral Bell for 15 years. She was the widow of Joe Vann Morrow.

She is survived by one son, Vann Arden Morrow of Hartselle; three daughters, Deborah Hall and Dena Vandiver, both of Hartselle, and Aprille Flemons of Decatur; three brothers, Vivian Ward of Rockford, Doug Ward of Montgomery and Joe Ward of Dauphin Island; two sisters, Ann Martin of Attalla and Nancy Riddle of Titus; and 10 grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation or Hospice of the Valley.

Annie B. Stidham
103, homemaker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Annie B. Stidham, 103, of Falkville will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with Phillip Hines officiating.

Burial will be in Hartselle Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Stidham died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at Falkville Health Care Center. She was born Sept. 20, 1896, in Marion County to Mahalia Brooks Barnwell and John Thomas Barnwell. She was a homemaker and a member of Hartselle Church of Christ. She was the widow of B.R. Stidham Sr. and the mother of the late Ruth Burgess.

She is survived by three sons, B.R. Stidham Jr. of Decatur, Warren C. Stidham of Newport, Tenn., and Charles B. Stidham of Falkville; one daughter, Anita Willison of Montgomery; one sister, Willie Frederick of Hamilton; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons and great-grandsons will be pallbearers.

Noel Wayne Williams
60, aerospace engineer

Funeral service for Noel Wayne Williams, 60, of Decatur will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Buddy Champion, the Rev. Michael Gentry and the Rev. James Chitwood officiating.

Burial will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Williams died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at his home. He was born Jan. 12, 1940, in Brooklyn, Miss., to Noel Grady Williams and Mary Estelle Kahl Williams. He was an aerospace engineer and a member of First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jan Williams; one son, Noel Wayne Williams Jr. of Huntsville; one daughter, Nicole Williams of Decatur; one stepson, Brad Parker of Decatur; one stepdaughter, Amanda Chenault of Dallas; three brothers, Grady Williams of Victoria, Texas, Dan Williams of Gulfport, Miss., and Leslie Williams of Petal, Miss; and one grandson.

Pallbearers will be Cliff Copeland, George Cooper, Andy Andanzola, Autlee Taylor, Bill Brunner and Allen Walters.

Members of the Decatur Elks Lodge will be honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Lights of Love at Decatur General Hospital Oncology Center.

Tennie Lou Driver
89, homemaker
HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Tennie Lou Driver, 89, of Falkville will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Martin Depreast and the Rev. Wendell Callahan officiating.

Burial will be in Moss Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Driver died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born Feb. 10, 1911, in Marion County to Elisha Tallman and Zenia L. Engle. She was a Baptist, a homemaker and the widow of W.M. Driver.

She is survived by five sons, Charles Driver and Garland Driver, both of Hartselle, Vertis Driver of Muscle Shoals, Harold Driver of Eva and Carmen Driver of Decatur; one daughter, Elaine Porter of Tyrone, Ga.; 17 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Rickey Driver, Mitchell Driver, Michael Driver, Josh Driver, Zackery Sparkman, Rickey Swann, Evin Driver and Gary Driver.

Barbara J. Ellison
62, volunteer

Memorial service for Barbara J. Ellison, 62, of Decatur will be at First Presbyterian Church at a date and time to be announced.

Mrs. Ellison died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Oct. 22, 1937, in Wyandotte, Mich., to John Nathaniel and Edna Irene Paige Wright. She graduated from Denby High School in Detroit and attended the University of Michigan and Immaculatta College. She graduated from The State University of New York.

She had a lifelong interest in music and sang in a variety of choral groups, including performances with the Bach Chorale at Cobo Hall in Detroit and the Detroit Symphony. Before relocating to Decatur, she was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., where she was a member of the choir, served on the board of deacons and was a ruling elder on the session.

She was a former director and treasurer of Grace Smith House, a shelter for battered women in Poughkeepsie, and was a volunteer for Literacy Volunteers of America. She was a worker and instructor in Arthritis Foundation programs. She also had been director of First Lutheran Church Nursery School in Poughkeepsie and taught preschool there and in Paoli, Pa.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Decatur and the Tuesday Morning Circle. She was involved in Decatur Newcomers Club and was a Decatur General Hospital volunteer.

She is survived by her husband, Edward Ellison; four sons, Geoffrey Ellison of Cullman, John Ellison of Los Angeles, Michael Ellison of Catonsville, Md., and Douglas Ellison of Alexandria, Va.; and six grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 701 Oak St., Decatur, AL 35601; the Comprehensive Cancer Center, The University of Alabama at Birmingham, 1824 Sixth Ave. S., Birmingham, AL 35294-3300; or the American Cancer Society.

Alleen Faulkner
80, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Alleen Faulkner, 80, of Athens will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Dwight Rayburn officiating.

Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Faulkner died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at her home. She was born Jan. 23, 1920, in Limestone County to Raymond and Lena Griggs King. She was a homemaker and a member of New Oakland Baptist Church. She was the widow of James Lonzo Faulkner and the mother of the late Gail McMahan.

She is survived by one son, Kenneth Faulkner of Elkmont; two daughters, Barbara Clark of Elkmont and Sandra Murphy of Athens; two brothers, Pete King and James King, both of Athens; one sister, Bert Miller of Athens; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Clark, Tracy McMahan, Ray McMahan, James Clark, Sammy Reed and Frankie Murphy.

Vista Vann Self
99, retired seamstress

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Vista Vann Self, 99, of Eva will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Eva United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brady McCullough officiating.

Burial will be in Eva Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Self died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Oct. 29, 1900, in Marshall County to Dr. T. Vann and Collie Gregory Vann. She was a homemaker and retired seamstress for Orr Drapery. She was a member of Eva United Methodist Church and a worthy matron of the Eastern Star. She was the widow of Ottis J. Self and the mother of the late Pack Self, Frann Creel, Wanda McKee and Sue Mc-Kelvy.

She is survived by two daughters, Janet Woodall of Eva and Andrea Wright of Hartselle; two sisters, Polly Vann and Dora Vann, both of Knoxville; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Keith Wright, Dale Robinson, Rusty Blackmon, Scott McKelvy, Joe McKelvy, Steven McKee and John Beard.
