Louis D. England
73, retired maintenance worker

MANSFIELD, Ohio -- Funeral for Louis D. England, 73, of Mansfield was Wednesday at Snyder Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred T. Clark officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Memorial Park.

Mr. England died Monday, May 22, 2000, at his residence. He was born Dec. 12, 1926, in Lawrence County to Uranis Tirey and Mary Louduskie Pearson England. He graduated from Speake High School and moved to Mansfield in 1955. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served aboard the battleships USS Pennsylvania and the USS Cebu in the Pacific Theater. He was a tire builder for the former Mansfield Tire & Rubber Company. He drove a school bus for the Madison City School System and retired as a maintenance worker.

He was the brother of the late Walter England, the late Neal England, the late Cordelia Williams, the late Lessie Alexander, the late Pearl Higgins and the late Mildred Montgomery.

He is survived by his wife, Glenna D. Miller England, to whom he was married for more than 38 years; two sons, Kevin L. England of Painesville and Kurtis L. England of Mansfield; one daughter, Carolyn Herschler of Mansfield; one brother, Claude England of Birmingham; one sister, Mallie Culver of Decatur; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Odessa Breeding Evans
88, retired teacher

Funeral for Odessa Breeding Evans, 88, of Cincinnati will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Garner Memorial CME Church in Decatur with the Rev. Richard McDuffie officiating.

Burial will be in Sterrs Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. The body will be in the church an hour before service.

Mrs. Evans died Monday, May 22, 2000, in Deaconess Hospital in Cincinnati.

She was born Aug. 16, 1911, in Morgan County to Henry Edward Breeding and Annie Lee Hubbard Breeding. She was a graduate of Alabama A&M University and taught in the Morgan County school system for 40 years. She taught at Somerville Ward, Lacey's Spring, Moulton Heights and Priceville Elementary schools. She was a member of the Alabama Education Association and National Education Association. She was a member of Garner Memorial Church and participated in vacation Bible school, and was superintendent of Sunday school. She was the widower of Merlin B. Evans, who was a principal in the Morgan County school system.

She is survived by four daughters, Gwendolyn E. Dobbins-Colvin of Nashville, Merline E. Lyle of Dothan, Mary Carolyn Shine of Pomona, Calif., and Gloria E. Smith of Cincinnati; one brother, William T. Breeding of Birmingham; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons and members of Garner Memorial Church will be pallbearers.

Harold Edward 'Doc' McKinney Sr.
72, retired machinist

A military graveside service for Harold Edward "Doc" McKinney Sr., 72, of Decatur will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with the Rev. Mack Carter officiating.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. McKinney died Thursday, May 25, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Aug. 4, 1927, in New Castle to William Henry McKinney and Lucille Hull McKinney. He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Forces veteran and past commander of VFW Post 668 in Birmingham. He was the first All-American Commander of Post 668. He worked for 12 years at Riverwalk Marina and at River City Engraving and for 47 years was a machinist at American Cast Iron Pipe Co. and Thomas Foundry in Birmingham.

He is survived by his wife, Betty McKinney; one son, Harold Edward McKinney Jr. of Decatur; three daughters, Claudia Osborne and Cynthia Bice of Decatur, and Rosemary Walters of Hayden; six brothers, five sisters; four grandsons; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Bice, Noel Mayfield, Grady Tyler, Steve Conner, Thomas Lovett and Kevin Walters.

Elbert Earnest Wylie
93, retired state employee

MOULTON -- Funeral for Elbert Earnest Wylie, 93, of Sheffield, was to be today at 11 a.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Jake Yarbrough and the Rev. Bill Parker officiating.

Burial was to be in Moulton Memory Gardens.

Mr. Wylie died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at Sunbridge Health Care in Tuscumbia. He was born April 19, 1907, in Florence. He was a retired state of Alabama employee.

Mr. Wylie is survived by one son, Melvin Wylie of Moulton; two daughters, Francis Parker or Russellville and Joan Hodge of Plano, Texas; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Willie Lee Blackwood

MOULTON -- Funeral for Willie Lee Blackwood, 73, of Moulton will be today at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Guy Sutton and the Rev. Dustin Warren officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Hope Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until time of service.

Mr. Blackwood died Friday, May 26, 2000, at National Health Care Center in Moulton. He was born January 1927 in Cullman County to Will and Mary Ellen Blackwood.

He is survived by one brother, Tifford Blackwood of Moulton.

Family members will be pallbearers.

Stella Masterson Bowling
93, homemaker

MOULTON -- Funeral for Stella Masterson Bowling, 93, of Flat Rock will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Houston and the Rev. Sam Wallace officiating.

Burial will be in Old Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bowling died at home Saturday, May 27, 2000. She was born Dec. 29, 1906, in Lawrence County to Eddie Masterson and Elizabeth Alexander Masterson. She was a homemaker and a member of New Zion Baptist Church and Eastern Star No. 485. She was the widow of Terrell Bowling and mother of the late Elizabeth Smith.

She is survived by two sons, Vernon "Rip" Bowling of Mount Hope and Alton "Buddy" Bowling of Memphis; one daughter, Shalah Terry of Town Creek; three brothers, James Masterson of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., Jack Masterson of Florence and Gaines Masterson of Russellville; one stepbrother, Fenander Kerby of Huntsville; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Edwin Smith, Erwin Smith, Allen Morgan, Jeff Bowling, Mark Bowling, Greg Bowling, Bruce Martin, Steve Bowling, Danny Terry and Scottie Terry.

Gorman H. Grisham
71, retired engineer

Funeral for Gorman Hamil Grisham, 71, of Decatur will be today at 3 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church with Brooks Barkley and David Lawler officiating, and Shelton Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Grisham died at home Friday, May 26, 2000. He was born Dec. 17, 1928, in Cullman to Glynn Hightower Grisham and Cannie D. Grisham. He was the brother of the late Helen G. Griffith. A member of Southside Baptist Church, he worked as a district engineer with the Alabama State Highway Department for 39 years before retiring. He was a registered land surveyor in Alabama for 45 years and owned G&G Survey Co. He was a member of the Alabama Society of Professional Surveyors and the Tennessee Valley Chapter of Professional Land Surveyors.

A Korean War veteran, he received the Bronze Star for meritorious service, and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post 15.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Aday Grisham; one son, Gorman Hamil Grisham Jr. of Hartselle; two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Grisham and Sarah Lynn Grisham Henderson, both of Decatur; one brother, William "Bill" T. Grisham of Huntsville; three sisters, Elna R. Sanderson of Huntsville, Lois G. Strong of Hartselle and June G. Butler of Macon, Ga.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Griffith, B.L. Rutherford, Joe Harold Morrow, Dave Suski, Warren Griffith, Milton Dick Morgan and Lewis Miller.

Memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church or to the American Cancer Society.

Charles A. Hatchett

ATHENS -- Funeral for Charles A. Hatchett, 73, of Elkmont will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Joel Logan and Chester Jones officiating.

Burial will be in Hatchett Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Hatchett died at home Saturday, May 27, 2000. He was born March 27, 1927, in Limestone County. He was a Merchant Marine and a member of Sweet Springs Baptist Church. He was the father of the late Keith Hatchett and the late Mike Hatchett.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Hatchett; one son, Johnny Hatchett of Ardmore; two daughters, Janet Seedorf of Ardmore and Connie Morgan of Fackler; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Senior Saints at Sweet Springs Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.

Lillie Estelle Pausco
94, homemaker

Graveside service for Lillie Estelle Pausco, 94, of Nashville will be today at 3:30 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with Robert Mullins officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Pausco died Saturday, May 27, 2000, at Madison Health Care of Nashville. She was born March 22, 1904, in Decatur. She was a member of Southwest Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas Andrews of Tampa, Fla., and Kenneth Andrews of Wichita, Kan.; two sisters, Geraldine Gustin of Hatboro, Pa., and Christine Loeser of New Orleans; 28 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Claude Weldon Poole
93, farmer/carpenter

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Claude Weldon Poole, 93, of Hartselle will be today at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Roland Wesmoreland officiating.

Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery on Old Corn Road in Cullman County.

Mr. Poole died Friday, May 26, 2000, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was born March 10, 1907, in Lawrence County. He was a self-employed farmer and carpenter. He was the son of the late Lorenzo Dowl Poole and the late Mary Hamilton Poole.

He is survived by his wife, Eunice L. Poole; one daughter, Pauline Pearson of Birmingham; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Rob Burkett, Jackie Hale, Elbert Poole, Taldmadge Poole, Tim Rogers and Tim Rogers Jr.

Maureen Mildred Sanderson
79, Athens Lingerie retiree

ATHENS -- Funeral for Maureen Mildred Sanderson, 79, of Athens will be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Bill Irby officiating.

Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Sanderson died at home Saturday, May 27, 2000. She was born Sept. 14, 1920, in Warren County, Tenn.

She was a member of Bethel Church of Christ and retired from Athens Lingerie. She was the grandmother of the late Kris Sanderson.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Leo Sanderson; one son, Thomas Douglas Sanderson of Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; four daughters, Janie Mae Meberg of Winfield, Carolyn George and Kathy Day, both of Athens, and Marie Embry of Rogersville; two sisters, Bessie McDonald and Virgie Sanderson, both of Athens; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Stella Masterson Bowling
93, homemaker
