ATHENS -- Funeral for Mable T. Davis, 92, of Athens will be Tuesday at noon at New Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Goodloe and the Rev. Larry Lockett Sr. officiating.

Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery with People's Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at the funeral home. The body will be in the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Davis died Friday, June 2, 2000, at her home. She was born April 5, 1908, in Limestone County. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Herron Davis; one daughter, Ella Mae Goodloe of Athens; 10 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

Clodessa Gordon

ATHENS -- Funeral arrangements for Clodessa Gordon, 77, of Athens, who died today, June 5, 2000, at her residence, will be announced by McConnell Funeral Home.

Alice Yarbrough Harden
64, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Alice Yarbrough Harden, 64, of Athens will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Little Elk Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Wendell Thompson officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery with People's Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 to 7 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Harden died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born Jan. 7, 1936, in Athens. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by three sons, Harvey Harden Jr. of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Lewis L. Harden and Michael D. Harden, both of Athens; three sisters, Helen Cavanaugh of Nashville, Martha Clara Jackson of Detroit and Tommi Steve of Athens; and 11 grandchildren.

Martin 'M.A.' Mayes
73, retired painter

MOULTON -- Funeral for Martin "M.A." Mayes, 73, of Courtland will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Rickey Hughes officiating.

Burial will be in Providence Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Mayes died Friday, June 2, 2000, at the home of his daughter in Melrose Park, Ill. He was born Jan. 19, 1927, in Town Creek to Ollie and Ellen Kraft Mayes. He was a retired painter. He was the widower of Helen Bunnell Mayes, the father of Deloise Mayes and the brother of Minnie Stokes and Travis Mayes.

He is survived by three sons, Buddy Mayes of Rockford, Ill., Danny Mayes of Decatur, Mich., and Don Mayes of Bowling Brook, Ill.; two daughters, Lana Hernandez of Melrose Park, Ill., and Elaina Mayes of Courtland; one brother, Owen Mayes of Louisiana; one sister, Helen Britt of Spring Hill, La.; and nine grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Larry Smallwood, Donnie Mayes, Matthew Marchiando, Danny Wright, Colin Paul and Bob Bologna.

Clarence Lincoln Rawls

Funeral arrangements for Clarence Lincoln Rawls, 67, of Decatur, who died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at Parkway Medical Center, will be announced by Sharpley Funeral Home.

Ural Smith
84, mechanic

ATHENS -- Funeral for Ural Smith, 84, of Tanner was to be today at 2 p.m. at Lakeview United Methodist Church in Tanner with the Rev. Willie Byrd officiating.

Burial was to be in the church cemetery with People's Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Smith died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born June 9, 1915, in Tennessee. He was a mechanic.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian Smith; one son, Ural Smith of Indianapolis, Ind.; and one daughter, Shirley A. Lynch of Indianapolis.

Farrell Gary Tucker
77, retired loan examiner

Funeral for Farrell Gary Tucker, 77, of Decatur was to be today at 3 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with Ralph Stout officiating.

Burial was to be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Tucker died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Sept. 28, 1922, in Lincoln County, Tenn., to Gladys Gary Tucker and Joseph Tucker.

He was a graduate of Riverside High School and Athens College. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America and Junior Achievement. He retired from Central Bankshares of the South as a loan examiner.

He served with the 44th Infantry during World War II and with the 1343rd Engineering Battalion of the Alabama National Guard of Decatur during the Korean War. He was a member of Grant Street Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Sybert Tucker.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Martin, Bill Brazelton, Tim Lovelace, Gary Powell, Billy Watterson, Charles Riley, Jack McGowin and Jim McCulloch.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to a favorite charity.

Mary Ann Brooks
32, former cook

Funeral for Mary Ann Brooks, 32, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Progressive Christian Outreach Ministry with the Rev. Arthur L. Warrior officiating.

Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery with Sharpley Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Ms. Brooks died Friday, June 2, 2000, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born Jan. 16, 1968, in Decatur to Carlos Brooks and Maxine Collier. She was a member of Progressive Christian Outreach Ministry and a former cook at Morrison's Cafeteria. She was the granddaughter of the late Laverne Brooks.

She is survived by two sons, Samuel Lee Brooks and Timothy Oneal Brooks, both of Decatur; two daughters, Brittney Nichole Brooks and Erica Renee Brooks, both of Decatur; her parents of Decatur; her grandmother, Sophia Jennings of Huntsville; three brothers, Collis Brooks Jr., Larry Brooks and William Brooks, all of Decatur; six sisters, Catherine Brooks, Jeanette Miller, Vanessa Watkins and Carla Faye High, all of Huntsville, Yvonne Williams and Emma Dee Brooks, both of Decatur; and three half sisters, Delores Taylor, Carolyn Dixon and Mary Brooks, all of Decatur.

Pallbearers will be Tracey Watson, Fred Stegall, John Johnson, Shaun Miller, Earl Jordan, Robert Brooks, Phillip Johnson and Jason Collier.

Eleanor Cabanski

Funeral arrangements for Eleanor Cabanski, 86, of Decatur, who died Monday, June 5, 2000, at NHC Nursing Home, will be announced by Roselawn Funeral Home.

Simonne Marie Croppi
65, retired caterer

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Simonne Marie Croppi, 65, of North Pole, Alaska, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Sandlin Cemetery with Marty Thompson officiating and Spry Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Croppi died May 9, 2000, in Fairbanks, Alaska. She was born Oct. 17, 1934, in Quebec, Canada, to Edmond and Azlilda Fortin. She was a retired caterer and a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church. She was a member of the Ladies Shriners, the Eastern Star and the North Pole Moose Lodge. She was the mother of the late Dale Green and the sister of the late Claude Fortin, Jane Dezot and Lucy Lezesque.

She is survived by four brothers, Simon Fortin, Arthur Fortin and Ludger Fortin, all of Van Buren, Maine, and Louis Fortin of Caribou, Maine; two sisters, Theresa Stubb and Yolande Lavid, both of Van Buren; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

William Crow
77, retired crane operator

MOULTON -- Funeral for William "Bill" Crow, 77, of Decatur, formerly of Moulton, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Bender officiating.

Burial will be in Jones Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Crow died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born April 4, 1923, in Lawrence County to Ollie Mac Crow and Mattie Lou Rhodes Crow. He was retired from Ingalls Iron as a crane operator and was an Army Air Force veteran. He was the widower of Edna Lindell Sale Crow and the brother of the late Prentice Crow, Freeman Crow and Irene Lawrence Hitt.

He is survived by three daughters, Linda Russell and Mary Ann Watson, both of Houston, Texas, and Mattie Garrison of Decatur; one brother, Horace Crow of Decatur; one sister, Aline Brown of Decatur; one half brother, Claude "Buddy" Pitts of Tennessee; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Andy Mears, Nolan Head, Windell Allen, Robert Thronberry, Dale Proctor and Kenny Fagen.

Clodessa Norton Gordon
77, home demonstration agent

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Clodessa Norton Gordon, 77, of Athens will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Athens City Cemetery with Jack Baldwin officiating and McConnell Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gordon died Monday, June 5, 2000, at her home. She was born Dec. 10, 1922, in Guntersville. She moved to Limestone County in 1948. She was a teacher, a home demonstration agent and attended First Christian Church in Athens.

She is survived by her husband, David Gordon; two sons, David Gordon Jr. and John Gordon, both of Athens; two daughters, Jayne Gordon of Nashville and Martha Schmieder of Madison; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Gordon, Billy Gordon, Tommy Gordon, Jimmy Gordon, Van Gordon and Rann Gordon.

Ruth Elizabeth Hardy
85, retired spooler

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Ruth Elizabeth Hardy, 85, of Hartselle will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Rucker officiating.

Burial will be in Cedar Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hardy died today, June 6, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born March 8, 1915, in Rhea County, Tenn., to Newt Jones and Virginia Walker Jones.

She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Decatur and a retired spooler at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., where she worked for 34 years.

She is survived by one son, Charles E. Hardy of Decatur; one brother, Paul Jones of Decatur; three sisters, Ella Moon and Helen Luker, both of Hartselle, and Modenia Hardin of Falkville; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Luker, Phillip Hardin, Jackie Belew, Patrick Yancy, James Jones and Barry Schonebaum.

Nona Brown Sivley McMillan
97, genealogist

Graveside service for Nona Brown Sivley McMillan, 97, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Summerford officiating.

Mrs. McMillan died June 4, 2000, at NHC Nursing Home in Moulton. She was born Dec. 16, 1902, in Lawrence County to Luther Monroe Sivley and Ida Poole Sivley. She was a genealogist and homemaker. She wrote "The Sivley Story," which traces family roots from Pennsylvania to Huntsville. She was a descendant of Jacob Sivley, an early settler of Huntsville who moved there at the same time as John Hunt for whom the city is named. She was the widow of Dee Floyd McMillan.

She is survived by one son, Harold McMillan of Huntsville; one daughter, Sibyl Watson of Decatur; three brothers, Guy Sivley of Hartselle, and Walter Sivley and Wendall Sivley, both of Moulton; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
