ATHENS -- Funeral for Elaine Whitty Chisholm, 68, of Athens will be today at 12:30 p.m. in the Garth Chapel of First United Methodist Church with Carl Evans officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Spry Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Chisholm died Thursday, June 8, 2000, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born July 7, 1931, in Boston. She was a homemaker and a retired nurse. She was a member of Wilmington's Women's Club, numerous church organizations as well as a member of First United Methodist Churches of Wilmington, Mass., and Athens.

She is survived by her husband, James Barnett Chisholm; one son, James Barnett Chisholm Jr., of Bay Saint Louis, Miss.; one daughter, Fabienne Chisholm, of Athens; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mike Romine, James Barnett Chisholm Jr., James West, Joey West and John West.

Marie McLemore
72, homemaker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Marie McLemore, 72, of Danville, will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Francis Proctor officiating.

Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. McLemore died Friday, June 9, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born April 30, 1928, in Lawrence County to Manco and Olga White. She was a homemaker and the sister of James White and Sebron White.

She is survived by her husband, Charles McLemore; two sons, Damion McLemore and Bryan McLemore, both of Speake; three daughters, Debra Motes of Moulton, Sandra Higdon of Massey and Annette Hyde of Speake; one brother, Calvin White of Decatur; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Mark McLemore, Keith McLemore, Chad Mote, Joe Hyde, Chance Higdon and Marty Kelsoe.

Etora G. 'Toby' Shindleborrow
61, homemaker

HUNTSVILLE -- A private memorial service will be held for Etora G. "Toby" Shindleborrow, 61, of Decatur with Spry Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Shindleborrow died Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at her home. She was born Jan. 23, 1939, in Limestone County. She was a homemaker and had lived in Decatur for 30 years.

She is survived by her husband, Harry Shindleborrow; one son, Donnie Terry of Decatur; two daughters, Patricia "Penney" Zimmerman of Springhill, Fla., and Elesia Burks of Decatur; one step-son, Chris Shindleborrow of Indianapolis; one step-daughter, Katrina Matthews of Decatur; four brothers, Willie Gatlin of Decatur, Buren Gatlin of Phoenix, Ariz., Calvin Gatlin of Hartselle and Buford Gatlin of Eloy, Ariz.; five sisters, Evie Cox of Chicago, Ruby Hall of Hartselle, Dora Smith and Mary Morgan, both of Eloy, Ariz., and Liz Simmons of Phoenix; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley, P.O. Box 2745, Decatur, AL 35602.

Homer Bell
68, retired quality control supervisor
CEDARTOWN, Ga. -- Funeral for Homer Floyd Bell, 68, of Cedartown will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Gammage Funeral Home with the Rev. Homer Hulsey and the Rev. Marvin Jackson officiating.

Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery in Tallapoosa, Ga., with full military honors. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Bell died Thursday, June 8, 2000, at his home. He was born July 6, 1931, in Jefferson County to Ora Grimes Bell and Homer W. Bell. He was a retired quality control supervisor with ITT Lester Aluminum Dye Casting and a retired Army veteran. He was the stepfather of Wayne Thompson.

He is survived by his wife, Ola Morris Bell; four sons, Robin Bell of Hartselle, Ronald Bell of Moreno Valley, Calif., Ken Bell of Rome, Ga., and David Bell of Cedartown; two daughters, Pamela Bryson of Hueytown and Rebecca Worthy of Hartselle; two stepdaughters, Diane Aldridge of Tallapoosa, Ga., and Laverne White of Rome, Ga.; one brother, Douglas Bell of Bessemer; two sisters, Bobby Hyche of Calera and Christine Loyd of Shelby; 17 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of Brewster Cleveland Post 86.

Susan 'Joyce' Clark
50, Tru-Line employee

TRINITY -- Funeral for Susan "Joyce" Cottingham Clark, 50, of Trinity, will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with Bill Pullen officiating.

Burial will be in Clardy Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Ms. Clark died Friday, June 9, 2000, at her home. She was born Nov. 22, 1949, in Lawrence County to Wiley and Mattie Sue Cottingham. She was an employee of Tru-Line Manufacturing.

She is survived by four brothers, Jerry R. Payne of Panama City, Fla., Ross E. Payne of Austin, Texas, and Louie Cottingham Sr. and Neal Cottingham, both of Decatur; and two sisters, Corrine Lawrence of Trinity and Sue E. Hatfield of Vicksburg, Mich.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Cottingham, Willie Holmes Jr., Jeremy Eady, Mike Berryhill and Tony Roberts.

Clara Bell Cramer
86, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Clara Bell "Poodle" Cramer, 86, of Rogersville, will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Oliver Church of Christ with Daniel Ridinger, Pat Gibbons and Charles Kretzer officiating.

Burial will be in Wallace Cemetery with Spry Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cramer died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence. She was born July 29, 1913, in Lauderdale County. She was a homemaker and member of Oliver Church of Christ. She was the widow of Buford "Fuzz" Cramer and the mother of Harvey Lynn Cramer.

She is survived by one daughter, Patsy Cramer Bedingfield of Rogersville; one sister, Mamie "Cot" Morrison Chandler of Rogersville; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Trent Bedingfield, Derrick Cramer, Scott Cramer, Brandon Kennemur, Aubrey Neeley, Forrest Reeves and Brett Reeves.

Memorials may be made to Oliver Church of Christ Library or the Rogersville Emergency Unit.

Florence Dillard
98, homemaker

Graveside service for Florence Sullivan Dillard, 98, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Bessemer with the Rev. Hal Noble officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery after the service.

Mrs. Dillard died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at her home. She was born Nov. 3, 1901, in Shelby County to Laurie Hartsfield Sullivan and David G. Sullivan. She was a homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church in Bessemer and the widow of W. Clarence Dillard.

She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Pettey of Decatur and Mary Kathryn Stapp of Orlando, Fla.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Robert H. Pettey Jr., Christopher A. Pettey, William M. Pettey, Thomas W. Stapp Jr., Richard D. Pettey, Robert H. Petty III, and Gregory M. Pettey.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley or the building fund of Central United Methodist Church.

Everett Grantland
93, retired shop manager

Funeral for Everett Clyde Grantland, 93, of Decatur will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwayne McDuff officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Grantland died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born April 13, 1907, in Morgan County to Margaret Rebecca Kyle Grantland and Thomas Roy Grantland. He was a retired shop manager from Lynn Layton Chevrolet and the widower of Florence Blanch Grantland.

He is survived by one son, Kenneth W. Grantland of Cocoa, Fla.; three daughters, Mary Jean Sharp and Jearldean Holmes, both of Decatur, and Brenda Grantland of Mill Valley, Calif.; two brothers, A.B. Grantland of Mims, Fla., and T.R. Grantland Jr. of Morris; one sister, Alene Harris of Gardendale; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Betty Cook Hardy
80, retired garment worker

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Betty Cook Hardy, 80, of Athens will be today at 2 p.m. at Athens City Cemetery with Doug Matlock officiating and Spry Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Hardy died Friday, June 9, 2000, at Limestone Health Facility. She as born Dec. 23, 1919, in Giles County, Tenn. She was a member of the Church of Christ and a retiree of Athens Garment Co.

She is survived by two sons, Edwin Cook of Elkmont and Butch Cook of Tanner; one stepdaughter, Doris Reid of Athens; one brother, David Cox of Athens; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Cook, Ronnie Messer, Greg Cook, Clay Cook, Mike Norwood and Jerry Taylor.

Lillian Jackson
93, retired teacher

MOULTON -- Funeral for Lillian Summers Jackson, 93, of Town Creek will be today at 3 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with Jackie Burney officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

Mrs. Jackson died Friday, June 9, 2000, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. She was born Sept. 2, 1906, in Lawrence County. She was a graduate of Colbert County High School and Florence State Teachers College and had retired from Lawrence County Schools after having taught for 40 years. She was the widow of Claude Jackson.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Billy Burney II, Brent Burney, Jay Burney, Steve Carter, David Pettey and Jonathan Summers.

Jacob Kennemore
66, retired mechanic

ATHENS -- Funeral for Jacob Kennemore, 66, of Athens will be Monday at 1 p.m. at People's Funeral Home with the Rev. Clifford Mays officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Creek Cemetery.

Mr. Kennemore died Thursday, June 8, 2000, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born April 22, 1934, in Limestone County and was a retired mechanic.

He is survived by three sisters, Laura Yarbrough of Athens, Elnora Bailey of Elkmont and Danella Johnston of Hampton, Ohio.

Jimmy Wayne Nicholas
31, off-shore construction worker

DORA -- Funeral for Jimmy Wayne Nicholas, 31, of Dora, will be today at 1 p.m. at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Gibson officiating.

Burial will be in Shanghi Cemetery.

Mr. Nicholas died Wednesday, June 7, 2000, in Louisiana. He was born Aug. 30, 1968, in Hammond, Ind. He was a 1986 graduate of West Jefferson High School and was employed as an offshore construction worker. He was the brother of Lori Nicholas Deaton and the grandson of Sherman and Hazel Pair and Alvie and Willie Mae Nicholas and the stepson of Bruce E. Lindley.

He is survived by two sons, Zane Nicholas of Cullman and Justin Vinning of Moody; one daughter, Carly Nicholas of Cullman; his mother and stepfather, Carolyn and Paul Cobble of Dora; his father, Wade Nicholas Sr. of Quinton; three brothers, Wade Nicholas Jr. of Quinton, and Scotty and Jerry Nicholas, both of Decatur; and two sisters, Penny Alexander of Quinton and Sonya Garate of Dora.

Teddy Nix
34, carpenter

TRINITY -- Funeral for Teddy Jefferson Nix, 34, of Moulton will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Old Liberty Church with the Rev. Larry Crumpton and the Rev. Sylvester Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Old Liberty Cemetery with Parkway Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Nix died Friday, June 9, 2000, in Lawrence County. He was born April 10, 1966, in Benton Harbor, Mich.

He was a self-employed carpenter.

He is survived by two sons, Dustin Nix and Brandon Nix, both of Lakeland, Fla.; one daughter, Ashley Nix of Tennessee; his parents, Raymond and Syble Nix Jr., of Moulton; seven sisters, Pauline Richard, Bonnie Mitchell and Wanda Bradford, all of Town Creek, Carolyn Cottingham of Trinity, Diane Borden and Brenda Kirby, both of Moulton, and Vickie Kelley of Hartselle.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Borden, Chris Nix, Randle Horton, Derek Parrish, Jason Cross, Jimmie Hood, Sonny Daniels, Anthony Peebles and Jamie Butler.
