TUSCUMBIA -- Funeral for Leroy "Daddy Roy" Almon, 86, of Town Creek will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church in Town Creek with the Rev. Bernard LeCorn officiating.

Burial will be in Landersville Cemetery with Thompson and Son Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Almon died Monday, June 26, 2000, at his home. He was born Jan. 14, 1914, in Lawrence County to Arthur Almon and Modie Lee Marnes Almon. A lifelong resident of Lawrence County, he retired from Davis Construction as a helper and was a member of Freeman Tabernacle Baptist Church in Moulton.

He is survived by his wife, Annie Mae Almon; four sons, Leo Almon of Madison, Taris Almon of Decatur, and Otis Almon and Willie Almon, both of Town Creek; three daughters, Modean Steward, Curlie Mae Langham and Ruby Jones, all of Town Creek; two brothers, John Almon and Taris Almon, both of Ohio; three sisters, Augusta Almon, Catherine Freeman and Modean McGhee, all of Ohio; 45 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Marcella H. Burns
77, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Marcella H. "Marsha" Burns, 77, of Athens will be Friday at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Athens with the Rev. Steven Screws officiating and McConnell Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church Friday at 1:30 p.m.

Mrs. Burns died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at her home. She was born March 10, 1923, in Limestone County. She was a homemaker, a member of First United Methodist Church of Athens and United Methodist Women's Fellowship, and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the American Red Cross at Athens-Limestone Hospital.

She is survived by her husband, Howard D. Burns Sr.; one son, Howard "DeWitt" Burns Jr. of Athens; one daughter, Katherine Joyce Boissier of Paris; one sister, Joyce Layman of Athens; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Athens or Hospice of Limestone County.

Merle Jean Kemp
74, homemaker

CROSSETT, Ark. -- Funeral for Merle Jean Kemp, 74, of Decatur was Monday at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. David Newberry officiating.

Burial was in Pinewood Memorial Cemetery with Jones Funeral Home directing. Shelton Funeral Home of Decatur handled local arrangements.

Mrs. Kemp died Saturday, June 24, 2000, at home. She was born July 13, 1925, in Ashley County, Ark., to Howard Estelle and Helen McDougald Estelle. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Decatur.

She is survived by her husband, Leonard Kemp; two daughters, Janet L. Thompson of Decatur and Judith C. Burnett of Crossett; two brothers, Leland Estelle of Crossett and John W. Estelle of Salem, Ore.; one sister, Mary R. Lupa of Two Harbors, Minn.; and two grandchildren.

Becky Flanagan Little
32, restaurant hostess

MOULTON -- Funeral for Becky Flanagan Little, 32, of the Flat Rock community will be Friday at 2 p.m. at New Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Houston officiating.

Burial will be in Hardshell Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Little died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at her home. She was born Aug. 11, 1967, in Lawrence County to Gilbert Flanagan and Bobbie Flanagan. She was a member of New Zion Baptist Church and a restaurant hostess at Oh! Bryan's Family Steak House in Mount Hope. She was the sister of the late Belinda Flanagan.

She is survived by her husband, Micheal Little; one son, Shane Little of Flat Rock; one daughter, Miranda Little of Flat Rock; her parents of Town Creek; four brothers, Tommy Summers, Glenn Flanagan and Greg Flanagan, all of Town Creek, and Gary Flanagan of Mount Hope; one sister, Cheryl Pate of Town Creek; and her grandmother, Ila Summers of Town Creek.

Pallbearers will be Adam Lovett, Tyrone Pierce, Gared Flanagan, Patrick Flanagan, Jeremy New and Daniel Little.

Annie Jo Long
64, homemaker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Annie Jo Long, 64, of Danville will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Sonrise Baptist Church with Randy Milligan officiating.

Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Long died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at Baptist Medical Center Princeton in Birmingham. She was born Jan. 25, 1936, in Morgan County to Charlie Luther Clemons and Marie Clemons. She was a homemaker and a member of Sonrise Baptist Church. She was the widow of Richard O. Long and the mother of the late Mark Long.

She is survived by three sons, Charlie Long of Athens, Richard Long of Danville and Michael Long of Hartselle; three daughters, Charlotte Posey of Trinity, Rita Blankenship of Mount Hope and Nancy Nix of Falkville; her mother of Falkville; two brothers, John W. Clemons of Hartselle and Benny Clemons of Moulton; three sisters, Evelyn Harville of Hartselle, Mildred Terry of Michigan and Lucille Lackey of Hartselle; and 11 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Clayton Ledlow, Tommy Blankenship, Mike Baker, Mark Griffith, Arvil Nix and Bill Brady.

Grandsons will be honorary pallbearers.

William 'Bill' Stanton Shadrick
86, electrician

SYDNEY, Australia -- Memorial service for William "Bill" Stanton Shadrick, 86, of Sydney will be Sunday at 11 a.m. at Shoal Creek Baptist Church in Priceville with the Rev. Harold Fanning officiating.

Mr. Shadrick died Wednesday, June 28, 2000, in Sydney. He was born July 17, 1913, in Tennessee. He lived in Somerville and Sydney. He was a retired electrician and a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church. He was the father of the late Wayne Robert Shadrick and the brother of the late Walter Taylor and Clayton D. Taylor.

He is survived by one daughter, Wendy Elizabeth Jordan of Huntsville; one brother, Henry Shadrick of Somerville; one sister, Dolly Tyler of Decatur; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. The body will be in the Kingdom Hall one hour before the service.

Mrs. Long died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born May 13, 1938, in Lawrence County, to Richard and Nelly Williams Brawley. She was a homemaker and a Jehovah's Witness. She attended Kingdom Hall in Decatur and was the publisher of the Good News of God's Kingdom.

She is survived by her husband, Freddie Lee Long; three sons, George Hill of Memphis, Freddie Long Jr. of Decatur and Cedric Long of Jackson, Tenn.; four daughters, Alvia Harris of Stone Mountain, Ga., Barbara Douglass of Jonesboro, Ga., and Yterria Hightower and Vunzetta Thompson, both of Decatur; two brothers, Flem Otis Brawley of El Paso, Texas, and Ben Brawley of Iuka, Miss.; one sister, Lillie Mae Whiteside of Chicago, Ill; and nine grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Parham, Chuck Parham, Franklin Hightower, Cedric Long, Freddie Long Jr., and Houston Goins.

Lorena Maxine Maze
64, homemaker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Lorena Maxine Maze, 64, of Somerville will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Soul Harbor Baptist Church with the Rev. Ferrell Roberts and the Rev. Van Wray officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Blue Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Maze died Thursday, June 29, 2000, at her residence. She was born Jan. 21, 1936, in St. Clair County to Bud Marcus Campbell and Dolly Mae Hall Campbell.

She was a homemaker and member of Liberty Baptist Church in Lacey's Spring. She was the widow of James Louis Maze, sister of the late Ernest Campbell and half sister of the late Christine Lewis.

She is survived by one daughter, Vickey Maze Daugette of Somerville; three sisters, Mildred Beck of Florida and Mary Everett and Ruth Pendegraph, both of Birmingham; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Charles Boardman, Alvin Morgan, Chad Collins, John Sharp, David Fuller and Freeman Pendegraph.

Members of S.A.V.E.S. Inc. will be honorary pallbearers.

Mollie McGuire
86, homemaker

Funeral for Mollie McGuire, 86, of Town Creek will be Saturday at noon at Red Bank Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas R. Sparks officiating.

Burial will be in Rocky Hill Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 at the funeral home, and the body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. McGuire died Monday, June 26, 2000, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born April 22, 1914, in Lawrence County to Tom Wilson and Mollie Cooper Wilson. She was a member of Red Bank Missionary Baptist Church, a member of the Order of Eastern Star-Northstar Chapter 55, and a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Pearlie Wilson of Russellville and Nellie Williams of Decatur; one sister, Annie Mason of Courtland; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Marvin Russell
81, Redstone Arsenal retiree

ATHENS -- Funeral for Marvin Russell, 81, of Elkmont will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with John Norman officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Russell died Thursday, June 29, 2000, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born April 19, 1919, in Limestone County. He was an Army veteran of World War II and retired from Redstone Arsenal as an ammunition handler.

He is survived by his wife, Ilene Russell; one brother, Aubrey Russell of Elkmont; and one sister, Velma Roberts of Salt Lake City.

Pallbearers will be Greg Durham, David Blankenship, Billy Wayne Pope, Eddy Tennison, John Durham, and Kevin Dean.

William Stanton Shadrick
86, electrician

SYDNEY, Australia -- William "Bill" Stanton Shadrick, 86, of Sydney died Wednesday, June 28, 2000, in Sydney. He was born July 17, 1913, in Tennessee. He lived in Somerville and Sydney.
