HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Polly Phillips, 58, of Hartselle was Tuesday at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Jess White officiating.

Burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery.

Mrs. Phillips died Saturday, July 15, 2000, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born July 15, 1942, in Marion County to Judge German Lewis and Annie Mae Cox Lewis. She was a homemaker and a member of the Newcomer's Club and First Assembly of God in Hartselle. She was the sister of the late Marlene Cooper Lewis, Dan Richard Lewis and Henry Jerome Lewis.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Phillips; one son, Tracy Poling of Guin; two brothers, Harlan Lewis of Spanish Fort and Ray Pinkston Lewis of Tallahassee, Fla.; and four sisters, Margie Maylene Kelley of Adrian, Mich., Germie Nell White of Cullman, Nellie Jean Nix of Bryan, Ohio, and Judy Ann Taylor of South Bend, Ind.

Pallbearers were Bruce Phillips, Harlin Lewis, Bobby Hill, Rex Lewis, Tracy Poling and Ray Lewis Jr.

Lillian Maurine Pope
77, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Lillian Maurine Pope, 77, of Athens will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. Rick Craft and the Rev. Dewey Craft officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Pope died Tuesday, July 18, 2000, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born April 7, 1923, in Tupelo, Miss. She was a homemaker and attended First United Pentecostal Church in Athens. She was the mother of the late Dale Pearce, the grandmother of the Chris Pearce, and the sister of the late Octor Gray, Stacey Gray, Casey Gray, Dalton Gray, Marvin Gray and Ouida Gray.

She is survived by her husband, Grady Pope; one son, Hershell Pearce of Fulton, Miss; three daughters, Kathey Caldwell and Lesia Tate, both of Athens, and Diane Glenn of Pittsboro, Kan.; one sister, Mozelle Loden of Tupelo; and 17 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John Posey, Will Beujter, Blake Allison, Barry Tate, Justin Harris and Bo Sylvester.

Retha Lee Currin
74, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Retha Lee Currin, 74, of Athens will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Robert Fudge and Dr. Carl Witty officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Currin died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born June 4, 1926, in Limestone County. She was a homemaker and a member of Ephesus Church of Christ.

She is survived by her husband, L.W. Currin; one son, Ben Currin of Athens; one daughter, Jean Currin Hudson of Athens; and one grandson.

Pallbearers will be Wilburn Green haw, Ellis Dunnavant, Corky Jones, Ryan Knight, Donnie Rogers and Joel Lynn.

Elders and deacons of Ephesus Church of Christ will be honorary pallbearers.

Shelbie Isaac Hill
84, Weaver Broom Co. retiree

TRINITY -- Funeral for Shelbie Isaac Hill, 84, of Franklin, Tenn., will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with Kirk Bobo officiating.

Burial will be in Red Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Hill died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at Williamson County Medical Hospital. He was born Aug. 9, 1915, in Tennessee to Isaac Hill and Sarah Hill. He was retired from Weaver Broom Factory.

He is survived by three sons, Lonnie Ray Hill of Franklin, Shelby Hill of Nashville and Mike Hill of Decatur; three daughters, Johnnie Belinda Willis, Evonda Day and Sandra Hill, all of Moulton; one brother, Joe Hill of Georgia; two sisters, Maggie Kirby of Chicago and Gracie Sawyer of Bowdon, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chris Hill, Norman Willis, Ronnie Borden, Lee Morris, Dale Morris and David Delk.

Hugh Jefferson Hinson Sr.
78, machinist foreman

MONROEVILLE -- Funeral for Hugh Jefferson Hinson Sr., 78, of Excel will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Excel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wayne Dean and the Rev. Harry Giles officiating.

Burial will be in Excel Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Hinson died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at his home. He was a native of Monroe County and a lifelong resident of Excel. He was a member of Excel United Methodist Church and had worked at Vanity Fair Mills as a machinist foreman.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Burt Hinson; one son, Hugh Jefferson "Sonny" Hinson Jr. of Decatur; one daughter, Gwen Hinson

Scruggs of Excel; two sisters, Lottie Cohron of Pensacola, Fla., and Ruby Lee of Frisco City; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family requests memorials be made to the Excel United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.

George Foster Wynn

Funeral for George Foster Wynn, 86, of Jasper, Tenn., will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Windell Shirley officiating.

Burial will be at 4:30 in Shipp Cemetery in Stevenson. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mr. Wynn died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, in Grandview Medical Center in Jasper. He was born March 19, 1914, in Stevenson to Margaret Elizabeth Hess Wynn and Andrew Jackson Wynn. He was the widower of Sophia Mae McCrary Wynn and father of the late Carl Foster Wynn.

He is survived by one son, Millard B. Wynn of Decatur; two daughters, Mary E. Moore of Tracey City, Tenn., and Anne Yarbrough of Athens; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Fallon Victoria Bolton
21 months
Funeral for Fallon Victoria Bolton, 21 months, of Falkville will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Godbee officiating.

Burial will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

The child died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born Sept. 24, 1998, in Decatur.

She is survived by her mother, Shannon Birdwell of Falkville; her father, Kenneth Bolton of Decatur; her stepfather, Gary Birdwell of Falkville; one sister, Skylar Bolton of Falkville; her grandparents, Ronald and Judy Dotson of Priceville, and Waymon and Linda Bolton of Decatur; and her great-grandparents, Wiladean Chambers of Decatur, and Leldon and Marie Smith of Priceville.

Mamie Frances Brackeen
70, retired bookstore manager

ATHENS -- Funeral for Mamie Frances Brackeen, 70, of Athens will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Bob Waldron and Sewell Hall officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Brackeen died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at her home. She was born July 29, 1929, in Limestone County. She was a retired manager of C.E.I. Bookstore in Athens and a member of Eastside Church of Christ. She was the widow of Harvell Kenneth Brackeen and the sister of the late Grady Buren Craig.

She is survived by one daughter, Marvella Adams of Athens; two brothers, James Buford Craig and James Thomas Craig, Jr., both of Athens; two sisters, Nellie Dean Mitchell and Lena Magdalene Richter, both of Athens; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be George Craig, Dennis Craig, Greg Steele, Kenneth Russell, Tony Richter and Tim Richter.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County or Athens Bible School.

Lester C. 'Buddy' Craig
76, retired gas station owner

ATHENS -- Funeral for Lester C. "Buddy" Craig, 76, of Athens was to be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Doug Matlock, Guy McDaniel and Randall Hammock officiating.

Burial was to be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Craig died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born in Limestone County on May 14, 1924, to Mack and Lillie Craig. He was the former owner of Craig's Texaco and a member of the O'Neal Church of Christ. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a retired member of the Alabama National Guard, a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. He was the brother of the late Aldie Craig, Martha Jan Rainey and Versie Moran.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Freeman Craig; two daughters, Linda McCurry and Kay Hobbs, both of Athens; two sisters, Pauline Britton and Nellie Birdsong, both of Athens; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mika Hamilton, Craig Hamilton, Joey Hobbs, Jamie Hamilton, Anthony Brown and Theo Russell.

Honorary pallbearers will be elders and deacons of O'Neal Church of Christ and members of the American Legion.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or a favorite charity.

Joe Lee Jackson

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Joe Lee Jackson, 38, of Hartselle, who died Thursday, July 20, 2000, in Morgan County, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Complete arrangements will be announced later.

Lila Louise Lang
88, retired poultry worker

ALBERTVILLE -- Funeral for Lila Louise Lang, 88, of Albertville will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Albertville Funeral Home with the Rev. James Spears and the Rev. Henry Coker officiating.

Burial will be in Douglas Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lang died Thursday, July 20, 2000, at Marshall Medical Center South. She was born March 10, 1912, in Madison County to William Eakes and Inez Flanagan Eakes. She retired as a poultry worker from Gold Kist Inc.

She is survived by five sons, Thomas J. Lang of Harvest, Danny Lang of Tampa, Fla., and Alan Lang, Rayburn Lang and Cecil Lang, all of Albertville; three daughters, Ivarene Dean Bennett of Crossville, Sue Maltbie of Albertville and Roma Rose of Moulton; three sisters, Clara Mae Cothren of Ardmore, Inez Burns of Crossville and Ernestine Nichols of Attalla; 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ray Lang, Joseph Reeves, Stanley Reeves, Gary Dooley, Anthony Malone, Jesse Barrentine and David Noblitt.

James E. Porter
90, retired construction worker

ATHENS -- Funeral for James E. Porter, 90, of Athens was to be today at 11 a.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Elton Jackson officiating.

Burial was to be in Athens City Cemetery.

Mr. Porter died Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at National Healthcare in Columbia, Tenn. He was born Dec. 16, 1909, in Limestone County. He was a retired construction worker and a member of the Grinder's Creek Church of Christ in Hoenwald, Tenn.

He is survived by his sister, Kate Thompson of Hoenwald; and nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Buel Clem, Willard Brown, Melvis Adams, Darrell Norman, Don Carter and Earl Morris.
