Charles Joseph Blahut Sr.

ATHENS -- Funeral for Charles Joseph Blahut Sr., 50, of Athens will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Lee Jarrett officiating.

Burial will be in Bottom Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Blahut died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born Feb. 3, 1949, in Chicago. He was a mechanic and a member of New Life Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Blahut; two sons, Charles J. Blahut Jr. of Chicago and Roy Wayne Moore of Athens; one daughter, Barbara J. Warren of Athens; his mother, Barbara Frank of Athens; one stepson, Danny Wayne Moore of Athens; one stepdaughter, Susie Ann Moore of Athens; one sister, Mary Alice Miller of Chicago; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Charles Blahut Jr., James Warren, Troy Kunz, Eddie Larsen, Donnie Jarrett and Tony Miller.

Henrietta 'Seal' Gurley
82, homemaker

Funeral for Henrietta "Seal" Gurley, 82, of Somerville will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mount Mariah United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeffrey Rainey officiating.

Burial will be in Curry's Chapel Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Gurley died Monday, July 26, 1999, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born June 27, 1917, in Morgan County, to Luke and Roxie Draper Emerson. She was a homemaker and a member of Curry's Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.

She is survived by three sons, Lord Gurley, William Gurley and George Gurley, all of Detroit, Mich.; one daughter, Vester M. Pears of Houston, Texas; one brother, Jim Emerson of Somerville; three sisters, Arlene Orr, Roxie Gurley and Sally Sharpley, all of Somerville; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Marvin William Mabbitt
76, factory laborer

HANCEVILLE -- Funeral for Marvin William Mabbitt, 76, of Hanceville will be Friday at 9 a.m. at Hanceville Funeral Home with Masons officiating.

Burial will be in Cullman Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Mabbitt died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at Woodland Medical Center in Cullman. He was born Feb. 2, 1923, in Anderson, Ind., to John W. and Lula Mabbitt. He was a factory laborer with Nicholson File.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Mabbitt; two daughters, Linda King of Westland, Mich., and Marilyn Pryor of Eva; one brother, Loyd F. Mabbitt of Anderson; six granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren.

Patricia Ann Moore
48, waitress

ATHENS -- Funeral for Patricia Ann Moore, 48, of Athens will be Friday at 10 a.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Dewey Craft officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 3 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Moore died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at her home. She was born March 25, 1951, in Limestone County, where she was a lifelong resident. She was a waitress and attended First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Shane Jarrett and Tim Russell, both of Athens; three brothers, Hack Hastings, Clayton Hastings, both of Athens, and C.L. Hastings of Minor Hill, Tenn.; one sister, Marie Cluxton of Athens; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Alton Nix, Michael Pylant, Jamie Adams, Andy Dugger, Mike Gray and Van Lankster.

Barbara Ann Raney
60, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Barbara Ann Raney, 60, of Athens was to be today at 3:30 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Bob White and James Adams officiating.

Burial was to be in Sandlin Cemetery.

Mrs. Raney died Monday, July 26, 1999, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born Sept. 19, 1938, in Limestone County. She was a homemaker and a member of Shanghai Baptist Church. She was the mother of the late Melissa McKinney and the sister of the late Doyle Green .

She is survived by her husband, Virgil Raney of Ardmore; one son, Marty Thompson of Summersville, Ky.; four daughters, Sharon Mason of Athens, Michele White of South Carolina, Marie Haggermaker of Lester and Stephanie Lloyd of Athens; two brothers, Harold Green e and Danny Green , both of Athens; one sister, Sandra Griffin of Elkmont; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be Anthony Green , Matthew White, Brandon Thompson, Sidney McCune, Derril Robertson and Darrin Jones.

Wayne N. Taylor Sr.
65, retired mason

SULLIVAN, Ind. -- Funeral for Wayne N. Taylor, 65, of Graysville, Ind., will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Banks and Brust Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Branson officiating.

Burial will be in Crow Cemetery at Union Chapel. The family will receive friends today from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday before the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Taylor died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at his home. He was born Nov. 3, 1933, in Sullivan to Harlen "Hutch" and Ruth Nelson Taylor. He was a retired, self-employed mason at F&AM 694 in Beech Grove. He was a member of Valley Mills Christian Church in Indianapolis. He was the widower of Roberta Brown Taylor and the father of the late Debbie Cambridge.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene Gilliam Taylor; two sons, Wayne Taylor Jr. and John Taylor, both of Indianapolis; three daughters, Rebecca Padilla, Barbara Hudson and Jennifer Stevens, all of Indianapolis; three stepsons, Larry Gilliam of Trenton, Ohio, Douglas Gilliam of Hartselle and Brad Gilliam of Plainfield, Ind.; two stepdaughters, Penny Shipp of Vista, Calif., and Kristi Clark of Spencer, Ind.; five sisters, Caroline Banther, Jennie Hamblin and Harriett Smith, all of Sullivan, and Barbara Pinkston and Norma Leverette, both of Indianapolis; 13 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Landi Alana Torreblanca

Rosary service for infant Landi Alana Torreblanca of Decatur will be tonight at 6 at Shelton Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends after the service until 8 p.m. Burial will be in Acapulco, Mexico.

The infant died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Aug. 30, 1998, in Decatur to Celerino Torreblanca and Maria Alana Altamirano.

She is survived by her parents; one sister, Daisy Alondra Torreblanca of Decatur; and her grandparents, Hilario Altamirano and Aurelia Rodriguez, both of Carrizal Delavia, Mexico, and Gustina Javier of San Antonio, Mexico.

Odie Paul Hargrove
82, retired carpenter
ATHENS -- Funeral for Odie Paul Hargrove, 82, of Athens will be today at 11 a.m. at Fairview Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Inman officiating.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery with McConnell Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Hargrove died Thursday, July 29, 1999, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born Aug. 15, 1916, in Limestone County. He was a retired carpenter and a deacon at Fairview Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Amogene Wales Hargrove; one son, Randall Mark Hargrove of Athens; two daughters, Betty Vaughn of Tifton, Ga., and Nell Kilpatrick of Athens; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Malcolm Schrimsher, Thomas Uselton, Clifford Schrimsher, Pettus Menefee, Homer Schrimsher and Ronnie White.

Lucille Horton
83, homemaker

Funeral for Lucille Horton, 83, of Madison will be Sunday at noon at New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Terry Ragland officiating.

Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Horton died Thursday, July 29, 1999, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Dec. 17, 1915, in Madison County to Will Terry and Estella Kirby. She was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Harris Chapter No. 633 of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by one son, Cleveland Rice of Decatur; two brothers, Luther Cole of Chattannooga and Ed Caudle of Madison; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Elders and deacons of New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church will be pallbearers.

Edith Lurine Johnson

ATHENS -- Funeral for Edith Lurine Johnson, 71, of Athens will be today at 2 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Bowden officiating.

Burial will be in O'Neal Cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson died Thursday, July 29, 1999, at her home. She was born July 29, 1928, in Limestone County. She was a homemaker and a member of Chapel Baptist Church in Decatur. She was the widow of Leonard Johnson and Leonard Green hall.

She is survived by three sons, Richard Earl Green hall of Moulton, Lenny Green hall Jr. of Hartselle and Ferrell Wade Green hall of Boston; four daughters, Linda Sue Wilson, Janice Green hall and Marcia J. Gulley, all of Athens, and Dale Jean Chambers of Decatur; three brothers, Floyd A. Ray, Leonard Ray and Milton Ray, all of Athens; four sisters, Kathleen Tuck of Ardmore, Tenn., Betty M. Tuck of Tanner, Thelma Roberts of Decatur and Hazel A. Teague of Athens; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Dutton, Jeff Chambers, Lenny Green hall, Richard Green hall, David Teague and Shawn Ray.

Grandsons and in-laws will be honorary pallbearers.
