ATHENS -- Memorial service for Thomas G. Moran, 51, of Elkmont will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Bee Springs United Methodist Church in McBurg, Tenn., with Robert Denton officiating.

Mr. Moran died Aug. 5, 2000, in Washington. He was an engineer for Stone & Webster Contracting Co. in the nuclear industry.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa Moran; one son, Bobby Furtado of Ardmore, Tenn; three daughters, Tara Clinard of Elkmont, Courtney Moran and Megan Moran, both of Decatur, Ill.; his parents, Bill and Ruth Janus of Thousand Palms, Calif.; two brothers, Pat Moran of Germantown, Md., and Howard Moran of LaQuinta, Calif.; and two sisters, Pam Winsel of Evansville, Ind., and Debbie Janus of Huntington Beach, Calif.

Hettie J. Boyd
91, homemaker
MOULTON -- Funeral for Hettie J. Boyd, 91, of Town Creek will be Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with Wayne Gean and Donald Kidd officiating.

Burial will be in King Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Boyd died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at Shoals Nursing Home in Tuscumbia. She was born Sept. 22, 1908, in Lawrence County to John Johnson and Ethel Walker Johnson. She was a homemaker and a member of Hatton Church of Christ. She was the widow of Ira J. Boyd and the sister of the late Elzo Massey, J.W. Johnson, Beaman Johnson, Burl Johnson, Luer Johnson and Walker Johnson.

Survivors include one daughter, Leoma Lowery of Town Creek; three sisters, Melba Wilson and Sybil Parker, both of Florence, and Bobbie Sue Haygood of Hatton; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be David Wilson, Greg Wilson, Paul Johnson, Edwin Johnson, Demsey Johnson and Roger Parker.

Maude Shore Miller
82, retired librarian

ATHENS -- Funeral for Maude Shore Miller, 82, of Athens was Sunday at 3 p.m. at Copeland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Phillip Babcock officiating.

Burial was in Copeland Cemetery with Limestone Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Miller died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at Limestone Lodge. She was born Jan. 29, 1918, in Winston-Salem, N.C. She was the retired 20-year librarian of Athens Public Library, a member of the Athens Library Board from 1992 to 1995, a member of Copeland Presbyterian Church, where she served as a session member from 1992 to 1995 and from 1996 to 1998, and a former librarian at both Toccoa Fall College and Bryan College in Dayton, Tenn. She was the widow of the Rev. James Furman Miller and the mother of the late Tim Miller.

Survivors include two sons, James Furman Miller Jr. of Branson, Mo., and David Clarke Miller of Athens; one brother, Ernest Shore of Winston-Salem; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers were men of Copeland Presbyterian Church.

Memorials may be made to the Maude Miller Fund at Copeland Presbyterian Church, 27085 Copeland Road, Athens, AL 35613.

William Robert Sanders
90, building contractor

Funeral for William Robert Sanders, 90, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Walt Schmidt officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Sanders died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at St. Martin's in the Pines of Birmingham. He was born Dec. 31, 1909, in Somerville to Ruben E. Sanders and Eliza Belle Campbell Sanders. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church for 42 years. He was a self-employed building contractor and a World War II Navy veteran.

Survivors include one son, Jim Masters of Summerfield, Fla.; two daughters, Joyce Sanders of Birmingham and Billie Masters of Summerfield; one stepdaughter, Geraldine Miner of Eva; two grandsons; five great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Masters, Dan Campbell, Steven Masters, Terry Gray, Jim Masters and Mike Miner.

Hollis D. Smith
84, retired Sears manager

MOULTON -- Funeral for Hollis D. Smith, 84, of Birmingham will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom McClure officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Hope Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at Baptist Montclair Hospital in Birmingham. He was born Aug. 27, 1915, in Mount Hope to Howard Smith and Lucy Wear Smith. He retired as manager of the tire department at a Sears store in Birmingham after 33 years. He was an Army-Air Corps veteran of World War II. He maintained residences in Birmingham and Mount Hope.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth C. Smith.

Friends will be pallbearers.

Frank Suenio
72, service technician

HARTSELLE -- Memorial service for Frank Suenio, 72, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Bicentennial Chapel on the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville with Chaplain Barry Presley officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Suenio died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at his home. He was born July 7, 1928, in Lahina, Hawaii, to Simplicio Suenio and Marcellina Casim Suenio. He was a retired service technician for Sears and served 23 years in the United States Army.

Survivors include his wife, Ingrid Suenio; one son, Frankie W. Suenio of Decatur; three daughters, Vivian Voglino of Neptune, N.J., Clara Cory of Decatur and Carmen Davenport of Hartselle; one sister, Nora Garma of Maui, Hawaii; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Brittany Rescue or to any animal fund of your choice.

Lottie Hough Burleson
103, milliner

VICKSBURG, Miss. -- Graveside service for Lottie Hough Burleson, 103, of Vicksburg, formerly of Morgan County, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Clifton McInnis officiating and Fisher-Riles Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Burleson died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. She was born March 30, 1897, in Morgan County to Philip N. Hough and Elizabeth Walling Hough. She was a milliner and a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. She was the widow of Richard A. Burleson.

Survivors include three nephews, Charles B. Hough of Decatur, Phillip N. Hendrix of Dunnellon, Fla., and E.P. Webb of Woodstock, Ga.; and five nieces, Mollie A. Hendrix, Ruth H. Thomas and Othello H. Guthrie, all of Huntsville, and Mary Ann Drake and Sylvia Brazelton, both of Decatur.

Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 900 S. St., Vicksburg, MS 39180.

Roger Thomas Copeland
55, owner of Copeland's Auto Sales, Roger's Pawn Shop

ATHENS -- Memorial service for Roger Thomas Copeland, 55, of Athens will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. William Robert Sharman III and Benjy Taylor officiating and McConnell Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Copeland died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at his home. He was born May 23, 1945, in Limestone County. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and owner of Copeland's Auto Sales and Roger's Pawn Shop in Athens.

Survivors include two brothers, Steve Copeland and Mark Copeland, both of Athens; and his stepmother, Dorothy Copeland of Athens.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County or the American Cancer Society.

Vivian Iris Crow
62, registered nurse

MOULTON -- Funeral for Vivian Iris Crow, 62, of Danville was to be today at 2 p.m. at Elliot Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Steadham and the Rev. Avery Long officiating.

Burial was to be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Crow died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at her home. She was born Dec. 28, 1937, in Germany to Constantine Simeonidis and Friedl Simeonidis. She was a registered nurse.

Survivors include her parents; three brothers, Chris Simeonidis and Fred Simeonidis, both of Canada, and Gustav Palm of Germany; and one sister, Undine Cowen of Canada.

Pallbearers were to be James White, Jeremy Hollis, J.W. White, Avery Long, Jeremiah White and Tony Hollis.

Robert Taylor Kirkham

THOMASVILLE -- Funeral for Robert Taylor Kirkham, 91, of Thomasville will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at O'Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. Glen Akridge and the Rev. Paul Early officiating.

Burial will be in Sweet Water Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Kirkham died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at Country Oaks No. 2 Assisted Living in Thomasville.

Other information will be announced by the funeral home.

Joseph Vernon Weems
52, truck driver

Funeral for Joseph Vernon Weems, 52, of Moulton will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Cottontown Missionary Baptist Church with Paul Davis and Crawford Rutherford officiating.

Burial will be in Blackground Cemetery with Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Weems died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Jan. 10, 1948, in Town Creek to Vernon Weems and Pauline Weems. He was a truck driver and a member of Cottontown Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Weems; two sons, Stacy Weems of Danville and Pvt. Eugene Weems of Fort Gordon, Ga.; one daughter, Tracy Henderson of Danville; his mother of Moulton; two brothers, Kenneth Weems and Andy Weems, both of Moulton; two sisters, Dianne Garrison and Darline DeMoss, both of Decatur; and seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Earl Hamm, Aaron Munston, Bobbie DeMoss, Chris Henderson, Roy Garrison and L.M. Munston.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Joy Lee Creel
45, Hartselle resident

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Joy Lee Creel, 45, of Hartselle will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Lindsey Herndon officiating.

Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Ms. Creel died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at her home. She was born Oct. 22, 1954, in Morgan County to James Turner Creel and Evelyn Grace Creel. She was a member of Central Christian Church.

Survivors include one brother, James Creel of Hartselle; and three sisters, Janice Jones of West Virginia, JoAnne Johnson of Villa Rica, Ga., and Jackie McHan of Hartselle.

Pallbearers will be Michael Creel, Thomas McHan, Franklin Morris, Michael Johnson, Perry Casteel and Tom Whitehead.

Robert Taylor Kirkham
91, gas repairman

THOMASVILLE -- Funeral for Robert Taylor Kirkham, 91, of Thomasville was to be today at 10 a.m. at O'Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. Glen Akridge and the Rev. Paul Early officiating.

Burial was to be in Sweet Water Cemetery.

Mr. Kirkham died Monday, August 14, 2000, at Country Oaks No. 2 assisted living facility in Thomasville. He was born Jan. 9, 1909, in Morgan County to Joel Jefferson Kirkham and Mittie Rebecca Dunn Kirkham. He was the oldest member of Sweet Water United Methodist Church and a member of the adult men's Sunday school class. He was a retired repairman for Transcontinental Gas Co. Inc., where he was employed for 21 years.

Survivors include three sons, Robert T. "Bob" Kirkham of Sweet Water, and William "Bill" Kirkham and Mark S. Kirkham, both of Decatur; two daughters, Patricia K. Knight of Jackson and Carol K. Etheridge of Thomasville; three brothers, J.D. Kirkham of Pennsylvania, Richard Kirkham of Oklahoma and W.O. "Orice" Kirkham of Linden; two sisters, Sudie K. Reid of Thomasville and Frankie Kirkham Cannon of Butler; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were to be Roger Knight, Brett Kirkham, Bart Kirkham, Michael Robinson, Patrick Robinson, Franklin Kirkham and Susan Armbrecht.

Employees of Country Oaks No. 2 and members of the adult men's Sunday school class of Sweet Water United Methodist Church were to be honorary pallbearers.
