Edward Roscoe Morrow
75, retired machinist

ARAB -- Memorial service for Edward Roscoe Morrow, 75, of Union Grove will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Calvary Holiness Church on Alabama 36 in Morgan County with the Rev. William Hayes officiating and Gober Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Morrow died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born April 29, 1925, in Morgan County to James Morrow and Lilly King Morrow. He was a retired machinist.

Survivors include one brother, Titus Morrow of Lacey's Spring; and one sister, Annie Bramlett of Lacey's Spring.

Aline Caroline O'Conner
86, retired secretary

ATHENS -- Graveside services for Aline Caroline O'Conner, 86, of Athens will be Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at Athens City Cemetery with Limestone Chapel Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. O'Conner died Monday, Aug. 28, 2000, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born March 27, 1914 in Chicago, Ill. She was a retired secretary for the Limestone County Circuit Court Clerk's office and a member of the Church of Christ. She was the widow of Jack C. O'Conner.

Survivors include one son, Jack O'Conner II of Athens; four daughters, Mary Corum of Athens, June Marie Fletcher of Decatur, Carol Ann Barksdale of Huntsville and Dorothy Gooch of Dublin, Va.; one brother, Burton Braley of Indio, Calif; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Central Church of Christ Building Fund or the Boys and Girls Club.

Eloise McCroskey Patrick
88, retired sales clerk

HANCEVILLE -- Funeral for Eloise McCroskey Patrick, 88, of Hanceville will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church with the Rev. Truman Davis officiating.

Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery with Hanceville Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Patrick died Monday, Aug. 28, 2000, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born Sept. 19, 1911, in Falkville to Virgil and Sallie Barkley McCroskey. She retired as a sales clerk from Ratliff Department Store after 35 years. She was the widow of Calvin L. Patrick and the sister of the late Kenneth R. McCroskey, Raymond Barkley McCroskey, Henry Francis McCroskey, Virgil Albert McCroskey, Elaine M. Hudson and Berith M. Edmondson.

Survivors include one son, Larry Patrick of Albany, Ga.; one daughter, Sue Appleton Dayton of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one step-grandchild.

Bertha Lois Rogers
90, civil service retiree

Funeral service for Bertha Lois Rogers, 90, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with Mark Posey officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Rogers died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born May 30, 1910, in Lawrence County to Burl Casteel and Ida A. Moles Casteel. She was a member of the Church of Christ and retired as a civil service worker from Pensacola Naval Air Station in Florida. She was the widow of Clyde Rogers.

Survivors include one son, Donald B. Rogers of Daphne; one sister, Mada Petty of Montgomery; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bill Vandiver, Winford Harris, Maurice Means, Kenneth Means, Bill Means and James Newman.

Mary Frances Teague
83, homemaker

HUNTSVILLE -- Funeral for Mary Frances Teague, 83, of Huntsville was to be today at 2 p.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Morrow and the Rev. Walter Peace officiating.

Burial was to be in Valhalla Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Teague died Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, in Lincoln County, Tenn. She was born March 31, 1917, in Jackson County. She was a homemaker, and a member of Calvary Holiness Church.

Survivors include one son, George Lee Steele Jr. of Somerville; two daughters, Frances Marie Atchley and Judy Roeske, both of Taft, Tenn.; three brothers, Randall Davis of Arab, Odell Davis of Winchester, Tenn., and Albert Davis of Shelbyville, Tenn.; one sister, Dorthy Daye of Elkmont; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chris McClary, Tracy Steele Jason Steele, D. Burgess, Andrew Davis and Dale Davis.

Ruby Mae Brawley
77, retired machine operator

ARAB -- Funeral for Ruby Mae Brawley, 77, of Arab was to be today at 2 p.m. at Gober Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Tyler officiating.

Burial was to be in Rescue Cemetery in Morgan City.

Mrs. Brawley died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, at Marshall Medical Center North. She was born June 5, 1923, in Morgan County to James Huey Eddy and Verdie Culbreath Eddy. She was a Baptist and retired as a machine operator at Blue Bell Manufacturing Co.

Survivors include one son, Paul Brawley of Arab; one daughter, Linda Harris of Arab; one brother, James Hugo Eddy of Morgan City; one sister, Emma Kate Tyler of Union Grove; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Erie I. Brown
78, homemaker

HARTSELLE -- Graveside service for Erie L. Brown, 78, of Hartselle will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Johnson Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Elder officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Brown died Monday, Aug. 28, 2000, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born Feb. 12, 1922, in Morgan County to Thomas Lawrence and Mary Izola Anders Lawrence. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, James H. Brown and Windal A. Brown, both of Hartselle; one daughter, Annie M. DeVires of Kalamazoo, Mich.; two sisters, Sue Bell of Loxley and Bertha Martin of Tennessee; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

George Elliott Murphy
74, Murphy Cotton president

ATHENS -- Funeral for George Elliott Murphy, 74, of Tanner will be Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Gooch, the Rev. Brian Murphy and the Rev. Lance Murphy officiating.

Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Murphy died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born Aug. 23, 1926, in Limestone County to George Murphy and Ruby Murphy. He was president of Murphy Cotton Co. Inc. and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Tanner United Methodist Church. He was the brother of the late Charles Murphy, Joe Murphy and Elizabeth Cannon.

Survivors include his wife, Era Murphy of Tanner; two sons, Reitzel and Virgle Murphy, both of Athens; one sister, Ruby Hayes of Tanner; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Billy Cannon, Joe Cannon, John Hayes, Mike Murphy, Kent Murphy, Boman Murphy and Freddie Hayes.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County or Tanner United Methodist Church.

Cecil E. Quillin
77, Monsanto retiree

Graveside service for Cecil E. Quillin, 77, of Decatur will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at K.P. Cemetery in Russellville with Ralph Stout officiating and Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Quillin died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born March 1, 1923, in Russellville to Charlie Quillin and Faye Quillin. He was a founder and a supporter of Decatur Little League Baseball, past member of Rising Sun Masonic Lodge No. 29, member of Grant Street Church of Christ and a World War II Navy veteran. He retired from Monsanto (now Solutia) after 40 years of service. He played baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals farm team in the early 1950s.

He is survived by one son, Rick Quillin of Plano, Texas; one daughter, Ginger Quillin Brown of Decatur; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brian Quillin, Jim Brown, Heath Haddock, Johnny Scott, Jerry Robinson and Dr. Don Shotts.

Martha E. Rippee
92, homemaker

BROOKFIELD, Mo. -- Martha E. Rippee, 92, of Brookfield died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at Pershing Regional Health Center in Marceline, Mo. Local arrangements were handled by Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home.

Mrs. Rippee was born July 9, 1908, in Johnson County, Mo., to Simpson Shackelford and Dorothy Toland Shackelford. She was a homemaker. She was the widow of Rex Rippee and the mother of the late Jewell Rippee.

Survivors include one son, Carl E. Rippee of Moulton; two daughters, Dorothy McCrary of Athens and Ellen Forst of Brookfield; two sisters, Josie Shackelford of Athens and Ruth Ann Downing of Warrensburg, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Charles Jacob Sapp
Infant

HARTSELLE -- Graveside service for infant Charles Jacob Sapp of Danville will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Johnson Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Campbell officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

The infant died Monday, Aug. 28, 2000, the day of his birth, at Decatur General Hospital. He was the grandson of the late Charles Nichols.

Survivors include his parents, Chris C. Sapp and Nichelle Nichols Sapp of Danville; one brother, Drake Sapp of Danville; and his grandparents, Sherri Nichols of Hartselle, Charlotte Letson and Jackie Letson, both of Danville, and Charlie Sapp of Hartselle.

Pallbearers will be Tim Nichols and Brent Sapp.

Julia Madison Balch
Infant

Graveside service for infant Julia Madison Balch of Decatur was to be today at 10 a.m. at New Friendship Cemetery with the Rev. Joe McKaig officiating and Shelton Funeral Home directing.

The infant died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, the day of her birth, at Decatur General Hospital.

Survivors include her parents, Ashley and Amy Balch of Decatur; and her grandparents, Edd and Carolyn Elaine Balch and Robert and Nancy Couey, all of Decatur.

Alfred M. 'Butch' Brewer
46, machine operator

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Alfred M. "Butch" Brewer, 46, of Hartselle will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Miller officiating.

Burial will be in Cedar Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Brewer died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born July 26, 1954, in Morgan County to M.L. Brewer and Alice Tribble Brewer. He was a machine operator for Dunlop Tire Co.

Survivors include one son, Jarrod Brewer of Mobile; one brother, Kenneth Brewer of Hartselle; and two sisters, Frances Drinkard and Carolyn Brewer, both of Hartselle.

Pallbearers will be Stan Drinkard, Tim Drinkard, Randy Drinkard, Lee Drinkard, Tony Drinkard and Brent Drinkard.
