ATHENS -- Funeral for Pearly C. Posey, 85, of Athens was to be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will be in Hester's Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Posey died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.

She was born June 5, 1914, in Giles County, Tenn. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Randy Posey and Roy Posey, both of Anderson; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

James T. Tatum Jr.
68, attorney

HUNTSVILLE -- Funeral for James T. Tatum Jr., 68, of Huntsville was to be today at 1 p.m. at Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Huntsville with the Rev. Dr. Roderic L. Murray III officiating. Laughlin Service Funeral Home was to direct.

Burial was to be in Maple Hill Cemetery. The family was to receive friends at the church until time for the service.

Mr. Tatum died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, at his home. He was born May 28, 1931, in Birmingham. He was a senior partner with Berry, Ables, Tatum, Baxter, Hall and Parker law firm. He graduated from Auburn University in 1953 with a degree in mechanical engineering and was a 1962 graduate of The University of Alabama School of Law. He chaired the planning and priorities committee and the bylaws committee during a 1984 to 1998 term on Auburn's Board of Trustees. An honorary doctorate for him will be presented at Auburn's fall quarter graduation. He was president of Huntsville Kiwanis Club for two terms and received the Kiwanis George F. Hixson Fellow Award. He was also past president of the Huntsville-Madison County Bar Association and was a 1949 graduate of Decatur High School.

He is survived by his wife, Dana Lee Tatum; two sons, William Blanton Tatum and Phillip Lee Lehman, both of Huntsville; three daughters, Terri Tatum Estess and Jamie Tatum Brown, both of Birmingham, and Julie Lehman Burk of Indianapolis; one sister, Geraldine McKenzie Mitchell of Cupertino, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Episcopal Church of the Nativity.

Larry Lamar Legg
46, self-employed barber

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Larry Lamar Legg, 46, of Decatur will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Deer Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Forman officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Legg died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at his parents' home. He was born May 11, 1953, in Morgan County. He was a member of Deer Springs Baptist Church and a self-employed barber in Hartselle and Decatur for more than 25 years.

He is survived by one son, Christopher Legg of Decatur; one daughter, Shay Legg of Hartselle; his parents, Floyd L. and Helen F. Vest Legg of Hartselle; two brothers, Tony Legg of Hartselle and Ricky Legg of Lewisburg, Tenn.; and one sister, Janice Russell of Hartselle.

Pallbearers will be Aubrey Gray, Mike Haggermaker, Michael Jetton, Anthony Legg, Gary Legg, Scott Legg, Jeff Rascoe and Tommy Russell.

Steve McDonald
64, retired farmer

MOULTON -- Funeral for Steve McDonald, 64, of Danville will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Arnold Brackin officiating.

Burial will be in Chalybeate Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. McDonald died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at his home. He was born Nov. 6, 1934, in Morgan County to Edd and Mary Elizabeth McDonald. He was a retired farmer.

He is survived by three sons, George McDonald of Danville, Steve McDonald of Hamilton and John McDonald of Moulton; two daughters, Janice Taylor of Danville and Audrey Williams of Crane Hill; two brothers, Smokey McDonald of Arkansas and Jack McDonald of Florida; two sisters, Alice Taylor of Talladega and Ann McMullan of Enterprise; and 14 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Steve McDonald, B.J. McDonald, Ken McDonald, Wayne Johnson, Steve Coburn and Donnie Lindley.

Charles BurtonPollard
70, Korean War veteran

CENTRE -- Funeral for Charles Burton Pollard, 70, of Centre was Monday at Perry Funeral Home with the Rev. Stanley Clark officiating.

Burial was in Piedmont Memory Gardens.

Mr. Pollard died Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at his home. He was born Dec. 6, 1928, in Piedmont to Talmadge and Lela Givens Pollard. He was a veteran of the Korean War, a member of Centre First United Methodist Church and a retired department manager from Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. He was the widower of Bobbie Ivey Pollard.

He is survived by one son, Philip S. Pollard of Chesapeake Beach, Md.; two daughters, Pamela J. Dear of Jacksonville and Lauri Ellen Horner of Cooper City, Fla.; one brother, Jack G. Pollard of Athens, Texas; one sister, Lenora Hilburn of Decatur; and seven grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

TRINITY -- Graveside service for Thelma Louise Toye Reeves, 90, of Moulton will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at East Lawrence Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Glen Radford officiating and Parkway Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Reeves died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, in Moulton. She was born Dec. 17, 1909, in Perry, Iowa. She was a nurse and homemaker, and a member of Moulton Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Susan Carol Roberts Stover of Moulton; one sister, Frances Fisher of Houston, Texas; one half brother, Manny Backstrom of Fayetteville, Ark.; one half sister, Margaret Jackson of Altoona, Iowa; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bill Watson, Larry Lang, Vacel Sutton, Clarence Stover, Daniel Stover and Archie Cahela.

Louis Roy Hendrix

Funeral for Louis Roy Hendrix, 73, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. C.G. Reding officiating.

Burial will be at Decatur City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Hendrix died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999, at Decatur General Hospital.

He was born Feb. 15, 1926, in Morgan County. He was a retired plant superintendent for North Alabama Fabricating and a Navy veteran of World War II.

He is survived by two sons, Larry Roy Hendrix and Phil Wayne Hendrix, both of Decatur; two sisters, Opal Isley of Powder Springs, Ga., and Lura Isley of Hiram, Ga.; two brothers, Luther Hendrix of Decatur and Bernice C. "Buddy" Hendrix of San Louis Obispo, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be LaWayne Hendrix, John Allen, Lynn Isley, Wilbur Hopkins, Mike Stewart, Maurice Dutton, Ken Hendrix and Jerry Hendrix.

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Kenneth L. Higginbotham, 66, of Hartselle will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Sherril Hill and the Rev. David Lett officiating.

Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Higginbotham died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999, at his residence. He was born Nov. 5, 1932, in Limestone County, to William H. and Ettece J. Stanford Higginbotham. He made candy at Brach's Candy Co. in Chicago and was a Marine veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Margret Nethery Higginbotham; two sons, Kenneth Lee Higginbotham of Hartselle and Daniel Raye Higginbotham of Falkville; one stepson, James Murrell Frazier of Hartselle; one daughter, Betty Juanita Niebres of Sleepy Hollow, Ill.; one stepdaughter, Debbie Richard of Birmingham; four brothers, Doyce J. Higginbotham and Billy R. Higginbotham, both of Hartselle, William E. Higginbotham of Orlando, Fla., and Donald W. Higginbotham of Gibsontown, Fla.; two sisters, Bobbie N. Lee of Hartselle and Carol Counts of Florence; five grandchildren and one step-grandson.

Pallbearers will be Robert Puckett, Thomas Marshall, Lewis Rogers, John Chenault, Ray Kirby and Kenneth Standridge.

James L. Hunter
75, retired J.C. Penney manager

ATHENS -- Graveside service for James L. Hunter, 75, of Athens was to be today at 11 a.m. at Athens City Cemetery with Eddie Gooch officiating and Spry Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Hunter died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Dec. 9, 1923, in Morgan County. He was a Baptist and former director of Athens Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Rotary Club and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired manager of J.C. Penney.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Groce Hunter; one son, James Timothy Hunter of Kalispell, Mont.; one daughter, Peggy John of Pensacola, Fla.; two brothers, Billy Glen Hunter and Wayne Hunter, both of Huntsville; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mark Horton, Gary Horton, Eric Smith, Jerry Groce, Larry Groce and Johnny LeCroix.
